Witnessing the raw strength of this monster was almost too much. Any closer and she felt like she would've frozen up, but apparently she was safe... if only for the moment. Something this big probably had other tricks up it's sleeve, however planning for that was a fool's errand. She wasn't a party leader, nor had she ever seen a monster quite like this in the game, boss or not. It was unfortunate, but it looked like the best bet they really had against it was throwing as much damage as they could heap on it until it broke down from the unrelenting assault...

But still... a part of her was bothered by such a simple approach.

“Isn't there any kind of weak spot on the thing? Most animals have it, its a spider isn't it? Aren't the eyes or the bulb vulnerable?” insects were vulnerable to flame too, but it didn't actually look like their resident pyromancer was doing phenomenally better than everyone else. It was a little infuriating, but perhaps they would need to wither it down, like setting metal to the grindstone.

Alright, she had to concentrate on what she could do. She closed her eyes for a second, allowing the song to end before she brought up the image of another score to mind. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik could work for her intended purpose. The spirited sonata-allegro seemed docile at first, but while it sounded very delicate and sophisticated, the sudden crescendo was moving in it's bold introduction.

Besides, it was a song that had been drilled into her when she was seven. She'd practiced it half a year for a recital, she could play this song in her sleep. Surely something she could play by muscle memory was a better choice than something more demanding in the face of a giant monster.

Alpha looked back at Terry, huffing as they barely managed to get away from death's door. The arthropod had, in its anger at that admittedly funny fireball to the face, began slashing away with its sharp claws, making incisions in the earth and slicing through trees cleanly like a stick of "Can't Believe It's Not Butter!". Terry gave a whine and, confusedly, she looked down to see what worried him so. A bright red, dotted line was gashed across her stomach, thin and definitely not fatal. She didn't know whether to give a sigh of relief that it wasn't worse or a sigh of annoyance that, once she noticed the injury, it stung like a paper cut. Let it be known that Alphabet Chocolate did not like cuts.

On that same line of thought, she could hear some sort of melodious singing from behind her. It filled her with rigor as she surveyed the field, detecting some familiar faces. And, right as she was looking around, she noticed Aaron next to her. "Yup!" she said, panting with an excited grin on her face. "Terry's here to help out too!" she laughed as the pup ignored the gigantic creature looming over them in favor of giving Aaron a few kisses. She turned her attention back to the Spider Queen and, with her dagger in hand, rushed forward.

The sound of tearing paper could be heard from a short distance as Alpha, through some difficulty, managed to butcher through part of the Arachnid's lower leg. To a creature of that size, the gash was no more than a nuisance. To Alpha, it was a victory. "Woohoo!" she cheered.

Magi Heart was nervous as heck! This was exactly the kind of thing that she did not want to fight in these games... nasty, big, ugly, gross, stupid, mean, thingy! It was so lucky that she had decided to go with a ranged build for her character because she did not want to get anywhere near that thing. Hearing the messages being passed back and forth between the participating players and the spells blowing up nearby showed that the battle was underway. Should Magi Heart shoot at the giant ugly spider woman thing? Would that... make it come after her? Wendy decided not to test that out. It looked like the others were doing enough on the offense without her so... she would focus on helping and just keep away from the nightmare fuel.

But what exactly to do? The battle cries continued as the magical girl wannabe stood there with her finger to her mouth thinking. Hmmmm.... the rustling of the trees after a massive claw swipe attack from the boss awoke her from her indecisiveness. She needed to just throw out something, yeah! Focusing her awesomely cool heart powers, Magi Heart put her hand to her chest while holding her bow in the other. She glowed gently white before raising her hand up into the air. Quickly picking the first person she could think off. She would add her magical power to theirs!

Dude, where the hell you at? Oh, never mind. I see the fire, bahahah! I’m west of the boss, midway out-ish! Swing on by.
    @Astor Balthas

The healer let out a laugh as he’d watch the first couple of barrages assault the boss. Though the spider creature itself was perhaps a bit more ugly and realistic than he liked, he found pleasure in the fact that it’s hp bar was slowly but surely being whittled away by their efforts. It’s lack of retaliation made his life easy as well, at least for the time being until he jinxed it of course.

A slow yawn sounded from the man’s lips as he’d raise a hand to search for his companion who had spotted the monstrosity with him. The yawn was abruptly interrupted however as the boss had finally made its move! With a fierce and starting roar, its arms had raised and swung inward with a vicious blow. “Well shit, guess I jinxed myself. Time to get busy…”

As the various player health bars began to drop bit by bit, he’d notice that the current tank’s had dropped slightly more than the others. Jack would shout, giving a brief warning to the others before initiating his spell cast. “Hey! Stay away from the tank! Looks like that sweep attack hurts more front and center!” His chanting then proceeded as he’d whisper a few words under his breath with great haste.

    “Ande thoras ethil.”

A warm and soothing light would envelop three players (@Aaron Marone @Alphabet Chocolate @Ortix Farlin) as their health bars would slowly tick back up.

    Arachna Attacks!

As the assault continues to rain down on the tainted queen, she lets out yet another ear piercing wail of agony that sends a shiver down your spine! More wounds quickly accumulate as blood trickles out from her figure in some places while others wounds cauterize over crack back open upon any wild movements.

Her attention had been yanked away however by the slur of verbal abuse from a seemingly inebriated player. Her head twists unnaturally to view the new target of her aggression as the great spider torso slowly rotates on position atop those carapaced legs. Now facing south her attacks were renewed with even greater vigor!

Her front insectoid legs raised up with great effort, the tips glinting dangerously in the light as she did so. A strange hissing sound seethed from her lips as she slammed down furiously and pincered the target before her eyes, wounding them grievously. Their life meter quickly faded from a healthy green to a much more alarming color!

The queen's assault wasn't finished however. As part of one swift simultaneous movement, her arms again parted wide, fully extending them at her side before she leaned her torso downward and began to sweep her long, razor-blade arms inward, mowing down any trees and poor saps who might have been in the way.

Attack 1: The Spider Queen crashes down in a pincer attack on the main target of her ire. @The Wall will take 150 damage.

Attack 2: Anyone who is close and located from E to W (semi-circle) will take 20 damage subtract your HP in your next post). Anyone who is in S - close, will take an extra 10 damage (so 30 in total @The Wall ).

With an explosion of rage, the spider's arms made a wide swing. Ortix was just unlucky enough to be in the range of the beast's attack. In an attempt to block the ferocious swing, he put up his spear. The sheer force of the swing sent flying Ortix a couple of yards back. The blood with oozed from it's skin flung off it's arm. A speeding globule of it hit him directly in the the face. He tried his best to wipe it from his eyes, but it was to no avail, his vision was temporarily blurred. Nevertheless, Ortix picked himself up off the ground to go in for another attack. He stared at the Spider Queen looking for a weak spot he could dig his way into. Suddenly he felt his grip get tighter around his spear and his heart began to beat faster. He began to glow with a tingly feeling, the bleeding from his arms had stopped and the wounds shrunk. He looked to his right to see a girl casting upon him and then from the opposite side of the spider was another man doing the same. "So this is the essence of raids, huh." he thought to him self.

"Keep up the good work, I'm going in again!" He laughed as he hustled closer to the boss once more. Ortix drew his spear back at the ready for another thrust when Spider Queen's legs began to shift. This time they moved in the opposite direction catching him far off guard. Ortix was already committed to the attack but with his vision still blurred from the sting of her blood and a massive spider arm on its way, he could hardly manage to graze the beast before it swept him back up into the air. Only able to put up a guard with one arm this time, the attack hooked Ortix and took him for a ride. It sent him several yards back this time, tumbling until he came to a stop sprawled out on the ground. Back to the ground, he lifted one fist into the air and shouted:

"I'm gonna beat this thing to a pulp or die trying!" He rolled over onto his side and heaved himself off the ground, readying for the behemoth's next attack.

Astor can’t exactly see what the Spider Queen was hitting, but the crunching sound of her razor-sharp claw crushing down on one of the tanks after she did a 180 degree turn gave Astor chills that ran down his spine. Alright, alright, let’s think about this rationally. The detective thought to himself. He can’t just throw fireballs left and right and expect to hit the boss through all of these thick trees. Since the spider is now facing away from him, her rear is exposed, which gives him the opportunity to close the distance and get in a fireblast or two.

While he was sprinting head first toward the boss’ backside, he could hear an inspiring song, which gave him a +4 damage boost. Looking around, he was able to spot a cute blond girl playing her violin. Raising his hand up over his head, he waved at @Amalia Leblanc and gestured a thank you as he continued onward. By the time he was up-close at the boss’ back side, he could feel someone else buffing him, which overrode the smaller buff before. Hovering over the status icon, he say someone unfamiliar to him was the source of the buff.

Thanks for the buff, I don’t know who you are, but I’ll buy you a drink if we manage to roast this bitch.

Afterward, he opened his grimoire and began chanting, “Vindarh vende anzala norath… fus fen zadah!”

Holding the closed magical book in one hand, Astor aimed his free hand at the Spider Queen’s spider part as a torrent of fire spewed forth in a cone shape, which should have set her lesion-infested skin ablaze along with any plant life unfortunate enough to get caught with in the stream of fire.

But of course he missed and hit a squirrel instead. Cursing at his fate, Astor quickly hightailed out of range in case his miss somehow drew her ire.

The queen had suddenly erupted in a variety of blood blisters that covered her in a sheen of red. Unsure of the cause, Roland visibly shook in fear due to the monster’s dramatic transformation and subsequent attack. “This thing is unreal…” is all the could think of as another player arrived sending a barrage of insults in the spider’s wake.

“Do you really think it understands you?” Roland questioned as soon as she finished her long line of abuse, and as if in response the spider queen suddenly ripped herself around 360 degrees facing The Wall and unleashing a powerful attack with her front legs pinning her target on the ground. Roland screamed in rage trying to rush to her defense, only to be caught by surprised by the queen’s –other- arm which came slicing inwards as his position. Vainly he tried to bat away the attack with a swipe of his sword, but was instead knocked forward into the debris with a loud ‘thump’ taking 20 damage.

As the attack ended Roland grit his teeth standing up once more, and tried to move again to the side of the beast hoping the other player still lived, “I can’t help her directly.” Roland thought, “The best thing I can do is just try to attack the creature with all my might.

Alpha felt her wound beginning to stitch itself up, a soothing wave of peace filling her as it healed. The pain vanished and there was nothing left but a slightly dull ache of where the wound had once been bleeding. It wasn't entirely gone but had closed up and was no longer actively a throbbing wound of hurt. Upon seeing who had healed her, however, turned her grateful smile into a bitter one. Despite accepting Jack's authority, she still did not fully trust him and, well, accepting someone's position of power isn't the same as actually liking them, right? Terry was a bit wiser than her and ignored the man in favor of concentrating on the Spider Queen. Her back was faced to them, which would be great for a surprise attack while she was bashing someone else.

She nodded and, with Terry, she ran forward once again with dagger ready to slash into the Spider Queen's behind. "Be careful," she panted as the dagger failed to pierce through the monster's thick outer layer. She wasn't sure what areas of the Spider Queen was thin and weak enough for her blade to pass through, but right now hit-and-miss worked fine for her (even if she was a tad bit unlucky in finding and choosing weak spots).

A frantic look was given as Jack’s eyes continued to dart back and forth between the various wavering health bars and his message notifications. One bar in particular had caught his attention, specifically the one flashing a dangerous red. Upon looking though, he’d find himself staring at a newbie geared in practically all trash items from spawning in. A heavy sigh was made as he’d shake his head to inform his friend of the situation.

After deciding his course of action, the healer swiftly went to work, channeling his energies directly into restoring the person’s severely shortened life bar (@The Wall ). A warm light would seep into the woman while nulling her pain and hopefully sobering her up to a degree. He’d then call out to the other healers in an effort to better coordinate their energies.

The dark haired man’s eyes continued to survey the battle field while assessing the situation. Given the nature of that last ability, chances were high it’d be a while before they’d see it again. Ideally however a second front liner would take over in order to provide the supports respite.

Aaron cursed as the attack from the spider struck him head on. It dealt over 10% of his entire health in that one hit alone. However, it wasn't long before he saw his health start to tick up again as a golden shine enveloped him. "Thanks, Jack!" Aaron called out.

Aaron watched as the spider decided to turn away from him and attack another play on the other side. This atfack seemed particularly deviating, and Aaron winced at the pain the player must have felt.

Aaron scowled. He swung his sword at the creature's leg, but the attack bounced off harmlessly. He took a step back. "We might need to fall back, get her out of the woods a bit," Aaron called. He slammed his sword against his shield and shouted. "Hey! Hey you big ugly piece of crap! When you hit me earlier, was that supposed to hurt? Cause it felt like a gentle caress, you weak insect!" He taunted. He still had a decent bit of his health, he could afford to take another round of hits, even one of the stronger ones like that. At least he hoped.

Sera surveyed the battlefield as best as she could. The creature seemed to be taking a decent number of hits. It was pretty likely though that it would be able to keep fighting for some time now. Sera frowned. If it was going to be keep fighting, she needed to make sure everyone else kept fighting too. Even as she decided that, a notification popped up that she had received a message from Jack Anders. "Who?" She wondered. But his request was simple - help heal the tank he was healing. That's what Sera had already decided to do anyway, so she wouldn't make a complaint about it.

"Right then," Sera said. "Roy, time for some illumancy." The prism began to brightly glow all seven if its colors in such a mesh that it would potentially appear to be putting off white light. She stuck out her hand and began to chant. She felt the energy of the magic flow out from her prism and to her ring, where it gathered in preparation to be cast. "Right, make good use of this health, then!" She said as she released the spell. @The Wall would feel health and life flood into her, and possibly hear the word "live" echo around her.

Dempseys surprise attack went as well as one could hope, but that is where her luck ended. She paused momentarily to wipe evil spider queen blood from her forearm and looked up just in time to see the things massive claws swinging in her direction. Her instinct was simply to dodge at first, but then she realized that the bard off in the other direction had gifted her with some kind of empowering buff. She changed her mind at the last second, and instead attempted another attack.

Her plans all were sound in her head, but didn't pan out the way she'd hoped. As soon as she started moving toward the thing, she was caught off guard by one of the spider queens chitinous arms, and knocked from her feet. She saw that a newcomer she hand't yet met had taken the worst of it, but she would definitely have a few bruises, and possibly a cracked rib from the impact anyway. Realizing that there were tanks to either side of the boss creature, she screamed in frustration at the stupidity of it all and rushed for cover to the east to regain her bearings and catch her breath.

Amalia's concentration wavered at the sight of a fully armored, shield bearing girl take the brunt of a pincer attack from the monster. She seemed to crumple at the force of the blow, how she was still alive after that vicious strike was beyond the bard's imagination but she quickly set her eyes back on the people she was working on, though not before giving Astor a firm cordial nod.

As the battle continued it was becoming evident however that their lack of coordination was starting to affect the tide of this fight – and not in their favor. They needed to get the methodology of this monster's attack figured out soon if they were to survive this battle any longer than they could.

Speaking of, she noticed the health bar of someone who's face was familiar to her dip into dangerous territory. She didn't get along with Dempsey very well, at least on their fist meeting and while her respect for the feline-girl had improved a little, it was still likely going to take something tremendous to turn her opinion of Fabijain for the better.

But this was a battle where she couldn't allow her feelings to affect her better judgment. The cat woman was in danger and most of their resources were being diverted to the tanks, while the damage dealers were abundant on this world, that didn't mean they were disposable.

She changed her song to a more mellow tune and concentrated upon the cat-woman, another wounded man and that rouge who'd taken a beating earlier, turning her instrument their way just as she brought the bow to the strings to play the first sweet notes of this haunting classic.

It was a long night at the lab. Elizabeth almost did not venture into this dimension today. What with the work looming on both planes becoming more time consuming. Yawning the dark witch materialized into Terrasphere... Imediately her ears were bombarded with loud shouts and explosions... what in the name of the dark gods themselves was going on? Had the world fallen into anarchy overnight? That would be fabulous! Then over the treetops a large and rather unappealing spider woman could be seen. Oh... now things make more sense. Merkaba took a moment to check her current powers and equipment. Yawning a bit with her hand over her mouth. Yes... this monster was going to be a great experiment of how she is doing with her dark mana control.

Closing her menu and heading towards the creature. Merkaba wondered where it came from? It would be interesting to see if it had any underlings that were worth subduing for her own use. Being a creature of the dark itself and all. As she strode casually forward, she swung her hand in front and a black cloud turned into her scythe. Swinging it back downward as she continued on. Seeing the man she recognized as Jack Anders in her way. She gently touched his shoulder and would glide past him without a look. As if telling him he should get behind her or more so to leave the fight to her.

"Well now. I had a long night so let's start lightly and go from there shall we?"

Merkaba raised her left hand and chanted a few short words. A large orb of purple energy floated from it and off in front of her. Gently pushing it with her finger she would send it crashing towards the Spider Queen. It seemed ito do little if anything to it. A smile almost appeared on the witches face. She gathered energy again in preparation to repeat the attack.

Merkaba's first attack did no damage.
