    After the War War Relief

In the aftermath of the invasion it seemed the city has been plunged into chaos as people struggled to return to their old lives; however, soldiers who fought to defend the walls had it the hardest. The number of injured soldiers desperately needing medical attention and other services kept increasing as the day went on. Considering the lack of space, Cessia requested for the medics to set up tents and make a large and open center not too far from the walls. She then had messengers notify the ill, injured, or crippled that they must head to the war relief area to receive war relief services.

By the time you arrived, many of the wounded soldiers needed people to look after them. As time went on, more war victims showed up, crowding the area and putting the facility under stress. If you can provide either medical expertise, healing, or food for these people it would aid Astorea greatly in its attempt to recover from the war.

  2. This war had taken a lot out of the nation both from the physical and mental side of things, Astorea was hurting, and it would continue to hurt until they were able to get the nation back on its feet. That was going to take time however and more time that he would be able to give for a little while, but enough of that there were things that he needed to do, things that he needed to fix right here at the war relief effort. He might not have known everyone that was here for only about half were under his co-command at the south watch, but he still felt reasonable. These were soldiers that were still living he owes it to them to help and make sure that they would be able to recover. However medical supplies and abilities were something that he did not have he was a hunter, and he was a killer he was no healer.

This was not a place for him but yet he still desired to help, he was still at a loss for how he would be able to procced however when he saw the meals that they were passing around to the healing soldiers. Walking over and grabbing on of the pan and taking a taste for himself, it was a mixture of carrots, onion and what tasted to be either ram or deer meat. Looking over the helper at the amount that was in the pot, if that were the size that they were dealing with, then they would run out of meat and food before long. This was something that he could help with; it involved something that he was good at killing. There were ram up in the mountain and deer well they would be found in some of the forested areas around the encampment.

He could help to provided food grabbing a few of the empty vegetable bags, and he already had his hunting knives, and he set out for the mountain range. If he would catch one or two rams, slain them and bring them back. He knew that he could provide them with at least 50 to 70 pounds of ram’s meat if he hurried. So he left the camp and made his way into the mountain range begin his hunt for any the sheep that tend to flock to this area. He had already made sure that an arrow was nocked in his bow and he was ready. Spying a bit of movement in a few meters away, it was a ram a nice and big one at that it would be able least 45 pounds of meat. However he had to make sure that his shot ring trust he would afford to miss and the creature escaped, so he waited until the moment. The moment when he was sure he could send the arrow through the heart of the beast before he released. It was a beautiful shot, and the creature was dead now he only had to get it back to the camp.

  3. After taking a break from the... intensity of the war, Velka was ready to start playing again. While it was a fun event and just the type of thing she had hoped for when she started playing, it was a bit too much for her to continue on directly after. Logging on, she was still impressed on how things had a lasting impact. The devastation was still apparent in the battered walls, destroyed houses and generally depressing atmosphere all around.

Well, she had the power to change things now, in this world. Might as well use it. Making her way to the relief camp, Velka felt the familiar surge of magic tug at her fingertips. Although she wouldn't mind if she needed to use her geomancy to help rebuild the wall or whatever needed doing, it was time to practice her weaker magic. Although it was still weak by her standards, healing magic was still healing magic and if she could bring the dead to life, she could definitely do this. She introduced herself to some of the medical personnel, volunteered to help and started to work her magic on the dying and injured.

  4. Claire didn't have much to provide. She couldn't heal, and could neither grow nor cook food. She could produce water, though, and a lot of it.

That turned out to be a good thing. Access to clean water was difficult, considering the hasty evacuations and the state of the town. She first started with the obvious, of providing drinking water to the thirsty. Dehydration was no joke, after all.

Eventually, she found another niche for her services. Injuries had to be cleaned before they could be treated, as there were hardly enough healers with magic to deal with all of the injured. Infection would be a horrible way to go, almost as bad as dehydrating to death. That made for a harsh choice between keeping people quenched, or letting open wounds go uncleaned.

Hopefully, Claire's services could help mitigate part of the situation. For now, since there was a more immediate need for help in some of the healers' tents, she decided to head over there and offer her services. The healer was all too happy to have her there, and Claire resigned herself to a long shift of being a somewhat more fancy sink.

  5. There were many methods of being helpful. For Harveste, that was by providing medicinal herbs and using the random trivia she had to make use of them. She'd taken over one of the health tents to grow small batches of medicinal plants and use them on wounded allies and strangers alike. While she'd sing to help her naturamancy bloom faster, she sang some songs just to heal her patients' hearts. When asked why, she gave a bright smile to her first 'customer' of the day.

"Emotional pain is just as bad, if not worse sometimes, than physical. When you're emotionally struggling, your body takes damage too, you know... That's why, I think taking care of your heart is just as important. Some of these herbs double as antiseptic and anti-depressive for that reason alone."

She walked out the first patient with a smile, having given them a long stick she used magic to grow and strengthen like a tree limb. "Be safe, sir!" She chimed aloud. Looking around, she felt her breath hitch. There was such a crowd in the relief camp.

"Maybe I shouldn't be doing this alone...No, can't give up!" Grunting lightly, another patient entered her little healing center. "Ah, just hold still. I'll grow something to stop the bleeding and bandage that wound up!" It was back to step one, but she was glad to be of service.

  6. A innate greediness prevented Comet from caring much about others who were suffering. She felt no need to change this or worry about what this state of mind might do to her morals. Growing up wealthy encouraged this social Darwinism-like belief that others weren't as important. However, the war plagued her mind. Scenes played over and over of innocents who lost their lives protecting Astorea. The place she saw as home. Where not an inch hadn't gone touched, walked on, explored; Comet held a place in her heart that managed to seep into a compassion for the war-heroes who she had the pleasure of fighting among on the Eastern wall. Though a smaller contribution in comparison the the Assassination Team she'd heard a multitude of stores about during the days logged into after King Theo's death, she planned to grow stronger in any way possible to one day become a hero herself. Contributions such as becoming apart of the war effort team went hand-in-hand with Comet's dedication to both Astorea and showing some sort of appreciate towards those who worked hard to fight back despite all odds not in their favor. However, she had no idea what to do without the wonders of modern medicine: healing magic. With a bow in hand the pink-haired woman followed the orders of a nearby man to obtain food in any way possible for the starving and future storage.

An easy enough task with trained Hunting to aid, Comet set out alone with her bow in both hands. When caution would be dropped in certain areas she would use IM to scan what little of the area she could and find edible plants or prey to hunt down. Traps set, in a decent position behind foliage, she decided to hunt before picking and prodding at questionable fruits and vegetables that seemed much more scared than animals in the area. Given that winter was approaching she wasn't surprised. Sights set on a creature of innocence, bow drawn, Comet nearly gave a deadly shot before the ram dropped. Standing up in confusion she began to approach it with steady movement and attentive eyes. A bit of jealousy and rage very suddenly clung to her heart to make themselves noticed. Remembering that hunting wasn't for pride but for helping others eased the pain quite a bit: a rare occurrence for the girl filled with near-deadly ambition. Whoever earned a kill before her deserved praise for their shot and most likely a second hand to get the heavy ram back to where it's meat could be more useful. And, for once, she would be glad to help.

    @Aalam Abungu

  7. Aalam was in the process of cleaning the first ram when he spotted something moving along the edge of the mountain range. He would have missed it if he had started cleaning the ram a bit earlier, it was a mountain lion, and from the size, it appeared to be from this distance it would have to be a creature of decent size. However, he saw something else a person no a player it was Comet now he was in a rock and a hard place. It must have smelt the kill and was investigating to see if it could get an easy meal. Well, it was a shame that he had an entire camp to feed back down the mountainside. So he watched it for a while, watching the beast circle his position, grabbing an arrow from his quiver and nocking back his bow, he waited. If the creature tried anything, then he would kill it if it didn’t try anything then he would leave it be and leave some guts for it to make a meal out of. However whatever happens next was going to be up to it, after circling him for a while it appeared that the lion left, it seemed that the beast has realized that he was not worth the risk.

He was about to un-nock bow when he heard something moving something was trying its best to move both quietly and quickly. Turning his attention back to the ridge he saw the beast it seemed that eh lion had not decided to leave and had instead come in for the attack. It was too close now from home to get off a shot, so he rolled out of the way dodging the first attack and putting an arrow on the creature’s side. He missed his mark so as the beat came around from a second attack he let loose a sonic arrow. It punched through the beast chest and got logged in the Cliffside; however, the beast momentum made it land right on top of him. Pushing the creature off and sitting down to catch his breath, well not he had two creatures to clean and prepare for the fire. Taking out his knives he started to get to work, gutting and skinning both animals. Lion meat might not have been the tastiest meal, but at least they would have meat to go in their stew.

Once he was sure the beast was dead he did signal @Comet to come over there was work to be done, they had to clean these creatures before they got back to camp and the extra hand was appreciated.

  8. This was a first for Alkaid. She’d seen wars waged in other MMOs before, but it was often left between players. NPCs were usually some knighthood under the command of one Guild pitted against another, but they'd be fine in the end. In true fashion to the game’s introduction, however, she’d found herself amidst a world in turmoil. A world that cared not for a character exploring its realms, and even less its own fabrications.

And as a result, it all felt so...real. Or at least more than it would have otherwise, driving closer to Alkaid’s line between the real world and the game world.

Although she doubted she would see much in the way of monetary reward, given the circumstances, she decided to pitch in at the medical center, albeit not entirely to be some good Samaritan. For one, even knowing most she’d tend to were comprised of 1s and 0s, that didn’t stop her from feeling bad for them; More importantly, though, she wanted to test the limits of and gain a better sense over one of her Masteries, Astramancy. She knew she draw power from elsewhere to create small amounts of an element to help soothe the injured with heat or cold, yet she’d heard there was more. Minor healing, even illusions. Thus, where her healing magic would not prove adequate - which was most cases - she created images and sensations to distract from pain while others took more mundane, painful methods for what they knew could not simply be healed.

Trying her best to experience the situation as if it were a scene from a movie, Alkaid became very, very thankful for modern anesthetics. Unfortunately, however, new shouts kept echoing across the tents, giving little time for thought...

  9. As he returned to Astorea after the change in himself, Bradwynne was still seeing many a wounded person being taken to the tent where he was once rested. The large tent, although became quite suffice for the wounded and ailing soldiers during the war, now became so full that some more tents were erected at its vicinity, and the doctors and medical men were running to and fro in between tents just to rush to some soldier who was almost dying due to the numerous wounds and infections that the person gained. The worst thing was, he was still seeing someone dying in the tents due to lack of attention and lack of doctors in general. This was when he decided, he had gained the knowledge on Illumancy, why not use it to heal? He then resolved on moving towards the most ailing soldiers in the tents, and then using the utmost of his energy to heal that person completely or until the point that he could heal himself at a normal pace. That way, the doctors could focus more on not letting the ailments of the soldiers worse, in that way casualties would lessen.

A scream led Bradwynne to one of the tents, where it was said that there was a wounded person there with an arrow stuck to his lung, completely deflating that lung which made the person almost unable to breathe. He then entered the tent, but as he walked, he did not notice an empty jar that was lying on the ground. His left foot stepped on the jar, and it rolled from underneath his foot, and he slipped and fell down on his butt. Quickly getting up and dusting off his clothes, he then said, "Maybe the doctor needs another doctor to doctor him," to the laughter of a lot of people in the tent. As he walked towards the patient with the deflated lung, he noticed some person conjuring images while doctors operated on the wound of the patient staring at the images. In an era where there are no anesthetics, Bradwynne admired the effort of the person there in getting the patient focused. He then moved towards his patient, and then clasped his hands while chanting a Hebrew phrase. His hands then glowed, and then he moved the glowing hand towards the body of the patient to remove the broken arrow from the patient's body. The area near the arrow wound was then illuminated with concentric circles of light, and as he finished removing the arrow, the wound closed, and the patient immediately gasped and deeply inhaled and exhaled for a number of times. Bradwynne then left the tent, towards where the new shouts were coming from.

  10. Claire stood up, stretching for a bit. It looked like things were pretty handled for now, as she had filled up a few buckets of water that the healers here could use when they wanted. Access to clean, fresh water for medical purposes done for the time being, it was time to switch to addressing the second concern: drinking water.

After cleaning herself off for a bit, Claire walked over to a few places where it looked like food was being served. Making her way to the front of the crowd, she requested a few bowls and cups or mugs that she could take with her. The healers didn't look like they were getting a chance to rest or eat, so bringing them some food was the least she could do, when she couldn't help them directly herself.

Returning to the tent she was sitting in, Claire dropped off the dishes and cups that she had brought. She had one extra, so she left it to the patient that was just about to leave. She wasn't that hungry herself, so better that the food went so someone who would need it.

With a quick murmur, she filled the glasses with drinking water, and seated herself again. No rest for the wicked, it seemed. The healers barely had any time to eat themselves before the next patient was ushered in through the tent flaps. Repressing the urge to sigh, Claire once again began chanting, producing ice to treat some swelling and conjuring water to help clean any injuries. Perhaps she really should consider learning more about healing, just in case.

  11. Shuffle the cards. Keep drawing until ones with the right energies are all used. Shuffle again. Start drawing again.

Already, Alkaid could see an issue with her particular Masteries for this role. If she had taken a healing oriented Mastery about all her cards would be useful, but Astramancy was dependent on an alignment of energies, making some cards far more effective than others. She had to keep track of not only the orders and shuffling all about her, but also what cards she had access to.

Finding the card she’d been waiting on, one that had proved most effective thus far, she attempted to draw on its power alongside an assisting card. Together, they put off an otherworldly glow for a second, only to dim and peter out like the lightbulbs of a home whose owner hadn’t paid their electricity bill.

She hissed through clenched teeth. “Bastard.”

Once more she had found herself beside the blonde boy, hoping that particular combination might help him save energy he could use elsewhere. “Not you,” she clarified, then adding a wink, “you’re quite the help, young doctor. Provided –”

Another jar on the floor. She quickly picked it up. “Provided you don't overexert yourself. Or someone doesn’t get you hurt. Hey! Whoever keeps dropping things on the floor, stop it unless you want your head stuffed into one of these!”

As if they didn't have enough problems. One tent -- one time -- was one thing, but two?

Not stopping for long, she found another pair of cards that may help, creating a soothing warmth for her current patient instead. She could only mutter a quiet thanks to the generous soul who brought in new dishes and cold water, for despite the coming winter's chill, the medical tent may as well have been a sauna. Although that might've been just all the hassle on Alkaid's part, who had to keep her own words in mind.

New arrival meant time to reshuffle, though. Just a glimpse of horribly swollen skin and a bone sticking out made her wince. And then she realized it was a thigh bone...

  12. A woman was going from tent to tent with food for some of the healing staff. It felt weird when the stranger offered her something to eat- or at least, she was fairly sure they hadn't actually met, or at least not spoken. Smiling faintly, the small girl gave a gentle smile while finishing up filling a wound with herbs that would help stop the constant bleeding. They left after receiving a leaf to nibble on to ease the pain, wanting to let the next of the patients go through.

With a gap for only a moment to speak, Harveste was happy to hold a mint leaf up to the stranger that had brought her something to try to eat between patients. "Keep this with you, miss. If you get tired, just chew on it. Mint is good for both relaxing when you're stressed and energizing when you're tired. It's all I can do to thank you, since thankfully you don't seem too injured. If you start to feel unwell though, tell me, kay? I can try to figure out a plant that'll help you feel better." She smiled gently, peeking out to see how many more patients there were overall.

This is gonna be a long day...I should've expected that though, I guess.

"Don't work too hard, miss. Something tells me we'll need more of your hard work soon... So make sure you get some rest when you can. It'd be bad if you overdid it, no matter the cause."

    @Claire Thalassa

  13. He was able to bring food that was something, and with Comet’s help, he was able to bring back down more than he would have been able to bring down alone. It would be a good amount of meat for them to use and if they were able to make to most of it would be able to spread around for much longer. The bones alone would make a tasty broth. Once the cooks had taken the meat away, he dropped down on to the floor that the last couple of days Aalam had been going non-stop and for a few minutes he just needs to rest. Waving the girl comet away he was thankful for her help, but he needed a few moments to himself. So he did what he liked to do when he had the time he laid on the ground and looked up at the sky. There were a few could that seemed to be having the time of their life up there, it didn’t happen often, but this was one of the times that he wished he could have joined them. It was just about then that something blocked his light as he turned over to see what that could have been, He saw a nurse struggling to carry what looked like a pan full of clean sheet.

He had choices now he could finish the rest of his break, or he could go back to work. Damn it rolling to his feet was caught up to the nurse taking the pan from her and letting her lead the way. It seemed that they were using the rags as makeshift bandages as they were running low on the real stuff. Well, it was a good idea if they made sure to have some extra bandages on hand now then if they did run out then at least they would be prepared. So he started tearing up the sheets and handing them to the nurse. It seemed that she was carrying them buckets at a time to a giant pot to be boiled clean. Well, they had a system, so he worked in the order; he was able to speed up the production of bandages. Where they were able to get through the entire pan in on two hours and was no helping to hang them out to dry. There were at least hundred and fifty sets of bandages that were draining it wasn’t that much, but it would help.

  14. "Ah-ha!" Alpha grinned, spitting the pencil out of her mouth as she held the large piece of construction paper above her head. It took her a full hour of struggling but she had managed to create the most glorious plan for Astorea that this world has ever seen! Craftsmanship had never been a particularly popular occupation for the inhabitants of Terrasphere and so Alpha prided herself strongly on her artisan capabilities (considering that she was one of the few that had even a smidgen of knowledge in the subject which was saying a lot when it's Alphabet Chocolate who knew more technical knowledge than most others). "There ya go! Astorea's new housing plan has been innovated! This is an inspirational revolution in architectural stuff for this entire planet!" she cheered.

Her festivities were so distracting that she failed to notice that she had dropped the parchment onto the floor, the blueprints slowly unfolding to reveal her meticulous work.

  15. Expecting ease and receiving different results had Comet wiping away beads of sweat forming on her forehead with a quickness that reminded her of the hard work at hand. Cleaning the animal and then hauling it back to Astorea strained her muscles that were already sore from the last few days. Days of mental strain more so than anything else but now the physical effects were deciding to make themselves present. A reverse karma had Comet cursing under her breath about the job until it ended. She'd focused solely on the task at hand, assisting this stranger, without much care for anything else other than perfection of her jerky movements. With a satisfaction deep within buzzing as the cooks praised the efforts for meat before speeding off to continue their part for the war relief, Comet barely noticed her now ex-companion leaving. Her lips parted to say something though when she couldn't find the man she shrugged it off and made way to make herself useful again.

Walking around, boots slowly dragging along pavement, the pink-haired woman had her sights set on the surroundings. The community had beautifully come together despite the times being rather ugly in contrast. Healers with their magic created a more otherworldly atmosphere - a sense of hope for the future. She too, gripping her bow with a scary tightness, wondered how the people and things damaged by war would be able to repair themselves. If they could manage such feats. Skeptical views defeated what "dreams" Comet could ever have for anyone, especially herself. However, seeing those around her filled with it served as a form of contentment. Distracted, she nearly slipped on a sudden change in surface texture. After maintaining a state of proper balance she reached down to pluck a piece of paper from the ground. Horrible drawings and writing had her thin brows quirked in curiosity; eyes settling on the excited girl before her. Yes, this form of hope is what drew her to the war relief. A blind one of ignorance the relieved her inner pain.

"This is yours? Can't say I've seen any drawings as good so far," she cleared her throat and raised her voice to subdue the stranger's joy. "Housing plans so soon? It might be better to fix the broken ones first before building more." The confusion towards the girl's age left her inclined to use mannerisms akin to speaking with a child.
