Wherever @Minerva Alexandria may be, a voice could be heard beseeching her. Should she react negatively and turn her environment upside down, she would fine nothing more than dust and mice skittering once their hiding place has been exposed. Tried as she might, she would be unable to identify the origin of the voice. It said,

"As promised, we are contacting you now. Let me introduce myself, I am Ser Valand, one who works with a certain powerful individual. Our organization, the Vigil is looking for talents like you, who can quickly decipher hidden messages and work efficiently toward their goal. First and foremost, we need to determine if you fit the profile of what we are looking for.
    1. Firstly, how do you view the nation of Astorea and its current king?
    2. Secondly, would you choose blind justice over morality? Why?
    3. Lastly, can you keep a secret? How?
If you need time to consider your answers, all you have to do is ask. What is your answer, Lady Minerva Alexandria?"

  2. img The voice interrupting Minerva's thoughts only brought a quiet smile to her face. That did not take long at all. Astorea was in a hurry. If there was one thing she had to give them, the players that created it were committed to their creation. Astor wanted his domain to be something to last for years, possibly ages. Strange for someone who likely just saw it as a game and not life. Maybe there was more about him Minerva did not know? Of course her assumption that this was a scheme from the top did not necessarily mean it was truth. This could very well be a plot by some counter organization. Possibly even with Cessia involved.

Then came three questions. All of which were easy for Minerva to answer.Simply because she had two sides much like many did. This attempt to see past her Paladin persona was not in line with her objectives. So the character Maya designed from the start would be all they get from her

"Ser Valand is it? Nice to hear you. Not showing yourself is not very becoming of a recruiter. I will answer you inquiries regardless, however know that I have not mingled with Astoreans as much as many others that you may be contacting."

Lowering her head slightly and speaking lower, a veil of shadow over her eyes under blonde bangs. Minerva would answer each in order.

"His Majesty King Astor. is loyal to the people who have gone under his wing. I do not know what he desires for the long term. Astorea will hopefully flourish with him at the helm. Although... there are many forces that could take that away from him. Of the monstrous, natural, and human variety. The gods as well. While we see nothing of them, they exist in the lore and are surely aware of the Kingdom's appearance. Godspeed to him."

This next question was the most piercing to the core of who Minerva was. morality/ Justice? Indeed she sought to be a person of great worth, merit, and power in this world. Indeed she sought to uphold a righteousness that her parents and the real world had lost long ago... no according to history, it never was truly realized. Yet, she was not above cutting down anyone who got in her way. Or dealing with someone less savory for the sake of her future. This was not the answer that fit her character of course.

"Blind justice is dangerous. Without morals... a King is a Tyrant. the same goes for most things. From the knowledge of the situation that I had gathered, King Theodore was the epitome of such problems."

A secret? Of course that was easy and...

"Even if I said yes. Which is the truth. Do you believe me? These questions are very easy to fabricate. I would cautious of who you do this with in the future. Now... Ser Valand. I will say something else."

She looked back up and began to walk again.

"Whether you want fortune or misfortune for this region. My sword only is for that which does right. We may be enemies someday if you cross the wrong lines. I reject your offer. Forgive me. I am taking leave of this land soon and have no desire to be embroidered into any further conflicts of interest here. Giving Astor the crown was enough."

With that Minerva ignored the voice and headed to leave Astorea. With the full intent to not return for a long time if ever.

"Words are indeed cheap, Lady Minerva, we are staunchly aware of this fact and heavily vet our candidates. Although your answers and strong stance is very much along the same line as our faction, your ambition seem to reside elsewhere. May you find what your heart desires..."

After the short speech, the voice ceased to exist, along with the vague presence of its master. Whatever that had happened in the short time @Minerva Alexandria was there would feel like a fleeting dream. Within a few minutes, the chilling air bit into the swords-woman's exposed flesh, as if to urge her to find proper shelter, away from the late and lonely winter winds.
