  1. _____One would think after two wars the city would be in far worse shape than it currently stood in. Such would lead one to assume, possibility one, the military strength of the nation was over average to minimize damage. Possibility two, the nations resources and worker populus was exceptionally good and fast responding. Possibility three, the nation sought outside help during or after the wars. Lastly Possibility four, Something the cloaked girl could not think of at the time as she walked the seen better days streets of Vintergard. It honestly would not surprise Kaede she could not think of the reason the area was how it currently was, but she was here to find out how among other things.

_____Kaede was easy to notice, her crimson cloak drifting with minor wind current towards the cart of wild game remains she had chose to bring to this town as well as her small chest carrying funds for the information she hoped to both gather and memorize. She was planning something that any smart person would need to first gather information about, afterall it was not everyday you try to build a small hunter village in someone else's backyard without asking them for permission and negotiating some fair terms, supplies for protection under their banner among other things.

_____However now was not the time for Kaede to worry about such things, she still had her cart full of pelts, poorly preserved meats, and animal parts to sell off before she could go around looking for answers without worry of going home empty handed. Her cart wobbling unease, the long troubled road she took to arrive with her supplies showed in the worn wheels and damaged parts of her cart from animal, creature, and people alike. The crowds growing thicker as Kaede moved against most towards the trading district of town.

_____Kaede knew likely the cause for such influx of people, with war come loses, supplies needed and merchants from here and far to absorb what they could by those who could not get it other ways. She herself had no mind for such a thing, a huntress, a politician, not merchant nor extorter of the exposed wounds on the city's state. She made herself an oath as she kept moving towards a empty spot to charge little to no for her items, what she needed was simply a penny to give to those with loose lips and low morals at the shine of a few coins.

_____There was a number of open spots, however Kaede chose one beside those who sold likewise items to the people of Vintergard. A real merchant would likely set up where they stood out, provided something to catch the eye of those passing and anchor them down until a coin was made. Her only standing out features would have been her cloak that was soon removed and folded up for a small bed for her wolf pup to rest on.With Tsuki-Yomi resting happily on the cart and her cloak Kaede looked rather plain outside the higher quality dagger at her waist beside a metal rose.

”Get you Hylands pelts and meats here, fair prices on any item in the cart, well except my coat and my wolf pup!”

_____Kaede nervously laughed as she figured to add her best friend and her favorite cloak was not for sale. Yomi was in agreement as he happily barked before drifting back to sleep as Kaede sat beside him to scratch behind his ear and wait for customers to arrive at her cart. For the most part she was ignored, only chiming up to speak every so often but in no real rush to get her cart empty or get back to her cave. The things she cared to keep she took with her and everything else was simply material burden she could always reobtain over hunting.

”Excuse me miss, do you have anything you could spare…”

_____Kaede’s attention moved to a small child, they looked ready to fall over at any moment and it made Kaede more worried about such rather then selling items from her cart. Reaching behind her seated spot on her gold filled chest to take a small pack of meat and leather to give the kid with a kind smile before they thanked her and rushed away into some allies. Kaede herself happy to help, and that she made sure it was jerky so if they did not have a fire they could eat it without worry.

  2. Ah... Vintergard... or as some lazy players have colloquially come to call it, Winterguard. Who knew what the "Vinter" in the name had to do with anything, for as far as Captain Cosma knew, the place wasn't known for its wine... much less guarding it.

Speaking of which... Captain Cosma was currently walking through one Winterguard's trading district looking for some cool and funny things. This was one of Captain Cosma's favorite pastimes, which was to say that she basically enjoyed antiquing.

She'd currently bought a cheap woolen winter overcoat, some doodads, some trinkets, a gadget or two, a sausage on a stick, some experimental popcorn an adventurer had come up with in both prepared and camp-cook-ready varieties, a small tent, a portable umbrella (which was all together something pretty rare), various flavored candy potions, some -actual- potions, empty bottles, bottles of limited edition orange-peel soda, preserved pickles, an apple, a few replacement ascots, 3 cotton handkerchiefs, a kite, a survival knife, rope, more rope, lots of rope, you always need rope, a lumen crystal mana-lamp, map paper, a rare fountain pen invented by a certain pompous nobleish girl, extra paint berries for her sprayer, some flint stones which she could adapt for her spark maker, comfy inner-soles for her boots, an extra blanket for her hammock, a nice but rustic compass, the other kind of compass that you use for drawing, some chalk for drawing, soap, a washcloth, one bucket, tonight's dinner of potato soup, salt to taste, and cream, some milk as well, there were also some spare undershirts, underwear, toiletries, a hair brush, some dice for fun and function, dried oatmeal for breakfast, a net, spare buttons which were hard to come by, and some sewing thread, and a pan that would serve in a campfire, and finally, an old fisherman's almanac.

It was quite a bit to cram in her inventory, but at the same time, much of it was on sale. Her treasure funds had taken a bit of a hit, but in her opinion, these were things with a long shelf-life that would really get put to use, so she was satisfied.

Marching along suddenly she came to a sudden stop. Could it be?! Cosma's ears perked up, I sense a puppy!

Like she was being pulled along by a current of an aimless sea, Cosma somehow drifted in the correct direction to where she came upon a girl in a red hooded cloak.

    There! It! Isssssss~!

"Haowawawa! So cute! Excuse me lady! Can I pet the puppy? Can I please! Yes, yes! Say yes, please!"

Crouching down and hugging her knees, she held out her open palm toward the dog bed.

    "Haaaay~doggieee~ Ama' doggy~too~! Heeehee~! Woof~!"

If one had good ears, they would her the Famigna girl's stubby tail waving as fast as an airplane propeller. Continuing to wave the little wolf over, Captain Cosma turned her attention to the owner of this little fluffball of bliss, @Kaede Hoshi.

"Hao~hao~? This is some pretty neat stuff, where'ja come by it, hmmm? Ar'ya some kinda outlander?"

  3. _____Both Kaede and Tsuki-yumi taken by shock as the girl asked to pet Yumi who looked up sleepily and licked his nose before sniffing the air. Kaede blinking at the girl for a few moments before it dawned on her she was asking to pet her wolf, not a small puppy. Blinking a few times before Kaede looked over to Yumi who simply moved his head closer not wanting to move from his spot. Kaede laughing lightly before she moved so the girl could pet him, a hand waving for her to go ahead in case just moving out of the way was not enough.

”Sorry once he gets into a comfy spot he does not like to move much. Just try not to pet his back or he will bite.”

____Kaede tried to sound slightly serious about the warning, while she knew Yumi would never bite someone hard, simply just bite them to show he did not enjoy getting petted anywhere but his head. If she did not rapidly pet him the wolf would lift his head and try to hit to pet his lower jaw, a sign of slightly trusting them before moving to curl back up to sleep happy to be petted.

”Yes, Almost everything i have in my cart is from Hylands, some i got along the way but most of that is already planned to be given to some people in town who can't afford but need it once i get it properly turned into sheets, least the pelts.”

____Kaede always tried to speak on the side of caution, while some would likely see it as her not thinking people could draw some conclusion without her say such it was simply how she felt to speak. One thing Kaede was still unsure about was how this world worked, and until then she would do what she could to tread carefully. Moving her focus to her cart before turning to smile at the girl.

”Anything in particular that catches your eye, or was it just Tsuki-yumi and his fur. Ha-ha. Takes forever to keep that wolf pup clean, then he will just go and get covered in mud or dirt again.”

  4. "Let sleeping dogs lie, huh~hehe."

She beamed a smile as she gently stroked the little snoozer's ears before turning her head back upwards toward the pretty lady in a red cloak.

"Catches my eye, hm? Well...no...ahh... How do I put this? Something's catching my nose, I guess? And that something is you. You smell super interesting lady, and I don't mean that in a pervy way."

    Captain Cosma laughed.

"The nose knows, yeah? So you say you've been to The Hylands? Funnily enough, I haven't, maybe that's why it smells so interesting!"

Rising, Cosma took a big stretch and another big breath of fresh air.

"Well, to tell ya the truth, my pack's dang near stuffed, so maybe nothing from the cart, so how about some kinda deal instead?"

With a smile, she produced a small handful of gold coins.

"Mhmm, see, I'm kinda a traveler myself! So~~~I was thinking~~~what if you described your routes for me and I jot em' down on a freshly made map or something! Hunting pelts really isn't my thing so you don't gotta worry about that! Hao Hao~ Would that be okay? It'da save me a whole lotta trouble~!"

  5. _____It took Kaede a few moments to find the words she wanted, rather should say. While it was not the fact she did not trust the girl it was just not everyday people asked her to recall routes she had taken on the flip of a dime. Moving to open her inventory window and pick out a large scroll before offering it to the girl with a smile. It was a very badly drawn map but it showed the routes clear enough and Kaede knew most of the safe routes by heart to not need the map. Clearing her throat Kaede tried to recite her thoughts behind the map.

”The darker the color the more dangerous the route was… Any red circles was I think monster breeding / territory I scouted. Sorry if it’s simple, I just tried to quick make it and see if I could find any maps that match it made from better map makers to help them but I trust it in your hands to do just that. Afterall it is not every day Tsuki-yumi let’s someone pet him.”

_____Kaede would blush slightly while smiling, she was a kind heart and hopefully her choice would help the girl with what she wanted. Yumi moving to rest his head on Kaede’s lap once she sat back down in her spot and fell asleep again while she pet behind his ears calmly. Watching some guards check over her cart she waved for a moment to speak with the others there and carefully moved out from under Yumi who just slept soundly. A few minutes of slightly heated talk before Kaede returned looking slightly annoyed but waving it aside to make sure the girl did not worry to much.

”Seems like no matter where you go hidden rules lurk around every corner. Merchant permet, first time I think I would ever hear that in a medieval setting… Oh sorry, If I sound odd pay it no mind… I’m one of the ‘outsiders’ I think some call us…”

_____Kaede tried to air on the idea this girl before her was an NPC, and her words likely would have made an NPC troubled by Kaede for not knowing such things so the defensive claim to be from outside the known norms of Terrasphere was her best defensive stance she could take without arising trouble or giving herself to much of a bad name. Moving to start moving her cart again slowly.

”Seems those without a permit have to set up shop a few blocks down, not exactly fun when moving the cart is not easy but until i can get that permit, guess i have to make compromises.”
    @Captain Cosma

  6. "My! You've already gone and done all the work for me! Lettin' me copy all yer homework?! Whatta doll!"

Captain Cosma laughed, as she got to scribbling a very much surprisingly cleaner copy. She didn't notice Kaede leave, but she did notice her return with a slightly different air.

"All done here~ and lookie~ I even went and made'ja a copy. Being the nice person I am, hao~hao~"

The self-appointed pirate handed back the original map, along with a small bag of gold coins, and a spare copy of the map she'd just made as well.

"I figured out some rough scale-work, not that I'd think ya'd need it, but hey, ya could always sell it I suppose."

Tilting her head, Cosma was about to ask Kaede what that heated discussion had been about, but then she heard the word outsider.

    "Im...im....imp-p-p-p-p-os-ible....."

The shortish blonde froze as her eyes widened and she shook in place. She brought a quivering hand to her mouth and...

"Just kiddin' i'm one too. An outside-lander-ja-call-it, I mean, hao~hao~"

    She shrugged with a laugh.

"Hmmmm, well it'sa tough break about the permit, but well, can't say that I hate rules outright because without em' there'd be no pirates."

    She put away her things.

"I could help ya push the cart if you'd like, but after that I oughtta skedaddle. Yup, got things to see. If ya ever find some treasure juuuuust out of reach though, call Captain Cosma! That's me! And I'll come runnin' with the best rates! Hao! Hao! Hao!"

Pushing the cart or not, Captain Cosma was on her way out either way, but she nodded at what she decided was a new friend all the same.
