A crackling in the distance could be heard as the area surrounding the battle began to grow dark. A sudden roar of thunder reverberated the room along with a bright blue flash that blinded those in the immediate vicinity. The blinding light disappeared as soon as it had come revealing the duel wielding swordsman known as Roland. "You know..." he said with a snarl, "It's rude to suddenly go off for revenge without inviting others along." Roland paused moving his gaze to Theo (the evil one), "But don't worry.. "he said cooly, "I'll take my frustration out on this guy..."

Slowly Roland walked forward trailing his blades behind him as he menacingly shot sparks from their tips, "Tell you what old man, you show me where the king is and I let you live..." Again Roland paused clearly thinking before adding, "I think it was something like Lord Thumb. Or something like that." Donning a mischevious smile the swordsman suddenly sprinted forward, his movements clearly enhanced by aeromancy, and delivered a very quick 1-2 blow combo with both his swords aiming for Theo's sword in a bid to disarm him

It did not take long for the king who just finished talking about honor in battle also broke his own rule by one of his disciples, servants or whatnot, lending a powerful arrow attack to the mix. Minerva steeled herself and used a move she had learned on her journey.

    "Aegis..."

Minerva said almost under her breath as the arrow collided with her now shimmering body that was drenched in a golden aura. Sparks flew until eventually the energy arrow dissipated. Minerva felt the power of the arrow however. These opponents were among the stronger that she had encountered... yet she was not ready to say the one who brought her here was correct. Never, she was going to rise above this. It was a matter of resolve, battle tactics... and power. Hopefully her allies at the moment were up to par.

    "Vanguard... rise!"

She raised her sword to the air and gave some of her aegis shield's power to @Gwyn ap Herne and @Alphabet Chocolate. She could not let them die in vain. Not while she was present.

She was not the only one to support the Princes. A naturemancer she had seen and fought on the same side as also went to the aid of the fallen Princes. Their joint efforts had roused the woman back to consciousness and she gave out a very , very important and viable enemy information.

Inwardly she cursed, but outwardly she said nothing, appearing worried for the AI created character and what she informed everyone of… Gwyn’s words were another problem; so killing the enemy Cleric was not viable action; that was bad.

Did anyone here have Muse? She knew this could put the woman to sleep and stop her from healing her allies.

But then it was time for the enemy to attack and react. She gasped, seeing the old king just moved and he attacked; the shield actually spat back the fire attack that Astor cast and it hit everyone; before it did though, she covered the Princess hoping to take the burn of the damage.

Next, wind sliced into them and pushed them around. She found herself in different place, wincing bit at the painful, but not really threatening slices. Astor was pushed away, but he looked fine, if hit harder than she was. his health was still in acceptable levels.

“Anyone is a Muse?” She asked, almost desperately, then checked the health bars. They were good still, one tank got healed up and @Roland Rutledge was attacking.. Dealing quite a lot damage, but he could always deal more. The same words of Power were spoken, the target different this time. “Bumba. Etwüre. Borrë!” Light sank into Roland bolstering his attack.

Then she glanced to see if the Princess was faring well and if the sword was glowing. Should it glow, next time she would try to use the light to blind the man. If not, well, next time she would heal and undo the damage... Especially on Astor. Let the enemy King grow angry at his damage being healed.

Astor witnessed his party giving in to their anger and attempted to attack King Theo directly. Although he would normally object to such actions, seeing as they were not tactically-advantageous, he, more than anyone, sympathized with what the old crone had put them through.

Looking down at his trembling hand, Astor recalled the hell he had to endure because of the demented king. How can someone speak about honor and virtue when he proposed a peace treaty and used it to capture and torture him and his people. When Astor reflected on it, I found every reason to just ice the fuck who had made him suffer in such a way and be done with it. However, he had people relying on him, and an entire nation riding on his back, he can't give in to tempation and needed to make sure they have a home to go back to, by slaying Theodore and his goons.

"I'm going to ice his shield, watch out for the incoming ice spell after he absorb it," Astor yelled out to the rest of the team. Then he turned his attention back to himself as he put his hands near his necklace, using it as a focus to cast another spell.

    "Hym ven thoej asvelrin vesterun..."

    skill
    Chill Blast

After his chant, a blast of ice emitted from his hand, coating the surface of the King's shield until it completely froze the shield and the part of the arm behind the shield.

"Die, die die, scum, you cannot hope to defeat Victor's Lament. Come my beloved sword let us feast on the power of the light!" King Theo shouted as he raised his sword, which began glowing. With a heavy grip on the blade, he brought it down onto @Roland Rutledge (30 damage; 5+10=15*2).

While he dealt with the attack from the large woman and the little girl, he blocked both attack aiming at him. The shield took most of the abuse, resisting the attack. (the shield took 100 damage). At the same time, @Astor Balthas spell froze his shield. However, it absorbed its elemental property, allowing the King to reflect it. He directed the spell at @Gwyn ap Herne rooting her in place for 2 turns.

Archer of Light The still-cloaked archer fired two more arrows that turned into light-bound lances that headed for the most threatening person on the battlefield, which happened to be @Roland Rutledge who did the most damage that round, dealing 48 damage (7+7+10=24*2). Although she did not go out of stealth, the direction the arrows came from was in either zone: 12 or 16.

Cleric of Light The Cleric winced at the pain from @Amane Hirota's arcane orb, which she was vulnerable too, taking twice the damage. Turning her head toward Amane, her face did not have any feature whatsoever; however, everyone could feel her angry glare burning a hole through Amane.

Despite Amane rousing her anger, there was no time to be emotional, so she instead headed to zone 4, where she raised her staff and recited a spell. Considering that it was a powerful spell, she did not manage to finish her casting this turn.

Sorceress of Light The sorceress moved to zone 12, where flipped through her spirit grimoire again. This time, she let out a malicious cackle as she sent a tornado to zone 10, where it did damage to @Seto Kurama @Ilusa Nakhalee @Ashiore Evretto. Since Seto put himself outward to try and intercept the tornado, it sucked him in and blew him out from the top. He fell on his back and crashed in the corner of the room (zone 16).

Feeling as though they were pressed for time, since the invasion had started and the home troop won't be able to hold out for long, Astor did not want to needlessly prolong this fight. Since Theo's shield was either resistant or immune to all physical damage, they had to break it with magic first, so that the heavy hitters like @Gwyn ap Herne @Alphabet Chocolate and @Roland Rutledge can start whittling down Theo's health.

Looking over at @Seto Kurama, he remembered that the Duke specialized in dark magic, perhaps if they could combine it with @Ilusa Nakhalee 's powerful Ilumancy, they might be able to break the shield for the other damage dealer.

"Duke Seto, can you cast a dark spell on the shield? Ilusa, can you hit it with a light spell when it finished adsorbing Seto's dark spell?" Astor yelled out the two people whom might be able to inflict a lot of damage on the shield that seemed like a legendary item of some kind.

Afterward, he focused on his one task...

There was a growl beside her. Without even looking away from the king, she slowly moved her arm and pushed Hector's head down, slowly letting his muzzle dig into the floor without a hint of attention passed his way. "I told you, boy! Down! Sit! Stay! You'll get to nibble on his bones later, kay? Don't want you dying early. I still have to plan a reunion for you and Terry!"

She cracked her knuckles, tilting her head to the side, back, and all around as she looked around the area and whistled. "Oh. Your friends can feel pain. That's kinda cool! How bout we treat them the same way you treated us, y'know? Like, how bout we just slooowlllly torture them! I think Gwyn would so be in on the idea, y'know? Right, buddy?" she giggled, waving to the rooted woman. "But!" she drawled, directing her attention to the king's sword and shield. "We gotta do something bout that, don't we! Okie dokie, Hector. Time for us to shine, got it?"

She flicked her wrist, a bolt of green magic whipping through the air towards Theo's shield...

    "Oh wait!"

She quickly scrambled around, moving to place herself behind @Roland Rutledge as the attack launched...and sizzled out. She coughed awkwardly, eyes shifting away as a blush stained her cheeks. Hector stared at her incredulously. "I might have forgotten that, like, I made that spell under the influence of Butterbeer. It's a party trick."

Her explanation was tinged with embarrassment as a smiley face made of green flickering lights slowly dimmed away out of existence. There were even two malformed hands making a Vulcan 'live long and prosper' sign floating around before it shimmered away. "Let's pretend that never happened and move on, kay?"

Ashiore's eyes widened at the whirlwind that appeared and threw Seto away. She would have to move if she didn't want to end up too far removed from the battle. Taking a step to the side, she glanced over at the shield that they were trying to break down.

She couldn't much to it, but she could try and set up an advantage for someone else to follow. She conjured a bunch of thorns in the air, causing them to quickly streak towards the shield. Most bounced off harmlessly, but the contact was enough to cause the shield to take on the properties of her spell.

Other than the the arrow blasts from the invisible archer. The enemy was doing little other than stalling... Minerva was not completely aware of Astorea's situation but it took little to know that Falderen was the stronger and this was likely a tactic to hold out until the army finished off Astorea's capital.

"I see you are a coward who only hides behind women. Further proof of your folly. I am not from this world and I make a better Hero of Light than you ever would."

She really did not care much for putting on a overly valiant face here. She would hopefully finish this and return to her solo travels. Her Durandal tried to make a quick swing at Theodore's blade to test him. He responded with a parry that caused their blades to tremble.

"That...son of..." Working through the pain, Seto cursed to himself under his breath as he picked himself up from the crater he laid in after being smashed into the ground by that tornado. His back felt like hell but he was going to have to ignore the pain in his back for now and focus on the task at hand. He was thankful to see Ilussia and Ashiore still in one piece, it seemed he was doing his job so far. He needed to quickly rejoin the battle with his allies and provide the support they needed from him. In the corner of his eye, he could see his comrades engaged in close battle with his comrades, amongst one of them casting a nature spell at the King's shield, giving it a weakness to his dark magic. There was a opening for a critical attack so he would need to move quick on his feet If he wanted to take advantage of said weakness. Sheathing his broadsword in it's scabbard, Seto wasted no time in sprinited towards Illusa and Ashiore, gathering the necessary energy required before transferring said energy into his hands. As soon as he got into range, Seto threw his right hand forward into the air and shot off a ball of dark energy towards the Mad King's shield.

“Thank you!” Ilusa yelled to @Seto Kurama who shielded her and Aishore ending up far away. But he mitigated the damage she received a lot. Then she frowned a little. “Wait weren’t he a DPS? Hm. Tank now? I see.” The Felis made a small bow towards him, as she decided to definitely put him higher in the importance list for healing. Of course first she would heal Roland; the moment it was safe to do so that is..

Afterwards everyone focused on hitting the King, or attempting to. And seeing the glowing sword, so did she. The spell was; unfamiliar. New, high tier.

The words she spoke were halting, unsure and the light that raced towards the king was bit wobbly, and yet should it hit it surely would hurt.

      +23 Final Turn
      Rooted: One Turn Remains

While the shield might have devoured her strike, it was just another step closer to the stripping the mad king of his illusory victory. Whatever insistent delusion had him thinking this ended any other way than what the huntress demanded could run its course. She'd see and revel in the dawn of defeat in his eyes or he'd fall as lost in his false world nested in another as he lived. She didn't care. She just wanted his blood and his last breath and justice for her Kitten. For the Yladians. For all the imprisoned, from her allies of Astorea to the locked away bard. For the druids who had marks upon their heads, the slaves both Elven and Faerin. For poor Naixi, Ursa, and Beretta.

The others focused on the shield and though her eyes drifted to the other archer across the way, they refocused where they should. The king had to fall, there was no time for anything else. More magical strikes lashed out. The shield and the air shimmered with the effects in a game of elemental musical chairs and she couldn't help but laugh as the shield finally broke.

If it sounded a bit desperate and a bit unhinged, so be it. Alphabet's words concerned some stable part of her, but at the moment it was secondary. She bore her teeth at the king and him alone. The heavy draw weight of the gilded bow fought back as she drew her arm back. The fletching that was once feathers turned stiff frills of ferns from Alpha's Naturamancy buff brushed her cheek gently. It cooled some of the horrific heat burning in her jaw from how tightly her teeth were clenched. She could feel the magic power behind her shot fading and let the last of its kind fly.
