Ortix was too close to the boss at the wrong time. Just after getting in his most recent swing, a beam of light struck the Spider Queen from above. He tried to stand his ground as best he could but it was to no avail. Though he kept himself from being knocked down, he slid backwards while still on his feet. This laser must have cost an unfathomable amount of mana. This laser was simply another chance for him to strike. He knew he wouldn't get a better chance than this to wale on the boss. Ortix was dead set on making the spider-beast regret not finishing him while it had the chance. His arm pulsated with strength due to a buff applied by an unknown caster. The moment the laser beam let up he dropped his guard and rushed ahead. With the Spider Queens torso downed, the upper leg he had been focusing was a much more easy target. Since the opportunity had arisen, Ortix grasped at it. He leap-frogged above the her leg and came down hard on the above side with his spear forming a nice ring of cracks. A proud look assumed itself on Ortix's face; This is what he was trying for the whole time.

"Only a couple more blows now and this thing'll come clean off!" He shouted while feeling the Spider Queen lift her torso off the ground. With the new angle of her legs, Ortix slid off rapidly onto the dirt below. He then jumped backwards and readied himself knowing an attack from her was long overdue.

    488 / 2000 》

As the Spider Queen’s health begins to drop massively, being stabbed, burnt, and crushed, the giantess began to stagger from either pain or all of the injures she had received thus far. In fact, her front legs had sustained so much damage that the last blow to them made severed them completely, forcing blood to ooze from the vacant socket. The red stained the ruined forest, painting it in an eerie crimson.

Anyone who was paying attention could see that the health bar that had been steadily flashing all this while had begun speeding up until it turned red. Her body too, began flashing a dangerous red as she let out scream after scream, roar after roar, each one more monstrous than the rest. It was so loud that you could feel as though your ear drums are punctured.

Within a minute or two, what was once a feminine humanoid shape slowly collapsed onto itself. It seemed as though her human parts were being consumed by the spider part. Whatever you could see in that mess is sure to be emotionally damaging. Eventually, the entire spider part started to scrunch up as though it was dying. But in the span of a few minutes, the formerly smooth, spider body had been replaced with a roughly-textured and hairier body. The Spider Queen’s upper body was no longer present, instead, replaced with a monstrous spider face with four massive mandibles on each quadrant of her massive oral gape lined with teeth.

Although she was still missing two of her middle legs, the other six still functioned well, but they are now incredibly thick and dotted with massive spikes; if you didn’t die from being crushed to death, the spikes would have impaled you.

    Arachna is now enraged

    profile

With two of her front legs, she swung it inward, slamming the people standing at the point of their connection. Then, taking those same legs, she swiped it from north to south, dealing the same amount of devastation as before. After letting out a monstrous roar unlike anything the people there had heard.

The gargantuan spider then began to tremble violently, building up a great force before the hair on its body was expulsed with incredible force, impaling everyone within the vicinity. Anyone who were standing close were luckier than those further away, considering the sharp hairs do not have enough momentum to hurt them nearly as much.

    Arachna attacks

Attack 1 – Inward Razor Swipe Anyone who is close and located in the northern half from E to W (semi-circle) will take 20 damage. Anyone who is in N - close, will take an extra 10 damage (so 30 in total @Rudiford Galland and @Aaron Marone).

Attack 2 – Razor Side Swipe Anyone who is close will take 20 damage regardless of direction. @Rudiford Galland and @Aaron Marone takes this hit too.

Alpha watched in horror as the remotely-human parts of the Spider Queen began getting eaten from the inside and out and, this time, Alpha didn't have to try not to vomit. She just did. Straight into the spider's wound as retched and heaved and sat down on the disgusting skin. The up-close sight of the stitching and weaving flesh left her distracted, taking a hit that brought her life bar down a little and gave her a sting and ache on her left shoulder. She didn't care, opting to instead think about her ailing throat and stomach as she continued heaving out sandwiches (she was surprised the game actually saved it in her stomach rather than delete the item upon consumption) and it dripped and soaked in the open wound.

Her vomit was apparently toxic or something because the spider-creature began to shiver a bit at the spot where her throw-up in. She wasn't sure if it was because the beast was grossed out or actually injured, but she counted it as a win. She really did need a win after all of this and, sadly, she wished she was old enough to get a drink or two. She heard that solved wonders for a very, very bad day. Below her, Terry was attempting to climb one of the spider's remaining legs to no avail. Paws are not good for climbing.

She crept from her hiding place, now unsure of whether it was a good idea to stick around much longer. Things were starting to look grim, and she wasn't one to die for a lost cause. Once more good whack, and then she'd retreat, feeling that she's done her part in all of this as well as anyone could ask her to. She saw the numerous supporters scrambling to keep Aaron on his feet, the disorganized attackers failing to do enough damage to matter, and now the behemoth spider queen was enraged and attacking fervently.

she was almost ready to steel herself for another charge when a strange whistle pierced the air. Her instincts screamed to dodge, and even as she tried to flatten herself, she felt her body pierced in several places by some sort of long wire thin projectile. the adrenaline and shock numbed the pain for now, but it was then and there that she decided she'd had enough of this. She gingerly tried to remove one of the hair darts that protruded from her thigh, and realized that she would have to seek out shelter and proper medical supplies to safely remove them.

Leon bit his lip as the enraged monster attacked, its human facade slipping into its presumably natural form. Its hairs impaled his waist, him barely managing to dodge an attack that would've split him in half straight in middle just like Solomon did to the baby. He was still exhausted and drained from the web and, once again, narrowly escaped with his life when the beast threw a swipe around the field with one of its remaining legs. Panting and focusing solely on the creature, he once again threw his arm up, opening the spell menu as he quickly selected a random spell. He didn't have much time.

    "Blood for the blood god..."

After a few minutes worth of chanting, a purple blast spiraled from his outstretched palm, aiming straight for the beast. He took a deep gasp for breath, wheezing and holding himself up with his hands on his kneecaps. This was a tough fight but at least they got some visible damage done.

Merkaba would have returned to her normal on fazed poise after a short time. The arcana beam was impressive indeed. She needed to be wary of those cultists. The fact she had a means to infiltrate their ranks was all the more
beneficial to her in the end. Gripping her scythe she decided that maybe it was time to get serious. The creature was unlikely to have any intellectual discourse about darker deeds with her. So Merkaba might as well help it find rest. These others were not going to let it continue to live for much longer. Their petty persistence was working ever so slowly.

Before Merkaba could ready her next attack however. The queen would unleash what seemed to be her trump card. A metamorphosis into a full arachnid form. How disappointing. It was more like a devolution then evolution. The queen was now simply a insect. How fitting for it to be crushed beneath Merkaba's heel. It had failed the dark gods in falling to these wretches. Merkaba would grant it it's judgement. Death for failure. The creature that was once a powerful spider queen now just a rampaging insect desperate for life, used a trio of attacks. Trying with all of it's remaining energy to finish off the humans that assailed it. A rain of sharp hair flew towards Merkaba.

The dark witch rose up her right arm in front of her and bent it over her face and twisted to the right. Many spikes flew past, the rest stuck into her arm like needles. A small amount of stinging accompanied the attack. Merkaba shook her arm and the needle hair fell out. That was the sign to finish this she supposed.

"Farewell dark minion. You have failed."

Merkaba stuck her scythe into the ground and summoned her Abyssal Spear that she used against the statue earlier at a more advanced level. This time two spears of dark energy were released from behind her. Stabbing the spider deeply in it's back.

Merkaba used Abyssal Spear(s) on the Queen for 34 Damage!

Sounds like a plan, first round’s on you. I’ll cover second round.
    @Astor Balthas

It appeared that time was no longer on their side. As the creature enraged, Jack could only standby patiently while assisting his comrades in arms as best he could. A slight look of disdain was given towards those who had begun to flee the battlefield however. “Typical. Taking the easy way out when the going gets tough.”

Though he too was also somewhat injured from the hail of tendrils that had covered the entire field, it wasn’t much more than a light bruising at best. Gritting his teeth to press forward, he’d let out a cry while chanting out yet another damage enhancement spell to buff his allies.

The horrible spider woman thing was really freaking out! Magi Heart was about to throw up... the monster's body... it was... melting into itself! Ewww, really? Wendy almost ran for the log out button when that was happening. This was gross and Magi Heart wanted it gone now. She didn't care about being nice to something this gross and evil! She could only hope everyone could beat it quickly. cause she could not stand this gross thing much longer. She repeated a quiet mantra to herself. No magical girl worth their pretty broaches would run from something for just being gross. Magi Heart could see this through!

Then came the rain of sharp spider hair. It fell over her and she yelped loudly as she shook and fell to her knees. It hurt pretty bad! This sucked! Maybe this game was not that fun after all! Quickly trying to take them out she started to sweat a little. This was for real she thought as she rubbed her hurting cheek where a needle had struck. Her hand came off showing her face had a slight red mark from the wound. Her eyes began to tear up.

This... wasn't good. Magical girls do not cry! Ooooh... she threw out her white magic with a shout of tears!

Woah, she thought as the incandescent flare of arcane energy arched overhead, crashing into the spider will all the force of those high powered canons that she would admire from futuristic animes. She, too, had arcanamancy as one of her masteries, but comparing the power she could muster to the absolute force shown before her was akin to comparing a toothpick to a armour-piercing arrow. The boss' health immediately shot down, falling into the red's and flashing, and her other allies wasted no time, snatching the opportunity to end the battle, scrambling between Arachna's legs and — was that girl on the spider!? — dealing damage whenever they could.

With the boss close to death, no one seem to care much about healing any longer. Focusing, a sacred geometrical glyph appeared beneath her feet, hallowing her in a soft, warm light. Before she could send the buff in anyone's direction, however, she saw the spider rear up, lashing at anyone unfortunate enough to be in her vicinity. Just as Amane relaxed, out of the boss' range as she was, the spider began to convulse, launching razor thin hairs in all directions. To her horror, a few soared directly to her location. She ran, sprinting in a random direction in an attempt to avoid the needle-like projectiles. She wasn't sure how effective that was, but some hit her nonetheless, whittling away her health by about a fifth, wrecking her arms with blinding pain.

After the attack subsided, from a glance the Felis could tell that those furthest away took the most damage from that sweeping AOE. Naturally, as a support character she could not venture into the front lines. Still, the afterimage of the pain still stark in her mind, she discreetly — or what she hoped was discreet — strolled closer, into the middle range of distance from the boss.

What? She wasn't going to take damage if she could avoid it.

Casting a glance around, nearby her was a boy, about her age in real life, hurling what looked like arcanamancy (or malefimancy?) spells at the boss. He didn't seem to have much in the way of gear, either. A newbie? She thought. He seemed to be doing a consistent amount of damage, and so Amane resumed her previous casting. When she was done, she dashed off to another location, not staying behind to see the effect.

Unfortunately for Nalani, moving farther away was probably the worst decision she could make. She was shocked when the sharp hairs came ramming towards her and the others that were farther away, letting out a gasp of pain as she watched the damaged deplete on her health bar... 115 out of 135, not so bad. She could still continue to fight if she wanted to, so moving forward and closer to the beast, and set her eyes once more on her target.

Her muttering was quieter once again as she pasted together the words of another skill, pointing wand in the direction of the spider queen as she landed yet another successful hit. Her gaze flicked around the adventurers around her, ignoring the new look that the spider queen had taken on in front of her. She did not like spiders, they were not a thing that she enjoyed, and neither was the puking girl on the back of the spider. She squeezed her eyes shut for a moment and shook her head, before looking to see if any of her friends were hurt- Or worse, dead.

Alphabet was okay, and looking past the spider, she could see Jack on the other side, alive and well. Taking a deep breath as if to just calm herself, she finally turned back onto the spider in front of her, Facing my fears... It's what I need to do to truly become the best me I can. And that she could do.

Aaron shouted in pain as the spider struck him three times, reducing his total health by over a third of what his current maximum was. He spat, blood and saliva leaving his mouth. This game had a strange sense of realism, and more and more Aaron was beginning to wonder if there was some twisted motive behind everything. No matter, right now he had a spider to focus on, nothing else but killing that mattered.

Aaron slashed his sword toward the creature, once again his sword finding it's mark and cutting as deep as Aaron had the strength to cut. "I'm not going down that easily," Aaron said. "I will buy as much time as I possibly can. If that's all my life is worth, that's all it's worth. But it's enough. I have held the line! I will hold the line! I have not faltered, and I will not falter! I don't know what gods above may exist in this world, but today I speak my oath to them. Sera cursed as she found herself getting impaled by strange hairs. She was taking damage now? That was not at all part of the plan! What was the point of having idiots in armor out in front of you if you were going to get hit anyway? Still, it wasn't much damage, little enough that she could heal most of it, but it was enough that she didn't want it sitting there and risk growing it. Rather than let it grow into an issue, she figured she'd include herself in her next bit of healing. A bit on herself, a bit on those two idiots who seemed to take the most of the brute force of the creature's attacks.

Sera placed her hand on Roy. "Hear my call, oh heavens and earth, answer my prayer. Let the darkness that seeks to harm be dispelled, and let the light that burns allow shade for shelter. Let the balance be maintained, let those who deserve to live breathe life's breaths yet more still." A rainbow of light sparkled around her, @Rudiford Galland , and @Aaron Marone . Content in what she'd done, she gave a light "Hrumpf" of satisfaction. The spider bitch looked like she was almost dead. The human half of her dissapeared, at least. That was interesting. The boss howled as it entered into a rage and began to swing wildly. First it attempted to rid itself of the tanks who had drawn it's attention and attacked in front leaving Ortix in the safe zone. With its next volley of attacks, however, he would not be as lucky. The Spider Queen swept around itself with it's leg like a scythe, slicing open both of Ortix's thighs. Without letting up, it ejected the thin, needle-like hairs which coated its body. Most of them flew in an arch patter far above his head while one rather large hair found purchase in his left shoulder. His entire arm soon fell numb, the hair must have struck a nerve. Ortix was on the defensive now until he received some much needed inspiration in the form of a damage buff from the same caster as before. Without giving himself a chance to let the adrenaline wear off, He jolted forward towards the boss letting out a war-cry to let everyone know he wasn't quite dead yet.

"ALRIIIIIIIIIGHT!" He continued on into possible oblivion. If the boss a few more hits on him, he was as good as dead but he had no time to think of that now. He weaved in and out of craters left by attacks from both sides with a trail of blood in his wake. As he got closer he noticed the spider's limp. A fiendish smile rose on his face when he realized why. The force of his allies attacks put heavy pressure on the beasts legs, one such leg was particularly hurting. It was the leg he'd been widdling away at for the past couple of hours. With the intent to remove the Spider Queen's extremity, he came at it from the side this time. The moment his spear so much as pricked her naked flesh, it released all the pressure stored in the area. Blood rocketed out like a fire hydrant, missing Ortix this time.

Roland grinned as he saw the giant spider begin to curl up into itself, “It’s almost over…” he thought wistfully until he glanced at the monster’s health bar. It was something that up until this point he had been pointedly ignoring as the prolonged battle ensued, after all he had been one of the first responders and still stood in the fray unwilling to back out. What he saw now, though, was alarming as the health bar began to turn red, and the former queen shrivel and die away. “No, its going into frenzy mode!” Roland exclaimed to the few people around him, but it was too late as the spider coated the area in blood before evolving and ripping forth doing several dangerous swipes of damage the culmination of practically covered the entire battle field. (Roland takes 26 damage)

There wasn’t anything Roland could do but block, and endure as the hair strands and legs slammed into him. He had seemingly been saved from the worst attack, by standing on this side of the spider, but his health bar wasn’t full to begin with. Gritting his teeth in determination he ran forward, “There’s no backing down now!” he screamed as he lunged his blade into one of the spider’s leg causing it to erupt in a mixture of blood and black ichor (26 damage). After landing the blow, he jumped back as far as he could watching the spider's movements. As much as he wanted to continue and attack the spider's legs he knew he couldn't take long lasting damage, at least not at this rate.

Rein was simply ecstatic. He didn’t know the cause of the monster’s transformation, but truly this was an improvement. Or rather it may have been a coming back to form. He simply couldn’t tell. This fight had been an emotional roller coaster for him, and the adrenaline that had been pumping through his system was losing its effect. Even though he sat covered in blood (some of which being his own from the brutal attack the spider had performed -25 HP), and cheered the monster on, he felt hollow. It’s as if his actions during this battle were completely void of meaning. As if this entire display wasn’t built specifically for him. Of course it was utter nonsense, he knew that whatever force shaped this world, did so for his delights, but maybe this was an exception. Perhaps the adventurers were having more of an effect on his reality that he had realized.

Forcing the thoughts out of his head, he charged forward without abandon at the spider. The only thing that did make sense was the feeling he gained when attacking the beast, truly it was a sign of something higher above. He weaved in-between the legs and mandibles and sunk his fist into the side of the creatures newly formed mouth with a laugh of glee (dealing 12 damage), before rocketing himself backwards out of its immediate vicinity.
