Private - Back To Back, Shield And Sword.

  1. “I think if my leg were in such a state to be considered mostly flat, I would have far graver concerns.” Alex teased in response to Solaria's example before taking a moment to take it slightly more seriously. “Ingenuity and necessity over superstition and pretense is always my choice. If you have an embarrassment of swords to your name as well, then clearly you have less concerns about scarcity and running out of sharp ones.” Alex laughed. “Of course if you wanted to dwell on your cutting example I could use it to give you a proper lecture on protective gear like armor.” She waggled her eyebrows as if issuing a non-verbal challenge for Solaria to accept and it was accompanied by a mischievous smirk.

“Being a faerin in a world made mostly for larger people, I often have to use my equipment to get creative just looking around at things and getting things off of displays in stores. So I am not the sort to profess greatly how weapons and armaments should be revered in any fashion. I consider myself more the kind of person that just wants all their gear to be well taken care of because preparedness is key.” Alex offered the better explanation of her viewpoint as she nestled against Solaria again, having shifted a bit during their conversation.

Alex felt like she had been talking a lot about herself, sharing her own viewpoints and opinions rather than allowing her new friend chances to talk, so tried to shift the conversation more towards Solara. The idea was to give her a better chance to talk about what she might want to without awkwardly just asking her. At the same time a little personal curiosity also drove her next question. “Does your friend explore Terrasphere as well? The one that used to be your healer?”

  2. The faerin had a point, Solaria had to admit. If her leg were totally flat, she'd be but a piece of paper in a notebook- or, at the very least, a very well-sanded-down-plank of wood. Then again, with that armor on, the young lady looked a lot like she was built in a metal shop by hardcore shop takers in high school or maybe university. Too well defined, well built.

"Size isn't everything. I'm pretty average, I think, my self. But even I have things that are hard to do with my height, you know? Lately, my dad- who's bigger than me by a long shot... He tends to rely on my baby brother to get things from under the sink. I do too, sometimes, when I'm home. It's nothing to be ashamed of to ask a shopkeeper for help, I'd say. Just something to keep in mind. It's good to be resourceful, but sometimes that means delegating tasks too."

She was starting to sound like her normal self, and it scared her to some degree. The point of the game was to let her be free, not calculate things for others in her puzzled mind. Sure, she was still a nitpick no matter where she went about the health of others, but could this count as being a nurse in the context of the advice?

Well, it probably was. It was given for the girl's health even if it did sound strategic, right?

"Aylen doesn't play the game, at least not that I know of. When I first started the game, I got a message with the client not to tell anyone- which, admittedly, should've turned me off I'm sure. But... That's why I didn't. Though she's probably heard about it since it's become more public. She just never brings it up, so I don't either. We play other games together instead, when we can. Old fashioned RPGs and mortal combat kinds of games."

Like in this world, she always took a samurai or swordsman if she had the option. Like in this world, she tried to protect anyone she could, with or without her sword... And like in this world, she was in charge (by her own design) to keep the woman she mentioned healthy.

"That reminds me... I wonder if Ay remembered her umbrella today?"

With a soft laugh, she enjoyed the snuggling once more. She pondered quietly for a short time, but though she shifted, it took a bit for her to decide on the words to ask the girl she held in return. "What about you? Any friends join you here? It's a bit awkward starting on your own, or I thought it was, but... It's kind of neat exploring a new world as a new person, so to speak. Meeting new people, learning things to bring to your own life... Sometimes, it can be an enriching experience. In a way, I do regret not being able to share it with her, I guess."
