    Dawn of Preparation

Astorea's people were slowly becoming more and more overcome by a growing panic. The dark monstrosity Titanius was going to devour them all. None of the investigators were even close to dealing with the unknown beast on their own. Thankfully a serious gathering was called forth. The noble that governed the west of Astorea. Duke @Roland Rutledge had been given the task by King @Astor Balthas to bring together all those needed for the coming battle. He was also tasked with greeting and working with the still mysterious Tertorian Kingdom beyond the Naryu Canyon.

    The day has arrived.

    Flanst

imageA great carriage with the emblem of Flanst upon the dressage of it's horses, approached the castle of Routledge. She came accompanied with a entire squad of fully geared men in red armor and varying weapons. Getting off her carriage with her usual haughty demeanor. One would see that she was still as elegantly dressed as ever in her red dress that likely cost more than the the current budget of Roland's Duchy.

Something like a Eldritch abomination would not be enough to stop her from being fabulous! Of course right by her side in his usual attire with his bow and quiver to his back was Maximilian Faulkner, her most liked general.

Once again, I have graced this land with my presence. Hohohoho! Why do they not properly ever great me? I should be getting rose petals at my feet already! Did they not appreciate my generosity?

...Well. My Lady, not everyone shares your incredibly warm heart. On a brighter note. I must say I am overjoyed to be here again. I enlisted to fulfill the purpose given to me at birth but... I have always wanted to be a adventurer and see the out lands!

Of course you want more than you can have Faulkner, that's normal for the lower class. You have everything you need with me so get over it. Now, as for the task at hand.

I am the one and only Exquisite Lady Flanst! The one who so graciously gave your little kingdom a lifeline. I am here as the contract stated to discuss the monster that is terrorizing your land and for the longest time was bothering mine as well. Let us get this over and done with!

    Krelian

image The strangest looking object was spotted in Astorea's western borders. Being called a URO, or Unidentified Rolling Object. The strange contraption was shaped like a wheel one would see on a wagon, but it was made of steel! It moved by rolling along the ground propelled by some unknown force Written along the side was the name, Vayne Mechanics. The entire object had a strange aura to it as if it was haunted.

The object made it's way near Roland's castle however would not come too close. Rather the center of the wheel's hatch opened to one side. And a set of stairs glided down. until they hit the grass. A strange looking girl in blue exited first. Making a shrug of indifference she looked within and made a over exaggerated bowing gesture to exit.

Arrived we have. The Krelian will find this much of the suffice? Krelian of the Lord, Krelian of the missus. Much talking with the ignorant awaits.

A taller luxurious and buxom woman with shockingly saturated green hair exited.

Excellent Livie. Now shut your mouth and get my things. We might be here 'for awhile and I am going to need to refresh myself regualrly in this underdeveloped land.

Dear... I certainly hope this is worth all the trouble. I have never come out here and I am happy with our home. I do not seek to see things that are irrelevant.

Hahahaha. My Queen you should not be so stressed. I brought you so you could grow from the experience. This is indeed of utmost importance. I will also gain quite a bit of standings with both Tertus Ellania and these Astoreans if my plan succeeds. Although... I do enjoy being labeled a black sheep.

Be sure to tell my soldiers to remain unseen until needed. I do not want to frighten our new friends with that which they may not understand.

The two strolled off arm in arm while Livie made a face behind them. Turning to the wheel, she made a funny gesture with her arms and the wheel vanished from sight. She turned and quickly ran after them with a large bag dragging behind her.

    Tertus Ellania

image A single female in a extraordinary armor rode right up to the gates of the castle. The white horse she rode was larger than a warhorse and had flaring black main and a intense gaze. The young woman herself had on her back a sword that was nearly as long as she was tall. A glowing swirling sphere set into it's hilt.

The closer she came. The more her body seemed to glow. Until her armor burst into a mass of white feathers and blew into the distance. Leaving behind a much less intimidating looking girl. She waved in a very casual way and offered a friendly smile to the guards. All that remained was her sword and steed.

    Heya!

How are you today? I'm from Tertoria. The Lady Saya? Hahaha... ahh. Like, uh... I don't really have any proof b ut my horse and sword are pretty well known maybe? So maybe Priscilla told you about them?

Dismounting from the white steed she patted his head softly.

Izanagi, these people are fine!? Like, go find a nice place to rest and I'll call you back later okay? Everything will work out, it always does.

The horse headed off as if it completely understood every word. Saya turned to the guards and placed her hands to her hips.

I haven't been out here in a long time! It has changed a lot! I hope to get a chance to explore but for now like, let's get to it shall we?

    Weiss

image For a short time. A bright white light shown over Roland's base. It was seen by many but none could identify the cause. It had gone as quickly as it had come. The feeling it gave off was otherworldy yet bathed in a purity not even the most devote of priests have emitted.

The guards outside the gates were having a small chat about the odd occurrence when they noticed a teenage girl standing beside them. She was pale with red eyes and silvery hair. Dressed in a purple jacket and skirt. She held her hands behind her and glanced at each them equally.

    Guten tag!

This must be the place! Hmmm... This is fine! We will be able to make the plans for the purifying of Titanius here. Wunderbar!

Land's that are not guided by the Goddess of Purpose and Fate. People who popped out of nowhere and come back even from death! Erfrischend! So much potential for greatness! I am excited!

The sheer presence of the girl even with her short stature and weak look was so intense the guards could only stutter for a moment. After they found their voices, Des Weiss would raise a hand and nod.

    Nein nein!

I'm Des Weiss. You can call me Des or Dessy if you'd like. Here, have a candy! Weiss Sticks are a great source of encouragement and energy!

She placed a thin sugar coated candy to each of them.

You may not know her but Ella is watching and counting on you to fulfill your purpose, today that is making sure this place is safe. Hmhm, that's not really necessary with me here to protect you in her name but you should work hard and stay vigilant for future endeavors!

Closing her red eyes and stroking her silvery hair in a hair flip that emitted white sparkles into the wind. She continued now somewhat more serious than earlier.

    Nun dann...

I would like to speak with your heroes. Those that you rely on most to protect you. They must be properly prepared for this. I want to see the light of their hearts before they face the dark.

  2. Area Great Hall

Roland sat at his drafting table with a grimace. The Tertorian representatives had come much quicker than he had anticipated, he had wanted to gather his fledgling house and address them one more time before heading to the political battle this would likely be, but he simply did not have the time. He'd have to settle for sending them to message instead, with a quick flick of his wrist he brought up his U.I. pounding out several short letters, he sent to his immediate followers. They were a bit shorter than he would have liked, but hopefully, they would understand.

    img
    Roland
    Dear @Comet

Your courage and assistance in many of my pursuits have not gone unnoticed. As of the moment you arrive at my manor you will be recognized as the new and only Viscountess in the Dutchy. You can feel free to choose any settlement or land you desire as your own, as long as it's within my borders.

    -Roland

    img
    Roland
    Dear @Aalam Abungu

Your loyalty and perseverance have not gone unnoticed, and while I know you are interested in titles, I am willing to offer you the title of Baron, as well as any property within reason. You can sell the title if you so wish, I will be willing to sign it over if need be.

    -Roland

    img
    Roland
    Dear @Alric Stalwart

Your steadfast beliefs and strong worth ethic have not gone unnoticed. It is why I believe you to be a perfect fit for the captain of my guard. The position will come with the title of Baron as well as permanent suite within guardhouse. If you accept it, you can pick up your equipment and official paperwork from the guardhouse when you arrive.

    -Roland

    img
    Roland
    Dear @Kanashimi

Though our time together was brief, I believe you have more to offer in the political sphere of Astorea of which I am sorely in need. As such I will grant you the title of Baroness as well as a stately property nearby the castle. If you are still interested, you can collect the paperwork from the maid in the entrance hall.

    -Roland

Just as he closed his UI, the door to his sitting room opened, as an elderly maid burst in with excessive exuberance. It was Agatha, the head maid, and the primary source of authority within the fort.

My lord! The guests have begun arriving! Who would think we'd be hosting so many actual nobles!? Hohoho, this is so exciting. I have instructed our staff to escort them to the Great Hall, where we have set the tables as you had requested..as unusual as it was.

Roland sighed as he stood, motioning Agatha towards his armor. In a fluid and trained movement, the two set to putting it on the Duke as he spoke in a sarcastic tone.

You're somewhat chipper Edna if I had realized your passion revolved around meeting royalty I would have taken a title from the King before I came here. That said, I'm happy to hear you have followed the bare minimum of my orders. So glad that, I'm going to give you another. After we are done here, head to the entrance hall. We are bound to attract those who are not nobility, player and otherwise who wish to attend. I don't want our meeting interrupted, but we can't afford to turn down those willing to join our cause. I will try and set up something less....formal.. after the initial talks are completed.

Agatha's eyes seemed to light up at the chance to extend her authority further, and for a moment Roland wondered if he had made a mistake, but it didn't matter. Time was something he was short on; he'd have to trust the cancerous woman to do the task. Instead, he returned his mind to the matter at hand, protecting Astorea...

A moment of silence passed as he equipped the last of his gear, before turning to Agatha and stating,

I'll need the name's of those entering the Great Hall, have someone announce each person as they enter...

Roland trailed off, not waiting for a response as he crossed the room heading down his flight of stairs, and into the Great Hall which stood empty besides the tables and chairs lining the room. He strode to the center, his armor creaking loudly as he did so, and arrived at the large map he had placed there earlier.

    “I wonder…if we even stand a chance…”

Rutledge Manor is an ancient outpost which was retrofitted into a manor several years before Roland's arrival. From a distance, the walls and moat it is surrounded by making an imposing site, however, upon closer inspection its age and lack of upkeep are apparent.

    Locations:

Outer Courtyard (Available to All) A rock-filled rolling plain, which is split into by a dirt road that leads to the massive gatehouse of Roland Manor. There is little to no guard presence here, but several keep an eye on incoming visitors from the gatehouse itself.

Gatehouse/Guard Rooms (Available to All*) The massive gatehouse contains the bridge that must be used to cross into the entrance hall. Currently, the bridge is down, and the chains that could raise it are presently rusted shut. Any are free to pass as they wish, but only the guards may enter the tower and walls themselves.

Entrance Hall (Available to All) The large entry room the gatehouse leads too. Currently, it is occupied by a small reception staff of maids and butlers. It has two sets of large double doors, the first of which serves as an entrance from the gate. Inside is a large passageway that allows a set of horses to proceed to the second set of doors. These doors lead into the Inner Courtyard but have multiple guards stations preventing easy entry. The guards have been instructed to only allow the following through: Teritoria Nobles/Entourage, Astorean Nobles/Entourage, Rutledge House members/staff. There is, however, an exception seen by a small sitting area on the side of the entrance hall. Here the head maid will meet with anyone who wishes to pass inward despite not being nobility. That said they must be very convincing.... (requires my OOC approval to be granted a special exception)

Inner Courtyard (Restricted to Nobility or Rutledge House Members) A large and open space featuring a surprisingly well-kept garden of freshly planted flowers. To the west is a small stable, as well as a variety of more mundane housing required for the manor to function. To the east was the entrance to the cellar, which is protected by a lone guard with orders to allow none to pass. There is a cobbled path, leading from the entrance hall directly to the Great Hall to the north.

Celler (None may enter besides Rutledge himself) It is unknown what projects Roland works on in the cellar, as none besides himself may enter.

Great Hall (Restricted to Nobility or Rutledge House Members) A large room about twice the size of the entrance hall. Unlike its counterpart, it is filled with a variety of mismatched tables and chairs which have been moved to form a large circle in the outer portion of the room. Each of the tables contained a set of dinnerware, which were being overseen by a handful of unprepared servants should any requests for food or wine be made. The main attraction was the large pedestal like table sitting in the center of the room, upon which a map of Astorea was on display. On each side of the hall were a series of doors most of which led to a separate set of stairs heading upwards. The eastern stairs would lead to the Guest chambers on the second floor, while the Northern stairs would lead to the Royal Chambers on the third.

Royal Chambers (Restricted Rutledge himself or Staff) Located on the third floor the contents of the Royal Chambers was unknown to most but contained the modern amenities one would expect, including a bedroom, sitting room, and personal lavatory.

Guest Chambers (Restricted to Nobility or Rutledge House Members) Located on the second floor there are four full guest chambers for use, each with their bedroom, and sitting rooms.

Servant Chambers (Restricted to Nobility or Rutledge House Members) Located on the second floor much like the guest chambers, the servant chambers can only be accessed by a separate stairwell within the great hall. The rooms are significantly smaller than the guest chambers and don't have any sitting rooms. However, they can and will be used for guests if the initial four are filled.

  3. Rat

    Rat

    Area Great Hall

The job was simple: there was no job. Only fun and games. At a party. A party without games.
    Monstrous.

But 'Duke' Roland Rimjob, as certain criminal elements Rat was unapologetically associated with liked to call him, was having some sort of soiree or get together pow wow for those that had sworn fealty to him, as well as certain political factions from another nation. And all of it had something to do with the world's most carnage prone calamari going on some sort of rampage? Word had spread about the important figures all heading out at once. All traveling the same direction. They had decided it was too dangerous a job for anybody to infiltrate such an event, and that was precisely why Rat was there. Because she was a fucking idiot.

But not without her clever moments, despite her handicap.

She traveled hard and fast, hoping to arrive before the others. Hoping to sneak in before whatever big event. Entering had been as simple as strolling up and asking to swear her fealty to the Duke, at which point she'd been directed to the entrance hall. But Rat had patted the helpful guard on the shoulder in thanks, earning a stiff warning not to touch him again or he'd run her through, guest or no. Nodding, she had begun towards the entrance hall... delaying long enough to find a secluded corner of darkness to morph into that self same guard she had touched.

It wasn't a perfect disguise. Doppleganger never was. But then, she didn't want to look exactly like him. Only just similar enough that she'd pass without notice as she calmly strolled into the fortress, acting as though she belonged and were on her rounds or had some place to be. A fussy old maid seemed to be preparing to handle things, and Rat put her Incognito to its full potential, trying to walk calmly past and avoid any notice. She hoped the old woman would be too busy preparing for others to care for a single possibly out of place guard... particularly when maids never even handled guard rotations, and that was more a duty of whatever captain commanded the men.

Approaching the Great Hall doors, Rat nudged them open ever so silently and slipped through, closing the door behind her as quietly as possible. She did not bother glancing about to see if she was noticed, but instead moved immediately to the right away from the doors, and started to climb, climb, climb. The disguise of a guard dropped, revealing a well dressed but dirt covered woman with bandages over one eye. She ascended in silence, clinging to the vaulted ceilings, using the slightest bit of geomancy to create hand and footholds to ease her climb. Once at the top, in a darkened corner where the lights did not touch, she made a small ledge and rested upon it, waiting, spying.

She had brought games to the party. The game was hide and seek.

  4. Area Great Hall

A carriage worth more than the entire duchy’s yearly budget.

A URO crafted by a Tinkerer who far surpassed the creations of the fledgling Lightning Ironworks.

A warrior queen whose otherworldly form changed in accordance to the regal sword she wielded.

A living saint who arrived in a burst of sunlight, scarlet eyes radiating with the fire of a thousand champions.

Such were the legends that had congregated within the halls of House Rutledge’s Manor, their entrances of such awe-inspiring magnitude that the guards of this backwater nation were stunned at both the splendor and the decadence. But the spectacle did not end there, for it was not only Tertorian nobles that had a taste for dramatic entrances. With chutzpah and purpose befitting a master-class adventurer, a white suited man with flowing midnight locks strode through the Outer Courtyards of the manor, each footfall the percussion of a symphony. Thick brows gave the impression of a stalwart soul, while a confident grin dispelled any concern that he may be an intruder here. An Astorean Noble? A Tertorian one? A vassal to Duke Rutledge? No matter who he was, poise alone carried him through the Courtyard and Entrance Hall unquestioned, until a set of guards stood before him, weapons not drawn but suspicion clear in their eyes.

“Halt,” the more senior of the two spoke, “State your address, sir.” No disrespect, but no reverence either. Perhaps it would have hurt, considering how much he had fought for this small, unstable country before, but Cain cared not. He didn’t need those memories. Just stories of the fallen.

With a smile and a flick of his voluminous hair, the flagbearer’s fingers grazed against the feathers of the two great beasts that he had felled, before replying, “I am Cain Darlite, Flagbearer of Miracles, Double-Blessed of Idna and Iedi, hunter-brethren of the former Viscountess Gwyn ap Herne, slayer of the Black Wolf of the Acedus Forest, and, most recently, investigator of the malignant monstrosity that lies within the Naryu Canyon. I have fought as the leader of the vanguard that paved the way for King Astor’s clash against the Mad King Theo, and have slain innumerable orcs alongside General Maximilian Faulkner of the Flanst family in order to aid the restoration efforts of Vintergard. In the face of such accomplishments, it should be as clear as daybreak that I deserve to be present in these talks, no?”

"Not my call to make, sir," the senior guard said, his head jerking in the direction of an elderly maid, "Duke Rutledge has requested that all who wished to enter despite being nobility must be approved by the Head Maid first. No exceptions."

"Understood. I'll see you two shortly then."

Before any of the guards could reply, Cain strode off, repeating an abridged variation of his adventurous boast. If there was a 'no', he'd try again. If there was a 'give me time to consider this', he'd demand an answer immediately. He had so little time for this, yes, but more importantly, he was done playing around.

This was what the shadow of his weakness had neglected, the core of his regrets. Somewhere along the way, he had lost his inhuman tenacity, his superhuman drive, his risk-taking, devil-may-care attitude, and had lost more pieces of himself in the process. No more. His hand reached for his throat, feeling the phantasmal noose that provided him with a myriad of other realities and seared against his desires if he single mindedly pursued any one route. But it didn’t burn now.

    Just smouldered.

Approval gotten, he walked off, past the guards.

With panache befitting of someone who knew exactly where he was, the midnight haired muse strode into the Great Hall, the soles of his feet clicking with the same ambience that was so simple, yet so satisfying. A nod and a smile was the acknowledgement he provided their gracious host, Roland Rutledge, before he pivoted towards more familiar faces.

“Maximilian Faulkner!” Cain strode up, offering the general a handshake, “It’s been far too long since I’ve last seen you. I trust that your return to Tertoria had not been as perilous as our journey to Vintergard?”

A quick exchange, just a warm up, before the elegant muse turned his attention to Lady Flanst. She WAS familiar, wasn’t she? That fashionable lady who showed up at the beach and instantly earned Aria’s ire? Hm…well, those people were nothing new either. To the fair lady, he offered a courtly bow, of deference, of reverence, but not of subservience.

“And you must be Lady Priscilla Flanst! I have heard much of you, but I must confess, those rumors do little justice to the elegance of your visage and the intelligence within your eyes. Please, allow me to introduce myself. I am Cain Darlite, a humble practitioner of songcraft and one who seeks to immortalize the glory of others through such craft. As one who has shed blood and lost comrades for this country’s independence, you have my gratitude for your generous support, Lady Flanst.”

It was all genuine, all true.

But there was still a spark in his dark eyes.

    He still stood tall.

Cain was here for a reason, after all.

_____So that event was coming soon, Kaede’s eyes flicking between pure black and her normal blue as her astral magic gave her insight on what was to come. Many times she did not partake in the dangerous events, but seeing the possible results that could come she figured this time around it was not time to sit on the side lines. Heels clicking the ground as she approached the location for the meeting that was a vital piece for what came. Her eyes remaining blue as she stopped her magic to not startle people, after all pure black eyeballs was a bad omen in just about every movie Kaede watched.

_____Her gaze moving upward, if she kept her magic running some chances resulted in getting attacked at this point, so not being a target thus far was a pleasant surprise. Without permission to go further Kaede simply stopped before the Gatehouse and relaxed she could try to get in any number of ways, simply ask to be allowed in, fight her way in, seduce her way in, blast her way in. But none felt fun for her at all, well most did not the seduce planned was tempting if a female guard approached her.

_____Then a uncommon idea struck Kaede, why enter normally when she had magic to add some real flare and give her better chance to be allowed further then most her visions showed her getting? While sure she could cause some damage to the area if she did not plan out her actions, the idea of having some fun outweighed the chance her entrance would be seen a dangerous. Moving back Kaede hummed happily before moving her arm to envision her landing and descent. A quick incantation before she likely got more attention.

_____Turning into her celestial form as cosmic magic flicked off her fingers, body kneeling down before she used a controlled blast and shot into the air. She would have enjoyed to feel the air rushing against her face some, but as her form began going down with gravity Kaede had to get ready for her landing. Body shifting carefully, only one chance with zero preperation or previous practice. Sadly it was not as easy as she thought it would be and the result she faced was almost enough to make her regret wasting energy to add some flare.

_____She had WANTED to land kneeling, fist against the ground and eyes locked on the meeting location like a real badass. BUT, that was no where close to what Kaede actually did. Her decent happen quicker then she would have liked, so her position ended up being face first into the top of the gatehouse. Her cosmic form fading as she sat up and rubbed her nose. Right about this time she assumed a guard or two would have weapons trained on her, so lifting her hands skyward as she sat overlooking the bridge Kaede sighed lightly.

    ”That… Went better in my head… seriously...better...ouch…”

A quite tall person in full armor was already in the Great Hall along with Des Weiss. Although he looked intimidating, with a ruined greatsword on his back and what looked like a scimitar on his belt, the coat of arms on the tabard that he wore symbolized that he was of the House Rutledge. But in spite of that menacing display, the sight of him licking a candy stick was very hilarious if he would be seen. He did not know that this person was a great noble somewhere in Terrasphere, as she was too unassuming as he saw her first outside the walls.

It happened only a couple of hours before, that the person was guarding the perimeter of the walls, as was his custom. He was tired of doing this grunt work again and again, but since he needed to pay off that ridiculous sum that the duke imposed on him, he could do nothing but to oblige. The duke was good on him though, as he acceded on every legality that he needed to obtain, and so he had every reason to stay here. But still this was hard.

As he was still patrolling, there were reports amongst the guards that they had seen a mysterious light from one side of the manor. Immediately he moved towards the direction of the light, but found no one. Sighing, he walked back to where he was supposed to guard, but he was met by other guards searching for the light. He was about to say that he did not see anything when a white-haired adolescent clothed in a purple jacket arrived, saying that she arrived at the place, and interspersed with some German words, described the players and their land. All right, this was odd enough, but when he heard of the word Titanius, he was about to say something when a candy stick was inserted through the hole of his helmet. As she said she wanted to speak with the heroes of the land, he remembered the message of the duke, and after removing the stick from the hole of the helmet and then licking it like a lollipop, he said, "All right, I will escort you to where you can see one of them." Little did he know that he just escorted Des Weiss to the Great Hall.

Seigi couldn't care less about the whole higher-ups meeting with a bunch of other nobles. Just because of social status. She was in fact, sick of it. Her father was like that. Sebastian was like that. A person was more than just social status or born into power! Kinda ironic she'd give her everything to have both of them annoy her again. Regardless, though, this was about fighting a Darkdeath Evilmonster! Too bad her advance was stopped in the Entrance Hall.

Maybe brute-force balls to the walls attempt? Guts and Effort. Even if Seigi wasn't aware how unprofessional and badly trained the guards and servant were, thanks to the courtesy of them getting fooled by a False Pretender or letting a Rat slip through, since her last death, the martial artist had wisened up. This wouldn't be without dire consequences. It wouldn't have been very heroic anyway.

No, Seigi would do this the right way. "Excuse me, miss!" Another spoken secret: The Head Maid being responsible for all the filth.

"I might not be nobility, but I AM a hero!" And, well, filthy rich. It was only too obvious that the head maid would look at this child with disbelief, maybe even looking for her parents? Then again when did one count as an adult in this age?

"Don't believe me, huh? Well, you see, I fought alongside @Roland Rutledge and @Tertoria'n urm..." Church... wasn't noble thou? "...Heroes!" Yes. They were pretty strong. Way stronger than Seigi. If the crimson-hair was a fledging Hero then, obviously, they HAD to be heroes. Fighting against the darkness and all too. "We fought against some Eldritch beings! I'm sure Roland remembers me!" Oh the disrespect, calling the Duke by first name all that casual, huh? Unless, of course...

Nonetheless, as famous as this meeting was to the public as famous were the rumors about the supposed-to-be-enemy. People dying of dark, eldritch, tentacles and all such. Honestly, with all the pitch black going on, they could as well be all from the same apple tree!

"Still not convinced?!" Of course not, everybody could claim such childish stories! "But I AM! A Hero." This time, Seigi used her fledging Heroic Aura to show off. "See, I even have a heroic aura of heroism!" Duh.

If this, but only if, this still wasn't enough. Trying all honest, and cute(?) and so on, Seigi sighed. "Alright, look. I AM telling the truth! I got experience in fighting these things!" Actually, she had never seen Titanius but... black-all-the-same!?!!

Regardless, Seigi now unwrapped part of her bandaged up arms. Her hand, to be precise. "Don't. Freak. Out." Her Aura was soothing anyway! "But I even got a terrible battle-scar from this Eldritch Abomination!" With these words, the head-maid was the first, other, person to probably see Seigi's little secret: Pitch-black, void-like, sunlight-absorbing 'skin'. It wasn't even a lie. Seigi DID get this from getting slaughtered by fighting an Eldritch Käse Monster!

Escaping the horror of Titanius during her expedition to Western Astorea Mizuki knew that she was going to clash with that monstrosity in the future, if only because she'd willingly seek out that conflict. So when she heard that there was going to be a meeting to discuss the situation and prepare for the fight ahead she departed immediately, heading towards the estate of the duke Roland Rutledge. The Monster Hunters would undoubtedly want to take part in this, but they needed allies.

Arriving at the estate it quickly became clear to her that all manner of unique individuals were gathering here. Even from here she could see the large extravagant carriage that entered the manor, complete with guards and entourage. The light in the sky, which disappeared while at the same time an albino woman made her way past the guards. A strange device, like a giant wheel made of steel rolling of its own volition. A woman carrying a sword which would stand out no matter which crowd she would try to mingle with.

Entering the manor herself Mizuki walked through the courtyard, over the bridge towards the building beyond. However smelling Kaede's scent she halted for a moment, looking around as the smell stopped rather abruptly. Did she fly or something? Mizuki couldn't find the elfin woman. Shrugging the Caenis resumed walking, confident that she'd run into Kaede at one point or another.

It was in the Entrance Hall that Mizuki was informed by the guards that only those who were part of Roland's household or held a title of their own were allowed into the Great Hall, where the meeting would be held. Frowning Mizuki asked if there was a way to be granted entry, thanking them when they pointed her towards the most self-important looking maid. While she could understand that the nobility had to be taken care of first this strategy meeting would be rather lacking if most of the adventurers would be forced to wait outside. And she wasn't going to play along with the higher ups thinking of a plan all by themselves and expecting the free-spirited adventurers to obediently do as they were told.

Seeing Seigi also asking for entry (or demanding it, rather) Mizuki raised a hand in greeting towards the red-haired heroine.

"Hello Seigi. Ready to help kill an old god?"

Turning towards the Head Maid Mizuki gave her a nod in greeting.

"Greetings miss. I've been told that if I want to attend the strategy meeting I'll have to gain your permission. I've encountered the monstrosity before, and I can safely say that the more informed and involved everyone is the better our chances of success... and we'll need every advantage we can get."

There was supposed to be a large collection of noble of various countries in one place; it was when people did things like this did he had stress. At least if he had known in the advice, he could have sent out a few feelers get a taste of how the city was feeling about this. There was almost no reason to worry, but then again this was a meeting called to deal with what was supposed to be an abomination from the deep, so there was that. He was going to need a lot more liquor if he was going to get through this a lot of alcohol, however, it would not be good if a baron of the duke that was holding the meeting drunk. So be covered back up his flask and made his way to the main hall. Unlike everyone else in the dukedom he didn’t have a job to do here, he wasn’t on guard duty, and there was nothing in the political spectrum that interested him. He was just there because the duke called and he had made the man an oath that he would help to protect the land. That and well dying to a horror from the abyss was not on his to-do list for this week.

That willingness not to drink only lasted until he got to the bar however as there seemed to be a cup of ale in his hand. Well, that was something he didn’t even remember picking that up, and as long as he had it. Downing the cup in one goes, feeling the beautiful burn of rum as it traveled through his system. Taking a seat and grabbing a second cup from one of the waitresses as they passed by adding his little mixture from his flask to the glass. This was why he didn’t like the fruity stuff it was all flavor and no kick. The last time he had added something to this flask it was a mixture of gin and possibly ale or was the vodka? Whatever it was it would be stronger than the fruit juice they were serving he was confident of that. The duke was more a subtle wine man while Aalam was a more drink until the cellar was empty and then find another cellar.

It seemed that would have to wait they had guest after all and by the looks of it he was right to be worried as thought. However, there were at least two people that seemed capable enough to deal with any trouble and if they failed there was an entire contingent of guards to pick up the pieces. So he did what he always did in a situation like this he pulled up a chair and propped himself up in a corner and watched the room.

He was surprised that Cain was able to bully his way into the room, but then again he was Cain, and the guards were guards. However, he wasn’t causing a problem, so he wasnt his problem.

Edna huffed and puffed her way down to the entrance hall where the rest of her staff had already placed a makeshift reception desk. What an annoying task given to her by that annoying lord. How dare he send her to talk to the rabble while he was cavorting with the Tertoria elite. The first to arrive at her desk was @Cain Darlite who loudly, and annoyingly declared his qualifications. With a smile, Edna realized that Roland had inadvertently given her access to what would annoy him the most.

Ah, Mr. Darlite is it? Very well, I will give you a special promissory pass; please deliver it to the Duke when you arrive. Otherwise, he may have you escorted out.

A moment passed, and she produced a hastily written note, sealed with wax, handing it to Cain before sending him on his way. "What annoying tripe, let the 'Lord' deal with him..."

The next to arrive was @Seigi who claimed to be a hero, who had fought alongside both Roland and Tertoria. Even more, she claimed to have a run in with what was possibly the eldritch abomination itself. The later made Edna frown, but still, she chimed in much as she had before,

Segi was it? Very well, if you've fought the beast first hand, you likely will carry insight the Duke could use... Please... take this... Uhm, actually. It's best not to give it to a child. Revis! Come here! Ah, yes good please escort this little lady to the great hall and inform our Duke she has valuable information about the struggle.

As the maid spoke a man in a messy butlers uniform strode forward, extending his hand to Seigi prepared to walk her to the Great Hall. Before she could leave, however, @Ueno Mizuki moved forward claiming to have fought with the monster as well. Edna eyed the girl up and down appraising her outfit.

Ah, you as well? Hmm, looking like you do, I can't say you'd be safe from the Duke's advances, but if you have information you better head with Miss Seigi.

With that, she waved the three onward.

(From this point @Cain Darlite, @Seigi, and @Ueno Mizuki can freely travel between the Great Hall, Inner Courtyard, and Entrance Hall as they so please.)

With his UI up Alric scanned over the message more than once just to be sure it was real. To think he'd become both a baron and the captain of House Rutledge’s guards all at once. Needless to say, he was ecstatic!

Though part of him wished these achievements could occur under more jovial conditions. The duke had called for all members of the house to return to the manor to discuss an issue that couldn't be ignored any longer: Titanius. Alric wasn't even quite sure what the monster was, but after encountering a small piece of it during the investigation of Naryu Canyon he could say without hesitation they were all in for a rough time.

Upon arriving at the manor he made a quick trip to the guardhouse to fill out his paperwork. When it was done he was gifted the captain's emblem which he pinned to the front of Fenrir's Coat. From the guards he learned many of the nobles had already gone inside, so it would be in his best interests to go as well. Hisvnewfound status meant he'd have no problem passing the guards stationed along the way to the Great Hall, but before getting that far he stopped and sent a PM.

Hey, my Duke is holding a meeting to discuss strategies for dealing with that creature we encountered at Naryu Canyon. If you're interested in attending meet me in the entrance hall at Rutledge Manor. Normally you wouldn't get by unless you were a noble, but I can escort you both in since I'm a baron now. Directions to the building are provided below. Seeya soon!

    Flanst

Priscilla huffed as she was finally, after a ridiculously long wait, allowed into the Great Hall. Being let in before the commoners was all well and good but where was her red carpet? They wasted her money for certain.

Faulkner, I worry I might get some disease from how unclean this place feels. This certainly isn't even Dormont tier is it?

My Lady, I believe that was renamed to Vintergard. Here are your hand wipes if you need them.

    Hohohohoho! Always reliable!

The Exquisite Lady took examined the chairs and chose one that kind of met her high expectations. She immediately wiped her hands and took out her fan waving it in her face. It was around this time that @Cain Darlite made himself known to her after greeting Max.

Ah, good to see you my friend! It seems like just yesterday that we were facing down orcs and mad Caeniis! Hahaha! It is good to see you are well. Yes, the journey back to Tertoria went well. If only because Titanius was still asleep at the time. I always fear for my squad's life when crossing that death trap. As I've done it more times that most of those here. Fulfilling My Lady's wishes.

Priscilla looked at the man who... had the most eloquent of speech. The king of Astorea, even if a bit more attractive was a brute compared to this man. Priscilla always appreciated the rare man of culture.

Oh? Why thank you! I have heard of you in name only from Maximilian. You are a rare one in a world of buffoons. To know true elegance when you see it. Hohohoho! I too have some skill's in music. I would greatly enjoy to hear your voice first hand.

Maybe he had a voice that would inspire her latest writing's of forbidden love?

    Krelian

The man who introduced himself as Judas Krelian the Lord Alchemist, would find himself with his wife in arm, in the Great Hall. He nodded with more approval than Priscilla by far, even when his own wife looked almost equally disgusted by the place.

Brings back memories of my time in the Pendelucus Ruins. Ah, the nostalgia. Although they have done a fine job getting this place ready for visitors. In my humble opinion of course.

After a short moment of looking around, a smile crossed his face. The man did not immediately sit but rather went straight towards the back where @Roland Rutledge was. He gestured to his wife and then his possible attendant that stood a bit behind him with what looked like permanent bitch face syndrome.

Lord Rutledge. I am honored to be here. My name is Judas Krelian of House Krelian. I am a alchemist by trade. This is my darling wife, Verdi. She has not gotten around much, so forgive her odd behavior and lack of people skills.

And... this is Livie. She is here to assist with serving guests if needed. If not she will take care of most of our needs. She is very good at what she does even if she may appear hostile. She is a sweet girl I assure you.

    ...Charmed I'm sure.

    ...Keh. Much of the hellos.

A smile appeared on the girl's face that was completely breaking of her fairly meek appearance. Her teeth... were like a row of razors on some savage animal. If those teeth had been brushed and maintained perfectly of course. The smile would make most people feel she would bite their head or at least their hand off if they went near it.

    Tertus Ellania

Ikuro seemed less interested in mingling than the first two sets of nobles. The lone young woman had made her way into the Great Hall and was about to immediately take her seat... until her eyes fell on someone.

    Des! You came!

Walking up to the shorter platinum haired girl. The Lady Saya gave her a great big hug. Pulling away but holding her shoulders, she would continue. Completely ignoring the place they were n.

I'm sorry for doubting but how often have we worked apart lately? I've been like, so busy fighting Chaos Beasts that I barely have the time for much else! To think we will fight Titanius together finally after all this time of me doing it alone...

She wiped a tear from her eye.

Like, this is so great. Really!

She let go of the Star Maiden and folded her arms looking around before returning the attention to her friend, partner, and teacher.

Last time I was outside Tertoria. I was a little girl with no where to go. Things have changed, I've changed. Like, for the better of course.

She made a look as if she didn't really agree with that for a moment but forced a smile on anyway. The champion of Tertus Ellania had to keep a confident and cheery demeanor after all. Even if this was... the 30th or so time she's had to fight this thing. The thought of this being the last made her feel good actually, even though she had her doubts. How would this be different? What did 'evolved'
even mean? She hoped Des would answer that for her soon.

It's a shame that Vale never came. I thought she liked traveling. I don't know why she is being this way...

    Weiss

    Beeindruckend!

How gut to see you Saya! Ja, this is the moment where that monster will finally be gone for gut. It is the only Dissonance I have ever assigned to you exclusively and you have done a wunderbar job of keeping it under control! You have made gut use of Arbiter! The Star Maiden's of Origin would be stolz!

The girl nodded with approval before seeing that people were still arriving and that Roland was preoccupied by Krelian. She saw the look of concern on Saya's face and offered her a Weiss Stick before taking her hand into hers.

Valeria has her reasons I'm sure. What's important is to focus on our tasks for now Saya. Everyone counts on your strength. Even me, I cannot defeat all Dissonance alone. Not even Ella could accomplish that without her friends.

Seeing Saya's mood improve, Des went to a nearby window and it opened by itself as she leaned on it with her elbows. Her eyes gazed out at the outside world that wasn't Tertoria. The possibilities had just grown exceedingly. Never before had something like this came about.

Times were changing. So it was time to put away this ghost of the past. All the while getting to see the blazing souls of the unknown people of a new world. No wonder Dissonance became so active so much easier than before. The imbalance was growing.

A bird flew onto her finger as she petted it lightly with a single finger and kept to herself until someone would ask for her attention or the meeting truly began. While she did want to speak with some of the people here.

    There was no rush.

It... worked? What a nice and great old maid the woman was! Easier than Seigi expected. Of course, the red-hair had actually forgotten to say her name as @Ueno Mizuki appeared behind her. Ooohhhhh these eyes, Seigi.Just.Couldn't.Get.Enough.Of.Them.

"Hey there!" The crimson-hair beamed towards the wolf-girl as the head maid willingly gave her free passage. Just like that? Awesome. Following the butler? Not as awesome. Regardless, as 'the Hero' made a few steps forward she was just about to say something to help Mizuki out before the situation just resolved itself.

With both of them following the messy butler now, Seigi spoke up. "You punched an Eldritch thingy too? Mhm... you have to tell me how it was! Did you..." The crimson-hair sharpened her eyes for just a second. "...die?" If that was the case, maybe Seigi could find out more about her own problems.

As they arrived in the Great Hall Seigi was amazed at the... lack of people? Most of them looked super special awesome thou! And lots of guards. Well, this was the part where she'd simply detach from the butler and—"Young Miss Seigi? Where are you going? Lord Rutledge is over there!" The butler intercepted her. Urgh, Seigi did not lie but she kinda played around with her words. So, she had never seen Titanius at all!

"Yeah, I know, but-""No buts, young Miss! The Lord may look busy but I'm sure he appreciates any and all inform-""Oh, you see that fancy person over there?! She's my... dear comrade! I gotta talk to my friend first. SUPER IMPORTANT!" Seigi pointed at someone nice looking in the room. She didn't know this person, BUT people one didn't know were simply friends one hadn't made yet. So it all worked out!

The butler raised an eyebrow in suspicion. "The Lady Saya?" A name Seigi had never heard. "Yes, The Lady Saya!" The warrior's name? Nonetheless, the butler seemed to wait for Seigi to do something? At first, he had a confident smug-eating smile under his mustache before his eyes furrowed a bit in annoyance. "Well?" He asked, apparently wanting to see how this 'nobody Hero' would casually walk/talk up to THE Lady Saya.

"We haven't met in a long time! You're right, so..." Fine, how bad could it end anyway? With a confident smile herself, Seigi approached the warrior girl as she tapped her shoulder from behind. "Ah! The Lady Saya, LONG LONG time no see. Feels like we had NEVER met, in fact! It's me! Seigi Ling Ling, the Sunset Sage of Seven Strikes! You're... awesome as ever!" She did look kinda awesome indeed!

Seigi gave the butler a short thumbs up as he sighed. "I'm not getting paid enough for this." Before shrugging, taking a short look at Mizuki, and simply continuing his way towards Roland.

    @Tertoria
Got @Roland Rutledge ok to do the Butler like that

The first Madison planned to do after this whole thing was to dump as many Mastery Points as she could into her Energy stat.

Lungs on fire, muscles screaming, hair even messier than usual, the plagueslinger finally made her way through the outer courtyard and into Rutledge Manor. The carriage ride had been long and bumpy, but she'd gotten quite a lot of reading done. But the driver would only bring her so far; the remaining two miles would had to have been done on foot.

Thank the gods she opted to wear boots instead of heels.

Her mind was consumed with the monster that she, Portia, and Alric battled and barely escaped from in Naryu Canyon. She spent the following weeks trying to uncover as much as she possibly could about the eldritch horror but came up short. So, instead, she had been studying up on other occult matters that wove their dark tendrils through the fabric of this reality.

Maybe she'd come up with something that would be of use for the coming battle.

Alric's letter gripped firmly in her white-knuckled hand, Madison nearly collapsed from exhaustion as she finally rolled into the manor's entryway. As she came to a stop, she bent over and propped herself up with her hands on her knees.

"Water, now, please," she rasped to anyone who would listen.

Now, where the hell is Alric?

So, it was time for the big show down. Every classic good story came down to one; Kill Bill, Bonnie and Clyde, Lord of the Rings, and each of the 72 Star Wars movies. It seemed like it was this story’s turn to take a chance on that great rite of passage, and it was Eryl’s turn for a first at one of these in this game too. She wondered what it would be like.

Clad in her rather-worn armor, with her trusty sword strapped across her back, the woman marched forward, determined as ever. Her mind still went back to @Luna Avalbane and their enjoyable time at the worshipful temple of Libertas. The women had something special, what it was, Eryl didn’t know. She wasn’t quite the type to settle down in games, settling down meant weakness, and weakness was something that others could exploit. But they had certainly shared something.

Eryl wondered if she would meet her in this. The woman didn’t know if she hoped Luna would be here or wished she would stay away. This would probably be more dangerous than anything else so far, she would hate for that delicate woman to find herself in cross hairs this dangerous. On the other hand, it would be great to get to see her again, and there was no one else she would rather have fighting by her side. Her mind drifted to the others she had met during their attack on the Bandit King, she wondered if she would meet any of them here as well.

At last her leather boots stopped before the entrance gate, hitting the gravel with a heavy stomp each. She didn’t know if she had to check in before hand or not. The redhead snapped to a smart salute before the guards at the gate, “Eryl Justice, reporting in.”
