So... what was going on, here? People running about, fighting. Yadda yadda.

So far, nobody was in need of healing. So far, nobody had asked for it. Buffs were being tossed about like beads at Mardi Gras, though Freja had been one of the few to really deserve one, having been teleported in stark naked. If Temperance had had her way, it might've stayed like that... Frozen Freja? Frejasickle! What a delight to lick.

Maybe later. For now, there was still a battle to at least pretend to be involved in... Conjuring up her White Magic again, Temperance sent it coursing into herself in order to bolster her own attack. Had she purchased a Magical Tool before this entire fiasco, she would be far more useful... but alas, all of her casting was diminished for lack of a tool to channel through. Still, it was doing well enough.

Though not the most potent of powers, her magic was able to burn her foes and lash at them with holy fury. And now it was buffed. So... neat. That was probably her plan moving forward!

It wasn't easy, wasn't fun. There weren't quite so many bandits as there had been before, but when she was right in the thick of the scrap, it was easy to forget that there was anything else going on. Her world had reduced to swinging her blade around to block attacks, shoving at people who came too close with her shield, ducking out of the way of a blow that came too close to lopping off her ears.

There was no glamor in this melee, but she was trying all the same. Get back up, keep fighting, and don't stop trying.

At last, the fierce fight seemed to die down. Well, in her little corner of the world, at least. It appeared that the bandits were either subdued, or... dead. Now that the immediate threat was done and the rush of adrenaline had faded slightly, she was aware of just how cold it was. The longer they were out here, the more chance there was of freezing to death.

Valdrada looked up to the Bandit King and his axe far up ahead. They'd have to finish this quickly, then.

The plan was simple. It had been a while since Emerath used his balloon bombs, but now was the time. The entrance behind the king needed to be destroyed. He wouldn’t have a way to escape.

That was the theory at least.

As any good scientist knows, when putting theories into practice, they don’t always turn out how you expect.

Without thinking of any repercussions, Emerath threw the balloons, but they didn’t go where Emerath had expected. The blizzard quickly whipped them around, and they flew in two different directions.

A quick incantation, a quick attempt to salvage, trying to use his aeromancy to capture them, but it was too late. He wasn’t skilled enough in the magic. They plopped onto the ground, blowing oil everywhere.

Emerath watched his mistake in horror, as the pyromancers flinged their fire in the chaos without a care. What was supposed to warm them and protect them had been Emerath’s greatest mistake.

And then his oil set fire, and everything started to explode.

Celestine marveled at the fancy lightshow, trying to more-or-less ignore Tsunderball’s snarky jives. Unfortunately, the resulting teleport was sickening to say the least. It was like a small little goblin had wormed its way into her stomach and started twisting random internal organs into knots. Not a pleasant experience in the slightest, but at least it passed fairly quickly.

"Wait one of the minutes... is that the guy? The guy we are doing a looking for?" Celes stared back at him, bewildered at just how sudden they’d found him. Teleports were great... if sickening.

Around her it seemed like the entire courtyard had just exploded into action.

    A balcony was collapsed.
    A doorway nearly got wrecked.
There was an nice ice wall, which shattered from a flurry of attacks before Celestine even got close.
Some adorable ice magician was blasted with half-a-dozen spells and didn’t look terribly healthy for it.

...and all before she’d even wandered into range of the bandit king. This group was kinda scary. It better qualified as an army, or maybe a firing squad? Either way, she was just here to meet crazy people and slip a shiny goodie in her pocket.

Casually wandering through the mass of projectile death and war shouts with hands in her pockets, Celly took position center-stage and held out her hand to release a nasty bolt of lightning straight towards the king of bandits himself.

    Mid-cycle Update

Blank began to collect the energy to form her next spell but was besieged by a barrage both magical and physical attacks, and though she had erected an invisible barrier to block the blows, it soon began to crack and crumble under the weight of the onslaught. Face red in anger she began to scream.

"This isn't fair! Why are you picking on me! You were supposed to attack him!"

Her words rang out as a clear admission of defeat, and yet her spell continued to form creating a small bubble within her crumbling barrier. The bubble expanded to her height showing the image of a far-off landscape, where a dark castle stood bathed by a red sun. Those with a discernable eye would notice a small amount of black fog forming nearby, only to be sucked into the bubble. A grimace on her face, Megan turned and entered the landscape revealing it to be a portal of some kind, before turning back around and glaring at those who had attacked her.

    Blank would remember this.

And with that, the barrier collapsed as the portal began to wink shut before it disappeared altogether leaving nothing behind but shards of ice where the witch had once stood.

    Special Event: Fumble (1)
@Emerath Katou played with fire and he was burned for it. When he attempted to blow up entrance A, his explosive was flung toward the eastern side of the courtyard and the flames and sparks from the Pyromancers on the battlefield detonated his devices. The explosion was not big, but because of the hollowed ground beneath, a massive hole opened in zone 6.

Unexpectedly, a loud shriek burst forth. The sheer volume of the shriek shook the ground, stopping all adventurers and bandits in their path. Given the force of the sound, it reached the top of the fortress, where a massive layer of snow has accumulated over the past few days, causing a massive avalanche. The snow completely covered both zone 6 and 9, making them inaccessible.

From the hole created by #accidentalmichaelbay, a massive black ants with liquefied magic dripping from its pincers crawled out from the hole and screeched at its liberators.

    Actions
    Basic:
    • Below are the list of actions you can perform. Carefully read what each one does.
    • Once you have decided on an action, go to the roll thread and roll what the action is telling you to roll.
    • In order to roll, you can just copy the template in the roll thread and post that. It will give you a number that you can apply modifiers to.
    • Next you have to fill in a template, which I will talk about below.

Megan quickly fled the scene after getting bombarded by attacks from every direction. We still don't know what's her motivation, but there's another bigger threat now. The Bandit King haven't even moved yet, so his abilities are mostly unknown. Corvella went on a initiative to close the gap and attack him directly. Making her way towards the area where Erasmus is currently standing, Corvella suddenly felt tremor on the ground as the explosives thrown by Emerath blew the ground, creating a massive hole and giving gigantic ants a way to make it to the battleground.

"Another distraction..." she muttered. The knight looked at another entrance just beside the bandit king. It would be a mess if reinforcements joined in. Should she collapse it down? Nah, the moment this king goes down, the battle should end as well. There's no need to prolong the fight on snowy fields. Corvella shook her shield, making the steel golden wings on it extended to the sides and launched a swiping strike to the king of bandits. She jumped right in front of him, hoping the sharp sides would cut straight through his armor.

_____Kaede almost did not notice her punching bag was missing, blinking slowly as the area seemed to have changed and she could hear fighting around her and quickly turned to see two targets from the look of things. Pulling her dagger out slowly as she watched the Ant’s seeming disinterested in her she simply growled and rushed towards it without any real care what other would have to say as warning or to help her out. This was what she came here to do, not sit and try to deal with some puzzle or glow green, and without her glow or red cloak she really did not stand out in the group that much.

”Now this is something I can wrap my head around! GET OVER HERE!”

_____Blade spinning in her hand as Kaede shouted at the ant trying to get it’s attention while she rushed forward to try and kill the creature that was closer for the time being. Slashing at her target and doing everything to keep the Ant’s focus from the group so she had an unquestioned target after her to make it a real fight. While she would not be happy if others tried to get in the way or fight along side of her she would not voice it just yet.

Alpha tentatively poked her head out from the rubble she was hiding behind, carefully scanning the premises for any trace of Megan, before she finally relaxed and took a step back. "Haha, sorry bout that!" she rubbed her head sheepishly, relief readily apparent in her tone. She threw her arm around Cain (or at least tried to and miserably failed) and gave him a friendly wink. "I cain't hurt a friend, y'know? Get it? Cain't?"

If people could express themselves as emoticons in real life, Alphabet Chocolate would resembled a keyboard smiley-face [:D]. And finally, for the first time since this battle started, she drew her dagger and jumped into the fray. "Let's go!" Alpha grinned as she tugged Hector by the scruff, dashing off with her companion as she left Cain to his idling. Alpha couldn't draw her weapon to fight Blank in good conscience, the girl being an ally, a great friend, and a roommate. The Bandit King, however, was another story.

"One, two, three, four! Two, two, three, four! Three, three, three, four! Four!" Alpha chanted as she skipped along the icy paths and, in a sudden burst of vigor, dragged her blades into the Bandit KIng's flesh. "You can't stop the Alpha!" she exclaimed, proud of her contribution to the betterment of humanity via vigilante tactics.

In a tiny corner of her mind, she wondered if she should get a cool nickname too. Magi, er, Tenebris had one and no one in their right mind would name their child Blank (the irony was lost on her). All superheroes and stuff had code-names. Maybe she should call herself Tebahpla. Like, her name backwards. That was a pretty cool trope in comic books and everything, right? Etalocohc tebahpla. It sounded oddly Aztec in origin but she could dig that. It wasn't that much weirder than Quetzalcoatl or, dare she say it, Roland Rutledge or Cain Darlite.

The mage taken care of, Velka turned her sights to the Bandit King. The objective after all, was to kill him. She had enough of messing around with the trash and other distractions, it was time to finish the fight. Casting a small incantation, she surrounded herself in flames before launching herself at her target, dual lances ready to tear him apart if needed. No messing about, no dancing around the edges, she was going straight for the source of it all. Ignoring the frost that was building up, even with the fire she surrounded herself with, her assault was vicious and relentless.

“Hey! Get back here, you little brat! I ain’t done with you yet! Where’d you go?! Come back!”

With a single solid blow and concentrated fire from other players, it seemed the ice witch had sustained more damage than she could handle in record time, and yet Freja still wasn’t satisfied; indeed, she was mad to see the girl disappear, leaving behind more flecks of snow where she used to be as if giving one last middle finger to laugh at her.

Freja cursed. With the ice mage gone, not only was she interrupted from a good break, but she forced to accept an unsatisfying conclusion to vent it out. And it was only getting colder.

“Little bit—” Something to her right exploded like a tank had just fired its main cannon, and inhuman shrieks soon followed. WAH! What the hell?!”

To her right, where the ground once stood, a hole or burrow of sorts had appeared. But what came out of that hole, that was even stranger.

Freja had to stop and think for a moment, asking herself if she didn’t suddenly wind up in that old movie, THEM! Or maybe the cold mixed with what alcohol had gotten into her system was starting to get to her. Neither one would have been pleasant to admit. Then again, neither would the reality that a giant, hostile, screeching and squirming ant had just appeared in the dead of winter and was looking for food. People-sized food.

And it was headed for the mages. Freja’s thoughts immediately flicked to her comrades in the Witch Ops, not to mention her new drinking buddy, both categories to whom people belonged happening to be right behind her.

At least for now she wouldn’t have to worry much about venting her frustration.

“Don’t try it, Ant-Man! I hold the high ground!” Freja picked up her axe again, and though she didn’t exactly understand ant anatomy (antatomy?) outside of what was taught in basic biology, she figured a strike to the head would do the trick. She strafed directly into its path and made an upwards diagonal chop, grading one of its pincers while cutting the rest of its big ugly face.

    Cycle 8

As the battle quickly ramped up, the Bandit King let out a booming voice that filled the entirety of the courtyard and beyond. If you knew Zeus at all, the resemblance between them was striking, one can only wonder about the past they had had together.

BANDITS ASSEMBLE, YOUR KING IS BEING ATTACKED RIGHT NOW, ARE YOU JUST GOING TO WATCH?

After his shout, reinforcement arrived from both Entrance A and B. Out of Entrance A was a group of Hydromancers who immediately started preparing a spell to help their master.

The group that tried to enter the courtyard could not go through the massive pile of snow that had blocked their path. Fortunately, there was a competent Pyromancer among them who started to melt a way through the snow. If Entrance B was destroyed at range, the snow would crush them and most likely block the path for the rest of the fight.

Erasmus himself growled angrily as he grabbed his ultra axe and began spinning in a circle, inflicting great damage on anyone within his immediate vicinity, kicking up the snow within his whirlwind axe attack, inflicting damage on the curs that had attacked him so viciously.

“Your highness, the spell is ready, please move away!” the Hydromancers cried out, urging Erasmus to move away. In response, the Bandit King sought shelter in Zone 3 as the Hydromancer’s blizzard spell barraged his opponents.

If you ended your turn in zone 2 and 4, you will be fall victim to a blast of frost coming down on you and onward in a wide straight line. The moment the cold hit you, your body immediately go into shock as you can feel your skin becoming solid and cracking a bit, eliciting great pain.

The Hydromancers then went back to chanting, prepping another spell to take control back from the pesky adventurers.

As if that wasn't enough, the Ant screamed in anger was it was attacked. Magic aside, it simply wanted to kill the bullies that had inflicted damage on it. Looking at all of the aggressors in Zone 5 with its dead crystallized eyes, the ant quivered violently before it vomited sticky goo onto its targets. The rancid smell was enough to bring an adult man to his knees. But more insidiously, it sapped energy from its victim and healed itself with it.

    Actions
    Attacking Template:
    1. Edit the 000 inside health and energy tags
    2. Edit the number inside loc=zone tag, this is where your character is
    3. Edit the name of the target you are attacking
    4. Link your tracker and roll
    5. Edit the inside of the score tag
    6. For the last part, edit the target's name. Then look for the enemy's last recorded HP and subtract your score from it. This is to help the DM keep track of enemy's HP!
    Supporting Template:
    1. Edit the 000 inside health and energy tags
    2. Edit the number inside loc=zone tag, this is where your character is
    3. Edit this part: Single/AoE Heal/Buff. Options: single heal, AoE heal, single buff, AoE buff
    4. Edit the name of the target you are supporting
    5. Link your tracker and roll
    6. Edit the inside of the score tag

    Attack
Note Whenever you attack an enemy, you will gain one stack of Freezing. If you ever reach 6 stacks, your character will be frozen and taken out of the battle permanently. Reckless attack will give you 2 stacks.

This condition can be dispelled normally, or cleared by Pyromancy, White Magic via the "Heat" action.

Attack You attack the enemy using your highest mastery as modifier.
    • Roll a d100
    • Modifier: add 5 per mastery tier excluding beginner (mastered get +10)
    • Modifier: also add 5 per mastery tier per weapon tier
    • Subtract 10 EN
Reckless Attack: Attack your enemy with reckless abandon. Take x2 damage next cycle.
    • Roll 2xd100
    • Modifier: add 5 per mastery tier excluding beginner (mastered get +10)
    • Modifier: also add 5 per mastery tier per weapon tier
    • Subtract 20 EN
    • If you reckless attack once, you take x2 damage the next time the enemies attack.
    • If you reckless twice, subtract 20 HP the second time, do not multiply this.

The sweet taste of success did not last long as the rancid flavor of bile rose in Yukisa’s throat to take its place. He was expecting his first experience of teleportation to be something magical, but instead he just came out nauseous and even face-planted into the snow due to dizziness.

When he managed to pull himself together, the booming voice of the Bandit King caused him to quickly hop out of the snow and onto his feet, pointy branch ready in hand to poke anyone who dared get too close.

Since Erasmus was all the way across the map, and Yukisa didn’t quite have enough turns to get to him and deal any significant damage, he decided instead to target someone closer: in this case, the ice witch.

… Unfortunately, hearing her say “You’re not supposed to go after me!” was enough to cause him to hesitate. Conflicts were something he preferred avoiding, and he really didn’t want to cause someone else harm, even if they were a threat. If there was no immediate need, he wouldn’t attack, leaving him to stand there like a useless pawn that would simply serve to be sacrificed to the enemy.

    BOOM!

To his right, an extremely powerful blast went off, completely blocking off Entrance B… and also creating a hole from which a massive black ant with purple juice dripping from its pincers emerged.

Yeah, he definitely wouldn’t feel bad killing that.

All uncertainty went out the window, and he rushed at the over-sized insect with his practically imaginary spear ready. Heroically, he leapt into the air, raising his stick above him in preparation for a drop attack. As gravity began to pull him back down, storm clouds formed above him, static electricity crackling intimidatingly. Upon returning to the ground, the spear pierced straight through the ant, and lightning struck the wet wood, causing it to serve as a lightning rod and frying the ant into a crisp.

Well, that was what the newbie was hoping to achieve, anyway. But with a roll of 29 and no modifiers or buffs, instead he gave the beast a tickle at best, and at worst did no significant damage while completely exposing himself to an attack from it.

“Ehe…” he muttered with a gulp. “I’m not tasty, I swear..”

Crap, the cold's not lifting away even after Megan is long gone. To add more, bandit mages came to Erasmus' aid from an entrance. Another group coming is probably pyromancers trying to melt their way from another entrance, but Corvella cannot reach that place. Instead, she locked her eyes on the entrance nearest to her to prevent anymore reinforcements. At that moment, the Bandit King swung his ridiculously oversized axe in a spinning movement, its blade struck Corvella right in the abdomen and shattering parts of her armor.

As she moved through the slippy snowy grounds, bandit hydromancers' ice pillars began to storm the zone. Hadn't she brought a shield, the blonde would be an icicle pop right now. With shield up, she ran into the entrance and threw her shield in such force that it knocked the last piece of rock holding it open, making it crumble and preventing further entry. The action left her open, though, as she felt her skin going pale and blue from the blizzard.
