Spectator Ashiore smiled slightly as she stood in the crowd. She wasn't really in the mood to participate, not really wanting to stand up in front of so many people as she would inevitably fail at doing anything to the adorable penguin doll. Still, it was nice. This kind of thing was a nice break from day in and day out fighting monsters and training her skills and trying desperately to forget about the rotten tinge to her fingers. Now, at least she could have a bit of fun while she was trying to forget about that last bit. A few familiar faces, which was a bit of a surprise. This town didn't seem to be the gathering point for many adventurers, not many things to do. But the carnival was doing its job, she guessed. She certainly didn't imagine that she'd have spent as much time here if not for that. Ooh, someone got very close! She joined in on the applause when someone sent the penguin flying right at the center of the target. That was impressive, but there was still a long line of people hoping to try and beat that. Looks like this would be going on for quite a while, which was fine by her. More time to watch people try with determination and some... interesting use of skills and spells to launch a cute plush penguin through the sky.
Prinny Launch Attempt Mizuki often came to Salvont, mostly for the fish. She wasn't sure if it was ironic or fitting that as a Caenis she'd also have a strong liking for fish, but either way she enjoyed the fish nonetheless. It was a calm and isolated village, so she could go there and eat some of the best fish in Terrasphere in peace. At least, that was usually the case. This time around it wasn't very quiet with some sort of circus having arrived in the village and making a lot of noise. Well, at least the villagers were happy at such an unusual event occurring so Mizuki decided to just roll with it and wander around while gnawing on her latest serving of red snapper. Honestly the performances were pretty good. The announcement of there being a special treat later in the day also interested her, so she stuck around for the remainder of the day to see what would happen. Once it was getting darker Mizuki followed the crowds to the big tent where it was explained that the special treat was the opportunity to launch a large stuffed penguin and try to land it in the bullseye of a specially prepared circle. The Caenis raised an eyebrow at the explanation that the penguin had wanted to be an eagle, but shrugged and just went along with it. The girl was a good performer, doing her best to get the crowd excited and interested. Mizuki herself was more interested in testing out her skill to see how far she could actually launch something if she was allowed to let loose, and how accurate she could be with the amount of strength she used. Once a couple of attempts had been taken and the penguin had been returned to its original spot Mizuki stepped forward, walking up to the penguin and circling around it to get a good look at it from all sides. It didn't look like there was anything special about it other than its unusual shape. She even sniffed it to be sure, ignoring the confused reactions she could hear from some parts of the crowd. Yep, she knew how she was going to do this. Returning to her original spot in front of the penguin she took a low stance, one hand pulled back while the dark steel of her clawed gloves glinted in the light of the torches used to illuminate the tournament. Of course as claws they were meant to pierce and slash, but having a piece of metal on your fist still helped a lot with punching if you knew how to use it. Putting all of her weight on her front leg Mizuki lashed out, her fist shooting forward straight into the penguin as she tried to regulate her strength as best she could to prevent launching the penguin too far. Spectator "Hehehehe... let's see what they can do." Majolica had caught wind of an event where people could show off their skills from one place or another. Recently, she had decided to open the doors of her Witch Ops to people with potential, and what better way to find potential than at events like this. At the moment, she was willing to take almost anyone, but having some people with high power levels already to help train newer members would be a good idea. "Hehehe, maybe someone will do something really cool and will be a perfect fit for Witch Ops! Hehehe!" Majolica watched as the first familiar face come to the plate. It was the eternally cheery candy woman. Majolica watched as she punted the Prinny a respectable distance, but something bothered her about that woman. She was definitely powerful... but where was she during the ice witch fight? She tended to be pretty visible, and Majolica was there, but she didn't see her attacking the witch at all. Maybe she was out of energy, or something else came up... or maybe... hehehe... Next was the fortune teller. Majolica remembered her as well, though had little contact with her. She seemed nice though probably? Majolica watched as she landed a solid hit on the Prinny... with some wind magic behind her. "Hehehe, a wind mage... interesting... hehehe that along with her future sight skills... definitely a maybe! Hehehe!" Next an archer with a rather flashy trick shot. Majolica had never seen him before, but somehow he looked regal. Like a king or something, maybe someone who strode over great distances, like a ranger. Interesting. The next competitor Majolica recognized immediately. The dastardly copycat of wagon 2. Her cowardly snowball attack had gotten Majolica's clothes all went and cold when they were traveling to the bandits keep. "Hehehe... hey batta batta... hey batta batta... swing! Hehehe." Even with Majolica's inaudible taunting, the copycat had still managed a hard kick thanks to her wind powers. Even Majolica was a little jealous of the girl being stronger than her in something, but it mattered little. Majolica was quickly gaining experience in Black Magic, a true witch's forte. "Hehehe... she can only join if she begs..." Then there was Haru. She remembered him fondly as he had helped her secure one of the orb in the teleportation room. Though she had gotten help from him, she wasn't exactly sure what he could do... he did look like a mage though. As Majolica watched, Haru called his Stag to punt the Prinny. "A beast tamer? Hehehe, well that's unexpected! Hehehehe! That's something I could use! Hehehehe!" Majolica wrote down Haru's name with a checkmark. Bouncing up and down, she excitedly waited for next participant. Even though she wasn't participating, watching the contest actually turned out to be pretty fun.

One by one the contestants marched forward to the penguin, some gave it a hug, while others merely glared. Regardless, each one of them sent the stuffed penguin flying in the air, only for it to come crashing down in the ring below. Of all the contestants, however, only one managed to hit the very center. "Wow that was a great shot! Everyone give @Temperance a hand for her deft skills! Hold on right there and I will get your prize! The energetic woman moved towards Prinny, unzipping its back, and pulling from it a small bag. Lacey giggled before bouncing back towards Temperance and handing her the jingling coin purse. "Here you are~ Feel free to try again thought because we are just getting started. Who's ready for round two!" Again Lacey began to bounce around the arena, in a distracting fashion. In fact it was so distracting that one may miss the telltale ticking noises now emanating from Prinny, who stood haplessly nearby, ready to be launched once more. Prinny Launch Attempt Alpha was surprised to see a few familiar faces competing---Ivan Carl and Destiny Divebird were the more prolific participants. A few others in the spectators row rang a bell in her head but she couldn't quite place their appearances anywhere and, with a shrug, she clapped Ivan on the back with a bit too much pressure. "Ooooh! Fancy seeing you here!" Alpha grinned as the winner was announced. As disappointed as she was that she hadn't won the first round, she couldn't help but feel a tinge of happiness that the winner was Temperance. Now, that was a name she hadn't heard in a long while! She wanted to go and give the lady a shake of her hand (and maybe a punch on the shoulder) but decided against it as the next round was announced. She hopped on her feet, barely keeping herself from jumping onto the podium immediately. "Gah! This is so fun!" she exclaimed, tossing Ivan a goofy smile. "You better do the Alphabet Chocolate Dojo proud, young cricket! You and me! We're gonna win this!" With a snap of her fingers, strands of confetti began to burst above her head, slowly drifting to the floor before vanishing in plumes of colorful smoke. "Here we go! Alphabet Chocolate, attempt numero dos~!" her voice was loud, distinct, and every syllable seemed to radiate a sense of excitement and glee. And then she launched herself from the platform, head-first, straight towards the Prinny. "If at first a fist doesn't succeed, use your head!" Alpha cackled as her skull made contact with the stuffed penguin, sending it up into the air. Thrown die: 64 + [25, expert Acrobat]
Prinny Launch Attempt ...Well, it seems that people simply had more skill than him. Nothing could be done about that- this place was full of people with so much experience. Really, they were amazing! Headwind probably needed a rest. The stag had just been lazy where he was since he had launched the prinny. It may have actually been kind of inconvenient for other competitors, but everyone else just seemed to be doing fine anyway, so... Anyway, time to do some work himself. Activating a spell ring, Haru writes in the air an equation in brilliant green light. Letting it sink into the sand, weeds burst forth, snaring around his arm. The magic reinforces his rather minimal muscle with green fibre, allowing Haru to chuck the prinny fairly hard. Thrown die: 64 + [Naturamancy/+10] + [5]
Prinny Launch Attempt A bag of jewels or some such trinkets? Neat... She had absolutely no idea what they may be worth, if anything. In the worst of scenarios she deigned to make a gaudy bauble to show off to people, to give herself an excuse to brag about how well she threw a bird at a bull's-eye. It was an interesting distraction after all the chaos recently, that was for sure. She had spotted some familiar and friendly faces in the crowd, and waited to engage them before throwing again. She waited beside some crates until the proper person was nearby, her Incognito hopefully blending her into the crowd so that she could surprise the firebrand. Hopping down off of some crates, she bumped @Freja Sitka in the side with a hip, grinning as she popped a sweet into her mouth. "Come to punish projectile penguins and perhaps procure precious prizes?" she asked, amazingly not slipping on the words. But she'd just sat around and had time to practice, and obviously had done so. Not that she'd admit to it. "I won the last time... it was pretty nifty. I got a bag of geodes. I'm thinking of throwing them at rich people later. Wanna join?" She paused, to allow her companion to react, and then stepped forward as the line to contest continued to move. It didn't take long to make it to the throwing line again, and Temperance hefted another small bird up, testing its weight. This time she'd handle it as a practiced juggler ought, and put her acrobatics to use. Even if it wasn't the greatest of skills, her luck had run out. "Show me da wae," she whispered into the Prinny's head-space where ears ought to have been, and then tossed him at the target underhanded, as if pitching to a child. Rather than saluting the prinny this time, she stuck out her tongue at it and pulled down on her cheeks so that her eyes would droop, then turned to scare a kid. Truly a hero. Thrown die: 28 + [Acrobat / 15 (proficient)]
Prinny Launch Attempt "Hmm?" Even before Iván could turn around to make sure the voice that sounded like it came from Alphabet Chocolate indeed came from Alphabet Chocolate, he was caught unprepared by his mentor’s pretty strong palm crashing against his pretty unprepared back. His goggles moved mere inches away from his eyes but Iván caught it quickly, not wanting to reveal too much of himself. Mystery has power, he always says, mostly to himself when he was alone. "It’s you," Iván turned to Alpha, sighing. "I couldn’t win. Maybe this round." Iván watched as Alpha took her turn, narrowing his eyes when she did the unexpected and rammed her skull against the massive penguin. Was it unexpected? Maybe for everyone who didn’t know Alpha, that was true, but Iván had the pleasure of knowing her firsthand, and through that knowledge was full aware that the master illusionist was unexpected personified. "Is she going to share her winnings with me if she won?" That thought survived only a few seconds before he realized that it would be quite improbable. While waiting for his turn, Iván observed the other competitors, noting Aalam, Haru, Janet, and Eryl as familiar faces. Well, as familiar as any face would be to Iván and vice versa. Iván was never the intimate kind of friend, preferring to take to everyone who wasn’t a stranger as an associate at most. He didn’t need to dwell on those thoughts for a long time, as his turn finally came after the girl with the white hair. He quietly walked up to the plate, staring at the penguin, one hand on the handle of his hammer. "Hello," Iván deadpanned before swinging hard yet again at the penguin. Thrown die: 26 + [5, Novice Bludgeon]
Prinny Launch AttemptShe looked around her, squinting one eye as she realized everyone seemed to be taking different tactics this round. Destiny was all about that 'til she remembered she didn't have a single damn trick up her sleeve besides her subpar weapon. "Boo! Boring!" Crane called from the crowd as she stepped up to bat and struck the same pose as before, falling to one knee and carefully priming the bolt. "Aw, shut up!" she called back, measuring the distance between Prinny and the goal with an open palm. She was pretty sure she knew half this damn circus from Reclamation, so she had to focus on not looking like an absolute fool. Arright... if she could just catch the arrowhead on the thing's manufacturer tag, she could use some claw-game-physics to get a couple extra yards. Maybe. As she loosed the bolt, she coulda swore she heard ticking. Huh. Thrown die: 26 +20 [Trained Range + Common Weapon]
Prinny Launch AttemptWhile the white-haired woman who'd won the first round collected her prize, Janet stood up again and made her way down to the main stage where the rest of the competitors waited, swallowing nervously. Stop that. There's nothing to worry about, she thought. There had been some hilarious mis-throws of the penguin already that the audience had positively howled at, and that was by clearly trained warriors. Even if they laughed at her... well, what did she care what they thought? At least Ivan and Haru were here-- they too had become quite skilled. The brunette could only hope she could compete at least a little with their performances. Janet lifted her head high and waited for her turn, hands on her hips. When it came time, she looked down at the stuffed animal. "Prinny" seemed much taller in person than he'd seemed from up in the stands, but as she picked him up and easily hefted his weight, she decided she could handle it. "Hah!" she cried as she planted her feet, cocked back her arm, and hurled the bird with all her strength (some audience members would later say she quote "threw like a girl" but none of that now.) The moment she let fly, she wished she'd done something more sophisticated (like Haru's nature magic) but at least the sight of a teenage girl attempting to shotput-throw a stuffed penguin was a hit with the crowd. Thrown die: 42 +0 Beginner (Heroic Might)
Prinny Launch Attempt Whump~ Celestine had flown pretty far along with Prinny, but not as far as she’d hoped. Maybe she’d weighed it down a little too much, in hind sight. Flipping around, she scanned the crowd for the source of that heckling, as if she didn’t already know... @Grand Witch Majolica ... "H-hey!" Cel glared back, hands on her hips. "Can you not do me a distract maybe? It is... uuummm... distracting! I guess." Granted she never would’ve made the shot anyway, but it helped to have someone to blame. Cel watched as several others took their turn, most of them fairing better than she had. The one had such pinpoint accuracy it was honestly scary. "I need to be doing an upping of my game..." Rubbing her hands together eagerly, Celestine took her place on stage again, carefully glancing over Prinny. She licked her finger to test the wind. She breathed in to calm her nerves. She shuffled ever so slightly to the left. ...before realizing she didn’t really care about the target. It was whatever. Prizes were cool and all, but she was here to make Prinny fly like the freedom bird of Burgerland! This was it! Full power! Whipping her grimoire open once again, Celestine began to channel another spell, causing a ball of air to compress in front of her open palm. "Let your wish of Eagle do itself a complete as you do a majestic fly! AAAAAIIIIIRRRRRR CANNON~! Thrown die: 84 +50 [Expert/Rare]
Prinny Launch Attempt Velka watched as the Prinny soared through the air and right past the target's center. A bit too far then. Unfortunate considering it was an absolutely masterful strike, shame that it was wasted on something like this. She always had a problem with things that required a more gentle touch, it just wasn't in her instinct. The toy was a lot lighter than she expected, what kind of material was it made of? Regardless, she had another shot at the contest. With this knowledge in mind, she tried again. This time, she would hit it slightly off center. Adjusting the board a bit to hopefully straighten the trajectory, she lined up the shot once more and let loose another hit. Thrown die: 59 + [Mastered Pierce/35] + [Great Weapon/20]
Prinny Launch Attempt _____Kaede blinked slowly as she watched person after person toss the poor creature into the air. Even if it was ok with such things she still felt bad for it. Walking over slowly as her eyes flickered to darker color and she looked to the air reading something others could not fully see. Moving her focus back down before her eyes changed color to the normal and she picked up the creature up and got ready to throw it carefully. ”Sorry for this little fellow, you might want to fly but this, I still see as rude to do.” _____Spinning slowly to gain some momentum before she pulled her arm back and tossed the object in her hands as far as she felt was needed. It was still tricky to read things when needed, however she felt confident this would be just enough to match what she saw and needed to achieve this event. Thrown die: 17 + [Astral magic/15] + [N/A]
Prinny Launch Attempt When Temperance had managed to land her shot right on the bullseye, Emerath was more than a little impressed. She had shown enough skill, with perhaps a dash of luck, in order to make the penguin fly just like an eagle. It was something to aspire to. So Emerath set up again, after others had taken their turns. It didn't seem like there was such a clear winner for this attempt, and so Emerath had some hope. He had undershot the penguin last time, so he had to think about this scientifically. He had to hit it with a little more strength, just enough to get it to the desired destination. Just enough to turn this penguin into an eagle. No time for overthinking. Emerath squared up again, and delivered a controlled punch to the bird, and watched it sail. Thrown die: 87 + 15 [Martial Arts] + 10 [Iron Knuckles]
Prinny Launch Attempt It appeared that Ashnor had arrived a bit late to this event, and the first round had already come and gone. He figured that it didn't matter when he came in though, so walking up to the podium where Prinny the stuffed penguin stood, he reached behind him for the huge hammer that was slung across his back. Holding the Warhammer in front of him like some sort of giant baseball bat, Ashnor brought it slowly back, winding up his swing at the poor little stuffed bird. "Sorry buddy, but I'm sure you understand, right?" he muttered before bringing his hammer back and striking the penguin on the back. hopefully, this would launch Prinny where Ashnor wanted him to go Thrown die: 70 + [Bludgeoning / + 15] + [Warhammer / + 10]
