It was a job given to them by the Aristocracy, one that reeked of the handiwork necessary to complete a task by any means necessary. They were here to work out a dispute in the market of Druuk Island. The place even just sounded shady. Like a bandit cove or a pirates den. Given how things had gone with the Bandit King assignment, Endilix had a sour taste in his mouth for taking more Aristocracy contracts, but he had to get back into good graces with these people somehow. So, he looked to Portia, a woman he had met on the Bandit King assignment, and a grin graced his features. "Seems simple enough, right?" he asked, holding the scrap of parchment out in front of him, "Find this Lars fellow, get him to point us at the mark, and then we take him out." Endilix didn't really feel any remorse for this sort of action. At the end of the day, it was all business, and if they weren't here to do it, someone else would. May as well take the pay while he could, right? "I guess the only question is, should we do it publicly, or should we do it quietly? We could just smash up the place. Could be a good bit of fun. Unless you prefer the stealthy approach? Admittedly, that isn't my strong suit," he motioned to his heavy armor and giant shield strapped to his back, "but we might be able to make it work. I can make a good distraction while you eliminate the target." The ship they were on to the island rocked gently. He could see the docks that were their destination growing quickly a short distance from them. "Your thoughts?" he asked, the smirk not fading as he held onto the banister that was all that stood between them and the sea. @Portia Ahrens
For the days that followed their encounter with Zeus and what had transpired in the tunnels, Portia had chosen to remain doubtful of the people around her and what their hidden agendas might entail. Not enough to become fully paranoid when it came to social interaction, however. Enough proof of this statement alone was the fact she partnered with Endilix for yet another mission, a pleasant smile plastered across her face at the thought of having someone she recognized joining in the fun. ''I say...'' No sooner had her sentence begun flowing, she moved in closer and snatched the piece of parchment out of the ginger's hands, sticking out her bottom lip as she gave it a closer look. ''We tried the stealthy way and it went to hell before it even started. If things are going down, I would like for us to be upfront about it. On the plus side, it sounds like easy fun compared to that fiasco with the bandits and all.'' She gave him a shrug before she returned the paper to its owner, content with what little she had seen. Unlike his shield and hammer, the only means of combat she currently possessed were her fists since her magical abilities were at the lowest point possible, rendering all attempts at casting a single spell a laughable thing to witness. Looking on the bright side, it proved a suitable set of skills if they chose to go with a more cautious approach, an advantage which she'd have to forget about given how they both agreed on what to do: reach their destination and... destroy the place. ''How much can we expect him to pay us, anyway? If he was running out of business and everything... I wouldn't get my hopes up.'' As much as the words tasted sour in her mouth, she chose to laugh it off instead. He had asked for her thoughts on the task, and he would have them, negative as they might be.
As Endilix listened to the woman, not even the slightest bit of surprise as she snatched the paper and returned it to him, before he pocketed it. No sense in keeping her from seeing the quest anyway. It wasn't like it was a secret between them. And so the plan was set, destroy the market opponent, publicly shaming him into going out of business. As the boat pulled into the dock, Endilix was glad that he had been paired up with Portia. She was new-ish to the game, much like him, and she had been a part of the Bandit King raid. She was also easy on the eyes, and that certainly helped. Perhaps he'd try a few lines and see how it went when this was all over. He could use the companionship in more ways than one. But that was neither here nor there, as he lead the way to the coordinates given to Lars' stall. It looked absolutely run down, as much of this island town did. "This place must be the seedy barnacled backside of the underworld," Endilix muttered as he looked over the stall and its surrounding neighbors. The man, presumably Lars, shouted about fish for sale. They didn't look particularly appetizing to Endilix, and that wasn't a good thing, considering his Vocations were fishing and cooking. It was no wonder this man was going out of business. "You know, if I'm being honest, I think this man needs to learn how to get better stock, or fish for it himself. These fish look... disgusting," he muttered to Portia, but didn't let that stop him. They had a job to do. "Come on," he urged, as he walked up to Lars, giving the man his best fake smile. "Lars, I take it?" Endilix asked, before the man confirmed and Endilix took his hand in a firm shake with his metal glove. "A pleasure. Now, we're the people sent to take out your competition," Endilix said as the man held up a fish that appeared to be half rotten. "No, no fish, just point us where to go," Endilix explained, as Lars put down the fish and pointed off at a stall that appeared, well, absolutely extravagant. As Endilix turned to look at the competition, he folded his arms across his chest, "Well, I think I'm starting to get a clear picture of what this is all about. Shall we?"
