Gathering her wits, the battle seemed close to an end. The bandit king was dead, ant was dead or driven off, hydromancers dead... a good day all in all but she felt like she hadn't done much. Fortunately for Velka, it seemed that there were some stragglers left. Rising back up, Velka readied her lances for one final charge. She hadn't bothered to put out the fire engulfing her body, even as the unnatural chill of the place took it's toll, regardless of her actions. No hesitation, no remorse, just battle and the end in sight, and within her grasp.

As the drifting and fading began to decelerate its pace, there was nothing that ventured as a thought through Nalla's mind. It was over, after all. She had lost. She had fallen. As thought it were floating in an aqueous, empty plane, her body drifted upwards, then back down again. Flames were extinguished in a puff of smoke. Violent light, into cold dark.

A final stray upwards, then back down again. She fell upon her back in the real world again, physical, breathing, and with a spark begun again inside of her. The fire had been brought back, but... How? Had she not been slain? Above her was an unknown Yladian, with her fist upon her stomach. It was this person who had revived her? But Nalla had no known memory of this person in the past.

"You brought me back?" She stared at the stranger. Now was not the time to ask why, but she would certainly inquire it at a later date. Her body still felt tired, as though she had been out much longer than just a few moments on the battleground, but she could stand. Upon her feet, she addressed this unknown person that she now owed a great gratitude. "My name is Nalla. I cannot thank you enough for this." She bowed her head to @Seraphy. "Let us meet again under different circumstances once this is finished."

With her statement completed, she turned her eyes upon the opposition that was, no doubt, still kicking somewhere out there. The bandit king, finished. The hydromancers, finished. What was left? The damn archers. The ones that had begun the maelstrom of madness that had lead to her initial falling. With a smirk, she knocked on the side of her own head.

"You in there, Ele?" There was no response at first, but then, another voice spoke. 'Revenge. Burn.' The thought brought an uncontrollable chuckle to escape the pyromancer. She nodded at the notion. "Oh, I will." She locked her eyes on target, clenching and unclenching her fingers in preparation for the action she was about to take. Cupping her hands around her mouth the three small suns that had previously fed warmth into the cold, now fed flame into her shoulders. A deep breath later, she spit a ball of fire towards the armada of assassins. "Take that, ya shits!"

Everything was happening so fast. The ant was finally defeated, the entryways collapsed, the King himself dropped to the ground--but there was more danger to be found around every corner. The mages began casting spells that seemed to freeze her to the very bone, arrows began flying in towards the rear--everything was a mess.

And to add to that, the ground began to feel rather... unsteady beneath her feet. Valdrada's eyes widened as she almost lost her footing. "Hey, we have to go! I don't think it's safe to stand here anymore!" she shouted, looking around her. Most people seemed exhausted, and she didn't know for how long the earth would hold steady.

Well, nothing for it. She sheathed her weapon, tucked her shield away, and grabbed the arm of the nearest person--Celestine, ah yes, the weird and chatty girl who had rode with them in the wagon here--and began hauling them away from the precarious ground.

Reckless attacks begin to take over a majority of even the more shy or careful players as the battle dragged on. Fortunately, though, because that meant things would get done faster. The Bandit King - dead by a majority's dire effort - and Hydromancers slain with what seemed to be a sort of ease after the deed was done. In fact Comet reveled in the fact that the whole mission could be settled sometime soon. It should at least. However, surprises weren't foreign and nor were disappointments. Something would turn such as Caccu being kidnapped. But the ragtag band of "heroes" would persist with a furious might. With situations such as Seigi's insanity? This, at last, wasn't shocking but something worth nodding in pride towards.

The pink-haired woman had the ability to both lean on and support her teammates who would inevitably do the same. A faith centered around this bondage that didn't feel much the same as past experiences: perhaps the events of Terrasphere were shaping greedy judgment. For a fleeting moment she cared about others with a pounding heart. And then Comet felt the ground begin to give way; suddenly her self-absorbed mindset returned. The Archer cared for very few, including herself. With a heavy shove of strong will and nothing but familiarly to give any sort of meaning her arms pushed Temperance forward before switching into a drag-along by the arm. Every man for themselves... unless that (wo)man is beneficial to you in some way, and you really want to look good to your peers.

"Sticking around any longer would've been a great way to die, huh?"
she'd turn to look at the white-haired woman once done running, chest heaving, and let go of her hand with a sense of disgust just barely hidden. Most likely because Comet now knew the other was better than her in a way. A way she wanted to be.

One person out of the way of danger--or at least, out of one possible source of danger. Out of the frying pan, into the walk-in freezer, apparently, but that was a less imminent source of pain and danger so it'd have to do.

Still, there were still some people who weren't moving. With a grimace, she looked around. Some people looked like they were getting ready to go, so she focused on those who didn't seem prepared to move. Like, the familiar sight of one of her other wagon-mates, the flamboyant musician that Seigi had introduced to her at the start of their journey.

She dashed forward, grabbing him by the arm and hauling him back to where a few other people were huddling together. "Come on!" she said, trying her best to make sure the pair of them wouldn't stumble and slip on the ice. Not as easy to do when she her legs felt like blocks of ice and she was dragging someone who was almost an entire foot taller than her. "Just, hurry up!"

Holy hell would you look at the time. One minute Alkaid was freezing once again, prompting a couple sips of Seraphy Hot Chocolate (TM) and then the next she got to watch everyone go crazy.

    Really crazy.

Of course, she wanted to help, but--well--truth be told she slipped and fell on her ass. Hard. And suffered a wardrobe malfunction, which had probably been there longer than she thought.

Regardless, she didn't get to join in on the fun. Boo. But at least she was plenty able to help out as things came to a close. That just left the question of who to help out.

Close by was Emerath. Good man who'd just run on a bit of bad luck recently. However, help was on the way for him. Freja, Celestine, and Comet were fine, too, so everyone she'd run into was taken care of. Well, barring one.

Alkaid's eyes picked out the Death Knight she'd healed earlier, now running on fumes. A relentless woman. Good tank, too.

Careful not to slip once more, she rushed down to the woman's side, doing her best to prop up the armored woman. "Alrighty, Miss Facewrecker. Good work. Gonna need you to walk with me a bit here, though, because this place is about to go, and I really don't want to see your girlfriend over there crying if you go with it." The ice made for shaky footing, but still Alkaid smiled, a hint of mirth entering her tone, "And don't you dare tell me you two aren't an item! I saw you two. You both were making me think 'Just kiss already!' earlier."

Eryl watched as at last the Bandit king they had fought so hard against had his head cleaved clean from his shoulders. Digital blood sprayed out from his neck stub. Under her feet, the woman felt the ground begin to shake.

Her eyes lighted on the one of the players who had helped deal the final blow. They were worn and weary from the tremendous effort the act had taken. Eryl didn’t have time to think. The ground was beginning to give way. She shrugged off the tiredness and forced her feet to move. First they came in a shuffle, then a hurried rush. As she approached the other player, Eryl leveled her shoulder and hit them with all she had in a bull-rush hit. Eryl let out a grunt at the impact, adrenaline carried her forward, past the dangerous ground. With every step, Eryl could feel her legs getting weaker and more tired. Her hair whipped around as the redhead lost her momentum. Her leg slipped in a step and she stumbled, almost falling face-first. They were in the clear, but Eryl refused to stop till she knew they were safe.

Finally, her body could carry them no more, and Eryl collapsed head first, on her protectorate. Eryl's chest heaved with gasps for air from the exhertion as she rolled onto the frigid snow. They were safe from mortal danger for a second, but hardly safe in total.

Her body is going stiff, and just as Corvella was ready to drop, a woman called to her. Can't seem to make out what was she sending, as the blonde's vision was about to drop, she felt a surge of heat around her body, quickly melting the thin layer of ice on her skin. Corvella finally got to look at her savior @Nalla, just right before the zone was bombarded by attacks from bandits, Erasmus himself and his assassins. "No!" she shouted, but the chaos ensuing around the battlefield muffled her voice.

The fight continues as everyone pushes their best against the black wolf king, and he was finally finished with a grand magic breaking through the sound barrier. The battlefield was soon turned into a crumbling ground, probably of the result of both the grand magic and Bandit King's death. She looked at her teammate, which is in the risk of collapsing along with the ground and without hesitation Corvella ran to her side and grabbed Kaede along to safety.

The other bandits being dealt upon by the remaining people who could fight amidst the cold, Bradwynne then assessed the surroundings. There were clearly lesser able people right now than before, and a lot of the party was injured. This should take a double time for him to set his work on, but it should be his job, so he did not care anyway.

Walking around the area in search for someone in dire straits he was brought into a medical case that was just hauled nearby him by an acquaintance. But as he was quite far from the person to make an immediate impact on her health, he just offered a quite long prayer spell with the intersection of the crucifix of the rosary that he was holding pointing at the person that he was about to heal, hoping that the prayer should help her survive until he could get to her.

As the words "So I pray" were said finally by Bradwynne, streams of light strayed from the rosary towards the person, enfolding her with healing light that should help in fighting conditions associated with cold, as well as her wounds from the fights that she had experienced.

The tide of battle had turned in their favor. “Get back!” Destiny shoved a hydromancer, who tripped over the fox right behind him and fell on his ass in the snow. That alone wouldn’t have been lethal except that he did so right before a volley of assassin arrows and a stampede of Lion’s Pride members tore through the zone. The fox gave a yelp as it was almost crushed and was then subsequently scooped up and packed under the Yladian’s arm like a football. “Hush! Hell, this whole place is about to go down!” At least, that’s what it felt like. Casting an eye around her, the tremors seemed to be coming from the south, back where the ice witch had been hiding in her wall. Worse… looked like there were still some people out there.

Christ. All right, linebacker mode—Destiny mobilized all her snow-hopping, ice-sprinting powers and bolted south across the courtyard. Others had the same idea as her, urging on their freezing compatriots, but the woman’s light eyes were fixed on a familiar red-haired figure, the chords of his song still lingering in the air. She realized she finally knew who the mysterious musician from the healing spring had been. With a final leap and a bound, fox chattering angrily under her arm, Destiny landed on the quaking ground beside him. “Hey! Let’s go, mister hero!” The tall woman attempted to latch onto Emerath's arm to yank him back towards Zone 7, the site of the players’ original entrance.

But there wasn’t time. Her dash through the icy wastes had taken its toll on her as much as anyone—she panted with exertion and cold, limbs moving slowly, fingers numb. 'Course it ends like this. Couldn’t have just stayed where it was safe up by the fallen archway, no, had to go all rescue mission and saunter right up to the damn epicenter. Des gritted her teeth and forced herself on anyway, eyes narrowed against the freezing wind. And she’d teased Emerath for playing hero.

Corvella successfully brought Kaede to safety, but there's still Emerath to save. She looked back, and saw Destiny dashed towards Emerath. At a first glance, it would seem that they both would made it, but nope. The ground start to shake violently and it seems that the girl's burst of speed just expired, leaving her unable to move further. Afraid that they would not make it, Corvella pushes her will to move her body towards them.

"WHAT are you guys doing?" the knight shouted once she was close to the pair's vicinity. She helped both of them to run back into the safer part of the ground, using investigation mode to guide them through safe path. But when once again the icy ground below them seem to give up any moment, she used her enormous strength to toss them into safety. Her EN meter dropped to the 10%, but she still tried her best to stand, move and not fall down. At least they won't be ant foods now.

_____Kaede was not a fan of being saved, much more when the person who saved her was now left at risk of falling. Grumbling to herself for a moment before she dragged herself to her feet and rushed back into the dangerous area with very little worry. Frame rushing to Corvella’s side before Kaede gave little room for fighting back and picked the girl up like a princess before rushing them out of the area. While it might have looked good for a moment or two the weight eventually got to Kaede giving her one of two options.

_____She could toss the girl to stop from falling over, or fall on top of the girl. Picking the better choice, Kaede used the last bit of her strength to toss Corvella to a spot safer then her own and fell face first into the ground with little time to spare. Slowly rising to her feet and holding her busted nose Kaede glared at the girl for a moment before a soft smile crossed her face and she spoke.

”Thank you for the save, but next time, try not to leave yourself stranded ok… And please… if you do pick lighter armor…”

Everything that needed to die, was dead. And some things that didn't need to die, were about to be. While she didn't have any real skill in healing magics, she did have some fire. Well... some was an understatement. Channeling the flames around her, she looked for the person in the worst condition. Setting her sights on @Haru, she gently wafted the flames towards him, hopefully removing some of the frost. It wasn't a perfect solution, but with her lack of experience, it would have to do. With that done, Velka dropped to her knees in exhaustion before realizing just how cold it was. In the midst of battle, she tended to channel out everything except the fight but now? Shivering, she hoped that there would be a way out soon. Death in battle, was expected, exciting and at least had purpose. Death by the elements? Not so much.

Oh please don't tell me this is going to Hell in a handbasket now.

Having managed to get Savannah to safety, Alkaid looked over to where Emerath was. Something felt...off. All she knew was that there were multiple people over that way, and none had come over to safety yet. Once again she had to wonder, premonition or paranoia?

Well, he'll be okay. Even if help doesn't arrive, he's got gadgets. And more importantly, a good head on his shoulders.

Nodding to herself, Alkaid drew out her deck. Sure enough, danger loomed, but others were just hanging on by a thread. Some of which might've just needed the right push, and she already knew one who she owed some thanks for warming the place up earlier.

Once more Alkaid arranged her cards in a particular pattern, the Nine of Cups taking the center. A blessing for health, both mind and body. Perhaps just a slight touch from Hamal, too, although not as much as she'd have liked. Still, it would be enough, kicking her target's natural healing into overdrive. Particularly for that bleeding head wound...

By the time she was done, she turned her focus back to crumbling zones to see that, by some miracle, everyone was clear of the region. Awesome.

    Epilogue
Death by magic that was supposed to heal, death by fire, by blades and spears - with so many losing their lives, was there any difference between their deaths at this point? Even so, they pushed back until the end, until no bandit was left standing. Although logic would dictate that the enemy would otherwise prioritize survival, the bandit’s king champion aura had got the best of their minds, unbeknownst to all the adventurers. Loud rumbles could be heard as the battle reached the end and more zones collapsed, taking with them the dead and the contrasting red and white everywhere.

With almost half of the courtyard crumbling to pieces and when adrenaline was slowly losing its effects, you came to realize the wind is howling strong again, a clear sign of another incoming blizzard. The silence ended abruptly, however, as a loud explosion occurred coming from one of the castle’s walls. More bandits poured in, shouts of courage breaking the chilly silence and fighting back the natural, powerful wind. Yet, it all came to a halt when they properly assessed the situation. Almost half of the courtyard was gone, several bandits buried alive, but most importantly - the large and unmistakable corpse of their leader was amidst the rubble. Weapons and magic tools were dropped and arms raised in unison as the bandits ceased any offensive activity.

Meanwhile, the second in command recovered her consciousness, eyes wide at the state of the battleground. Her eyes shot between the remaining lions, but thankfully there weren’t many losses. Although her words were fitting of the catmage, they weren’t as active and energetic as before. It was unfortunate, but at this point, even their second in command was a bit drained of her energy. She stood up, looking around again before speaking up.

Alright nya bunch, we’ve done it… Phew. Thanks for saving mah fur back then! We’re still halfway there though, so we must continyue kickin’! Anyone who still has guts, git the bandits that surrendered and bind them!

We gotta secure the fortress for Astorea so the enyemy has no stronghold to return to! Anyone who can’t, git a healer to treat yeself! I repeat, we're still not done here yet! We’re still not done here!

After the dance of death, the remaining few hurried inside, seeking shelter from the incoming cold. Even the dimly lit and alien interiors of the enemy fortress felt more accomodating and welcoming than the white storm outside - you can finally rest, for the main goal of this quest has finally been achieved. All the pain, the despair and losses you had to go through came to an unceremonious and quiet end.

The scene repeated itself throughout the entire fortress as the pride occupied the large halls and rooms, subduing each and every single encounter met with dropped weapons and shattered realities, despite it all being just a simple… Game. The king has been slain, the king has been slain…

It was obvious that their leader meant a lot to them - regardless of which walks of life they came from, he still took them under his wing.

    What a shame,
Even though this was all a game
The good old despair was all the same.

Even so, despite all these losses, Astorea can walk forward towards a brighter future. Towards a new day where the player nation will grow and thrive - all thanks to your efforts.

The bandit king has been slain. The Pride has been reclaimed.

Yet, uncertainty fills the air. Nobody knows, and nobody dares bring it up for no one knows the answer. What happened to the man who brought you here?
