At her most frustrated, Destiny wondered what it was like above ground, outside, where the normal, non-idiot guests were peacefully feeding the horses while they waited for the Lions to return. Bet the snow's just melted now that we're gone. Someone's probably gone and used some nature magic to grow a field of nice little flowers, too. And now they were braiding daisy crowns and writing songs. Hell, on a good day Destiny might have turned that option down too, but right now it sounded pretty damn nice and she was seriously questioning why she hadn't just sat her ass down in the snow and logged back in next week.

As it was, she'd had to get... inventive. That's what she was calling it, anyway. Other people might have said 'desperate' but hell, who was counting? First, she'd tried snatching two crowns from the altar (more the merrier, ho hey) but once she had the first balanced on her elbow, the second just dissipated at her touch. Damn. Shooting a glance up and down the bridge, Destiny didn't know how some of these people were wearing it like some kind of twisted neck-breaking hat-- she'd roll it like a tire if she could, but the fool crown was so fragile she didn't quite dare.

In the end, she slung it over her shoulder like a hula hoop, waited for the bridge to be clear, and just made a goddamn run for it. Her boots pounded stone as she bolted, body bruised and aching from her consecutive falls. Hell no you don't! Her eyes widened as she saw a Soul Orb begin to move and she feinted the other direction, dodging around it. Christ, that crown was heavy-- it was damn rubbing her shoulder raw just hanging onto it, but she finally skidded to the other side and slung it off her arm onto the opposite altar, where the glowing circlet vanished. "Good riddance," she panted, mopping dark strands of hair from her brow.

Thanks to the boost in confidence, you took steps forward and carried your own weight across the bridge. Unfortunately, one of the orbs flew in your direction - there was a quick burn, along with a pushing sensation that would lead you to fall. The crown shattered upon impact, it’s remnants fading into nothingness shortly after. Despite that, you’re still in high spirits. You want to try again, and so as you stand up… You can’t help but notice something beyond the endless blue, beyond the pristine clear water.

It’s pitch black. It swirls, and is growing -- No. It’s getting closer.

Time is ticking, and it won’t stop. Hurry.

    Kase, Kase...

Vina went with the rest of the group as they entered the secret passage, wondering what would be next. The defences so far had been lacking. Even the ape monster and the bandits-turned-zombies had quickly been felled by the combined powers of the adventurers. Could it be that it really would remain this easy? Maybe the leader of the bandits had vastly underestimated the threat posed by Zeus and the people willing to follow the giant of a man into a blizzard.

When they arrived at the puzzle the white-haired Felis watched as some of the others began trying to carry the crowns across, made significantly more difficult by the orbs which tried to make everyone fall. With how things were going it was a lot better than if they were trying to push people off or destroying the bridge, but it still looked like this could become a very tedious and troublesome task, especially since people were getting hurt as they fell and landed on the cold hard bridge, unable to protect themselves with their hands thanks to the crown they were trying to save.

Instead of trying to carry a crown herself and most likely fail (Vina may be fit, but she couldn't deny not being the strongest of people) she concentrated on her singing, trying to heal those who got hurt during their attempts at carrying a crown over while also sending some more of her magical song over to Ilya. Even with the orbs this was a relatively peaceful place, so she could afford to carefully weave her magic to strengthen the effects of her healing.

It was only when one of the people trying to carry the crown over fell and got angry to the point of threatening to attack the orbs that Vina hastily ended her song, hurrying over to place a comforting hand on Kaede's shoulder. "Please calm down." Unless Kaede stopped her she'd then pull the green glowing woman into a hug. "I know it's frustrating... How about we go sit down and take a breather before trying again?" She curled her tail around Kaede's legs. "You can pet my tail if you want~"

The waters below were intimidating as Comet decided it was time for her to take a crown. All at once players were testing their strength and courage and luck. She thought she had a decent amount of points spilled into the latter skill. Perhaps, she thought, this time around skills aren't required. Loosing footing due to shaking limbs proved this very points within moments. The crown fell only to create a humiliating moment for Comet to face. With a hand to the face she carefully trekked on slippery ground to try once more at grabbing a crown to be able to pass the bridge. Many tackled and conquered the challenge on their second try. Hopefully, the situation would prove to be the same for her or else anger would certainly begin to brew within her already uneasy, relentless gut.

Magdalyn eased one of the crowns from the podium. It had seemed to appear out of nowhere, poofing into existence after another player grabbed his own. The magic was impressive, and the crown was quite pretty as well. Mags had brief thoughts of placing it atop her head. That was, until she actually lifted the thing. It seemed to weigh an impossible amount, literally throwing her off balance as she foolishly tried to jog forward. This seemingly innocent piece of headwear put the shotputs she had lugged around in high school and college to shame. No, this was more like attempting to carry a heavy bag of grain across a somewhat perilous looking bridge.

While dodging orbs, apparently. The equally harmless looking creatures swirled to life as she staggered forward, beginning to circle her like birds of prey. As they dove at her, Magdalyn tried to stutter-step around them. It failed, miserably. Rather than dodging the onslaught, she stepped into the path of an oncoming orb, taking the full brunt of the hit square in the chest. Her breath left her in a rush as her lungs seemed to crumple beneath the impact. The crown flew from her hands, and was sent skittering toward the edge of the bridge.

Again, she thought, frustration nearly as overpowering as the throb between her breasts where the orb had struck.

Although Celestine failed to find much of interest in looking around, there was one success: she got her! If only for one, blissful, cuddly moment, she got to pet the soft orange fluff ontop of the girl’s head. Then the moment ended, and Cel found herself almost ragdolling through the air. She just barely managed to keep from hitting the ground in a hard impact with another of her own wind gusts.

"Eeeeeheehehheheehehe, bliss..." she giggled, squirming on the ground and hugging the air. A moment later, and she finally regained the composure to get back up. "Ehh? Wait up, I am doing a follow!"

So they’d chosen the secret passageway. Good choice. Very mystical and cool looking. Not that she really cared either way, but maybe there’d be some good loot in this spot. After all, bandits be bandits. This place was gorgeous though.

"I wish I could be doing a placing of this whole place in my pocket," she commented, idly making chatter in the otherwise eerily silent... chapel? It kinda looked like a chapel. Little bit. Then came the whole... crown... thing.

"Oo, floaty ball things!" They reminded her of something... and so she quickly opened her palm menu while she moved to grab a crown, and promptly summoned a totally similar floating orb.

"I have finally done the taking of you home, Tsunderball~" Cel declared, with a mock sadness, as if she was finally releasing a beloved pet into the wild. "Go! And be with your own kind!" With that said, she shoved the floating ball towards the bridge, grabbing a crown to help carry in that direction anyway. She wouldn’t let it be said that she didn’t pull her own weight... literally, this thing must’ve been heavier than she was.

"Whatre you talking about? Are you blind!? These primitive scraps of junk look nothing like me! Honestly, I thought you had better taste than that... stupid meat person!"

Cel glanced over at the orb and flashed it a smug grin. Heh. Bright green. It was totally jealous. She ignored the ball’s continued rants and struggled to continue over the bridge with the crown that may as well have been made of solid lead. Geez.

"Err... this is not of safe looks," she commented as one of the strange orbs began to approach aggressively. Just when she was sure she was about to get hit, the orb was sudenly pinball’d out of the way by another similar shape.

"Oh yays! Good works, Tsunderba— OWW!"

Instead of the strange orb having hit her, her own pet took the liberty of bonking her on the head repeatedly on its behalf, zapping her each time and causing her to drop the crown, where it unceremoniously shattered.

"Quit it! Tsunderbaaaaall! This is really huuuurts!"

"Be more careful, stupid meat sack! Look: the primitive junk balls only attack when youre carrying one of those things. Just let these useless expendables take care of it for you."

The pet turned a full 360 degrees and seemed to be gesturing to pretty much everyone.

The stone and marble that Ilya pushed out of the way seemed to be successful. Her hands falling upon some sort of leather material. Dusting the rubble off the leather, it revealed a pair of leather vambraces made of the same leather that Ilya recognized. Dire Lion... Unclasping her braces that she currently had on, Ilya set the pair of arm weapons on. They were a perfect fit, as if they had been made for her. The next leg of the journey started and Ilya watched as everyone followed in pursuit of Caccu. Moving the crowns from one side of the room to the other.

Watching as Seraphy fell into Cain's arms. Just as many people succeeded there seemed to be even more people fail. As one person, of blue nature carried the crown. It shattered.. A dark and ominous pit of dark swirls seemed to be on the other side.. Appearing to come closer as time flew by. Next occurrence was the soft voice of Vina's song that set chills to course through Ilya. Her tail flicking around in content. The spurt of screaming that came from the bridge drew her eyes away. Her gaze landing on a female. Her red cloak being cast aside as it was in flames.

In a flash the song got cut off and a spurt of silver flew before Ilya's eyes. Vina had made her way over to the girl (Kaede)... Her offer being heard as Ilya's ears zeroed in on their small talk. A feeling of jealousy surged through Ilya as she turned away from the sight, her mind replaying Vina's words.

Shoving the jealousy to the pit of her stomach, Ilya reached for a crown. The crown was heavy. Yet her feet began moving to the other side. Her hair fluttering behind her.

As if to make her travel more elegant her lips began to slightly move. The silent words casting effects around her. Each footstep she took created a path of frost that melted slowly behind her. The feelings of jealousy Ilya had were only lightly interwoven with what Ilya was doing. Not even realizing what she was doing, she made it to the other side. The orbs, not even paying attention to her. The crown she carried was then placed on the other water fountain. Stepping away from the fountain, she silently cheered everyone on.

Sitting there on his ass, so pitiful he couldn’t even stand up, frustration washed over Yukisa. The feeling of uselessness was something he experienced every single day of his life, and it haunted him even when he went to sleep at night. That was why he played video games. They were his escape from the reality of his state, because in games, there were no physical limitations stopping him from being an asset to his team. Be it healing them, eliminating enemies, or simply shouting out warnings, there was always something he could do to help. Yet now, even though there shouldn’t be something stopping him… fate still laughed in his face, as though reminding him that there was no escape. He would always log off and still be his same powerless self.

‘But sitting around and wallowing in self-pity won’t change that,’ he heard a voice say at the back of his mind. ‘Just act.’

With a deep breath, the silver-haired male was filled with determination once more. He never quit, and one failure wouldn’t change that. Once more he pushed himself to his feet, lifting his poking stick from where it had fallen and looking around. Maybe carrying a crown wouldn’t work out for him… but that’s not the only thing he could do. He might not be able to buff or heal his allies, however protecting them was an option. The orbs weren’t necessarily invulnerable.

Turning back in the direction he came from, Yukisa spotted the next person attempting to cross the bridge with a crown. Soon thereafter, just as had occurred to those before them, an orb would wizz in their direction. Just as it was about to reach and slam into its target, Yukisa would swipe his arm from over his shoulder to the other side of his body.

    ‘I hope this works...’

When the motion was complete, a gust of wind blew against the orb from the side. If he were lucky, that wind would be enough to knock the orb sideways, changing its trajectory so that it would pass behind its target rather than hitting them. And if he weren’t… well, hopefully the outcome isn’t the worst.

Taking another crown, Seigi eyed the other side. This time, she'd do better. This time, she'd be more careful go more ham. This time she would simply put in more "GUTS AND EFFORT!" With those words, Seigi started to sprint. The heavy weight of the crown wouldn't keep her down. These stupid orbs wouldn't stop her. The slippery slip-slip simply meant to GRAB HARDER.

This time, the crimson-hair would not let herself be undone as she stormed across the bridge like a mad bull. Getting closer and closer to the altar as the Soul Blasts missed their target. Until, the very same Orb as last time, set its eye on Seigi: Knowing her patterns, knowing her moves.

"Not today!" The hero-in-training made a big jump shortly before the end of the bridge - dodging the Soul Blast last second.

"GOAL!" Dunking the Crown into the fountain it was a surprise that, apparently, it still counted. "Hah...I did it! Did you see, @Cain Darlite?!" She gave the midnight-haired Muse a thumbs up. "With Guts and Effort!" This stupid, stupid punchline.

Well, this sucked. It would be just his luck that he'd find one of the crappy items among the rubble. Things could definitely be worse though, so having to play as a Caenis for a while was just something Alric would have to put up with as the group moved on.
    ---

He watched as other players began to carry crowns across the bridge and eventually did step up to take one of his own. As he walked though he caught the attention of the floating orbs that proceeded to blast him. The force was enough to not only knock him off balance but also cause the crown in his hands to fall and shatter. He was starting to have enough of this place.

After getting back up to his feet he continued to the other side of the bridge, waiting for this portion of the journey to be over already. He sat down and tried rolling his tongue up using his hands. In the end he'd simply hug his knees and hide his face.

Holding her head to protect from her moody pet’s bashing, Cel ran off back to the crown... materialzer... thing, and grabbed another one in her hands.

"Tsunderball, I will be doing a fine safety if you just whack all the things of junk out of my way. We will be the team of great power! Ready aaaaaand go!"

Without even waiting for a response, Cel charged off over the center of the bridge, totally ignoring the orbs that began to swarm on her. Reluctantly, her own ‘friendly’ orb followed alongside her, bashing the orbs aside almost as aggressively as it verbally bashed its master’s choices.

"Why should we have to do this when theres like a hundred of these worthless meat shields to do it for us? Is this going to be a recurring thing with you? Where you just run off wherever your irrational little heart desires, thinking itll be okay in the end, and then I have to keep saving your meaty behind?"

Even through the pet’s harsh words, it became obvious to anyone who knew how the thing worked that it was actually thrilled to be needed. The glowing veins lining its surface glowed a bright pink as it continued to protect its master. After a hardy struggle, Cel finally tossed the crown in.

"Aaaaaaaaand boom! Quing me! It is like the kinging of me, but with queening mixed in."

Every trial has its tricks. This act of getting the crowns across the bridge was no exception. Still, even as the rest of the group labored to accomplish this one act while the orbs harried them like a bizarre game of dodgeball, Freja couldn’t help but sense a missing link, and yet when considering the orbs darted from one extreme to another, she deemed swatting the little things away more trouble than it was worth.

Therefore, she decided to take a crown as one materialized and—

“Oh my g—How heavy is this damned thing?!” It wasn’t just the weight, either. The awkward shape, and whatever coated the crown, contributed to making it feel heavier than it probably was. And now, with the crown clutched as tightly in her hands as possible, three of those orbs were fixated on her. She started her run. The orbs divebombed after her.

Freja sputtered. She grumbled. She cursed. Each push forward of her leg was just strong enough to make it look like she was hopping away from her attackers, which was partly true; seeing how they moved and caught other bridge-crossers gave her an idea of how they acted, and rather than make a beeline to the altar, she had to weave, roll, and make sudden strafes to dodge the little bastards. She had to swear off kibitzing halfway just to save energy.

Reaching the end of the bridge felt like winning a damned track race. Freja slammed her crown onto the altar. “YEAH!! That’s how it’s done!!” Gasping in the breaths she couldn’t quite catch while running, she whirled around to face the orbs as they seemed to dim, before floating away to find other trial-goers. “How d’ya like that, you pricks? Come back here so I can kick your ass!”

Haru was lying by his pool, still mentally reeling from that endeavor. Boy, did even thinking about it make him nauseous to the very core. Not a chance in hell was he doing that again. Nosiree, he was staying right here in the cold ground where it was comfortable, listening to the nearby @Vina Skysong play her beautiful song.

He sits and watches as she offers her comfort to those who exerted themselves, doing everything she could to keep her team going in whatever way she could, going so far as to stop her magic to ease the burden on Kaede's stress with physical comfort. It was... inspiring. How could he have been selfish like that, even for a scant few moments? This wasn't like him at all. Haru stands up, getting back to the other side.

"Thank you, Vina. You've reminded me that no matter how hard it is, I must continue to keep us all safe and sound. I, too, shall do what I can!" Grabbing a crown, Haru boldly steps onto the bridge where trials unfold. He will overcome these difficulties for the people he works with!

He then proceeds to fall off the bridge after an orb of light slams him off at full force. His body cracked sickeningly as it impacted the floor below. Haru moans rather pathetically. "Aha ha hck- I've dislocated my shoulder..!"
He'll find himself sitting at his pool again after he fixed his issue, deciding to rest on the sidelines for a little bit. At the very least, he muses, I tried, and I'm proud of doing so.

Through a great deal of effort, each crown is slowly carried over to the second altar, with each one lighting up the door even further. Even so, the orbs did not yield; many crowns faced the white stone floor, shattering and slowly fading away of reality. In response to the energy accumulated on the second altar, crystals in the large statue heads light up; a powerful blue energy can be seen coming from the ceiling, revealing some sort of magic circle. The room looks a lot more clear now

Curved and intricate lines made up each complex arcane formula etched in the stone ceiling, and as they lighted up the unknown words within, the etched details seem to slowly make sense as you stare at it; there is a magical pentagram, and in its center is etched what appears to be a crown above undulating details, just like water. Once the entire circle was lightened up, the entire chamber shook for a moment, and the large door slowly starts to open up in response to their efforts - just a little bit more. With only a few more crowns, they were definitely getting past --

    Unknown Käse
Suddenly, voices from below chanted in unison. At first, the sound was low and only heard by the most attentive; however, as time progressed, the voices were heard by many - if not all lions. Like a chorus, they repeated the same chant non-stop. The voices seemed to come from below the bridge. One of the lions took action first and approached the short baluster to see whatever could be causing all that noise.

What the hell is… This? Uh….. Ah…! AH, WHAT IS… AAAAAH!!

Whatever he saw, was something capable to force him to shook with tremendous and unnatural force. From his eyes, tears streamed down like fountains as he clawed at his own scalp for some unknown reason. His hysterical outburst and screams continued to the point the he bumped on the baluster and fell inside the…

    ...Water?

When the man hit the water with a loud splash the liquid flowed upwards, but did not go down. It was as if the shining liquid ignored all laws mortals lived by, refusing to bend under the power of gravity - but that, that was not the worst they experienced. Much like with gravity, sound seemed to distort as well. Bones were crushed and flesh ripped apart in harmony with screams of despair; The shining blue of the waters below danced with the red of life.

    AAAAAAH, IT HURTS, AHHHELP, AGH!

    NOAASHSAAAH, STOP, STOOOP, STOOOOOP! AAAAKH

    KAAAAAH AAA, KAAAAS!

KAAAAAASE, KAASE, KASE WO IST DIE KASE

As if sublimated by the unknown forces, anyone that met the unfortunate fate of falling down uttered the chant. The scene repeated itself with many other lions that approached to see what was down below. In response to the chaos and panic that ensued, Caccu took action once she noticed a pattern to what was happening.

Sarla mea, aslain endiel, sarla mea, sarla mea endilea!

Large amounts of mana coalesced on her staff, generating an enormous fireball over it. Once she finished chanting, Caccu tightened her hand in a fist, causing it to generate an explosion upwards in order to focus all attention on herself.

DO NYOT LOOK DOWN IF NYA DON’T WANNA END LIKE THAT! HURRY, GIT THE CRO--

Much to her dismay, the felis mage was interrupted by two simultaneous crashes on the ceiling. At each end of the chamber, giant and deformed arms raised and clashed against the magic circle on the ceiling, desperately clawing at it and shaking the chamber - possibly, the entire fortress. The impact was enough to break several stairs and bridges around the largest, central one. Many of them somehow floated on the otherworldly liquid. The arms finally managed to grab at the blue energy, pulling it down like they were arcane chains.

In response, the entire chamber slowly starts to descend towards the infinite blue and the door slowed down. At this point, the orbs ignored the adventurers, choosing to focus fire on whatever was trying to crawl out of its watery imprisonment. The arms generated an insidious miasma that clouded the pure blue with a black fog, corroding your very being with an acidic embrace. They are desperate, hungry -- and it just so happens they found their precious, delicious Käse.

Käse, Käse, Wo Ist die Käse?
