Just as @Aalam Abungu finished his sentence and was about to lean on the door, his entire bearing came loose as he found himself spinning out of control, enough to induce some level of nausea. However, with one blink, he found himself sitting at the end of the counter.

Should he look around him, the tavern seemed rather different. In fact, all the patrons seemed to have disappeared. He was on his own, glued to the wooden stool, a mug of whatever he was drinking in front of him. Then, there was the back of the barkeep within his field of vision. Without revealing his face, the barkeep spoke.

"Welcome to the VIP bar, before we begin, let me introduce myself. I am Ser Valand and I am employed by a certain powerful individual. Our organization, the Vigil is looking for talents like you, who can quickly decipher hidden messages and work efficiently toward their goal. First and foremost, we need to determine if you fit the profile of what we are looking for.
    1. Firstly, how do you view the nation of Astorea and its current king?
    2. Secondly, would you choose blind justice over morality? Why?
    3. Lastly, can you keep a secret? How?
What is your answer, my fellow man?"

  2. Aalam was surprised he was now at the bar after something had happened, well that was something meant that there had to be a person with a significant level of power who was pulling the string behind this meeting. He was right apparently the person who was running this was being employed by a powerful individual. That was something but the thing that he found the most interesting was he introduced him with the title Ser. The man was asking so tricky question, and he was fully aware that he would be able to bull shit his way out of this. Taking a swig from his mug felling the nice burn of rum makes its way down his throat, he was going to need to focus. However, he never looked up from his cup of rum, keeping his eyes on the wooden surface.

“The kingdom, as far as I know, it is in a sticky situation we do not know who or what is on our borders, and we have managed to come to peace with Falderen. However, the country still seems to be in an economic slump which might be laid at the feet of people like me. That is not a reflection if the king I am impressed with him so far. I heard that he lead that assassination team to take out the mad king, that is worthy of respect.

As for the second thing, I have seen many people in this game, and I have seen many people do terrible things. However many people seem to can’t get their hands dirty it’s like the thought of doing something like this would be wrong. I had a job under Seto I help him cleaned up, I did a thing so that no one else had to. The world needs people like me who can do those things; it helps it to run smoother and quieter. Morality is nice, but for the sake of a kingdom it must be put to the side.”

Taking a final swig from his tankard drinking the thing in one go, looking around the room at the empty seats. “What are you talking about I was just speaking to myself thing out loud you know. I was in a dive bar a few miles away from here drinking my sorrows down. Spending the even talking to a wall, woman troubles you know?”

"Well then, you sound exactly the kind of personnel we are looking for then!"

The barkeep who has been wiping the glass with his back turned toward @Aalam Abungu all this while turned around and revealed his sleek face and neatly-trimmed flaxen hair. His expression alone indicated that his patron's answers were pleasant on the ears. After all, he took a big risk by inviting Aalam to see his face; however, it seemed that the man was worthy of enlistment after all.

Without giving Aalam a chance to study the flavor of his drink, the blonde spoke right away, not skipping a bit of details out of consideration for Aalam's receptiveness toward his presence.

"Then it seems that you are exactly whom we are looking for. I am with the Knight's Vigil, ones who specializes in espionage, studying information that are strewn about in every walk of the Astorean life. We are looking for those who are loyal to the crown and wish to keep it on the King's head for as long as we are able.

Although Astorea appears rather stable in the present time, there are many who look at the crown with lust, organizing their own faction and fostering alliances for nefarious deeds. Like all King, his majesty requires insurance.

...This is the result of that desire, an organization of Knights dedicated to espionage and only deploying when the time comes. It is our goal to identify insurgences before they become a problem and eliminate them. In a way, you can call us the Kingsmen, who work for his and the country's interest. Will you become a Knight and lend your undying fealty to the crown?"

  4. Aalam rests the now empty tankard on the counter of the bar giving the man his full attention. Well, it seemed that he was right when he thought that this man was someone famous. Well, this was going to be interesting if nothing else. Reaching across the wood and under the bar pulling out a second bottle rum and refilling his cup as he listened.

It seemed that they were looking for a person that was willing to get their hands dirty but who still have a decent amount of loyalty to the king. That was wise if they were putting together these kingsmen as he called it. It was something that any ruling body needed, but he was surprised that the kingdom didn’t have one already. Well, that was to be expected Astorea was still a new kingdom they would not have the time and organizations in place as the others. It was nice to see that his trust in the king wasn't missed placed however the man did seem to care about the kingdom as a whole. Popping the cork off his bottle and fulling his tankard back up to the rim. If he was going to choose this, he was going to do so right.

“You are right the kingdom is a new creation, and like all new creations, it still teeters on edge. We have been able to extend its life for a period and with the information that we cannot fully trust even our neighbors.” Taking a sip of his rum out of that jug, well that had a nice flavor to it. He understood what the man was asking, and the crown had taken a good risking in doing this. He did wonder for a few seconds if that if everyone in the bar had been an illusion “So you want us to find, identify and fix problem elements before they arise to cause a problem for the kingdom. Well, I was looking for new job, and this seems like it would be a good one. Hmm ok then, Semper Fidelis.” With two words he swore his service to the crown, it would be of better or for worst. However, if there were able to prevent something like the war that had just happened, it would be for the best. Drinking down the last of his rum, “So what’s next and am I correct in assuming that you're going to be heading this group?”

"That sounds like a very good summary of your tasks with the Vigil. You are absolutely correct, although you do not have to lend your service until you are required. We would like some reports on the activities around Astorea, think of yourself as a sleeper agent. Oh and I am not heading the Vigil myself, Lady Cessia will be leading the operations."

Clide answered @Aalam Abungu's questions without pretense. The young man seemed to have certain kind of respect for the older-looking man, hoping he could improve Aalam's opinion of him, even if it was little.

Before Aalam could speak again, Clide lowered his voice as his eyes became rather sharp.

"Given our profession, Vigil Knights don't just get to learn all of the political secrecy without an oath. Some factions will simply take a verbal oath, others may make a blood pact, but for the Vigil, you get a special brand--like this..."

Clide leaned over the table and wrestled with his armor to reveal a mark below his collar bone; it was a circle with a V in the center.

"This is the last requirement for your Knighthood, a special brand that will allow special seekers to hunt you down should you betray your Knightly Oath. If you agree to that term, then we are done here and we will reconvene with the rest of the Vigil in a week time to get the Knighting and marking ceremony done. Your job will start after that. Are you absolutely certain you want to go through with this? The truth does not come for free."

  6. Aalam reached behind the counter again this time feeling for a next mug he needed something smaller than his tankard but one that was still big enough. Finding one and resting it on top of the counter and filling up the glass with rum topping off his tankard at the same time. Pushing the now full glass across the table towards the young lad, tipping his mug in that direction before taking a sip. The lad had taken a risk to show up here as he did, that was due to a bit of respect. Hell, he would even like to meet his Lady Cessia one day the woman seemed to have the respect of the young lad, and that was something if nothing else. He was surprised no how involved with the kingdom he was becoming, he had never planned to be involved, but it seems that plans changed.

He was a bit surprised when his voice changed so suddenly however it seemed that the mark he was a real feat of magic. It would be stronger than simple oath that was taken with words; he did feel a bit of shame in the world that a man’s word was not their bond. He was able to make out that mark it was a small thing no more significant than his thumbnails. That was something that could easily be hidden if need be. The more that he thought about, the easier it was to protect it would make much for him to get in on the inside of an arm or the back of the neck right below his hair.

To allow someone to track, well not even someone an entire group of people to track down and person. That a significant bit of magic to us for anyone one person, it showed their seriousness to the task. That was something to see however it seemed that he thought all the things he was just told was going to frighten him away. “There is no such thing as a free lunch, which was a phrase my dad used to say. It means that everything has a price. I already said I would always be faithful before and I meant it. I will be at your ceremony. Now drink.” Taking the next sip from his flask, he had already agreed to do this, and he was aware that it was going to be a much dark road but he had his light, and it was a pleasant memory. So there was nothing that he would not do to keep that safe.

"That saying appears deceptively simple, but it does convey a clear message. Your father is a wise man, ser."

Clide flashed a warm smile toward @Aalam Abungu's direction as he reached for the tankard and raised it up, clanking the container against Aalam's drink, before he brought it up to his lips for a big swig, solidifying his potential relationship with a colleague.
