There was so much blood. And it wasn’t so much people they were extracting from the rubble as body parts, armor, weapons and the like. It was enough to make Savannah want to alt f4 right then and there.

Feeling a shadow pass over her back, she blinked and looked up, noticing @Aalam Abungu standing there. She recognized him from the little window box that had appeared in her UI at the start of all this chaos. He was her commanding officer for now and, listening in, she could only nod her head. Perhaps she should have mentioned that she had never worked siege engines before, but he was already moving on to his next bit of duty.

Savannah could only nod to herself and scramble to do as she was told. Standing, she made her away to a catapult that was just being loaded, the NPCs shoulders looking at her with wane smiles as she got into position to control the machine. Grunting, she pulled the lever and watched at the boulder was ricochet over the wall and into enemy forces. The NPCs around her immediately began to cheer, but Savannah could only give a small smile in return.

Let’s reload! she called out to them and watched as they began to go through the motions.

Rodger had to admit, he was impressed by the shield bearer. He wasn't sure if she was real or an NPC, but she was really selling her role in all this. While crossing to the ballista, another siege unit had been fired onto the enemy, and several attacks had been thwarted by his protector. Yet it came at a cost. She had injured her side trying to protect him, and now an arrow was embedded in her side, a trail of red following. But she didn't even complain, just kept muttering about getting him to that weapon.

The men were scrambling about trying to get it reloaded, while he moved to take the chair from the slain solider. He got the call, it was loaded and ready. Rodger turned his sights towards the remaining catapult, hoped that he was aiming at something crucial, and fired. The bolt managed to do some damage, causing the contraption to collapse in a heap.

Welp, his job was done for now.

The calm before the storm that Eleanor had been enjoying was just as brief as most calms were, unfortunately. With her foot positioned upon the pile of stones she'd gathered as a sort of pathetic, mini avalanche, she gazed upon the summoned snowy boulder. With a smile, her underdeveloped, popcorn thought had seemed to sprout a formulating idea! With the glow of arcane fluttering around her hands, like translucent butterflies, she was just about to reach for the cold sphere, when...

"--Ehh?!" Equipped with the slippers she had obtained during the escape from the prison, her heel ever so slightly twisted, and her balance was soon lost a moment later. Falling back onto her rear, her small stone pile went abruptly rolling down the hill. A second later, as arrows littered the sky, her eyes went wide, and she scrambled behind the snowy boulder.

Using the frigid orb as cover, Eleanor swiftly retrieved her charms from her bag. As each began to float, she pressed them to the surface of the boulder, each sticking, an arcane glow tethered to their proximities. Keeping her focus sharp, she placed herself into a strong stance, leaning into the large creation.

"C-Can you help me out a bit here?" With a nervous chuckle, the detective glanced towards @Claire Thalassa, with her fingers digging into the large snowball. Unfortunately, as hard as she pressed, she produced little result from the physical strain, and her magic couldn't do much to help her in this situation. Her scrawny arms scrambled against the larger mass, attempting to shove it down towards the incoming forces bellow.

In the back of her mind, she heard a familiar voice, speak another familiar name. @Verity, was it? And @Sylpha Astarte? Perhaps they were somewhere on the battlefield as well, accompanying her efforts. She could only hope such trust-able previous allies were among her flock, as her mind was required to focus on the current combat.

BOOM!!! The sound of giant boulders being flung into the eastern wall rung loudly through the city under siege and shook the foundation everyone stood on. Only two boulders reach the wall this time, indicating that there would be a weak round and strong round when all of their catapults are loaded and ready to launch.

The invasion continue heating up, however, as Falderen forces began closing in on the wall. From the distance, you can see siege towers steadily being rolled toward the wall. Within these massive war machines were ring-eyed archers barraging the wall. Those who were manning the wall had to hide behind the battlement to escape the arrows. Although some mages on your side launched their spell at the siege towers, they seemed to be coated with some kind of mana shield, nullifying all magic. Because of this, the siege towers came closer and closer to the wall without being damaged.

Meanwhile, hundreds of infantry units closed in on the wall, with shield above their head, blocking physical projectiles that was raining down on them. If you looked carefully, you will be able to see the enemy escorting flaming battering rams up toward the gate while a squad of Falderen soldiers attempting to build a bridge within the muddy moat, hoping to forge a path for the rams to reach the door. You knew that despite the flying arrows from the encroaching siege towers, you have to deal with them else they will break down the gate.

Before you figure out what to do, you overheard a scout reporting to @Aalam Abungu and @Kijin Shihaku about the situation beyond the wall. "Okay, so I have some questionably bad news? The enemy mages are preparing some kind of spell. I have no idea what they are doing, but if we don't do anything about it soon, we're going to take the full hit when they finish. I think you guys will have to choose what to focus on, 1. the bridge builders, 2. the siege towers, or 3. the mages."

After the two Commanders discussed the issue with one another and a few of their peers, they came to the conclusion that they needed to deal with the bridge builders first. Making sure the enemies do not get those flaming battering rams to break down the door. And so, they announced their plan with the rest of Southwatch and turned the soldiers attention toward protecting people who could best take down the bridge builders and the enemy who were escorting the ram over said bridge.

Knowing she wasn't the strongest didn't matter much to the feline as she focused on taking on builders she could barely see. Creating chaos upon the bridges and to the builders and battering rams that were upon it? That was far more fun than just keeping up the defense. She wanted to get a good show out of this, and what better way than to play with fire- literally?

Trying to spread her spells out, she continued to use her phantasmia on the crowd of enemies beyond her reach. She didn't do as much damage as she might have wanted, but seeing those she did harm having panic attacks was quite the sight to see!

They were in trouble that last attack had rocked the wall, they were trying to push straight through and that was something that he wasn’t going to allow to happen not on his watch. They had to take care of those bastards who were trying to ram the gate if they were to get through then there was going to be no way that the advance could be held back @Savannah Reed “I need you down there on the gate take @Emerath Katou with you the boy is our best tinker he might be able to refortify it. You both are not allowed to die do you hear me.”

That took care of the gate for right now but there was still the problem of the siege unit if they were stopped it would be fighting a war on two fronts. “I need two men on the ballista and you keep them firing nonstop. Your goal is to take down those units”. @Eileen Dover “Keep anyone who attacks those bridge builders alive.” Everyone else acts as you see fit.

Grabbing an arrow from his quiver and knocking his bow moving from behind the protection of the wall to get a shot at those builders. Letting his arrow fly right into the neck of one of the men pulling out the next arrow and doing that again and again, if they were lucky they might be able to cut down the numbers before the siege units were able to get into range. Well, it was a good day to die and a better day to live, Hooah.

@Eleanor Loan looked like she was having a bit of trouble with the snowball. Which was fair; Claire might have gone a bit overboard with making it. But hey, the larger it was, the more people it could crush, right?

But two people were better than one for this sort of thing, so Claire heaved against the giant snowball, eventually dislodging it from where she had formed it. The colossal monstrosity started tumbling down, aimed in the general direction of where there were some people attempting to build a bridge to get to their walls. Well, looked like they were in for a surprise. And if the snowball broke apart, it could also hinder their movements if the potential invaders had to wade through a knee-high snowbank.

But to her dismay, it looked like the snowball was set slightly off course, and it would roll past the vast majority of the bridge builders. It would still get a few of them, but not as many as she hoped.

Fire! Savannah called out. The NPCs scurried away from the catapult as she yanked on the lever, her muscles screaming at the overuse they were having to undergo. But the boulder sailed through the air and impacted another one of their siege instruments. She watched with a small smile as it crumbled, even as the screams of the dying rose up amidst the cacophony of other sounds.

Preparing to issue the order once more, she was stopped in her tracks by @Aalam Abungu issuing another command to her. An escort to the front lines, it seemed. Her stomach immediately dropped and, if possible, her face became pale, her eyes wide and showing too much white. She was so small though! And she couldn’t…she didn’t even know…but it didn’t matter. One of the grunts who had been working on the catapult with her was already tugging at her arm, pointing off at a distant figure and telling her to hurry.

She was outpaced by the NPCs, but she still managed. As they ran, she equipped her halberd in her hands and came to a skidding halt in front of @Emerath Katou .

Emerath? she yelled over the noise of the battle around them. I’m Savannah, nice to meet you. We’re going to the front lines to blow these attackers to smithereens. I’ll protect you, so don’t worry. Just move when I move and let me cut them down, okay? The Commander says you're our best tinker-er!

Without further ado, she grit her teeth, exhaled, and led the way from the battlements and onto the actual floor of the battle.

With the help of @Claire Thalassa, so went the snow boulder, rattling like a rickety roller coaster down towards the hopefully unsuspecting enemies below! Holding her focus, knuckles white with fists held on either side of her head, the arcane charms traced purple hues along the rotating sphere, as it gained momentum. Keeping control of it, she attempted to aim the frosty creation, guiding it's descent. For the first few moments of this, the integration was working splendidly, keeping their arcane snowball on course.

Then an arrow from the skies with harsh precision shattered her focus, soaring down and slashing through a segment of her upper arm. "Yeeesh..." With wide eyes, she quickly collapsed behind a nearby natural barricade, her fists degraded into open palms, clutching to her newly open wound. Peeking out from behind her refuge, she observed their creation plummet off course, crushing some... But not nearly enough.

The charms, flickering their levitating shapes in front of the mage once more, returned. Her plan to use them as arcane time bombs had been, for the most part, a failure, far missing her chance to detonate them in the thick of their enemies. At least the pop had managed to take a few out. Perhaps she had gotten rusty, or maybe the dice of fate were just totally and completely shitting on her plans right now. Either way, she was having quite a poor time handling these enemies...

Kijin fired another shot into the crowd, but for every one that fell, it seemed that another rose to take its place. He let out a ragged breath, stilled his muscles, and trained the crosshairs on another target.

"No good," he murmured. The bolt flew, flesh cracked and split, and blood splattered. The collapsed corpse sloughed off the wall of bodies that seemed to grow exponentially in spite of every effort to the contrary. "We've got to do something different. Soon."

The walls held strong against the battery of boulders and siege weaponry, infantry, and deathseekers. As their numbers grew and the towers lurched closer, Kijin watched their magical wards chip away at every attempt by allied spell cast. Arrows struck and stayed in the wooden planks.

"Alright," he raised his voice, "there's only one way to do this. Melee strikers, with me! Establish a front line and cut down their siege engineers!"

He cast the crossbow aside uselessly and it clattered to the dirt. In the same motion, Kijin vaulted over the threshold and launched himself toward the enemy line.

Arrows buffeted him, lodged in his leathers, and cut small wounds open across his torso. The pain pricked at his consciousness, driving him forward and spurring him into intensity. Kijin tore the katana free of its sheath and brought his blade tight toward the first foe he saw.

It was the beginning of a long, dangerous dance.

Vivian's spell circle had continued to spin around her as it was emblazoned upon the ground. She grit her teeth, a chunk of meat would have ripped from her pretty little face had it not been a moment too soon as she titled her head from the arrow. Those monsters were attempting to scar her pretty little face, "Lucia would not be pleased!" She said through the tight clench of her jaw.

With her arm up, she looked to @Lady Briar , her choice of chaos was flavorful and Vivian knew just what to do to make that chaos blossom. WIth another wave of her hand, she ignited her spell casting to a new level. The wind around her picked up, seizing her power in the form of dark ethereal energy. It burned and coursed through her body as it wrapped around her like an anaconda. Her eyes giving way to the purple menacing energies once more as she turned her efforts outward.

As the chaos ran rampant out towards the Bridge Builders, they had begun to turn on eachother. Shouts were heard as they began to barrage their men with hammers and saws. Vivian laughed as she bent their minds to her will, using the digits from her hand to grasp at their wills. Clenching her fist, the Dementia spell flew threw the ears of those who attempted to drive their wall asunder. Her voice cackled with an ominous tone as Vivian laughed watching her enemies cut through their own ranks causing distress and disarray. They would surely not last long.

Responding to @Kijin Shihaku , Bradwynne, who was then on the wall guarding the archers, shouted, "Yes sir!" as he followed him in moving from the wall to the other side to fight off the siege engineers who would try to make a bridge to penetrate the walls and kill their archers and ballista operators. For him, defending them would crucially decide the war in their favor, since the defenders would need them in order to reach the catapults and the magi of the attacking army. Keeping them alive was his responsibility so that the future of the players in the game would not be hindered by some NPC king who lost his sanity.

As he descended from the walls, he instantly saw the engineers who were trying to build siege ladders so that they could scale the walls. With a kick on the ground, he instantly dove towards them, when numerous arrows struck him on every part of his body. He was momentarily stopped, but as he removed the arrows on his body, he let out a defiant shout, "DO YOU THINK THESE ARROWS WOULD HURT ME?!" But deep inside, he was experiencing excruciating pain, but as he tried to forget all of the pain coursing through his body, his anguish turned into fury as he hacked every engineer he saw into bits and pieces with his katana.

He had sent the other players to a different location it seemed that they were going to hold out. They were able to rally to take down the units that were constructing the bridge for the battering ram. He had taken a few shots at their opposing line and was able to take down a few, however, so far it hadn’t been enough they were still advancing on the gate. He needs to make sure that they were going down and wasn’t about to get back up. Pulling out one of the heavy steel tip arrows from his quiver and aiming. He had to take a few minute outside of the protection of the wall to get a good shot. Those arrows could punch through most armour but they were heavy and could quickly go off aim, he had to make sure that each shot count.

So he stayed still as arrow rain down around him a few nicked his face and on almost buried itself in his shoulder but he didn’t move. Taking sight of the soldiers carrying the battering ram and nocking back the arrow, then in a flash he released it sending two more in rapid-fire succession. Taking out that battering ram and stopping there advance on that front. “That takes care of that back behind that walls move out.”

Emerath had heard the call for a change in strategy, and the desire for Emerath to make his way to the gate to defend it. He slid from his ballista as he looked to the Commander, a his heart pounding hard in his chest at the idea that he really was important to this part of the war. Such a short time as a part of Terrasphere, and already the man was able to do his part.

But these thoughts were for later, as a small woman ran up to Emerath, and he puzzled out that this was the woman that @Aalam Abungu had wanted to escort him to the gate. Not forgetting his manners, Emerath gave a bow, as an arrow whizzed past his head, and then stood up saying, "I am indeed Emerath, it is a pleasure. I'll follow your lead, so let's get to that gate."

He stayed close behind her, and felt a bit safer in the area leading down to the gate. Though it had appeared once they got down to the gate itself, that the main danger had passed from the bridge team being stopped. Emerath looked up to the top of the wall, despite not being able to see anything but wall, and grunted lightly. "Didn't leave much for us, did they?" he commented, though there was no malice in the statement. In fact, the man was glad. "Here, let's get this wood repaired in the meantime. I should be able to handle this part, but I'd appreciate if you'd stick with me in case something unexpected happens."

As Emerath said this, he started to push some of the wood back into place and pull some tools out of his pack. As he pushed the splintered wood, he felt an arrow whiz by his ear. Idly, he put a hand up to it and it came back with a bit of red on his fingers as a light sting worked its way through the side of his head. "I'm not going to count that as unexpected. I should just keep my head away from the holes."

With the Bridge Builders took care of, everyone went back in defending the walls. In his honesty, he would have join to defeat the builders. But considering his low defenses at the moment despite his new protection with his new coat and boots, it would have been his downfall due to the risks in order to eliminate them. Also, his spells may have a big factor for this war, so even if he wasn't recognized to everyone, he knew that just using them will lower the chances of losing the siege.

Still waiting for @Sylpha Astarte's reply, he focused back on the army as he continued to cut down the enemy soldiers with his Wind Cutter. "Talk about persistent. I guess that even the king has gone mad, they still follow him blindly to the point of risking their lives for him and his paranoia." To him, it seemed very sick that most of them are willing to throw their lives away to win this siege.
