  3. She knew herself too well. She'd seen the maze of corn as she was walking around trying to give flowers to strangers, and she'd seen the line of people that looked like they had as much interest as she did in a puzzle and some fun. Most of the people seemed to be in pairs, making the small girl a bit nervous on her own as she joined them.

It wasn't like she had the guts to ask the girl she liked to go with her. Not now.

"Excuse me," She mused, lightly tugging on a woman's sleeve whom appeared to be, like her, alone. "It looks like we're supposed to pair up for this. Would you mind if I tag along...? It's less fun alone, anyway. This kind of puzzle really is meant for two."

She wasn't sure how she'd get the woman to agree, but as they reached the front of the line and it was time for their turn, it seemed they were basically assumed a pair and pushed to take their first steps.

"I guess we should start then... I'm Harveste. What should I call you, miss?" She walked as she spoke, timid but tremendously glad to have someone to share the fun with- even if they might not have wanted to take the Faerin with them at first, though she would never really know. "Your hair ribbons are really nice. So fluffy and cute. I wonder if I should try such a style sometime instead of these little things..."

Distracted, she walked into a hedge, but only for a moment, laughing it off and returning to the maze with what she hoped would be a blossoming friendship. "Oh! I was giving out flowers earlier... I didn't get to give you one yet, did I? Do you have any in particular you like?" She couldn't just stop talking- she was too nervous for that, too intrigued and curious and struggling to keep calm with a stranger by her side in a somewhat dim alley of maize that would only lead to another...

  6. A tug of her arm caused Chelsea to look behind her. A girl that was really short and um... kind of adorable was staring up at her with chibi eyes. Yeesh... silly anime stereotypes! Chelsea did not even consider her own looks when she thought that. Why she went for a few more inches and hopefully a more intimidating yet appropriate look for her avatar variant. She had experienced being called chibi before in her new school... boo. Now she can hopefully just get away with being a teen or you know, what she really is? Young adult thank you very much!

"Hmmm? Oh yeah there is a maze here. A maize... sorry. I guess we could go together. I am Lady N, a... inventor I suppose for right now. I'm just taking in the sights, not aiming for anything to stressful."

She quickly turned away from the face that was talking about her ribbons. Yes they were cute.. that was why she wore them hmph! Wait, she was complimenting her, but it was a bit embarrassing so Chelsea focused on ignoring it. Putting her hands into the pockets of her snug jacket she looked back at the chibi dwarf girl... Faerins or some such nonsense word they were called. Unless she was actually a child? Fantasy games... sigh.

"Alright then. Let's go see how complicated they made this maize."

Then came a question about flowers... this was a bit sudden but now Chelsea had a good idea what this dwarf kid really wanted. Oh great she just wanted to make a sale. Yeesh.

"F-flowers are nice... I don't really spend much time on that kind of thing. Begonias are nice. A good color... I'm not buying though so don't ask."

She muttered it out a bit embarrassed and not really sure why. This kind of talk she usually had with her parents... not that it mattered anymore.

  9. The moment the woman made a pun out of the maze's building blocks, Harveste was struggling not to hug her in delight. "It's the perfect kind of maze when it's a maize maze, don't you think? I've seen a lot of different kinds, but besides flowers... This is a special kind of beauty."

Soon, she found the name of the woman and took a moment to mull it over in her mind. 'Lady N', a name that could mean so many things. And yet, to her, it was a beautiful sound. "Lady surely suits you. You're elegant like one." Her words were said with a smile, which seemed to remain even when her other compliment got taken awkwardly. It wasn't like Harveste was usually good with them either, after all.

"I'm not trying to sell you any. While I do have a stall to sell at, I also just like giving them out, you know? Flowers can make people smile so brilliantly... And when it's a festival, shouldn't we want them to be happy? If I can make someone smile just a little big brighter, I'm glad. Besides... I bet the flowers are happy too!"

She knew she sounded a bit nuts, but she stalled for a moment anyway to cast a spell- using the dirt beneath her feet to grow a single stem of begonias, a mixture of white, light yellow and gentle pink blooms coating it as she held the small flower bundle to her companion. "Begonias are really nice, and they like the weather the way it is here. Their meaning is so varied and special, too. It makes them that much more lovely! And in general, that just makes me think they'll be even happier with someone who likes them so."

  12. Chelsea kept her eye on the right wall of the maze. All she had to do was follow it and she would eventually get to the exit... of course that was not the fastest way to succeed and this was a race wasn't it? Harveste, the chibi that was with her was constantly talking with this little voice that most characters like that had. It was... cute but also difficult for Chelsea to focus with her squeaking in the background. Chelsea felt a bit self conscious about her own voice but at least it was realistic. Then she called her elegant... hmmm well that was true. She tried to maintain a air of sophistication at all times Only right for the Nexus heiress to do so.

"I have a upbringing that.. nevermind."

She did not need to reveal anything to this girl. Then she started talking about flowers again... yeesh. Harveste's name really suited her as well. The girl was kind of overboard about it. It felt like she had spent a bit too much time in the fields. Flowers being happy? Sigh.. welcome to fantasy land. Leave common sense at the door! The girl even went as far as to use some magic stuff to make flowers, actual begonias sprout around them. Chelsea refused to smile at this. Maintaining a cold facade.

"That's nice. I'm sure your... flowers... are thrilled to be given away for free."

Chelsea's eyes fell on a pink one.

"I guess I'll take just one. That ones cute. N-not my favorite color of course."

  15. She had plenty of questions- what Lady N was starting to say, for example, that she suddenly stopped. She wanted to know which of the colors the woman liked, because it was clear she seemed to be eyeing one in particular. But most of all, she wanted to know what that weird noise was not far from them at the first turn.

Apparently, it wasn't only faire-goers getting lost in this place.

Before them stood a coyote- one that likely had wandered in from the nearby wilderness and tempted by the smell of food and the sound of the fun of people enjoying the festivities. She tried to get a bit closer, but it growled, making her sigh.

"Something tells me we'll have to defeat it to get past... Or at least enough to scare it away." When she went to look at it's details, it said it was a monster, and aggressive. For now, there was at least a way she could try to stop it so they could better beat it to the finish.

With a small song, she created vines to ensnare it from the ground. "I don't know what skills you use, but... My skills are only really with plants. And, y'know, maybe throwing my grimoire at it if I have to. That's not really handy in moments like this, though."

  18. Chelsea was certain this mini game was going to be a breeze to clear. She was always good at such things that required intuition and the like. However... that was under the condition that it was just a maze. It was now a maze with a coyote growling at her.

The girl immediately took a step back but stopped backing off any further. She remembered the old rule that you never show fear or try to run from a wild animal. If they felt your fear you died. Actually.. that rule was not at all full proof and there were enough documentation to prove it. So Chelsea was not all that sure what to do. The Faerin girl was using her magical powers. Fantasy worlds, boo.Then... then Harveste went and asked for help and what abilities Lady N had. Oh... um...

    "Well.... uh...yeah about that..."

Chelsea furrowed her brows in a look of determination, even if it was extremely reckless. She ran straight for the coyote and kicked it in the jaw with all her might! Yep... that's what she could do! Yeesh this was not going to end well was it now? So much for relaxing.

  21. The coyote wanted to attack the lady when she kicked it, but was unfortunately tied down rather heavily by the vines. Harveste opted to use her magic by singing continually. She just wasn't a melee person. She could try, but... Really, how would it work?

"Now that I think about it, I just got this trinket..." She looked at the armband on her right side, putting a hand on it with a soft smile. She sang about roses and their thorns, about being locked in a box. In a way, she felt like she was making up a song about a book she liked, The Little Prince. In fact, she opted to do just that not long after.

Her song, all about a rose in a cage of glass, tightened the vines to the point they were starting to crush the Coyote's bones. She couldn't finish it off because the sound startled her, her breath hitching, song coming to a sudden stop. The vines were still gripping, but they wouldn't hold long if she didn't calm down.

"P-Please, just kick it to the side somehow. It'll feel better if we just end it now!"

  24. The beast was on the ground now. It was actually pretty useful to have magic in this game wasn't it? Yeesh, this was not going to be for her. After a few games she will likely just drop it and focus on her more important things. Like her real life. It was not like her real life was a huge bundle of screwed up right now. Or that she was unsure what to do with her future without Nexus. No.... she was not upset about anything at all!

A strong snap of a neck from her shoe crushed down upon it was also totally not driven by those thoughts. Nope!

"Let's get on with this place. I want to be kept busy and a dying animal isn't going to help me."

Chelsea nodded to Harveste and scrapped her shoe on the grass. She probably was going to be seen as someone cruel to animals now... well that was fine since she did not want to be friends with anyone anyway! She was busy. This was just a way to get her mind of her problems and somehow at this moment she had went back to them. Boo.

  27. Surprisingly, Harveste wasn't upset by the animal being harmed any further by Lady N. After all, hadn't the harvest sprite done most of the damage thanks to her friendly vines? So, she pat the woman on the back instead. She was putting on a strong face, and so far, something about it was failing to sink into the smaller girl's mind.

"You'd be surprised. I think a lot of people play games for that reason, miss-" She wanted to just call her 'Lady', but that just sounded plain rude to her, based on the stories she'd written and done that in before. "We all have our reasons and our troubles. But... By saying you just need to be kept busy... Doesn't that mean dealing with the animal helped in its own way? Fights are good for keeping you from thinking, after all, at least for a while.

She probably should've looked where she was going as she tried to 'lead the way'. She wandered down the path only to trip on a stray vine- likely one that had grown with her spell. Faceplanting, she laughed timidly as she got to her knees and then to her feet, waving the woman to continue to follow her.

"We all have our reasons, so I won't pry further. Just know... Running away doesn't always work out in the end. Sometimes, a fight will help us get rid of our worries much faster. Since you can just imagine the monster is whatever's eating at your mind, right? That's what my karate teacher once told me~"

  30. Watching the girl fall on her face was one thing, but they were also turned around at one point. How? Chelsea was still following her follow the right wall rule!? Yeesh, probably some ridiculous magical reason. Logic realy was not going to help in this mini game was it? Cheslea would find this challenging then. Hopefully she could still prevail here. Seeing that the Faerin girl was okay, she did not ask or offer any assistance to help her back up. The tripping and falling stuff was cute though... really cute but this was not a good time to be cute was it? They were lost in a maze!

"I can't say you are wrong. A fight in a game like this is exactly that.. a waste of time. So it fills it's spot."

That likely came out more harsh than she really meant. Well, she was more focused on finding the right path again now anyway. The comments about her 'running away from her problems' though... they actually struck the stoic teen's nerve. It was obvious the girl was a player just from the stuff she had said so far but Chelsea not openly revealed this about herself yet. Harveste may have had good intuition then. Still.... she had a lot of nerve prying into her life. Trying to judge the Nexus heiress...

"....I did not say I was running from anything! This is for fun hmph. You call it a game right... then that's what it is! A maze is very fun and I'm... I'm grinding mazes for the simple joy of it okay? Let's get moving. You likely got us lost. Now it's up to Lady N to fix that as is usually the case!"

Chelsea marched on at a faster pace now. Her wording purposely chosen to keep her life anonymous. She had been slowly practicing a much more obnoxious and egotistical version of herself for the Lady N persona. So she would use it here and have it help her keep this girl out of her business. Whether she had innocent intentions or not. Becoming annoyed by Harveste's words really helped bring it out! Anyway, time to do exactly that... have fun or whatever Terrasphere was about.

  33. "Most people who are trying to 'keep busy' are mentally running from something aren't they? It's not like you're alone. I'm doing that too." She laughed a bit. This girl sure was a classic tsundere. She was interesting, even if she had some harshness. What bothered Harveste most, most likely, was that she felt like the young lady was hiding something from her- and maybe even herself.

Denial was, after all, cause of suspicion sometimes.

Pouting when she was told that she had gotten them lost, the girl pointed in the direction she was headed and explained her reasoning. "I'm not lost, I'm clumsy. I can tell where we are going, believe it or not. The exit's not far from here. Don't you see it? The way the light is changing from the maize becoming thinner in the amount surrounding us? Or the way the air feels a little less tickly from the pollen?"

  36. She was not alone? Hmph... nobody really could be in her shoes. The only one who might have ever been in her predicament perhaps in some alternate reality was 'her'. Of course her head was so full of hero nonsense that maybe she would brush off all concerns. Somewhere deep down Chelsea wishes she could do that as well. It was just not her though. Cheslea felt too strongly about her problems to not keep them close to her. Soon, soon she would deal with this stuff and accept whatever the solution... and consequence was. Just not now.

Her thoughts were interrupted by another growl. Oh...boo, boo BOO! Another one? A coyote came running at them from around a corner up ahead! Chelsea brought a palm to face and shook her head slowly. Well they were unlikely to win the race aspect of this now. Best just get this done.

"They really need to keep their dogs in cages...sigh, this is on purpose right? A festival that can kill. Nice of the organizers to be so friendly. I don't have weapons for this kind of thing. I'm just here for a maze... yeesh."

Chelsea did not even wait around and went straight for kicking at the coyote with a stiff and repetitive fashion. Hoping to just be done with this maze and these overly free canines.

  39. They'd nearly reached the end, and now there was another coyote in their wake. Somehow, this one seemed stronger- even if, so far, Lady N had done a great job of knocking it down a peg. "You ain't kidding. And I don't thik coyotes even eat corn, so why are they all wandering in here? Is this part of the game or something?"

Seeing as Lady N had been quite astute to kick them where it hurt, Harveste took out her magic book and, rather than setting up some vines to ensnare it, tried to go with blunt force as well. Sadly, the coyote tried to bite her book as she went to hit the beast with it. With a yell, she managed to throw it off. The throw did more damage than anything, likely thanks to the nature magic imbued in her book boosting her throw.

"So... Note to self, stick to vines and flowers. Clearly, they like the taste of literature as much as blood."

  42. This time Harveste's attack was no where near as strong. However Chelsea was pretty much done with this maze, the coyote's that were taking it over, and the Faerin girl's overly friendly nature towards her. Chelsea did not have the need for someone to keep trying so hard. She was fine doing things for herself and by herself. It was something she had to do as a CEO's daughter to a degree anyway but now she was getting used to it for most things. Terrasphere would be no different in that regard.

Cheslea gave a powerful 360' kick directly into the side of the coyote's head sending it flying into the hedges dead on impact. The power of her attack actually caused Cheslea herself to stop for a moment. Wow, she really did that? She looked at her legs that were bare if not for her skirt, socks and shoes. She had went with a very conventional look that would not make her look much different than real life if not for the actual design or materials used. Her legs were still pretty scrawny. Chelsea never did much exercises, she was definitely brains over brawn...but... well this was impressive. Lady N might not be so bad if she could get all of her preparations in order.

"Okay... that was fast... good! Hpmh! No more coyotes please? Let's get on with this place. It's getting late."

    She swiftly headed on.

  45. As the woman's words echoed in Harveste's ears alongside it's cries for escape from the pain the two were giving it, the small girl grew some flowers to make a makeshift grave, small daisies dotting the spot it died in before she hopped over them and held a hand out to her partner on the quest to escape this seeming hell of a puzzle.

"The exit's right over there, and I have my doubts based on the quiet that there's anymore coyotes to attack us. Let's get out of here and turn in our timestamp, or... However it works. And then, I can figure out a proper way to thank you for joining me today~!"

With a great grin, she waited for her hand to be taken, if it would be, before fleeing towards the exit. Once out of the corn conundrum, she let out a deep sigh of relief and stretched her arms. "Can't say I've ever been in a maize maze like that, but... I could do without the coyotes next time for sure. Made me feel a little too much like I was in Phi Brain... Hehe."
