  1. The room lit up almost instantly with Emil's actions regarding the sticks of wood that Zelrius had brought. They had two more, and maybe that would be enough for now. Hopefully. He walked over and handed the other non-burning stick to Bradwynne, nodding and then scanning the room as to clues to what they were looking for. Though to be honest; it looked like even they themselves had no idea. That would explain why they're here, Kinda. He thought to himself, now slowly beginning to understand, or atleast, he thought he did. The man was too worried to ask, not really wanting to be that big of a bother, and scared that it was obvious and they'd think he was an idiot or something for not knowing.

So instead of worry about all that. the man used what information he had gathered from scanning the room, taking in his surroundings, and moved over to the painting. Blue eyes looked it up and down, trying to decipher any semblance of meaning, dabbing his fingers to touch the very bottom of the painting, before leaning in and giving it a sniff with the painting being inches away from his face.

Action: Examine the Painting using senses such as Sight, Touch, and Smell. Try to decipher meaning from the painting or anything out of place about it. @Pandora

    Zelrius: Full investigation of Painting(2)

@Zelrius would give the painting a full look over using a variety of approaches.

The painting was indeed just colors running down the surface. It gave no sense of curses or strangeness other than the concept of painting something like this in general. The frame was normal and not made of anything valuable. What this was a painting of or why it was in a church is sadly unknown.

    Nothing else of note here.

Emil watched as the newcomer quickly entered the room and went toward the painting, running his hands along and over it and, surprisingly, even leaning in to sniff it. Were he not part curious, part afraid, he would have lifted an eyebrow and perhaps even posed a question as to the reasoning behind his actions. As it stood, he didn’t feel compelled to do either.

Ah, I guess you’re our new party member then, he hedged, a small frown making the area between his eyebrows dip. I’m Emil and this is Bradwynne. Introducing himself like this, without a proper handshake or even eye contact for that matter, felt strange and foreign to the master spell weaver. But, these weren’t normal circumstances in which people met. Turning his attention to the room in general, he sighed and shook his head, taking a single step over the threshold.

Another room with the curtains drawn tight over the window. It was a silly thing for him to do, he knew it, but he couldn’t help himself. His movements were quick as his legs allowed him to move across the room to the lone window and draw back the curtains. He was expecting to see the rest of the graveyard, filled with swirling mist and a darkened sky. Or maybe the sun had come out by now? Who knew how long that had been in this damned church to begin with.

    Emil: Pulling the curtains open

A dim light filled the the small room. The window was strangely not wet from the falling rain at all. As if the rain was somehow repelled by the glass. What you would see outside was a unnerving sight for most normal folk.

A graveyard that seemed to expand beyond your line of sight. The rain caused a fog over it that made it difficult to make out much more. It felt as if something was staring back at you from beyond the many gravestones scattered about in the fog...

The window would also prove to be extremely resistant to your efforts to open it if you were to try. As if something supernatural kept the graveyard separate from the room you were in. There was nothing else of note here.

Indeed it was the very same scene as the last one. Down to the exact detail...

    But wait!

A small scribble was at the very bottom of the window. It almost was missed but a flash of lightening brought it to your attention!

The graveyard is just another falsehood in these worlds of lies.

There was now truly nothing else of note here.

  7. Zelrius wasn't having any of it. The painting came off as odd, but perhaps as mundane as he had originally thought. Whether that was a good or bad thing, he'd have to find out later. However, in the moment, he watched Emil examine the window and then pull away. In turn, the golden haired man looked it up and down, staring into the darkness that lay ahead in the Graveyard, and then only noticing the inscription as he pulled away himself. Something wasn't right, and now he'd try to find out just what that inscription meant.

He drew his Outlaw's Cutlass, knocking the pane of the window with the hilt of his blade as hard as he could, testing of the Window would shatter or not.

Action: Attempt to Break the Window, trying to find out what the Inscription says in relation to the Window itself. @Pandora

    Zelrius: Break the window!

No matter what he tried. It was as if the window was made out of a glass that defied everything. Perhaps it was magic or game programming at work. The window was unshatterable.

  9. Hey don’t!— but Emil’s words were in vain. Try as he might, the blond-haired swordsman could not shatter the window. Emil tipped his head to the side, puzzled at this new turn of events. This world was not far enough advanced to have shatter-proof windows and why of all places would a church have them? What owned or lived in this place and didn’t want other things escaping.

Tongue in cheek, Emil was about to suggest that they leave and try another door while they still had the torches, but that nagging feeling was back. Glancing from the head of the torch to the window and the graveyard beyond it, he gave a small smirk before speaking. Stand back. Let’s see if magic has the same effect.

He didn’t need to look at his grimoire for the incantation to this spell. He had used it time and time again during the war and when his energy was running low, it was the one spell he knew he would always have up his sleeve should he need it. Clearing his throat, the words foreign to the ear but familiar on his tongue, he cast a Fireball at the window to see if it truly was shatter-proof.

    Emil: Fireball on window!

The fireball reflected off the mysterious glass and hit the painting catching it ablaze. The room was slowly being engulfed into flames!

  11. His wrist hurt now, and the man was getting colder, so Zelrius withdrew to be near the torch, though instantly that was a regrettable torch. Because the torch (and the man holding it) moved back to the window and eyed it up and down. This left the golden haired man anxious as to what he was gonna do and rightly so. He took a step back instinctively.

Apparently, the gods willed that to be the right move, as the Fireball that he produced jumped around and began spreading itself everywhere like a worn down middleaged woman. And now everything was ablaze. While that certainly fixed the Light problem and the heat, it wasn't the fix Zelrius was looking for, so he sprang into action, not wanting the whole church to burn down.

Action; Use objects from around the room to Stamp out the Fire as best as possible, leave not even a flame left, with the exception of the torch Emil was holding. @Pandora

Zelrius: Using everything he can get his hands on in the room to put out the fire.

You would do whatever you could in a panic to stop the fire from spreading. The heat grew and you felt yourself getting burned but thankfully you succeeded in your goal. The painting was sadly now burnt beyond recognition. Whatever weird art it was meant to be was no more. In your hands you suddenly realize was a weapon. You had pulled the scythe stuck in the eye out during your effort.

It was not of extraordinary quality but there was something upon the blade. Words etched into it....

Four tiles south, two to the west of the false goddess.

The eye in the room was still dormant. It did not activate like the prior. A hiss resounded in the outer hall and a snarl was heard shortly afterwards. The feeling of dread grew enormously. Your very souls being peered into...

Zelrius lost 10 HP and 20 EN total. The party lost 5 EN from a malefic force.

Bradwynne stared quietly at the turn of events that were unfolding within the east room. In the room was another window that was the same as the window from the west room, a creepy-looking eye from the south-west room that was pierced through by a scythe, and a nondescript painting. As he saw the window being opened, he saw the same scenery of the graveyard from the west room. Everything was similar with the two sceneries, from the arrangement of the tombstones to the moon shining on it. But they were supposed to be there for only a couple of hours and yet the moon seemed to indicate that the were here for a long time. That and the very same arrangement of the tombstones between the two windows suggested that what they have been seeing through that window was just an illusion, and behind that window lied the true secret behind that church. Maybe breaking that window would be a solution, but after the series of events that were involved in trying to open that window, may it be of brute force or magic, ended in disaster. Fortunately for them, the scythe held some clues regarding where to progress next, although the instructions were vague as it referred to a "statue of the false goddess". Whether it was the statue in the prayer hall or some other statue was beyond him. There was one way to find out.

The makeshift torch in his left hand, Bradwynne moved to the adjacent room, hoping to search out more clues before entering the prayer hall. They should be ready for anything that that area would provide in the future.

Actions: Moving towards the north-east door.

The northeastern door opened and within was seen... a blue tinted wall. It was completely out of place and had a metallic sheen. It was vaguely translucent but anything past it was shadow and could not be made out. It was so bizarre it could only be called something magical or perhaps a glitch. Regardless nothing to do here.

Zelrius clutched the scythe carefully as the fire was petered out and he had lost some hp to the Flames. No matter, as that situation seemed to have been quickly dealt with, though it was quite costly on his Energy meter. That being said, it seemed there was no wait in the hearts of his party members, a sentiment he more than agreed with as he followed the party into the next room.

To their dismay, there seemed to be nothing but a weird wall of sorts. The golden haired man tapped the wall lightly with his scythe, only to conclude that it was exactly that; a Wall. He sighed, turning back to his allies and making a suggestion. "Are there any rooms we haven't been to that aren't locked?" Though he wasn't sure, the man had really hoped not, trying to find an excuse to leave before he remembered the inscription on the Scythe. "Actually, yknow what. Come with me," And like that, he was off.

Action: Flipping through diary for more clues

    Well…shit.

It hadn’t been his plan nor his intention to set the entire room on fire. Granted, he didn’t get hit by any of the flames, he did notice a few of them singed parts of their newest party member. Sheepishly, he helped stamp out a few errant flames. That done, he was fully prepared to apologize to both of them when he noticed Zelrius holding a scythe in his hands. Well, that certainly wasn’t there before.

And now we are granted boons while in this forsaken place? His voice held a healthy dose of both concern and sarcasm which was quickly matched by a shake of his head. It was hard to tell what Emil was feeling at the moment and when he turned to leave the room, he said nothing else. He was on Bradwynne’s heels as his party-member went to look in the other room. Noticing the blue-tinted wall, Emil immediately wanted to touch it to see its consistency. Something, however, held him back.

What do you think this is doing here? he asked the group at large only for his attention to be swayed to the blond swordsman and his question. To my knowledge, there are, perhaps, five other doors that we haven’t entered and two that we cannot enter at all. Neither of us, he gestured between himself and Bradwynne, have the requisite masteries nor key.

Curiously, Emil decided to follow Zelrius to the prayer hall, though he knew not why they were backtracking... Maybe the diary held some answers for them? Extracting it from his inventory, he stood near Zelrius and began to flip quickly through the pages to see if there was more information that he might not have seen beforehand.
