“Bad cop?” he let out a mocking laugh without answering her question.
Astor was honestly expecting three, four at most, yet a total of seven players showed up. When he peaked out from behind the building, he even used his fingers to assist him in basic arithmetic, yet, disappointment came when he looked down and saw seven fingers. The cop let out an extended groan; this was going to be super troublesome, he thought to himself. For once in his life, he was glad that he had someone else to help shoulder his burden, even if she was a complete stranger with whom he had no prior relationship with. Per circumstance, they were partners in crime now, though, he would be wary at the use of crime. Is it really a crime if he was taking justice into his own hands and offing criminals? The end result would be a better and safer world. As a pragmatist, he was willing to forgo the consequences of the means so long as the end is worth it.
Taking a rather deep breath before exhaling, Astor calmed himself. Then, he stuck his head out right above Una to have a look as well, recording as much visual details as he could. Although the mage and the big tanky-looking warrior was not a problem for him, magic caster in the game were rather weak to speedy characters and especially characters with long range weapons. For Astor, that was five that he needed to deal with.
“I have a lot of trouble with the speedy type, they are too quick for me,” Astor replied as he thought about all of the ways rogue-like archetype can close the distance and make his magic useless, or how archers could just interrupt his spells without taking a single step closer.
“I don’t think I will have a difficult time against the big guy or the mage, so long as you stop the rogues from getting close to me,” he said.
When the twin-swords girl suggested she was simply going to out to fight him, he grabbed onto her arm for a second time, stopping her from moving. “Oi, wait, you think I came without preparing to fight a group with more than four or five?” Astor grinned devilishly.
Leaning into Una, he whispered into her ear since he knew that the group was getting closer, “I actually put a bunch of oil barrel inside the house if we can trap them inside, the fire should finish them. Just protect me and kick them back into the fire if they run out.”
A bit later, the group stopped as the big guy opened his palm menu. Astor too opened his palm menu in response. As expected, he retrieved a private message that read:
Ginn Zalas
Where are you? We are here, I brought a few of my friends, I hope you don’t mind.
Astor Balthas
Are you at the shack? Head inside, I am almost there.
When Astor heard the group approach the house, he turned and looked at Una, signaling for her to move with his eyes. Without waiting for Una, Astor began to recite a spell as he circled around the house in a sprint. “Voh adelah vasta vasnu elenweh noreh,” once he finished his spell, a ball of heat was collected and swirling inside his palm, nearly ready to explode if it was not launched soon.
Running into one of the hesitant rogue standing guard outside Astor quickly reacted and kicked him in the chest, intending on sending him plowing into the far war of the run-down shack, his lack of strength resulted in the guy falling onto his rear.
At that moment, Astor launched a ball of fire into the room. The fire was tame at first, until it started feeding on the wooden barrel until it managed to crawl into the barrel and trigger a massive explosion. In the matter of seconds, the entire room and its inhabitant was consumed by the fire in the aftermath. Blood-curdling screams could be heard as the players literally melted from the heat. Astor figured that the screams were from those who had set their pain tolerance to realistic. Even if it’s just 60%, he wouldn’t wish burning on his enemy. But this was the most effective method to delete them from the face of the earth, or so Astor thought.
Before they could celebrate, a bloody and raw hand grabbed onto the door frame, it was the big guy, who somehow had enough health to avoid an instant kill. Shortly after a sharp shard of ice came out of the shack’s door, nearly smashing Astor’s handsome face. He was barely able to dodge it. Then the fire suddenly died down as steam began to seep from the building’s opening. It seems there was a hydromancer among them. A 2v2 quickly became a 2v3, however, when the fallen rogue got up and had his dagger drawn.
“Hey, keep them off of me,” I’ll cover you from afar,” he said.
