  3. The peaceful quiet of Brisshal hills is suddenly shattered with a single shout. A shout from the Silver eyed Felis known as Cherish, as she charged at one of the wolves around her, swinging her axe in a desperate attempt to hit it. While it did hit, the attack was only a glancing blow on the wolf’s hindquarters and caused only a minor flesh wound. The wolf she was currently engaged in, on the other hand, tried to take a lunge of its own at her, but due to Cherish's quick reflexes, was able to dodge out of the way of its jaws.

The wolf backed off after its failed attack, returning to the relative safety of its pack leader's side. This really wasn't the best situation, and Cherish certainly knew that. She was outnumbered 5 - 1 in this fight against this pack, 6 - 1 if you counted the huge dire wolf as two wolves. I'm really going to need some help here if this fight keeps on like this, she thought as she stared down the Dire Wolf in front of her, her silver eyes against it's bright yellow ones. Cherish stood her ground as it menacingly moved towards her. The Felis had already taken some hits prior, and her coat was ripped in a few places where scratch marks could be seen.

  6. The young woman was woefully outnumbered. That was the first thing that Magdalyn noticed as she caught sight of the commotion. She was still at a distance, unable to make out specifics, but it was easy to make out the one player, and the five wolves. One, Mags realized immediately, was enormous, nearly rivaling the player in size. It was one hell of an image, akin to a dramatic scene in some high-action anime.

Another player might have walked on by, continuing with their business. Magdalyn, for example, had been looking forward to spending the afternoon riding her horse. But something about the scene made Mags uncomfortable, and after only a moment of hesitation, she was jogging toward the action.

Upon arrival, she was thankful that she had made the decision she did. The girl was already run ragged, her face a fragile mixture of determination and exhaustion. Her coat was torn, most likely beneath the claws of the circling wolves. And as she squared off with the dire wolf, Mags felt her heart plummet.

"Hey," she called out, standing a short distance away. "Can I help?" It was more polite to ask, she figured. There were some players who would be angered by someone else swooping in during combat, but something told Mags that this girl was an exception. And deep down, she knew she would step in to save the girl if the situation grew too dire, regardless of the answer.

  9. Cherish hears someone speaking from behind her - a female it sounded like - and they asked if she needed some help. I suppose I could spare few wolves for this person. She turns her head over towards where the voice was. "Umm, if you want, I suppose? Try not to kill them all, if you can just get two of the smaller ones, that should be fi-AHHH!!" The rest of what Cherish was going to say is cut short as a different wolf takes the opportunity of her being distracted to try and attack. Luckily Cherish was still paying a little attention to the enemies, and was able to move out of the way before it got to her.

Cherish lashes back out at this new wolf and hits it square in its flank, a large wound now able to be seen as she pulled the axe out of the wolf's side. Cherish stepped back, and a grin appeared on her face as she watched the wolf make a few stumbling paces before it collapsed onto the ground, blood beginning to flow from the wound in its side. "One down, four to go!" Cherish yelled, a bit to loud and excited for for the current situation.

  12. Try not to kill them all?

Magdalyn studied the felis for a moment, her expression puzzled. Perhaps she had phrased her question incorrectly. It would have been more appropriate to ask if the girl needed help, she decided. Asking to help gave off the impression that Mags could find no wolves of her own, and was forced to snipe kills from a stranger.

That wasn't what I meant, she thought dryly, but said nothing. As she watched, the other player landed a successful attack, leaving one of the beasts dying on the ground. The site wrenched at her gut, and Mags had to fight the urge to race over and end the wolf's suffering. "Just a game," she whispered under her breath, sounding to anyone who overheard like a breathy sigh. Besides, the girl was so proud of herself and her accomplishment that she could only be a new player. No use discouraging them.

So the blue-haired woman freed her spear, giving it an absent twirl as she surveyed the situation. Four remaining, one of which was the massive dire wolf. Were she to dive in and take that, it would absolutely appear as if she was diving for the prize. So instead, she moved in to aggro one of the smaller wolves. It sneered at her, trotting closer, drawn away from the rest of its pack. When Mags was certain she had carved enough space between it and the lower level player, she struck. The well-placed attack ended the wolf's life immediately.

    "Three to go," she stated.

  15. While Cherish wasn't given an actual verbal response from the woman, what she heard behind her was confirmation enough. The sounds of feet moving and metal on leather. out of the corner of her eye, Cherish watched as the blue-haired female lured away one of the normal size wolves, careful not to let her guard down. In one swift movement, the woman had taken down a creature that it might take Cherish a few good hits on to bring down.

Cherish hadn't noticed that one of the wolves had been flanking her a bit until it was leaping at her. Not having enough time to react to the new threat, she instead - in a futile attempt to stop the wolf - tries to shield herself with her arms. This - being futile - fail horribly and the wolf knocks Cherish to the ground with it on top of her. She begins struggling to get the wolf off of her as it lashes out with its fangs and claws and ripping up her jacket even more than it was before. "Get the fuck off of me!" She swings her axe as hard as she can at the wolf's head, one of her arms still trying to push it away. The butt of the axe hit's the wolf's head and it is stunned for a moment, shaking its head for a few seconds. those few seconds are all Cherish needs to escape from underneath the wold, giving it a quick kick on the way out.

Standing back up, one might notice that Cherish's jacket and the shirt underneath it have a few more holes in them, with some blood seeping out through the bites and scratch marks on Cherish and her face.

  18. The other girl was being run ragged, struggling against monsters that Magdalyn could sweep away in a heartbeat. The urge to do so still nagged at her, but she resisted, keeping a short distance away. Luring the wolves away meant that she was still performing crowd control, but not pressuring the other player either. This allowed the other player to practice, and earn experience, without being hindered. If Mags defeated everything, how would the girl grow?

But the scratches across the player’s face were unnerving, and blood was beginning to stain her clothes. It made Mags wince, and before she knew what she was doing, she was slipping her spear back into its straps on her back. Both hands shoved back her blue hair, clearing it from her face, and allowing her to focus. Then, those hands were extended in front of her, palms toward the fighting girl. She narrowed her eyes, and her lips began to move soundlessly as she mouthed the spell. Her fingers shimmered a faint green color, matching the grass under her boots. Then, she watched her companion’s health bar fill just a bit.

“Just a boost,” she called out. “Should help you keep going.” And, if Mags guessed correctly, give her a burst of energy too. Whatever she could do to help the girl find success.

    Heals Cherish for 20 HP.

  21. A strange, warm feeling moves throughout Cherish's body as she stands up. As the other person's hands glow, cherish realizes she must be casting some sort of healing spell. IT was doing some good work, too, closing up most of the bigger gashes across her body, but not all of them. Turning back to the girl, Cherish smiles at her before shouting a quick, "Thank you." to her and turning her attention back to fight.

At the moment, there was still the wolf cherish had just knocked off of her - still recovering from the hit that had stunned it - along with another of the normal sized wolves, and finally the huge dire wolf. For some reason, the dire wolf had stayed back and out of the fight from the start, but who knew how long that would last?

Right now, it made the most sense to Cherish for her to finish off the wolf she had just stunned, while it was still recovering. And that's exactly what she decided she would do. Cherish moves quickly towards the wolf, and before it even has time to react, she raises her ax up and brings it down right onto its neck. The wolf is killed almost instantly as the ax cleaves through its spinal cord. The wolf falls to the ground in a heap, lifeless.

It appeared the Dire wolf had had enough of standing idly by while its pack members were slaughtered. Turning towards the blue-haired fighter, the wolf snarled at her as it approached her. Its lumbering figure was quite an intimidating sight as it approached. Perhaps the large wolf figured taking out the stronger enemy would leave it with an easier foe to finish up with.

  24. The site of a giant wolf rounding on a person is enough to spark fear, or at the very least, concern. For Magdalyn, however, it was relief that blossomed in her chest as the Dire Wolf shifted its gaze. She would much rather entertain the beast herself, than allow Cherish to go after it. Regardless of what she told herself about "learning the hard way," the last thing that she really wanted to do was watch the already ragged girl struggle with a too-powerful enemy. That would be literally throwing her to the wolves, and in truth, Mags was no fan of that. She had learned with the help of others, each caring individuals who never would have dropped her in an impossible situation with no more than a few well-wishes. Mags was not about to do that here, either.

So she squared her shoulders, and mechanically swung her spear in her hand as she dropped into her ready position. "Come on," she taunted under her breath. It is me you want, not here. I'll give you more of a challenge. What is there to gain from slaughtering a new player, anyway?

Either the Dire Wolf understood her words, or it was simply programmed to pounce. But when it did, Magdalyn was ready. Her foot turned in the long, dry grass, shifting to propel her forward. It was insanity, running head-long toward an enraged Dire Wolf, but she could handle it. Besides, she had another player to protect. And Mags, and Lena, were both the protecting sort.

The wolf's maw was twisted in a snarl (or was that a sneer?), and it showed no mercy as it ate up the space between them. Mags did her own part to close the gap, footfalls striking the earth with power muffled only by the vegetation. It was with a practiced motion that she halted, crouched, and exploded upward with all of her stored momentum. The spear rammed up, and into the wolf's neck, dropping it immediately.

Her stomach rolled, as it always did when she took a life. Mags tore her spear free, and did her best to fight the creeping remorse. It was a game, she knew, but she still hated this part.

  27. "Heeeey!!! That's no fair, I was going to go after that one!"
Cherish shouted at the blue haired woman as she killed the Dire Wolf instantly. A pout appear on her face as she watched; she wouldn't have really cared if the woman had just done what she suggested and just helped with 2 of the smaller ones. But noooo, she has to attract the big wolf's attention instead of doing what I suggested. Now bored with fight due to the big enemy being dead, Cherish turns back towards the last remaining wolf. As she began to close the distance between them, the wolf must have realized it it was totally outmatched, because it backed away as she approached. Turning around quickly, the wolf flees, and the battle is over.

Cherish sighed, her ears turning so that they faced backwards. After a few seconds, Cherish turns and approaches the woman. As the distance between them closed, Magdalyn would be able to notice the swishing of her tail.
Cherish doesn't say anything when she reaches her, she just stands there with a slightly irritated (and cute) expression.

  28. Magdalyn drew in a deep breath. She imagined the air moving to her lungs, inflating them, calming her. She imagined her knotted muscles easing, and her balled fists relaxing. But the visions did nothing, and she remained just as angry as she had been.

"You wanted me to ignore the massive wolf charging me, and focus on the little ones, because you said so?" When she spoke, the words were even drier than she had anticipated. Perhaps she was more annoyed than she had originally realized.

She put her hands in the air, palms out, the universal gesture of surrender. "But fine," she countered, "that's fine. You can have the big one next time. In fact, you can have them all."

Did she mean that? Would she be willing to leave the girl to her own defenses? At the moment, yeah, she would have. Its a game, remember? Mags reminded herself. If Cherish dies, she will simply respawn elsewhere. And maybe that will teach her a lesson.

Years of teaching teenagers made the woman immune to the trademark pout, so she simply stared down her nose at the girl. "Good luck with the rest of your hunt."

  29. As the woman told Cherish off for what she said, her tail stops it's slow back and forth movement and instead hangs down, a small portion touching the ground. "Hey, don't go! I didn't mean it like that!" Cherish looks down at her feet while she kicks so dirt. "I didn't mean to get you angry or anything, I guess I just got caught up in the moment." It's not like I hate her or anything, and I certainly wouldn't want her to be killed just because of something I suggested. This woman had come to her rescue, healed her wounds and helped her defeat her foes.

Cherish's face rotated quickly from the ground to the tall woman's own head, her expression much different than what it had last been. "I don't even know your name! What you did was a really nice thing to do, helping me out even when you didn't know who I was. Even if it was kinda obvious that it was my fault I bit off more than I could chew." As she says the words, the volume at which she speaks begins to decrease, and the last few words are hard to distinguish. Sighing as she finishes what the said, her next words are a lot peppier, and she even does a little bit of a hop as she speaks. "Anyways, my name's Cherish, and I really hope you can forgive me so that we can go do something else together." Cherish lets out a small giggle as she waits for the woman to respond. I really hope we can do more stuff, she seems pretty interesting.

  30. The woman studied the girl for a long moment, an expectant silence falling between them. Magdalyn's amber eyes searched the other player's for a moment, reading them, and her face, for signs of deceit. She had always had a knack for picking up on easily overlooked cues, and determining if someone was lying was a skill she had honed as a teacher. Was the girl simply trying to feign innocence, and pretend to be sorry, to stay on Mags' good side?

But she seemed genuine enough in her apology, so Mags' shoulders rose and fell as she heaved a sigh. "My name is Magdalyn, but most people call me Mags." It was her typical introduction, a routine she had practiced time and time again. "It's nice to meet you, Cherish."

You should not have been so careless, taking on so many wolves by yourself. You should not have been so quick to dismiss my help, and quicker to flay me for helping. You should not have treated me like an inferior player when I am clearly far more experienced. You should not have taken my offer and throw it back in my face, and -

But she stopped herself. Was there any use in further scolding, and in doing so, further upsetting the girl? It was just a game after all - it was not as if death really meant anything here. Why was that so hard for her to remember? And besides, Mags was just another player in the game of Terrasphere. She was not Cherish's teacher, nor did she have any right to lecture the girl on ethics. So she merely offered a thin, tight-lipped smile. Of course, the humor did not reach her eyes.

"Can I trust you not to rip my head off next time I try to help, then?"

  31. As Cherish waited through the awkward silence for the other to either accept or deny the apology, she saw as the woman's brown eyes searched her, looking for any kind of flaw. Not like there were any flaws in what she was saying, she had been genuine. The silence is broken then, as she speaks her own name to Cherish. Her tail raises up quickly as the woman - who she now knows is Magdalyn - seems to begrudgingly accept her apology. moving towards Mags quickly, she wraps her arms around the taller woman in a hug, her own head just fitting below the human's chin. "It's nice to meet you too, Mags." Cherish moves closer to Magdalyn's body, tightening her hug.

Cherish giggles at Magdalyn's question and proceeds to answer in a lighthearted and joking way, "I'd never do something so absurd! What do you think I am, some sort of animal?" Still hugging Mags, Cherish wiggles her ears as she continues to giggle. Being as how they are fairly furry, the sensation of them rubbing against a person's neck and chin would be rather enjoyable for anyone who was susceptible to tickling. "Although, I have heard that red goes pretty well with blue..."

Nearly as quick as the hug started, Cherish pulls away from the woman's chest, her cat ears once again rubbing against Magdalyn's cheeks. "Just kidding! We wouldn't want to ruin that pretty blue hair of yours. That doesn't matter right now anyway though, what matters is what we're going to do now! Let's go do something fun, together!" Cherish grinned at Mags, not backing down while she waited for a response. After what she had said earlier, Cherish really wanted to make it up to her.

  32. Magdalyn’s head was reeling. This girl was impossible to keep up with, her moods changing faster than the weather, and with even less warning. She shifted so seamlessly from angry, to reserved, to bubbly, and Mags found herself briefly questioning Cherish’s sincerity again. Was the behavior really genuine? Or was she playing up a character? This is a game, Magdalyn reminded herself. She definitely could be adopting a certain persona, and that was her prerogative.

“I’m not sure what you would consider fun,” the woman told the felis. “I’m not really looking for more combat.” And our last encounter did not go so well. “But I know there’s a small farm over there.” She motioned with her head, sending her blue hair cascading over her shoulder. “They always have little odds and ends quests. Picking vegetables, feeding animals, that sort of thing. Not much in the way of rewards, but it is repeatable, and I find the work satisfying.” Both hands found the smaller girl’s shoulders, and she eased Cherish away from her in what she hoped was a polite please-remember-personal-space gesture. As sweet as the other player was, the sensation of her ears on Mags’ cheeks was going to take some getting used to.

“If you’re up for it, we can make our way over there. Maybe you can tell me about yourself?” It was an innocent enough question, and one that just about anyone could answer. Besides, maybe it would help her get a feel for who this girl really was.

  33. Cherish gave no resistance as she was pushed to a comfortable distance away from mags. Instead, she looked up at Magdalyn with confusion in her eyes and her mouth slightly agape. Had she just heard that right? Picking vegetables and feeding animals?! That sounds less like fun and more like manual labor. Cherish shakes her head quickly back and forth "Are you serious? There's no way I'm going to do farm labor!" This was crazy. Completely insane. How could this woman ever think that Cherish would find 'Picking vegetables' fun?

Although, now that Cherish thought about it, there might actually be some non-manual tasks she could do at a farm. Some of them could even be fun. A grin returned to her face as her grey eyes met Magdalyn's Orange ones. "You know what, actually, we can go to that farm. Who knows, maybe they'll have pests of some kind or another." Cherish was certainly more excited than she had been only a minute ago.

Grabbing Magdalyn's hand for only a few seconds, Cherish gives her a tug, urging her to come along. "You want to know more about myself? Weeeell... It would really depend on who you're asking. Are you asking me-" Cherish gestures with her hand to her torso; the person within the game. "- or do you mean me?" This time, Cherish had put more emphasis on the word. Her hand had moved up from pointing at her torso and was now gesturing at her head. To her brain; the person outside of the game.
