Preface

This is the communication thread for the: (Event) The Bandit King. This thread exists separately from the main play thread so your character can communicate with other people outside of the strict cycle limitation.

I think that the prisoner idea has merit. Get some rags from our alchemist friend here, dirty ourselves up, and leave ourselves unarmed aside from a hidden dagger in our rags and the poison itself. If anyone asks, we got captured during one of the recent raids. It’s more convincing if newbies like myself are in the mix. We’re less likely to be able to defend ourselves from bandits, so it’s more convincing.

Admittedly, this probably also means recognizable faces like Lucia and Aalam shouldn’t be prisoners. Perhaps they can come up with a backup in case it fails?

 

The boy has a point. Aalam, you are the hero from Southwatch and Lucia, even in rags someone would recognize your beauty. If we are to be proclaimed prisoners of these bandits, then we have to do so without your more recognizable faces with us. I do not believe it smart to wander too far from the rest of us, but, if it were possible to melt in with those whom have come to slain the Bandit King, perhaps that is where you are suited best?

 

A larger issue is how to explain exactly how we've gotten and arrived at this point. How did we get captured? What we were sent to do? Were we all coming together for the same reason? We should come up with our backstory and have an explanation ready for what had happened up to this point before. Otherwise hoping for their guard to ever be down will be in vain.

For my role, well I still have reservations about this quest in general. I'm not one experienced with assassination plots and mercenary missions and assassinations. This may be better left for others, instead, it's more often that my skills support other things like politics and all out war with a punitive force. If there is a role I'm best suited for, I'm sure you all would know better then I sadly.

 

Oh the backstory is easy. The bandits, after receiving their letter from Zeus, have been capturing people in order to get information on his tactics and his plan. Unfortunately the bandits only got non lions, and we were set to be executed after the blizzard let up.

Fortunately for us, the lions attacked and we broke free in the chaos, and now we go to them for succor. Sound feasible?

Hmm, fair enough I shouldn’t have taken that job making it too easy to be picked out of a crowd. I agree with the idea what that I and the Duchess stay back. But you all should make it out wounded, either bandaged up or in tatters. It will reinforce the idea that you were prisoners and escaped. A lot can be achieved with a few superficial wounds.

The Duchess here has enough authority in the current chain of command in Astorea that if she gave an order and I backed her it no one would question it too much. Well not a man like Zeus I expect, it is a logic workaround I believe. However, it allows for some excuse for you to come from this direction also it can lay the groundwork for if the first plan fails.

I agree with Endilix. As a relative newcomer, I'll be more useful as a prisoner, so I guess I'm going with him and joining his team. Also a perk of always having your face covered, I suppose. The bandages and the wounds will be great to bolster the prisoners' story: War came but so did chaos, allowing us to find salvation in the paws of the laws. Aalam and Lucia should definitely stay behind. The more time they spend with the bandits, the more things the bandits can gain in terms of defending themselves and their king. Anything else?

 

I agree that we should make it look good with some wounds. I play on simulated pain, so if you guys want to cut me up for good measure I don’t mind.

If we’re all in agreement, we can continue to work out the plan here, but we should tell the alchemist what we’ve agreed upon. Aalam, I trust you and Lucia for a backup plan. Who else is coming on the prisoner team?

 

Umm, excuse me. I hope you don't think I will be dressing into rags do you? No, that's not even gonna happen. If you all want to role play as prisoners, that's fine. But I shall be accompanying my Mistress.

I knew you would; you are never too far from her side if you can help it. I would suggest changing that level of predictability. It can be used against those you care about. There..... are people in that duchy I....... respect.

As for the rest of you, I would suggest turning your pain settings on Realistic; you can't fake pain it has to feel real. Or you're going to mess up the act. Both Lucia and Vivian are well versed in the manipulation of the truth. Sometimes a well-placed lie can do more than an army.

However, if you can't succeed, change the narrative lead him to the tunnels. Once separated from the rest of the group we attempt to end him. Any suggestions on what I have laid out?

 

Well damn, and here I was hoping that I could get away with not having to feel pain, but you make a good point Aalam. I’ll switch it to realistic after we start setting up the ruse.

And yes, provided we can’t find an opening to get the poison into Zeus, we’ll do all we can to keep him isolated while the backup team finds another opening.

 

I believe it would defeat the whole purpose of posing as defenseless players if those who were prisoners outnumbered those who will be staying behind should things go wrong. The lesser we are, the greater are our chances of earning their trust and allowing the act to be as realistic as we can manage.

As yet another new player of this game, I would like to offer myself for the prisoners' team. I should be able to provide bruises instead of cuts, if only to add more realism to our disguise.

 

Hmph. I for one have no interest in pretending to be some weak fool. I am the greatest Ice Mage in the world, and it isn't as if you can "disarm" a mage. I highly doubt I could be captured, but if I were, I wouldn't be left to live. If this is what it will come down too, I will not be a part of the group of prisoners.
