After walking through the portal, the previously imprisoned squad and the rescue teams were ejected from the portal. People who were not used to rift traveling are normally thrown from the portal, which may manifest in random places, including 100 feet above ground level. Fortunately, Cessia had instructed the maids to cover the floor with thick blankets to cushion the violent ejection some rift travelers may experience. Once all members of a group had made it through the portals, the Astral Mage would jump through and close it off.

D'vangelline
D’vangelline waited until all of the portals were closed off before she pushed her way toward the throng of title holders crowding up the balcony in the central chamber as the maids shuffled about, picking up the blankets that have been scattered about the floor.
“Your majesty, I need to speak to you. I’m sure your confidantes have caught you up in everything that’s been happening since your capture in the mountains. So, please, allow me to cut to the chase. I want you to help me remove my father, King Theodore Verdalia de Falder, Falderen’s former Hero of Light, from the seat of power.
I believe doing so will benefit both of our nations in unimaginable ways, I do not think he is fit to be the King due to his deteriorating mental health, yet our people are far too empathetic and far too fearful to tell their ruler that he is wrong for cutting Falderen off from the rest of the world, and seeking a war that would lead to the suffering of many of our people. I do not wish to see either of our nation fall before the might of the demons who had claimed the north as their unholy land.”

Astor
Astor listened without so much as a reply while D’vangelline assaulted him with her grand proposals. He had been burned once by a Falder, there was no way in hell he would simply take the princess at her word. Once she finished reciting her inspiring speech at him, he cast a weary gaze at her intense eyes and disarmed her with an insult,
“Do you always talk this much? Regardless, you do make it rather obvious that we’re on our best foot when we take advantage of one another in such a way. The boys and girls of Astorea get your father’s head for whatever personal gripes they have with him, or in a pursuit of peace, while you get the throne. It’s not that bad a trade if only things were so simple, huh?”

D'vangelline
“If it would put your mind at ease, I will undergo a curse from your most accomplished Malefimancer so you may kill me if I failed to deliver on my promise. From one warrior to another, I swear I will uphold my bargain, your majesty. If you have nothing to add to my counter-proposal, then I will assume that it is a compromise we can agree on, no?
Time is of the essence, we have not a single minute to waste as Falderen’s armies of light approach Castle Dormont. You saw how those men fought, they upheld their duty without fear. I do not know how my father controls them, but Astorea will not last if you don’t follow my plan.”
Astor
“And what plan is that?”

D'vangelline
“Send an expedition to escort me from here to Stokbon. Not many know this, but the tunnels beneath this city, which was made by the Vampire Wurms as you already know, connects to the sewers of Stokbon. It is a long journey, but we will be able to avoid the invading armies.
Once we clear the way into Stokbon, the expedition will double back to defend the city while your best people, and I mean, your BEST people will come with me into the High Keep to assassinate my father. That is the only way to stop the armies of lights from crushing Astorea.
If I were you, I would put out a notice assembling 2 teams, one with your second best people who will clear the tunnels and make way for the assassination team, which must include your best people.
However, I do recommend leaving some veterans here at the home front to repel Falderen’s invading armies, if the capital falls, that is going to be the death to all of us, myself included. For now, you and your people should take the rest of the day to recover. We will set out posthaste tonight.”

Astor
Astor signaled
@Lucia Mierz to come over so he could whisper in her ear.
“Can you put a curse on the Princess’ neck that will instantly kill her the moment I ask you to detonate it? We need a fallback in case she throws us under the bus.”
He then turned to the rest of the title holders and asked,
“so which of you will be doing what? If you do not want to be at risk of dying, I don’t recommend joining the assassination team with me. I have a score to settle with the King, so I will find him and I will kill him, even if I have to die a hundred times over. What about you... Duke? (@Seto Kurama)”
Lastly he turned his attention onto Cessia and gave her an order,
"Put out an enlistment notice and make it known through out the entire city. We're going to need as many people as we are able to muster."
