It was still dusk when you hear the sound of something large walking toward the city of Harbard. The way the ground shook and the sound of threes being mowed down and trampled on alerting you that something massive was coming this way. When you answered Harbard’s emergency call and headed out into the wooded wilderness, with the sun not even peaking above the blood mountain, you saw it… the calamity that was heading your way.

She, if you can call it that, was a massive humanoid spider at least 24 feet tall and much wider. Although she was something that resembled a beautiful giantess once, that was no longer the case. At a glance, you saw nasty black tissues branching all over her body. Her eyes were completely red, which was different than what the local described it as. The legend would have it that she was a beautiful spider queen who ruled over giant spiders residing in the western region of Brisshal. She had mesmerizing golden eyes, not the insidious red it has been replaced with.

According to the locals, these spiders have mostly kept to themselves for the past couple of decades. Although they occasionally caused problem for the human in the area, they have never been outright belligerent.

However, from what you know, the sudden appearance of the Bloodthrone Mountain has tainted the spiders with blood magic, turning them into mindless and voracious predator set on destroying anything in their way. The massive Spider Queen has begun her attack on the city of Harbard, vanquish the blood-infected spider queen.

As the trees shock and the earth itself trembled, Jack paused to stare curiously into the distance. It was strange for such an occurrence to happen, especially on the main road just outside of town. The dark haired mage gave a weary glance to his companion as he motioned off into the distance to gain Astor’s attention. His words were slow and deliberate but a tinge of panic could be heard in the man’s tone.

    “You seeing… what I’m seeing?...”

With great haste, the healer quickly dove into the tree line, concealing himself temporarily as the hulking figure continued to approach. A hand nervously fidgeted with the in-game interface as a message was quickly shot into the world chat with alarm and great haste. “REQUESTING ASSISTANCE OUTSIDE HARBARD – COORDINATES ATTACHED. WORLD BOSS SPOTTED? NOT A JOKE, REQUESTING ASSISTANCE.”

The man sent out several pleas for aid before quickly reverting his attention back to the blond elemental caster at his side. “I got a feeling we should wait for back up… but that ain’t quite your style, right?” He’d crack a wicked grin at Astor while reading himself for what was to come. A cold shiver ran down his spine as anticipation continued to build. Not wanting to agro the boss first, he’d wait for his tank companion to initiate, his spells at the ready.

Alpha stared at the monster that lurker above her, coated by a dress of dense trees and spiders. The locals had talked of the belligerent spiders when she had passed through the area not too long ago, the residents of Harbard reassuring her (during her bout of arachnophobia upon hearing about the possibility of meeting one of the arachnids face to face) that they meant no harm and that they were peaceful and benign. She looked at Terry and the dingo gave a bitter scoff. Alpha dimly wondered how the dingo could do something like that; it sometimes gave her the creeps when he did so, the action being somewhat of an uncanny valley for her.

"Terry, I'm gonna go see if I can get a cut or two in, okay?" she gestured at the dingo to say and, alas, he grumbled and rendered her attempts of keeping him out of harm's way moot. Then, before she could even make a small plan (as much as she would love to charge in as she usually does, she believes that there should be an exception to her general combat rule when facing a creature that was at least 24 feet tall and had the qualities of the same creature that haunts her nightmares) Terry leaped from their spot, ready to take a bite out of the Spider Queen.

"Terry!" she moaned before quickly maneuvering her way through the thicket. As she approached, she ran her dagger across one of the creature's legs to no avail, quickly somersaulting back as she didn't even manage to pierce through the spider's skin. Sweat dripped and her hands felt a bit clammy from anxiety and shaken nerves. "This isn't gonna be too easy, huh?" she asked Terry, the dingo faring no better than she did. She looked back at the giant creature, eyes wide at its height. "Do you think it's too late to quit?"

Aaron perked up when suddenly he received a notification that there was something called a "world boss" available to be fought. From the sound of things, it would take a number of players. As fate would have it, Aaron was even near where it was already! He'd been visiting Harbard just to see what the place was like. He immediately drew his sword and shield. "Time to get involved and be useful about shit!" He said, and made his way in the direction indicated by his notification.

It wasn't long before Aaron could see the large creature. He hated spiders. All the more reason to kill the thing. He raised his sword high and let out a vicious battle cry and charged down toward the beast. However, he was a bit farther than he'd thought, and his momentum and energy stalled him before he even reached the boss. He was at least closer than he was when he began charging, though. Perhaps a bit too close... However, he did see a familiar face up there. "Oh, why hello, ABC. You hear to kill this monstrosity as well?" He asked the girl. He spun his sword slowly and raised his shield to protect himself. "Best get behind me, either way. This thing looks like it can pack a punch." Aaron then whistled and shouted at the boss. "Hey, you big ugly motherfucker! You're going down!"

Magi Heart was running hard with her bow "Love Bringer". Her stats sucked and she had so little experience with the game of Terrasphere. Wendy had no idea just how bad or scary this monster called a World Boss was. It was certainly some kind of really cool big battle thing though! Bosses were supposed to be normally tough but this would be... really tough? Really big? Magi Heart almost did not come but forced herself to find courage. This was it.

Arriving on the battle field she stood in shock. What... was... that...? Ewwww. Magi Heart had to use all of her courage and strength just to look at the thing. If this was not just a game. She'd be scared stiff. This was going to be serious! Then it was time for her to try and be serious too! Magical girls could bring it when they had too after all! Readying her bow to fire at the horrible spider in the distance and trying to remember her spells. Magi Heart began to look for her allies. They were hopefully a lot stronger than her cause she was in big trouble if she was alone!

The time had come for the first great battle for Magi Heart. She had to succeed for her those who counted on her... whoever those were right now.

“I haven’t found any treasure in a week.” Roland grumbled as he searched the forest near the city of Harbard. He had cast his search net much wider than before, hoping to find something of value, but even while using his investigation skill he had found nothing. Silently he stroked the egg he had in his pocket thinking back to his previous discovery. “Maybe the spots are extremely rare after all, it would explain why I wasn’t able to find anyone else with one of these.”

Roland’s thought were immediately cut off by a sudden rumble in the forest. “Wh-“ he exclaimed as he quickly began to lose his footing, “What’s going on here?” The thunderous sound of trees being pulled from their slumber was his answer, as he turned with a gasp to take in the giant spider queen barreling towards him. Without time to think Roland quickly dashed out of the way as the giant monster tore through the wooded area before him, sending up large chunks of half fallen trees to her side as she did so.

Standing dazed in the wake of its destruction Roland took to the world channel sending out a plea for help, only to see he had been late in doing so. After a quick glance, Roland realized this was the start to a world event of some sorts, and somehow he had managed to be just in the right spot for it. Throwing caution to the wind he grit his teeth and ran forward chasing the queen while brandishing his trusty copper sword. After a few moments he was able to catch up to her, mainly due to the fact that she had leveled a pretty easy path in her wake.

Despite the fact that he strode nearby, trying to find a good attacking position was difficult as her pace was near impossible to keep up with while dodging the various debris that flew his way. Roland could do little but bide his time, hopping a long side of her. Suddenly he spotted a lucky tree stump a few feet ahead. Thinking quickly, he hit the stump at an odd angle before pushing himself off propelling him to the spider’s legs which he lashed out at with great intensity. The blade skidded against the arachnid’s hardened black carapace, dealing slight damage before Roland was forced to jump back, out of the way of an incoming tree branch.

Sera grimaced, staring at the large spider monstrosity... thing. She hated spiders, hated them with a passion. She spoke her contact phrase and her prism floated into existance beside her. "So it looks like everyone is working together to kill some evil spider lady," she said to it. "I think that's a worthy enough goal to get behind, don't you?" She asked the prism - or more specifically, the beings it allowed her to contact.

"Anyway, spiders are supposed to burn in hell. That's where they all belong, to the last. So I'm going to go ahead and say I need a nice solid fireball, don't you think?" She asked the prism. She began to chant, placing her left hand against the prism and her right hand she would point toward the spider, the ring aimed directly at the creature's center mass. As her chant went on, a ball of fire would grow in the air before Sera's fist. Once it was finished, the fireball would launch forward. As luck would have it, the attack would strike the beast, and Sera let out a shout of joy. She frowned however, when it didn't seem like the attack had done any crazy amount of damage. "Oh, well we're going to need a lot more of those," she muttered.

Wow, that’s a huge bitch. Astor thought to himself as he finally arrived at Harbard after the emergency world chat broadcast. It was the first world boss anyone has ever encountered in game and shit was the scale ridiculously grand. The fact that he could feel the ground shook as he ran toward the direction of the Spider Queen was evident that this encounter was no joke. Granted, he hasn’t been spending the last several months idly sitting around either. He has gotten his hands on a powerful tome, which had an unusually wimpy name despite its stat. It cost him a chunk of change via a trade, but he can see how useful it has become now.

When he is finally in view of the spider queen, he whipped his head back and forth, assessing the battlefield, making sure he was at a distance where he could hit her from without being hit back. He concluded that standing diagonal to where she was facing was the most optimal positioning for now. Once he was at the place that was close enough to hit the spider queen, but far enough to avoid her rampage, he opened his tome and began reciting an incantation while his hand was pressing against the opened page.

“Nahz agula ventis ofos meludiah aluda”

After he finished his chant, Astor could feel fiery energy beginning to collect at his palm, ready to let loose the moment he willed it to. Holding his firing arm with his free hand, he made sure to aim for the spider queen, avoiding all of the trees that were in the way.

Once he felt that he had reached the optimal aim, he let the fireball loose, which zipped through the air with fury, heating up the surrounding air until he hit the giant spider queen right on the face. He had never seen such a perfectly aimed fireball before and the direct hit on that nasty spider face pleased him immensely. Even from where he was, he could hear the spider queen screaming internally, most likely swearing to eat him and his first born for that clean hit.

Ortix walked the long road between towns desperately trying to escape his boredom. "Bloop! Bloop! Bloop! Bloop!" The chat began to blow up with bright red text, a call to arms it was. Another player was requesting aid for some kind of "World Boss" as he called.

"Well I already missed out on one huge event, there's no way in hell i'm skipping out on this!" Ortix made a 180 and turned his walk into a sprint in the direction of Harbard City. He wasn't too far now, he could hear hurried shouts and see a couple glimmering streaks of light followed by explosions. Ortix could hardly stop from trembling with excitement. He could now clearly visualize the boss. She was truly massive and seemed to be surrounded by an air of death and ruin. Ortix wouldn't let this deter him though, he turned the anxiousness into adrenaline as he regained momentum starting up another sprint directly at the behemoth's side. He brandished his spear, spinning it in his off hand before tossing it back to his right hand. He was just a few meters away from her now, her cold steel carapace and even colder eyes which seemed to pierce her victims' very souls. Ortix, however felt no immediate threat as he swooped in from her blind spot weaving around craters left by her foot steps. He had his eyes locked on his target, it was a chink in her armor. In the middle of each of her legs, Ortix noticed a joint at which her carapace got thinner. His smile grew ear to ear and his eyes widened, this is the feeling he wanted from Terrashpere all along. Ortix took one final step before leaping into the air with a spin and extending his spear outward. The tip of his spear even though fully extended barely reached it's high up target. It let out a sharp "Chrrrink!" as a small shard of her carapace broke off, leaving but a small crack which marked where Ortix began his assault.

Mother of all things holy, what was she looking at? She wasn't really averse to bugs, oh they bothered her and she would usually run away when facing a flying cockroach or a large spider, but something this big was a first to her. A part of her wanted to run away, but the flood of texts and information implied that this was something they had to deal with.

She wondered if like most games, failing to handle this monster had no repercussions, but it was a passing thought. Being the busy-body she was, there was just simply no way Amalia wouldn't get involved in this business.

Clutching a portion of her skirt in both hands, she scurried down a path, following the train of adventurers and NPC that were oogling the sight until she was finally close enough to see that there were people contending with the monster. Some of them she even recognized, surprisingly enough. There was no time for greetings however, there were adventurers already upon the enemy and Amalia wasn't about to waste any more time gawking.

She hastily pulled out her instrument, set it against her neck and shoulders and mentally rummaged through the songs at the top of her head. Something that would increase the ferocity of the attacks from her allies, which song would be appropriate?

    Ah, that one would do.

Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. It seemed like a strong enough piece for what she intended. Looking over which allies she could reach from where she stood, she prepared herself mentally, taking in a long and deep breath before she committed, unleashing the power of song.

Though her fingers still seemed to suffer from decline as the game refused to properly process her ability in real life, she compensated, changing the tempo, modifying the score, adapting where she could apply a flourish or two, but before long the song would build, billowing out from her like water surging from a bursting dam. The song's magic would wash over those hit, emboldening them and more...

    Arachna Attacks!

As the assault on the tainted Spider Queen rages on, more adventurers have started to show up, but up until now she hasn’t bothered dealing with the pesky ants at her feet. However, when a fireball hits her clean in the face, she became triggered. The blood magic was amplifying her aggression by tenfold, making such an act intolerable.

Letting out a blood curdling scream that completely silenced the morning birds, Arachna stopped moving. Instead, she parted and opened her arms wide, fully extending them at her side before she leaned her torso downward and began to sweep her long, razor-blade arms inward, mowing down any trees and poor saps who might have been in the way.

After the attack, she let out another ferocious roar as blood began to leak from hundreds of the volcano-shaped sores dotting her body.

Attack: Anyone who is close and located form E to W (semi-circle) will take 20 damage subtract your HP in your next post). Anyone who is in N - close, will take an extra 10 damage (so 30 in total @Aaron Marone ).

OOC: Remember to be under 400 words and only post once every 4 hours. Multiple characters that you own can join the event as long as they have an inventory tracker.

Roland jumped back after his sword connected to the arachnid’s leg. “Damnit.” He thought, “This thing’s skin is rock hard I’m not sure if that had any effect to it at all.” Taking a moment to catch his breath he checked the world channel again. Apparently there were others in this fight, but he had yet to see them. He sent a brief message indicating his presence behind the behemoth hoping he wouldn’t have to stay back here alone.

So far I'm the only one back behind it.

He was quick and to the point, as large as she was, she covered a lot of ground quickly, which meant he didn’t have a lot of time to stand idly by less he be left in the dust. Swiftly he moved back towards the giant spider, but as he did so he heard a faint call. It was classical music from a time period long ago and it filled him with a feeling of urgency pushing onward to the spider. Emboldened by the surge of music Roland leaped nimbly through the fallen foliage coming rapidly upon the spider queen. Unlike before he quickly found a series of fallen trees that he used as stairs which he hastily used to send him flying up to the side of the queen as he swiped his blade in a lopsided arc connecting with the spiders thorax with a loud "THUD" causing a small amount of red blood to leak slowly from the small scratch.

Roland rolled to the ground only to be deafened by the blood curdling scream that came after... It seemed the spider queen was not happy.

She felt buzzed. No, rather, she was buzzed. That much was a fact. She should be sleeping, she was a light-weight after all, a few cans of beer tended to be more than enough to put her out for the night, but somehow she couldn't sleep and not for a lack of trying. She rolled from side to side, assumed every position she could think of, swapped over from one pillow to the other, but even that had failed.

Seeing no hope, she decided to log-in, see how the game was doing without her. Only for her to find herself appearing underneath the shadow of this giant spider woman. The initial shock was enough for her to freeze up, but she noticed a familiar friend, good old Astor chucking his firecracker spells on that thing like his life depended on it.

A hiccup left her lips, her face flushed red, but who cared. If he was attacking this thing, it was proably something she was supposed to kill anyway. Grinning from ear to ear, she took her trash tiered weapon and charged at the monster, her unsteady steps bringing her within the creature's range and once she was sure she was close enough to engage in melee she swung with all the force she could muster...

Only to fall flat on the ground.

Gods, was her hand-to-eye coordination that bad? Had she misjudged the distance? No, no, that couldn't be! This thing had to be cheating. Furious she shook a fist at the thing before flashing it a middle finger, her tongue stuck outwards. Right how was she supposed to taunt the thing again. She knew it was an option, but did she have to bring up a menu or...

Nah, she probably actually had to trash talk.

“Yoooooo! Yooooooooo! Look here youuuuuu!” she shouted, cupping a hand to her cheek while waving her shield at the creature like a flag. “Your momma so fat, she can blot out the sun!”

Dempsey had heard Jack Anders urgent call for assistance, and had made her way to the scene of the conflict. Upon seeing the Bloodied Queen with her own eyes, she understood the urgency of the call. It towered over over the small city, and looked absolutely terrifying, even without being framed by a blood red dawn sky above a village in chaos.

She crept closer and decided to let the firs wave or attackers try their luck without her. She had no idea what she was getting into, and valued her own life over the claim to the right of saying she was the first to draw blood. As if a shadow, she crept from shadow to shadow, using the cover of the village and surrounding forest to mask her presence for as long as possible, until she decided it was time to strike. As the hideous thing reared up and let lose another attack, she charged from concealment and leapt, opening a wide but relatively small gash on the things abdomen.
