Discussion in 'Astorea' started by Kaede Hoshi, Jan 27, 2018.
  1. _____Listening to everyone’s replies and taking a moment to break it down Kaede slowly raised a finger to herself and blinked blankly. If she was hearing them right it sounded like they wanted to go right now, and she was going to be the leader? Blinking a few more times as she let that soak in before starting to fumble for her words and took a quick drink out of panic. Sure she knew about the job but she was hoping to have a few days maybe even one to get everything she needed ready.

”Like leave now?!? I still have not got anything ready or… Me leader though? I can barely focus half the time… To have you guys trusting me not to give death orders or make bad choices… Ain’t that a little too much? We should start with trust exercises or something, spar to see where our strengths are or something… The settlers won’t be heading out for at most a few more days they said…”

_____Kaede fumbled with her speech, her words breaking apart at times as she tried to get a drink to cool down. Was it getting warmer or something? Her eyes darting around like a scared animal and in truth she was. Two people who barely knew her and one who seemed to know her a decent deal trusted her to lead them against a likely battle of five to one maybe more? That was not only a lot of pressure but responsibility Kaede was not used to.

”It just seems to sudden… Sorry if that’s not what you want to hear but… I don’t think I’m the best leader for this…”

_____Slowly sinking into her seat and lowering her voice like a child Kaede essential tossed Leader role into the air like a hot potato without advising anyone else, mostly because she had no idea who it should fall to. Pulling her hood to hide her nervous nature and ‘try’ to hide the fact she was trembling from the idea of letting people down who seemed to trust her. Quickly trying to choose a new topic to help relax herself.

”As for the cave… I don’t know if going back will help me reclaim what I lost, or if it is even there to be found. For all I know my mind is just… blocking any information about the past because something I don’t like happen… I just can’t leave it alone… to forget so much time, and all the times I have to run from people because I seem to have done things I can’t recall… Even if it will suck remembering I can’t just not try? I guess…”

_____Slowly rising in her seat as she nervously tapped along the ledge of the table. It was not fun to be accused without knowing if your truly guilty or not. To have so many people act so friendly and not have a clue who they are. If Kaede had to rate the suffering she went through from memory loss alone so far it would rank as eight tenths of her suffering since she woke up that day with Tsuki-yumi at her side.

The hypnotic crackle of a hearth's fire and the background drawl of conversation had a lulling affect upon Temperance, who road-weary and filled with a great hunger, had taken to the menu and ordered gross portions of food and wine. This had been hours ago, the feast set to like a feral dog that had just found scraps to satiate its starving gut. She had torn apart roasted duck, inhaled stews, and drowned herself deeply in mulled wines and the comforting fog of a good cigar. Now the remnants of her feast were gone from the table she had occupied, cleaned up by serving staff after she had passed out, drunk, against the table's surface.

Noise stirred the woman back to life; a nearby conversation about a group of some sort being formed. Apparently those involved knew each other mostly by reputation, and each had something of a defect that urged a note of caution into Temperance's mind.

A man who fought from afar, and did not prefer to lead. Possibly he was not cut out for it; possibly he lacked the confidence, or did not want the burden of decision.

A woman who wanted to lead, but knew she was better at following. That was admirable... and smart, considering she chose to tank, which meant she would be poorly situated to see the entire battlefield and too occupied to make snap decisions.

Another woman, who had a great slew of skills, and so far seemed the only one with any healing abilities. But she was too concerned with the woman that had apparently called the group together, which meant her judgement would likely be clouded by compassion if she were to lead.

And the final figure? Had lost her memories, or so she claimed, and was now trying to escort the group to some vague cave in the wilds. Immediately the idea of a player-killing trap sprang to Temperance's half-conscious mind, but she ignored it and continued to listen half-heartedly to their conversation as if it were a lullaby to push her back into the comforts of sleep. This was disturbed by Kaede's passionate pleas not to be the leader, and to receive help in getting her memories back. Well... Temperance had never helped somebody to steal memories before. That could prove interesting.

I'll join this quest! And, what's more, I'll lead this party! Temperance announced as she rose from her seat. Or at least that had been the general plan, but her still-addled brain and body failed to coordinate properly and she rose too quickly, her chair falling backwards to the floor. Apparently forgetting there was a table in front of her, she stepped forward and with an OOF fell onto it, rolling off of its side and onto the floor with a harsh bang, leaving her staring up at the ceiling from her back.

"Floor's cold..." she mumbled, an arm flailing about in search of something to help her up. It found a chair leg, and she dragged it closer to herself, then used it to prop up into the seat and turn to face the assembled party.
"Heymenah's Tem-per-prance anni healer I like monies lemmejoinyoo."
    Eloquent. Succinct. Shitfaced.
Her head lulled again to the side, eyes fluttering barely-opened, and she drifted in and out of reality as sugar plum faeries danced, and the like.

  3. The idea of assigning a definite leader hadn't been on Mizuki's mind as she suggested hunting the Grass Gnolls, since so far they hadn't had a lot of time to learn more about one another and thus couldn't say for certain who would be the best choice. A job where a decisive leader wasn't vital for success would be a good start, and while the Grass Gnolls could prove themselves to be a threat she had yet to encounter any evidence that they were dangerous or intelligent enough that a group of seasoned adventurers needed a competent leader to ensure victory. Individually the gnolls weren't that much more dangerous than a lot of creatures you could encounter just wandering about in the wilds, and while they had the advantage of groups they had little to no tactic beyond swarming the enemy and laying ambushes, and both of those could be dealt with by sticking together and watching one another's back.

So when Kaede began to panic at the idea of being assigned the role of leader the Caenis raised one hand, both in an attempt to calm her friend and to call the attention of the others as she spoke. "Having fought the grass gnolls before I can say that while we should be cautious while dealing with them, they are not so dangerous an enemy that we absolutely need to decide on a leader right here and now. As long as everyone is willing to listen to what the rest has to say and everyone pays attention we should be able to use the mission of pushing back the gnolls as an opportunity to become accustomed to one another and worry about a real leader after, once we have a better idea of which one of us would be the most capable." Mizuki would take the role of leader herself if it looked like nobody else wanted it, but she'd rather see if one of the others was a better fit.

She looked around as suddenly another voice called out, in time to see Temperance kick over her chair and then collide with the table she had been sitting at, wincing as she saw the woman fall onto the floor. After a short moment of hesitation Mizuki stood up to try and help the woman back onto her feet and back into her chair, in the meantime considering what Temperance had said. She had to be honest, right now this stranger wasn't giving the most charismatic and competent of impressions, but then again she looked like she was either drunk or recovering from being drunk, so her current demeanour might not be a good indication of her actual capabilities.

After tilting her head to try and understand the woman Mizuki replied slowly. "Well, uhm... Hello... Temperprance? Temperance?" She wasn't sure whether the woman had misspoken or if she'd purposefully made her name a deviation from the word temperance. "Anyway, Maybe you should first try to sober up a bit. You barely look like you're awake as it is." She wasn't going to immediately dismiss the newcomer entirely, but on the other hand she really couldn't hold a conversation with someone who gave the strong impression that the only thing keeping them upright was a curiosity for what they'd been overhearing, and even then only barely.

Turning back towards the rest of the group Mizuki made a somewhat helpless gesture, unsure what to do with this. Get the woman a glass of water? "Does any of you know her?" If either Corvella or Aalam was a friend it'd make things a lot easier. Whether Kaede was a friend of Temperance or not was highly debatable at this point since even if she'd been friends in the past right now she wouldn't be able to remember. The Caenis looked a bit forlorn, not wanting to ignore Temperance but also not completely eager to bodily haul the woman around to get her to... a bed or something. She really looked like she could use a bucket of cold water or a soft bed, either or.

  4. Still putting the snack balls one by one into her mouth while listening to Kaede panicking about how early it is. "She's got a point," Corvella stood from her seat, pointing out "Even though we act like we know her, but for Kaede we're just strangers. It might take a little longer to get used to group up for a mission."

After delivering the speech, she sat back and took another snack ball, passing the bowl around while giving the 'sure-you-do-not-want-the-snack' look as she asked them "What do you suggest we do first? Any ideas?"

Just as she was going for the last ball of snack, someone crashed into the table and quickly rolled down into the floor with like a sushi roll. Witnessing what just happened, Corvella looked at each of the members present on what to do, before Mizuki finally went on the initiative to help the fallen woman. Corvella finished the last snack ball, went up from her seat to grab what appears to be a mug of iced water from the nearest table and tried to give the risen woman the mug to drink "Uh, Temper-prance? Here. Might help to sober up." Hope that wasn't a mug of Ale.

While waiting for the next input from the drunk woman, she discussed with the others about the woman who fell into their meeting. One question asked by Mizuki was if anyone was a friend of the woman. "Temperance rang a bell somewhere in my memory, if that is the correct name, but I don't seem to recognize the woman here. In fact, I don't know her. How about you, Aalam?" She shifted her attention to the only man in the group.

Back to the woman, Corvella waved her hands in front of Temperance to see if she has regained her focus. "She said something about joining and being a healer, if I'm not wrong? Would be a great help to have another healer in the group." She said as she looked back to Kaede.

Things were happening. People were speaking, and apparently to her. Why?s

    ...

Oh, right. Something, something, adventure. She had offered to service them, for money.
    No... that wasn't it.
She had offered her services to them, for money?
Yes, that sounded more like it.

Reaching up and taking the mug of iced water from Corvella, the drunk woman stared blearily through barely-opened eyes at the group as they discussed things amongst themselves for a moment. Her eyes drifted to the mug, and she decided she did not want to drink something so bland. But it was warm in the tavern, and she needed to wake up a little bit, so... Raising the mug above herself, the woman poured its icy contents onto her own head, feeling it soak her garments and send a shock of cold down her entire being. That served to wake her up enough to become immediately aware of things, and with a bright glow in her free hand, she cast a White Magic spell upon herself to remove the intoxication debuff, immediately sober and alert.

Hair dripping with cold water, she blinked and set the emptied mug aside on a nearby table. Presumably the one she had been sitting at, before tripping away from it? She couldn't remember much about what had been happening recently. Didn't know who the people in front of her were, but had a vague recollection that they were about to go adventuring and might need help.

"Temperance, that's right," the woman said as she addressed Corvella calmly, crossing her legs and lounging in her seat as though the bitter cold of the water did not bother her, and she had nothing to be embarrassed about.
"I don't much go for offensive masteries, myself, but I can be useful as a scout or a healer. Plus, I know a lot of good travel songs for the road. There's really no losing here."

  7. _____Kaede felt very off set when the girl seemed to just show up nearby, A startled yelp escaping her lips as the girl spoke up. Kaede was sure she had been alone before the three had shown up and there was no drunk passed out on a table when she arrived, if the girl just somehow hid during that time or truly was there and Kaede had not noticed her it was a fairly big issue. Kaede simply moved back down in her seat as the girl seemed to take center stage, while it helped her calm down it only made Kaede wonder if she would be much help to the group.

”The only lose here is that you just showed up out of nowhere and what is more from behind us. Not to be rude but that is not exactly a trustful way to make first impressions…”

_____Kaede moved up in her seat as she spoke to the newest person of the group. Her hand resting on her wolf pup’s head as he started growling sensing Kaede’s worry and trying to protect the girl. Kaede’s hand the only reason the small puppy was not trying to bite the girl, the gesture of hand to his head the simplest ‘stay’ without having to use words. It would only work for some time so Kaede had to deal with her uneasy quickly to avoid someone, Likely Tsuki-yumi from getting hurt.

  8. Aalam watched Kaede over the top of his empty cup as she mumbles out reason after, after reason why she should lead the group in the mission. His eyes were never moving from her face; it was still amazing to see how much she has changed it was like that person she once was indeed gone. However when he pried his eyes off of her to give some attention to the rest of the group as they took turns speaking. It seemed that both were willing to follow her lead. Well, that was something a type of loyalty if nothing else. It did seem that Mizuki had an add interesting in Kaede for whatever reason he wasn’t going to care. It did have anything to do with him and as long as it stayed that he wasn’t going to pry. Whatever those two had shared or will share was again no of his business, keeping the rest of the group alive and following orders was. He was still trying to figure out what type of person that Corvella was when he heard temperance announce herself.

Looking at the woman out of the corner of his eye and took in her measure, it seemed that she was willing enough if nothing else. However from the way that she was barely able to keep her balance from what appeared to be only five pints of ale was sad. That meant it might just be a lot of liquid in her system, but he wasn’t going to help her up. You dig your own grave as the father used to say and besides, it seemed that he didn’t have to the woman practiced white magic. It seemed to pull the drink right out of her system, which would explain her low tolerance. She wasn’t allowing her body to get used to the drink; you built up a resistance to poison by introducing it to your system slowly. In controlled amounts, if she kept using curing herself like that she would always be lightweight.

He grabbed a drink off the tray of one of the waitress as he walked towards another table ignoring the look that she shot him. Add a little of his mixture from his flask to the glass; it was much stronger than the water down thing they were servicing here, and he wanted to feel the burn. Taking a swig of the mixture that was now in his cup, the drink turning from a light brown almost to light gold. Turning first to answer the question if he knew her. “Before a few seconds ago no, she was a complete stranger. However, Kaede put out the call, and this Temperance answered. That all there is with that, as for leadership of the group. It should be the one that called this group together. To be a leader is to take charge and do what needs to be done no matter what your personal feelings are about the situation. You might not think yourself the best, but you have been pushed into the limelight. In the words of a great man step up and succeed."

  9. "Considering the fact that I am mostly a fighter with only limited healing abilities a dedicated healer would certainly be useful, although so far..." Mizuki didn't finish her sentence, but it was hard to see Temperance as a reliable partner given her introduction. Drunk or not the fact that she'd gotten herself in such a stupor in the first place already said something about her: even if she was completely rational while sober if she had a tendency to get herself smashed that'd still make her unreliable in the long run. Then again, they were gathering a group to do things together, not planning something important like assassinating a king where no mistakes could be allowed. It'd depend on how things developed from here.

Seeing Temperance cure herself of her drunken state while at the same time also giving herself a cold shock Mizuki blinked and tilted her head, but then sat down in her own chair as it looked like the white mage had restored herself to the point of not requiring the wolfwoman's help. With the white-haired woman explaining that she was more of a healer and a scout than a real fighter the Caenis furrowed her brow in thought. "From what I remember Kaede is very good at stealth and I have both the Hunting mastery and the Acrobat mastery... But of course additional scouting can't hurt. But more important would be your ability to heal and support us in case we encounter something dangerous. That said..."

Before she could voice her own worries Kaede already took care of most of it, the concern about the impression Temperance was giving. The lupine woman nodded along with her red-themed companion, waiting for her to finish before adding her own two cents. "I would not doubt your skill but your introduction so far hasn't been one that would inspire trust in most people." She gave Temperance a stern look for a moment before her expression relaxed and she shook her head, sighing. "Well, I don't mind letting you come with us if you're interested in joining us. We'll be spending at least some time trying things out anyway, since most of us aren't too familiar with one another, so if there are any issues with our dynamic we can discover and address those in the field rather than focusing too much on it right now."

That was the important thing here: while she didn't want them to just mess around without a single thought or care she also didn't want this to turn into some kind of job, where perfection was demanded and any mistake was immediately punished. One of the benefits of this world was that the responsibilities were a lot lighter than back on Earth unless you intentionally pushed yourself back into a more responsible spot, and Mizuki wanted to avoid doing that as much as she could without feeling guilty about it. Which is also why when Aalam tried to push Kaede back into the spot of leader against the girl's own wishes she shook her head once more, indicating first Aalam, then Kaede with a finger and then folding her arms.

"The message Kaede sent out told us that she wants people she can really trust, but we're not here to form a professional group. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to be successful with whatever we're going to do, but I don't think we should try to push someone into the role of leader if they're uncomfortable with it, even if they were the one who gathered all of us in the first place." Considering the fact that Kaede had mostly just sent out a message to every player in the hopes there would be people willing to become her allies she didn't think it was fair to say that Kaede had already taken the role of leader upon herself. "If she agrees to it we can see how well she functions as a leader, but we shouldn't tell her that she's the leader whether she likes it or not."

Although that didn't remove the issue that they did need someone who could call the shots... Mizuki's own idea was that they would first try out working together and see if there was anyone who naturally became the leader, but if nobody really had that natural leadership they'd still eventually need to settle because even if they were trying to avoid being too serious about adventuring together any party without someone making the decisions when all was said and done would get messy and face many difficulties which could be easily avoided.

"I vote that we first try out a simple challenge like taking down those grass gnolls which are threatening the settlers, and after that we can see if someone looks more suited for the role of leadership than the rest of us. We're in no hurry and it could make working together in the long run a lot smoother if we don't push anyone into a role they're not suited for, and we don't have an urgency where someone should force themselves to become a leader regardless of whether they're suited for it or not." The last part was accompanied by a look towards Aalam. What he said made sense from the perspective of a professional who couldn't afford to waste time taking it easy, but Mizuki wanted to avoid making Terrasphere feel like a job in any way.

  10. Oh. Instead of drinking the iced water, the woman used White Magic to turn herself immediately sober. Need to write this useful tip down on a note on the pluses of healing magic. Regarding the offer to join the group though, Corvella had nothing against it, but judging from the reaction of Kaede and Mizuki... they didn't seem that impressed by the white-haired woman's attitude. But this is Kaede's call to party after all, it's her call whether to include someone or not.

The blonde took an opportunity of the quite heated situation to get another shot of small-mugged drink from a passing waitress and sipped from it because she doesn't know how long the talk will continue. The drink seem to be weirdly colored, different from any other drinks she drank earlier, doesn't stop her from keep drinking the supposedly free drinks though. Thank god this one was actually some kind of fruit juice. She offered the small mug to one another with the intention to help cool off the talk.

The discussion regarding leadership doesn't seem to lead anywhere. Mizuki did offer a reasonable solution on both leadership and what to do with Temperance "I second the idea. After all, we cannot judge a book by its cover..." Corvella took another sip of the fruit juice before continuing "..And then we can see what works out and what doesn't! It will also help us get together and know each other better. How does that sound, Aalam? Kaede?" She looked at the other two for approval. If this doesn't do it, it might be much harder to push the discussion forward.

Whether they had settled with the idea that Mizuki had proposed beforehand, Corvella went to ask Kaede about the grass gnolls job. "So, what's the actual story behind this thing? The concept of moving and settling in a known grass gnoll territory doesn't seem to sit well with me. Oh, don't get me wrong. It's not like I want to rush the job, but knowing the details beforehand might be handy."

God, but they liked to talk. And debate. And bicker. And moan.
Annnnnd it was about time for another five beers.

"Offer rescinded, after careful inebriation. I mean... consideration..." she muttered, standing from her seat and heading towards the exit to what had been Kaede's 'private' room for the meeting.
"It sounds like you can't decide how to decide on what to decide. So I've decided to be decisive, and decline the decline in this conversation, instead to go recline." Nodding, she exited the room and went off about her own business.

  12. _____Kaede would take a few moments before she appeared flustered and started searching her UI. She knew she had it all written down somewhere but it took her a moment to refind the paper in her inventory and pull it out. Watching her hands as she carefully unfolded the paper into a map. The center seemed to be circled with an arrow pointing to a river and a mountain just on the edges of the circle.

”They had done some mining here before… but they could never get the supplies out since most times they had been exhausted from working. So they figured to try and pay some people to build a town or rather outpost they could sleep at before moving the supplies out and sell them.”

Kaede took a moment to catch her breath before she resumed speaking about the map and reasons for the job.

”They tried floating the supplies down river but the grass knolls always looted it before they reached the destination. While defending the outpost would be someone else's job entirely, they just seem to want help getting it built. From what i was told they have two other small groups willing to help them out so it would be shift work until the job is done.”

Once more taking a moment to catch her breath as she pointed at the map again and circled a few spots with her finger.

”From what I could gather when I tried scouting the area a few spots seem to be home to clan of the creatures rather close to the spot they want to set the outpost. I still want to try and convince them to build it against their mine, the shorter grass in that area would help make it defendable and less sides to fight off but they want it in that circle close to the river so…

  13. Mizuki watched with some surprise as Temperance suddenly stood up and declared that she would leave, using a lot of repetition before leaving the four of them to their discussions and plans. The woman had both appeared and departed abruptly, and overall the Lupis wasn't sure if she was relieved or not that she had decided against joining. On one hand having a dedicated healer would have been useful, but on the other this one had appeared to be a bit... quirky, in her own way.

Shaking her head she focused on the matter at hand instead, as Corvella asked the important question of why they would be doing this and what the plans of their clients were. Pormont was infamous for the Grass Gnolls who protected their territory fiercely, so fiercely that there had yet to be any group who had managed to settle in that area: they were always driven out, or the expenses needed for keeping it running were too high for the benefits. So for this group to try it they either thought they had a new idea nobody else had tried before, or they were overconfident. Or both.

"So their motivation is that they've found a good mining spot."

It made sense, in a way: the gnolls had made the entire territory undesirable, but if someone thought there was money to be made they would be willing to risk getting into trouble with the gnolls for that potential wealth. At least, Mizuki assumed that in the end the true motivation was the money that could be gained from mining there and either processing or selling the materials they dug up.

"This might actually be doable if they've got plans for setting up an outpost and we only have to help keep the gnolls at bay for long enough for them to finish building. Of course that would mean that this would be a long-duration task, since it takes time to build an entire outpost even if you're prepared and have money to spend."

She looked at the map, frowning as Kaede explained that one of the problems was that their clients wanted to build their outpost near the river instead of sticking closer to the mines, which would be easier to defend.

"They probably want to keep the outpost close to the river so they can try sending their materials and supplies up and down the stream by boat. Undefended those might be plundered easily but if they have guards on those boats it'd be easier to repel would-be thieves. Gnolls are tenacious and cunning, but they live in the plains. Attacking a defended boat isn't their forte."

She placed her finger on the river, judging the distance between the streak of blue and where the mine was supposed to be and letting out a small exhalation of annoyance. Too far apart. There was no way to build the outpost close to both at the time, which was really unfortunate.

"That said you're right that it would be more easily defended if they kept their outpost close to the mine. However if we accept this task our main objective would be keeping the gnolls out of that area long enough for them to finish construction. While I hope they'll succeed in building a sustainable outpost if they've got a realistic plan we'll just have to see if it works out and try to help them if it turns out that they bit off more than they could chew.

The biggest issue for our job would be that clan. While the entirety of Pormont is plagued by those gnolls if a clan has made its home in that area they're going to be even more aggressive than usual. While I'm pretty sure each one of us could take on a fair amount of gnolls in a fight they'll be using a lot of trickery and cunning as well."

She frowned, trying to remember if there was anything else they'd have to look out for.

"I was originally hoping that we could take the offensive, wiping out all the gnolls in the area so we'd be able to take a breather before more arrived, but even with all four of us it would be risky to attack an entire clan at once, so we'll be forced to act more defensively."

    @Kaede Hoshi @Corvella @Aalam Abungu

  14. "Ah, wai-" And just as fast as she came, Temperance left the meeting. Well, what's done is done. The group moved into a more specific discussion, of which Corvella paid attention to. A mining operation near that area? Makes sense. Grass Gnolls are quite stubborn on defending their territory. You clear the area, next day another tribe shows up. It might not be a job that could be done in a short time.

She noted on Mizuki's input on the strategy for driving the gnolls away "I've dealt with grass gnolls before. They are... overly aggressive when it comes to territory, I must say. They've also adapted more modern tactics in my last encounter." She pointed on the map, circling the place where the outpost would be built. "They would probably come with their powers combined at later date to reclaim their territory and attack the outpost, but that's not exactly our business, right?"

The discussion then went on the silence for a while as every of them thought of a strategy. "I don't think going on the offensive is actually a bad idea, Mizuki." Corvella pondered while looking at the map. "That way, we leave no scouts to inform the others, minimizing the threat. Clearing their camps one by one should not be that hard, especially when some of us are adept in covert ambushes." The blonde looked like she was going to continue, but stopped short and frowned.

"The real downside that we might take more than we actually need. That, I don't really like." In many times, even unnecessary fighting cannot be avoided. She learned that the hard way with the Aesirs. "So we might need an estimate on how big the outpost would be, and the time to build it. A big outpost could provoke even the most nomadic gnolls to reclaim their supposed territory."

  15. Aalam grabbed the next tankard as one of the waitresses was passing him it wasn’t the best thing that he had even drunk, but it was nice. It seemed that the team had just possibly lost their healer to her whims well to each there own. It was going to be a bit harder to get the job done. It was good to work out these things now it would have been terrible to get on the job then find out she wasn’t able to make or get the job done. He had worked on enough of those in his lifetime and did not want to do anymore, they cut into his drinking time.

Taking a nice long drink of the dark brew as he thought about all the action she had taken as of current. It seemed even if she had lost most of herself she still remembers the basics after all if she didn’t know then what would have been the point. However, it seemed she still wasn’t able to do things with a level of confidence she still played with her hands and even the way that she talks. He could have wonder what would have happened to make her like this but then that would imply a more invested interest. The job that they had settled on was one that was interesting enough but there was the level of work that he would have to put in. If anything this was a job for public service. If this village wanted to settle the area, it would have been best just to hire a group of guards to protect the area until they were settled in, but then again players were the cheaper hire.

If whatever they were mining was worth the danger if they were still there and wanted to set up an outpost. A good vein of ore maybe, it would have to be enough to be worth the cause of life that might occur until they were able to secure the area. The river made sense to him it was the easiest way to transport material when they were ready to and the fastest even if it wasn’t the most secure. But it would be safer than trying to move then raw materials by land especially when the left after the job was completed. After they left, the task of protection of their goods would be on the shoulders of the people that severed there. The expanded area would be useful if they planned to have soldiers in employment full time or even was looking to train their militia.

“If these people are genuinely looking to claim the area, then some steps would have to be taken, the Gnolls in the area must be dealt with, that would mean cutting off the head of the leader in the area or the leaders of various clans. I have no problem going on the offensive but you must to it carefully, turn too much attention on the human in the area would not go well for the job.

Destroying some tribes, having the people of this village turn themselves into a type of militia. That would require training of the people enough so that they would be able to properly be able to defend them from attack. Howeve,r that is not would problem our problems seems to be the construction of their wall and outpost that is at least a two month job. Might be able to go faster if they have the supplies on hand and the expertise to get the job done.”
