Open - Drinking buddies

  1. Rousing laughter filled the air as another punchline was delivered. Men and women talked with merriment as alcohol flowed through their veins, and nestled in a corner with a mug in his hand sat Rodger, getting hammered. Now, normally he wasn't one for drinking, he had other vices to keep him sated. Yet tonight he found himself in Finweald, putting down his mug for the second time as he listened to the folks of the tavern enjoy themselves.

The 'war' was over. They grieved for their lost ones, and began rebuilding what was broken, but now they rejoiced for the new found peace. Rodger couldn't help but snort before taking a swig oh his ale. If this world was anything like the real world, then the war would never really be over. But he could enjoy the reprieve.

Making his way towards the barkeep, Rodger fished a few coins out of his pocket to pay for a refill, 'This mead stuff isn't that bad. Nice and strong, with a little taste of honey.' He laughed,'Never thought I'd get buzzed in a game..' Standing at the bar, he waited for some attention.

  2. He was finally in his type of bar it was something that he was trying to get to for most of the day, but there had been stops he had needed to make along that way. There were people still hurting from the tragedies of war and well he was doing his duties as a commander to help with those pains. However, it was now time to drown himself in what he assumed would be at least decent quality rum. Ale was for staying awake he needed rum in his system. As he cracked open the door, the noise of the bar was the first thing to assault him they were celebrating their victory over the Falderen armies. It was something for the people to be happy for if nothing else.

Grabbing a tankard off one of the trays that a waitress was carrying around the room piled high with a cup of the foamy stuff. He was about to take his place in the corner and ignore everyone that wasn’t related to the drink in his hands. However it was right about then that he saw someone, it was another player and someone he had severed beside on the wall. He would have left the man along, but it seemed he was putting down more drink that he could handle, lightweight. Making his way over to the bar just in time to catch his comment about how he would have never thought he would have gotten buzzing in a game. Yea the kid was a newbie and a lightweight. “Well, that because its good mead and you’re putting down a lot of it in a short amount of time. It will do what liquor does.”

  3. Backfire kicked opened the door carrying a sack behind her.

    "God damn, I. AM. BEAT!"

Backfire trudged over to the bartender.

    "Hey! Two shots, one beer!"

As Backfire looked over the bar's clientele she noticed some player types sitting in the corner. Not one for drinking alone, Backfire paid the barman, took her drinks and headed towards the two players with her bag in tow. She grabbed an empty chair and pulled it up to their table. Yeah, she might be intruding but she had never cared about that before and wasn't going to today either. Besides, she only wanted some company.

"Yo, players too right? HAHA, The name's Backfire! I work in demolition! Blowing up... well really anything! HAHAHA!"

She turned to @Aalam Abungu, "You look familiar? You fight in that last war we had?! I was at East Watch. Hahaha! Man, that was a messy one with the wolves and everything. Got to flex a bit of muscle though, have a bit of fun, and everyone came out no worse for wear! Not Bad, Right!?"

Backfire took both of her shots and depth charged them into her beer, then took a sip.

    "Ahh... that hits the spot."

    Backfire looked to @Rodger Clemens.

"I don't think I've met you before. You new? Want to buy some fish parts?"

    Backfire nodded towards her bag.

  4. One of the maidens replaced his mug with a full one with a smile as he passed the coins into her hand, and all was right with the world. He was about to take a sip when he was addressed by a familiar stranger. Turning to his left, Rodger found a gruff looking man next to him with long brown hair with a mug of his own.

Too tipsy to be embarrassed at being caught mumbling to himself, Rodger laughed before replying,"Suppose that's true, commander. Liquor is liquor no matter where you are," he took a swing from his mug,"But being around so many people having a good time definitely makes it a better experience."

Rodger extended his hand,"Names Rodger, South-watch defender. Didn't do much I suppose, but a few of my arrows found their mark. Though, I remember you being there, I think. Commander, right?"

Before he could go into further conversation, a woman found her way into their corner and pulled up a seat. Like the man, she also had long brown hair, though hers was longer with much more care put into it. She also had this excitable look in her eyes that was both captivating and a little alarming, especially when they turned onto him with a question,"Fish...parts? Uh no, no thank you." He then offered her his hand as he did with the commander, "I'm Rodger, its nice to meet you Backfire." He stopped himself from asking about the name, maybe it would come up later.

  5. Well at least the man was good company there were so many weighted down by their actions on the wall. The one was able to laugh that was good some many couldn’t laugh at their life anymore. Taking a swig from his mug this was some excellent ale it wasn’t the best, but it was nice. However, it seemed that he would never escape that commander title it was going to follow him for the rest of his time here.

When at least the liquor was working, it was giving him that nice haze in his mind, enough that he didn’t have to worry about the simple things. He would have to help the boy get a better taste in the drink; no one should be drinking weak stuff for long.” Well, good company tends to make everything better if it didn’t then what would be the fun of getting together with friends.” Drinking the rest of the liquor in his cup and then grabbing a fresh mug off a waitress and taking a swig from that. Well, now it seemed that he would be drinking mead. Dipping his mug towards the man “well nice drinking hope they have better things in the back though.”

Settling down the mug when a new person came into the bar he usually would have just overlooked her but she had odd eyes. They were too wide and well the fact that she also kicked open the bar when she could have just down the door like a reasonable person. She did look familiar, but he was having trouble placing the face and the voice. It wasn’t until he heard her mention that she was on the east watch, and then it clicked in his head. He had heard about what went down on the wall. So one with bombs who was blowing up everything in sight if that was her then it was an interesting use of tinkering “Yea I was on the south watch, however, and I was just a soldier doing a bit of service.”

  6. Backfire @Rodger Clemens hand with a firm shake.

"HAHA! GOOD TO MEET YA! No fish parts though, eh? Well, guess it's just as well business hours are over anyway. Maybe someday I'll learn to cook the fish parts, but right now I got other priorities! HAH!"

Backfire looked at @Aalam Abungu and motioned with her head towards her bag.

"Guessing you really aren't in the market for fish parts either huh? Good for soup, and whatever the hell people would use fish bones for in this world as well. Haha! So, Southwatch? I didn't get around there much, was too busy blowing wolves to hell at East. Fire magic came in pretty handy over there. Well, I say 'fire' but I like to use pyromancy to make explosives. It's a lot flashier then throwing a fireball, which I like. HAHA! Also, doesn't require all the know-how of a tinkerer, plus you can manipulate the mines in real time. Gotta say, when it comes to mines and bombs, I'm basically a genius! HAHAHA. Oh, I can do other things too, other than blowing up buildings and bad guys, I mean, I'm pretty good at fireworks! 'A+ Explosion? Then it's Backfire you've chosen!' That's the jingle I've been working on for my demolition biz. HAHAHA! NOT BAD RIGHT?!"

Raising her glass in a mock cheer, Backfire took another swig.

"Anyway, what brings you two to this area? Just hanging out? Trying to get a little R&R after the whole war thing? Me, I was just doing a bit of fishing and thought I could use a drink after a hard day's work."

  7. He took another swig as he listened to the woman who introduced herself as Backfire. Rodger sat with a growing smirk as it became apparent that Backfire was one with a lot of excess energy. She seemed cheery and vibrant in a genuinely childlike manner, and it was refreshing.

Finishing his mug, he grabbed another, not noticing the difference in taste before he spoke again, "I'm just here to kill some time between assignments. I help tend some farms and track some animals that escaped in the chaos. Nothing major, but every little bit helps. What about you folks?"

The dread head was curious as to what the duo would reply with. Bars were, after all, a great way to meet interesting people.
