Despite their ridiculous plan, @Alonso Thorlion @Emil Trevelyan @Aerana @Seigi @Megan Tritor @Kaede Hoshi managed to make it up the wall without much problem. While his teammate climbed up the wall, he climbed by himself, using his precious magic rope to mount the dauntingly tall wall. Once he was at the top, he looked on at the struggling group, gesturing for them to do their best so they could take advantage of the block of time where most of the occupants of the keep went out.

Once the team made it to the top, the scout signaled for them to follow him. The scout himself ducked and kept to the ground as much as possible, using the battlements on either side of the wall as cover. With a brisk pace, the group quickly came to one of the towers that practically stopped their movement.

Looking to his right and then his left to make sure no one was around, the guard knocked on the door six times in a peculiar rhythm. Normally, one might expect a reply asking the knocker to identify themselves. Instead, whoever was on the other side knocked back, in the exact pattern the group had heard prior. After a brief pause, the knock continued for much longer this time, which the scout responded to with his own; it appeared very much like a 2-way communication.

"Okay, that was the spy I had told you guys about earlier. He recommend that we somehow bait them toward their brew storage and just blow the entire thing to smithereens. It will remove a lot of their force, for one, and give us more leeway to sneak into the fortress. Really, all we have to do is assassinate the person in charge of the fortress and we should be good, does everyone agree?"

    Cycle 6 - C Status

Posting cool-down has been reset. Everyone gets 1 post this cycle. Your objective this cycle is to rig explosives at the brew storage and lure soldiers there so you can blow them up and use the chaos to sneak into the keep in the next cycle.

You can only do one of these actions per post. You can flavor it however you want, but you must use the correct template depending on your action.

Set Explosive Work together and set up explosives so you can lure the soldiers to the brew storage to blow them up.

You can use your mastery to contribute in a number of ways, such as rogue or mobility to quickly sneak around and gather materials for the people building the explosive. Or you can use your skills to set up how you'll bait the guards, etc. This is a broad action that allow you to basically set up a kill area.

Only people with tinker and crafting mastery or engineer may work on actually building the explosives and take advantage of the alcohol in the storage to set a huge explosion.

    • Costs 10 EN
Any mastery get +5 per tier (excluding beginner) and +10 for Mastered.
    • Tinker, engineer, or any crafting mastery get +10 per tier (excluding beginner) and +20 for Mastered. Your skills allow you to put together potent explosives.

  4. Definitely something big, especially if it involved explosives and assassinations. Just what had Aerana gotten herself into? It was probably an incredibly bad time to tell the rest of the group she still wasn't sure what the whole end goal of the mission was. Regardless, she was in the thick of things now and she would face the coming storm with both poise and dignity as she always did. Her Greatarrows were strange objects to the uninitiated and a sudden shot coming from above would no doubt pique the curiosities of a few people. The unfamiliar terrain and air would make the shot much harder than normal but she had faith in her abilities. Finding a good place to both conceal herself and give her a line of sight to her target, she idly wondered if any of the various potions, poultices and reagents in her alchemist's pack would be able to help. The new area would also present some opportunity for improvisation if she found the time while the others did their thing.

  7. _____Building a bomb, well now she sort of wished she still dated the girl who used to be part of a bomb squad. Sadly things went over badly after the girl did try to shoot Kaede for sleeping with another girl even though she agreed to let Kaede do such. Shaking her head to dismiss the sour memory while rubbing her arm without informing her group much. After a light clicking of her tongue she would lean backwards and fall off the wall to the inner area using her fall to flip over and lightly tap the ground trigging sneak half way down and simply walking around for the moment looking.

”Honestly I’m not sure anyone here knows how to make a bomb… At best we have a fire mage and I can cast some to explode it so maybe just highly flammable objects and maybe a crash course terrible bomb making guide. Should be fun, but stay my distance when I teach, not gonna die again if I can avoid it.”

_____After whispering things over to herself Kaede started moving along the shadows. Taking a look over a number of things and taking her time to move some of the things she and the group could use to set everything up. Barrel of oil, that was something she carefully moved to the shadows as close to the area for now, not yet sure it was safe to fully start setting the kill room. Slowing down for a moment as Kaede recalled this was fantasy age, not exactly sure she would have wires or things akin to gunpowder. Clicking her tongue she just focused on taking some scraps back with her.

_____While still in sneak she would set them down near the group, the sound from them getting set was the only hint she was close but by the time someone looked she would be flipping back down the wall to go back to searching. Moving her way carefully into a storage room checking and taking a couple of staffs before she got a rude voice who for once seemed to be needed to call out to her.

”Oh please, I can make a bigger explosion with my pinky then you all can with these little scraps. How about we strike a little deal? I’ll give you a decent spell, but it is going to be up close and you will need to be in the room to make it any real useful.”

_____Kaede would sigh lightly, here she was hoping the spirit was going to just ask her to fire off a fire bomb, not be one. Tossing his plan on the back burner she returned to the group with the staffs and set them down before breaking sneak and talking to them. Mostly just seeming to appear from thin air a bit closer to them after having vanished randomly.

”I don’t suppose any of you have real bomb making knowledge, closest I get was dating a bomb squad chick…”

  10. Megan was dragged up the side of the wall as she cast her spell over and over again, covering it in ice. When they finally were on top, she thrust herself from Alonso's shoulders slamming into the ground with a thud. "Ughhhh" she moaned in moderate pain as the cold air whipped her cloak about her. She looked up at the black cloud above, that slowly began to gather as sounds of distant thunder echoed around. Though it was a result of an earlier spell Megan simply wasn't aware of it at this time.

Shifting her focus to the guard, she tried to listen to his long-winded instructions, wondering idly why the man was a simple scout and not some sort of battle tactician. Of course, as she thought that he suddenly shut up leaving them without a plan on how to, in fact, carry out his plan. The last thing he said was to blow up a brewery but how? Blinking Megan looked around them waiting for someone to come up with a plan but no one did, at least not immediately, so Megan stood there summoning another spell.

"Oh goddess Shiva, bless me with your presence and let loose a heated breath.... " the chanting continued for some time before she ended, "Obscuring Mists!" as she stopped a strong wind began to blow bringing in a white mist that proceeded to cover the area giving the group some cover.

  13. With the icy wall, the gigantic, quite exotic, arrows as an extra hold and on top of Kaede weakening the structure even further, Seigi's make-shift climbing tools finally managed to get a hold! Success!

With the groups combined effort they finally managed to, sooner or later, get on top of the wall! Maybe it was because of the ice or that they were higher up that Seigi certainly felt colder but a heroine was immune against any and all climates. So not like it mattered.

Instead, the scout now explained how they should best proceed further. Something about explosions! Explosions were always good. They were flashy. Loud. Big. Strong. Powerful. Beautiful. Just like Seigi was!

Though while the girl wasn't an expert at explosives, and now certainly wished she had listened more to her teachers private lessons, the goal was to make more of a distraction, no? Though wouldn't that put a lot of attention on them? Or rather, outside of the initinal confusion, tighten the security?

Whatever. As @Megan Tritor summoned up some sort of wind, or rather mist, the small heroine had an idea. "Great Witch Megan, was it, right? Nin! Our plan is to confuse the heck out of them all?! Well, if I, the great heroic Seigi, make a bunch of those!" Using even more junk, Seigi made a simple noise-devices that rattled with a bunch of scrap metal on a wooden stick that could easily be placed anywhere. "...and your wind on top of obstructing their vision with the mist maybe we can lure them close enough without being there ourselves! Like a true Ninja!" Clearly, the super smart and heroic Seigi deserved a prize for her genius!

  16. There was no conversation this time around, for which a frustrated Emil could only sigh and wait. His one good eye watched as his team members began to gather or make instruments that would, hopefully, detonate and explode once he did his magic. Granted, no one had said he was going to be the one to do it, but he assumed that he would be.

Clearing his throat, he began to mark off an area with arcane circles and images, all the while muttering to himself as he did so. Once complete, he looked to his team and pointed to the middle of the circle where something akin to a pyramid with an eye at the epicenter had been drawn into the ground.

Casting this as a ritual should enhance the heat and, hopefully, make a bigger explosion. Maybe it’ll draw more guards this way. Either way, I’m ready to light shit on fire the moment you all give the word.

  19. Espionage that did not involve outright beating the crap out of some poor sap became the goal of this next step. His team seemed to be, somewhat, capable of doing that, although the actual success of their attempt was not going to reveal itself until later. Alonso sighed, gazing about the area they intruded upon. The man lowered his voice and noted to himself, "Guess I better do guard duty or something." Facing his back towards his teammates, a view just as impressive as the Felis's front half, he took a few steps away and bent low. Better to see the guards coming and not be caught than revealing himself before anybody was finished.

Yet, something felt off about the whole thing. It seemed a bit easy, so easy in fact that something was bound to go wrong, and not just the potential of a large explosion giving away their position. A quick glance towards the bomb setters gave the confirmation they were at least working together. Somehow. Even if the group was unable to complete the task in an undetermined amount of time, the big guy knew he should at least prove to be a nice distraction. Oh boy.

Try as they might, the orange team, @Alonso Thorlion @Emil Trevelyan @Aerana @Seigi @Megan Tritor @Kaede Hoshi, could only manage to start a modest fire, which took forever to escalate. It was time that the group did not have.

Before orange team could attract the attention of every soldiers in the immediate area as they had planned, the scout gestured for his team to follow him in a quick getaway from the beer storage. They traveled a distance, hiding off the side of the keep. Looking at the tiny pillar of smoke from their refuge, the scout bit his lower lip in annoyance after witnessing their plan falling apart.

"Some of the guards started heading there, but the fire is far too small to attract anymore of them. Fuck!!! I thought he had it too. They are probably thinking to prioritize defense and security over putting the fire out because it's not significant enough. I thought for sure what we did could make the entire storage explode, but maybe I don't know anything about explosion. Anyways, we're in a big pinch now, what should we do?"
The scout asked the group in a quiet voice as the environment around them came to life with guards running around and the alarm being rung as they went into a frenzy looking for the intruders who set the storage ablaze.

"Look, I have got a family back home and I am guessing some of you might too. We have two options at this point:
    1. We can just attempt to assassinate the keep lord, which is going to be a monumental task at this point. Some of you might even die for it...
    2. Or, we can just abandon the mission. Not as hard. I can guarantee everyone's safety at least.
I think the princess mentioned that only a few groups have to succeed at capturing the enemy's headquarters so, it's not a big deal if we left now. I feel like we got the short end of the stick in getting a really difficult fortress that's too heavy on security. If you guys went with the assassination option though... you guys are on your own. I'll give you a map and that's the end of my service. Sorry."

  21. _____Kaede would follow the group after things did not seem to go as they should have, listening to the scout Kaede had only one real reaction to him. Walking over slowly before she pulled her right fist back and moved to slam her closed fist to his right cheek bone and hopefully get him to move slightly as she glared at him. If she was not with a group she would have tried to make an attempt at his life for his lack of backbone. Moving away from the group Kaede could only growl loudly in her mind and slightly outward before she spoke.

”Like hell I'm going to walk away from this. We got here and if you all want to run go ahead. I’m not leaving unless I'm dead or have the head of the lord leader on my katana. Or maybe just proof he is dead to show the princess she trusted us correctly and not go back as a coward!”

_____Moving further from the group before Kaede would trigger her sneak ability and started making her way around the area. She was not feeling guilty she left the group, nor for what she said or did. They came here to help the princess and the other players who got caught. Part of her felt responsible for that since she was one of those who would have been caught had she not got distracted and lost along the way.

_____Not to mention Kaede still did not trust the scout and if he said something she would consider the opposite. Not to mention dying again honestly was not much a worry for Kaede as she moved into some shadows and dug around her UI to get out a black cloak to cover her body to blend with the shadows before resuming her solo operation. If others followed she would not likely be around them, nor did she think anyone could find her considering the difference in mastery of rogue she had to most. Now she just needed to find the leader and take them out, seemed easy enough.
    Action: Assassination

  22. "Can't say I was going to be of much help regardless concerning the whole deal with starting an explosion," Alonso said, taking in their scout's words and suggestions. Once more he took into consideration the composition of the team. Despite their unique attributes, the sole person capable of doing something sneaky, in a reliable manner, was Kaede. Assumptions yes, but sometimes those had to be made in a perilous situation. The big guy needed to start learning how to consider builds on the fly due to the way this damned game seems to operate. A sigh escaped his lips, having considered his options, but paused once the nice scout girl decided to open her mouth.

    "Oh no.

    And gone she was.

His massive hand slapped itself on his face, neck turning the man's head in disbelief. If the situation was not horrible now, it sure got worse. "While I was going to just leave it at escaping, perhaps we could try something else while we do," the Felis began, noting to message their ninja later, "Doesn't look like we can stop her from going, but maybe we can assist in another way. As we leave, perhaps we can try and draw out their commander but causing a ruckus. If that fails so be it, but as long as we keep moving, in theory we should be able to escape as quickly as possible." Maybe the group will be down for that. He may be a leader, but he was still fair.

Vote: Escape, but try and draw out the commander while they do.

  23. Vote: Escape

Seeing that the whole group's plan had failed and that one option involved assassination, a word that left a bad taste in her mouth, there was only one option for her really. She wasn't about to risk her life to maybe kill someone who had done no wrong to her, as far as she could remember at least. And if the mystery lord had somehow done something to her in the past, well, live and let live. Vengeance was a petty goal, the exact opposite of the pursuit of knowledge. Considering the actions of the others, she was beginning to doubt the integrity of the people involved. It was one thing to cause a bit of mayhem and chaos, it was another to deliberately take a life. She spoke to the remnants of the group, quietly in order to not draw too much attention,

"I will not be risking my life for as petty as this like this."

  24. Things didn't seem to work out as planned. But when were they ever? And dealing with situations like that was part of a heroes job anyways, no? Seigi was still hoping, rather than assassinating, they could talk things out.

Sure, it was naive and all, but hope was one of the strongest fuels for an hero! Seigi trusted the princess judgement. The soldiers would basically lose their morale if their lord was no more or something, no?! So clearly, killing him couldn't be the only solution.

Not only did Kaede seem to do precisely that without trying for some alternative, but she was also putting herself in more danger! This wasn't even about being a coward or not. It was about staying true to her own principles. Thus, with these circumstances, Seigi's course of actions were pretty much decided.

Seigi considered trying to convince the others but... as deluded as Seigi was, she was also aware of how dangerous the entire situation just turned out to be. They had to decide for themselves. It wasn't her place, nor the time, trying to convince them to do the right thing.

"I'm not faulting any of you for being afraid. Life is precious. I get that. But that's precisely why I can't just turn my back now. Nin." It wasn't easy being an hero, after all. Putting her fist in front of her chest she closed her eyes for a second. Whispeing to herself. "With Guts and Effort." Before running off like an idiot to save the day! ... or at the very least the red-haired woman she didn't even really know.

    Vote: Assassination

  25. Megan followed each comment with skepticism. To be honest she wasn't even sure what they were trying to fight for out here, or really what the plan had been to begin with. However, it seemed as if they had failed whatever it was suppose to be. The entire thing had mad Megan feeling rather less than generous in terms of contribution, her mega mist seemingly not helping in anyway. With a pout, she poked the ground with her crude staff as the others debated whether they would run or stay. It seemed to be a deadlock, coming down to herself and the fire guy. Instead of interjected she sat down on the ground gloomily gazing about herself looking for something else to occupy her interest for the time being.

    Vote: Abstain

  26. Emil couldn’t believe the rogue girl left them all…again. He could only roll his eyes and exhale a weary sigh. Though he agreed with what she and the others said about wanting to finish the mission, the vindictive side of him wanted the girl to get caught and tortured for leaving the rest of the group behind.

Seriously, did she just not play group tactic videogames or something?

I want to finish the mission, Emil said calmly, the eloquent tone usually accompanying his speech forgotten for now. We were sent here to do a thing and I want to see it through. However, since red-head decided to be Rambo, I am more wanting to see her reap the consequences of her actions. He gave a snort to indicate just how annoyed he was by what all had progressed.

Drawing out the lord while we escape is a good idea. I agree with Lord Thorlion.

Action: Escape, but try and draw out the commander while they do.

Of @Alonso Thorlion @Emil Trevelyan @Aerana @Seigi @Megan Tritor @Kaede Hoshi, the majority decided on escaping, seeing as how the situation was far too dangerous now to pursue combat. The scout was incredibly concerned about @Seigi and @Kaede Hoshi whose strong personality led them to vehemently pursue the assassination route with or without the group. He wasn't sure if it was bravery or sheer stupidity, but the princess had tasked him with the monumental job of keeping them all safe.

Shaking his head, the scout pulled out an orange whistle and blew into it. Not a peep could be heard from the whistle. However, within a few minutes, a woman wearing nothing but patched-up rags appeared from the shadow. She had an infuriated expression on her face, which was directed toward the scout.

"The plan failed and all the guards are on high alert now. If you can't kill the fortress commander, what are you still doing here?!"

The scout scratched his head as he expressed his agitation through his body language. He had fell for the woman's provocation.

"Look, we need your help to get out of here. And, you also need to get out with us, they are going to try and root out the spy."
"Argh, you drive me crazy, Arnin and not in a good way either. Very well, follow closely behind me...

Actually, I have an idea. I know it's kind of risky, but we should try to at least hinder them on the way out. To do that, we're going to try and destroy their forge and equipment storage. It's not as ideal as assassinating the fortress lord, but it'll help the princess and Astorea some. How about that? It's not as dangerous either, though, definitely try not to fall behind."

The woman eyed @Kaede Hoshi, who didn't seem to agree with her, so she immediately grabbed the girl by the ear and whispered threatening words into the hollow cavity, don't even think about it...
She also gestured to @Alonso Thorlion for an aside, asking him if he could just grab @Seigi and drag her away by force.

The mission to sneak around the danger zone and sabotage the forge and equipment storage as part of the grand escape begins.
