More bandits came pouring out of the entrances up ahead, apparently casting some sort of wide spell that hit a lot of people. And, there were more trying to make their way into the area, judging from the little wisps of steam she could see rising from the large pile of snow to her right.

Well, she couldn't reach that area, so she'd have to leave it up to the others to take care of. And, at any rate, she was going to help take down the king himself. So, she had to begin making her way over there.

There wasn't any getting around the skirmish with the giant ant. She couldn't linger, but she briefly stopped by to swing at a leg, trying to at least inconvenience it in some way. Her hit appeared to strike true, but it was hard to tell whether it had any material effect at all. Regardless, that was her contribution to that fight. Perhaps it would help out those who were struggling with it earlier.

She had bigger targets in mind after all.

It was about that time when the jet lag of having expended energy was on its way towards placing weights upon the pyromancer's limbs- Reminding her of the painful exhaustion. She knew it was coming. It came every time, as if it was on a strict routine, so she did not doubt its imminent arrival. But there was something strange. Some sort of mystic tether, connecting the stream of her power with another source, appearing to be a fallen bandit, but the fetter was one created by another entity. A stranger stood not far from herself, providing her this newfound renewal, and saving her from that horrible hangover.

"Hey, you!" She pointed him out specifically, a pleasant smile on her face. "I appreciate the help." Then, madness. The moment that last word had escaped her maw, the explosion rattled her. One massive, violent something had gone off, sending an avalanche of snow plowing downwards. The noise was more than distracting, even extending to the point of potential physical discomfort.

"Shit!" Her ears rang, a low whistle echoing inside the space between her ears. Her voice was faint past it all, and her hearing had been hindered, but through the cantankerous battlefield, she spotted something of interest. Past the strange ants, past the snowfall, and past the bandits, there was one at the end of it all. The leader of his troop. The whistle that pierced her ear drums became a voice, boiling and rocky. 'Burn.'

She needn't be told twice. She exited Zone 7, darting into Zone 5, shooting a brief glance towards her friend @Temperance, making sure she was still around. 'Keep in control.' The cat spoke. Drawing power from the strange spirit connection given to her by @Alric Stalwart (what an awesome person, seriously), and from the fire inside of her, Nalla clasped her hands together, as though packing together a snowball. Forging within her palms a flaming pebble, she tossed it into the air. "Psh, control. I WANT AN EXPLOSION!" Pulling back her foot, she punted the pebble like a soccer ball, as it came falling down, sending the incendiary projectile towards the bandit king. "BOOM!"

There was very little that could satisfy her as much as watching the eruption. Her own creation. Her own power. No longer feeble.

_____Kaede was expecting more of a fight to come from the ant as she tried her best to be a pain in its side. Her dagger jabing into the shell at random spots as she kept close to her target and made sure to give it everything she had for the time being. The others could surely hold off the boss of the area long enough or beat it without her as she worked to keep those weaker targets from the rest of the team. Not a hero’s role but she never wanted to be held with high regard. She just wanted to fight something worth her time.

_____Frame spun slowly around her target, an almost beautiful link to each of her attacks that followed after each other in quick motions thanks to both her mobility and pierce mastery being rather high compared to her others. She was going to give it her all, and for the moment the creeping frost along her frame was ignored due to the thrill of fighting and the temper still yet to fully leave her body as another strike cut across the ant’s body looking almost ready to deal the finishing blow.

This was silly... Everybody was running about, throwing their strength at distractions like balconies and brats, rather than focusing on the obvious boss of the room. And sure, minion waves could prove troublesome if allowed to swarm... But there was no coordination here. No actual plan, other than "swing at whatever seemed closest." Hell, there was a crowd in zone 5, around nine or so people, and they still hadn't taken down that ant monster.

So when Hydromancers appeared and began to toss spells around, she ignored them, satisfied in knowing that others would start in on them as soon as the ant and the rest of the mansion was destroyed. Because killing the Bandit King wasn't enough- they had to kill his house too, apparently? Well, not her. She kept her eyes locked on the man and joined the crowd in zone 5, getting herself close enough to the King to hurl holy hellfire. Aiming a finger at the man, for lack of a magical tool through which to focus and empower her spells, she sent a beam of bright hot light cutting through the air towards him, vaporizing the snow that neared it.

It would have to do, until she got a magical tool...
And... ow! What was that chill that suddenly bit into her? She frowned, noticing a layer of frost that had covered her clothes, and the pink bite on her flesh as it screamed from a sudden dousing of coldness. Glancing about, she saw others that were similarly affected. Some far worse than herself in appearances... She'd probably have to thaw them out now, if they... Yup, there it was. Corvella, in the comm channel, asking for help. Well. Maybe somebody else would get to that before she had to... so she could keep having fun finger-banging the Bandit King.

Magdalyn rolled her shoulders, then popped her neck from left to right. The anger that had fueled her still burned bright, and her harpoon blazed red in her hands. Both were lethal.

Her companions had done an excellent time chipping away at the ant’s health, and she knew that one well-placed attack would likely end it. But if Lena had learned anything during her time on a farm, it was that ants were rarely seen alone. Where there was one ant, there were bound to be many. What would killing this ant accomplish? Would it simply unleash a full swarm of them? Would it do more harm than good?

In that moment, Mags did not care. As another player danced back, providing Magdalyn with an opening, she lunged forward. Boots slipped on the pebbled floor, but pure adrenaline kept her on-course. And without hesitation, without regret, she plunged the sharp end of her harpoon into the ant.

It shoved back against her, as if it meant to keep fighting. Had her attack not finished it off after all? But then the body trembled, lurched once, and then collapsed as the thin legs buckled. With a satisfied smirk, she jerked the weapon from her enemy’s corpse.

He felt the chill surge away as magic washed over him, and he withdrew his blade from a final, dying bandit. Kinin glanced up at the sea of strife and glanced around for the best course of action. All over, new enemies appeared and older ones vanished, both vanquished and fleeing. His allies cut down some as quickly as they alleared, but at the rear, the Bandit King stood and watched the proceedings under very little duress.

It was time to put the pressure on.

Kijin poured his stamina into a dead sprint and rushed through the warzone with his head down and blade over his back. He surged past friend and for alike, his attention seized by the boss at hand.

He slid promptly on a patch of ice, skidded to a halt and rolled over his shoulder into a crouched position, now in the presence of the Bandit King.

"Your Highness," he spat ironically, peeling the weapon from his back and falling into a ready stance.

A savage grin ripped across Savannah’s features even as goo and muck dripped from her body and landed with sickening splats against the ground. She smelled horrible, however, she couldn’t focus on that. The adrenaline from battle pulsed through her and her mind was focused on one thing: kill. Her protective instincts had gone out the window.

She existed only as a being filled with wrath and a desire to cleave thing in half, to see fresh crimson blood marking the alabaster snow, and head rolling from the bodies of her enemies.

Predator-like, her silver eyes flicked up towards the area where the Bandit King had escaped to. She held nothing back as she charged forward, swinging her great ax in a wide arc, her chuckle deadly as the blade connected with soft yielding flesh. She tried to ignore the icicles hanging from her armor and the cold, tingling feeling that vibrated through her hands, but it was getting more difficult to do with every swing.

And, for the first time ever, she found herself winded. Savagely, she shook her head, released a battle cry that was part frustration, part crazed delight, and swung again at her enemy.

After that absolutely horrendous display, Yukisa was sure he would get mauled by the ant that probably wouldn’t be happy about his attempt at tickling it. But fortunately, other - much more talented (and better at rolling) - adventurers came to his aid, smiting the beast down within a few hits. His emotions were mixed by that: on one hand, he was grateful not to get juiced (unlike a certain someone he knew), but on the other, there was nothing that made him feel worse than someone having to intervene and save his ass. It made him feel useless.

Either way, the ant was dealt with, so that was one less threat to have to worry about. If they kept it this rate up, soon enough all the threats would be gone! At least, that’s how he thought it worked… but little did he know, there were reinforcements on their way, and if they didn’t do something about it, there would be more enemies to barraging them with damage.

Or well, he didn’t know that until he turned around and noticed the massive pile of snow in the entrance was glowing red hot as pyromancers attempted to melt through. Yukisa quickly added one and one and realized that this was a bad sign. There would be more fighting if those bandits got through… But if they simply can’t get in, that could be prevented!

“Oh no you don’t!” he exclaimed, looking up at the area above the entrance. It seemed fairly weakened after Emerath’s explosion, so a few well-placed hits would bring it down. And so he reached his arms forth, focusing his energy to cause the wind around him to swirl, gradually gaining speed until it was at such a high velocity, it would hit as hard as stone. Then he launched said whirlwind forwards, straight at the crumbling structure.

This time around, luck was on his side and he rolled a 98 rather than something below 30. Perhaps this would serve as redemption from his previous pitiful attempt. Sure, attacking a wall wasn’t nearly as heroic as attempting to eliminate a vile beast, but it would have to do.

    Cold.

His body was freezing over, like that nightmare of a climb when he had first challenged the Deva of Frozen Lightning. When he could feel frost climbing up in his lungs. When his fingers were blackening. When his eyes were blurring. When everything around him was nothing but a formless, white expanse.

    Cold.

But it felt good. And the chaos, the madness, so much different from the crushing, white silence of a true blizzard, kept the midnight haired muse awake and aware. Megan, stomped under the might of a mob and retreating to the Rose Garden before her life was forfeit. A fiery explosion and the chittering of massive ants. The declaration of the Bandit King, and the squad of Hydromancers that rushed to his aid, pillars of ice crystallizing dramatically. And above the din, yet another sought to give Cain her blessings. His body lightened, senses enhanced as the world slowed around him, Alphabet’s Chronomantic Haste accelerating him dramatically. It was almost excessive, really, how many times he’s gotten buffed…but the Flagbearer of Miracles wasn’t going to just deny the prayers of others. If that’s how things were going to be.

“Gee, I guess I gotta get out of the backlines!”

Twirling out of the way of another pillar of ice, Cain slid against the icy ground as if he were skating, Acrobatics and Harmonics mixing together into a dance of its own. Vespers of arcane power traced his path through the battlefield, his shoes carving into the ice. The mana core was burning up now, switching from elegant control the destructive might, and his grin became demon-like as he bore down onto the King. One in. One out. Keep it simple and keep it clean.

A kaleidoscope of light weaved between the squad of warriors already hacking away at the King, pure energy smashing into his chest.

It wouldn’t concave it, not yet.

But already, another Arcanamancy salvo was lighting up in Cain’s hands.

One must never waste a support’s buff, after all.

Now that the moment of panic had cleared, Luna could take a brief moment to breathe and evaluate her next step. She was getting colder and colder as time went on, as was everybody else she was sure, but she still had to keep going. She turned bleary eyes to the entrance that hadn't been collapsed, flicking through her grimoire again before selecting a spell at random. Slowly, a hand raised, before a small orb of magic appeared in front of her palm, firing off into the entrance.

Though, she felt like she hadn't done much at all, as all that happened was a few chunks of stone breaking off, much to her chagrin. She frowned, squeezing her hands experimentally as she looked around at the carnage, covered in slime from that and and slowly freezing. Her eyes found Savannah, in the middle of the carnage, who she could only pray was okay and would make it.

She swallowed, stumbling backwards before Natiri braced her, a rumble escaping the tiger's jaws. She couldn't fall just yet, not whilst they still had something to do.

Eryl saw her chance as Blank vanished and the ant was teetering from multiple attacks before crumbling at last. The boss didn’t show any signs of disappearing any time soon, they were concentrating all their attack power on the boss now. Eryl had to close the distance between her and him before she could do anything useful.

Her boots left light impressions on the show as Eryly sprinted ahead. The flurry of the falling snow from the hydromancers whipped around her, chilling the redhead, but she forced herself to push on. She slid to a halt at last, a few feet from the bandit king. Her left hand gripped her sword as it sprang from its sheith. Intensity and determination shone in her dark brown eyes as Eryl glared her foe down, preparing to attack.

Yessssssss. THAT had been a good attack... She raised her hand to her lips and blew as though huffing away smoke from an actual firearm, grinned, and set a hand in her wide belt as though holstering the weapon. Others continued to batter against ant and entrance, apparently ignoring the Hydromancers nearby. That was likely going to be a mistake... oh well! Mistakes made things fun.

She watched as Cain slid across the ground and sent several blasts towards the Bandit King. Not bad, for a supposed support, like herself... Well, it was time to throw another attack at the large boss, and totally ignore her role as a support!

From her hand came several glowing white spheres of light, forming a Klemperer rosette as they began to spin about in a halo of light, rushing towards the bandit king only to wrap about his neck and explode in a bright flash. It wasn't as powerful as her previous attack had been... but whatever. She had had her fun and gotten that out of her system. Now, she could ease off the throttle and go back to watching and helping out. After all, dealing 12 to 13% the boss's health in damage wasn't bad for a support. But... people would be angry if she didn't get back to supporting, and she wasn't nearly drunk enough to listen to them complain.

'Had your fun?' The cat spoke with a snide tone, whispering the phrase like a cruel insult into the pyromancer's thoughts. 'There are people who need help.' Unfortunately, at this point, the girl was in an almost hypnotized state, staring towards the mess of flame that was still dissipating into the air from her previous attack. Ah, how wonderful. But once that trance ended, she realized something absolutely dreadful! This cold really was something! It was starting to nick at her arms and legs like little wolves, biting at her flesh and making the little hairs stand on end. She had been so focused on her foes, that she had neglected the biting frost that was making victims of them all! With her hand in front of herself, she pointed a finger upwards, cradling a little fire, like that of a match. Very weakly, this warmed her palms. "Temper, I'm freezing my ass off! Me, of all people! Damn co-o-o-old!" She complained to her friend, who now entered the same zone as her.

'Silly girl, another is far colder than you.' At the immediate notion of the cat's speaking, the purple haired pyromancer scoffed, squinting. It was her usual response to that witty animal that would never agree with her. But this time, the cat spoke of another? Peeking behind her boots, Nalla saw the wispy, cerulean entity, tail and all, staring towards an ally not too far away. This stranger, @Corvella, with lovely blonde hair, already appeared to be visibly changed by the cold, the shade of her skin changing. How horrible!

    "For once, good call, cat."
Nalla pointed her hands towards the freezing lady, sending her three fiery charms out in the same fashion that she would for a regular attack. But this time, her intent was much less malicious. "Hey, lady!" She smiled reassuringly, if that was even possible for the mad flame. "I got ya, don't worry a bit!" The papers soared closer to the lass, and hovered near her, a little swirling bubble of embers concealing each of their thin forms. From these fiery spheres, the embers fed outwards, draining into the cold flesh, warming it, and goodness hopefully not burning anything. Nalla still needed to get a handle on her powers, after all.

"Hah, I make a decent space heater, huh!?" She joked with @Temperance.

Jesus Christ, he could hardly feel his limbs now. There was now officially more ice covering his body than there was clothing, and Cain could feel the effects upon it as if he had been dumped into an ice bath. Perhaps going all out wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but…

Man, he totally understood what it was like to be a braindead DPS now. No need to consider who to heal, no need to consider who to buff, no need to consider tactics or strategies or HP bars or EN management. He could just hit shit and be satisfied with the big numbers that popped up in response! It was like gambling, except inversely beneficial, because the higher points you got, the closer you inched to death yourself, as the boss monster gets closer and closer to Enrage!

…yeah, this was beginning to hurt a lot, and he definitely wasn’t THAT interested in having a repeat of the Supply Escort mission once more. Time to simmer down a bit. Amethyst brilliance burst into another six beams, striking the Bandit King once more, before Cain winked and finger gunned @Temperance , acknowledgin that another fellow support had decided to take things into their own hands. He waved at the King himself with a wide grin, motioned at @Nalla to do that magical thing where she made everyone warm, and then, only then, with his damage dealing ego boosted and his fingernails freezing off his fingers, did the Flagbearer of Miracles back off, tipping his hat to those still in the fray.

With devilish style befitting of a man who weaved worlds with words alone, he moonwalked into the far back of the courtyard, hoping that someone would be kind enough to brush all this goddamn ice off him.

The damn thing vomited all over her. The odor was rancid, enough to have made Freja double over in disgust and nausea if not for her job giving her an unfortunate familiarity with similar smells. And of course the ant, being ectothermic, meant the goo wasn’t even warm to shield from the cold (though she had mixed feelings about that)—it was just disgusting, slimy bug juice that was sticking to her more stubbornly the colder it got.

“Auughh! Ech, ech! That’s nasty!” Just because it wasn’t warm, though, didn’t mean Freja wouldn’t act like she was set on fire; she howled, hopped around, flailing her arms against her clothes before dropping into the snow. To hell with this bandit stronghold.

Thankfully, other players stepped in to finish the creature off right as she got what she could of the goo off of her, even if she was all the colder for it. “Ha-HA! That’s enough of your antics!” Now it was time to face the big cheese himself before anything else could interfere.

Her fingers, toes, and other extremities starting to feel numb, Freja powered through the cold blizzard and onslaught of the hydromancers regardless. This madness wasn’t going to end until the head honcho was just a honcho, so to speak, and thankfully it seemed she wouldn’t be alone in bringing him down. As she rushed over to the giant of a man, she found it in her to concentrate power in her legs for a power leap—

    “TAKE THIS!! PLUNGING GUILLOTINE ATTAAA—

And let her brain recapture the moment, in slow motion, as what was supposed to be a downward chop that used the momentum and weight of her axe to cut down the Bandit King like a log only graze a bit of his torso, while she fell face-first, once again, into the thick blanket of white.

The plunging attack is the most reliable move in the game, they said. It’s so satisfying when you pull it off, they said. . . .
