As if it was out of no where, a small boy appeared, through pixelation and graphics that melted away after seconds. He opened his eyes and marvelled at the world that was Terrasphere. A curt smile sat slimly on his lips, as if it had reserved a place there for a extremely long time. Arwyn, otherwise known as Nino Caro in the real world, was stood on a green bank, facing towards a rolling sea, to which Arwyn presumed to be the coastal part of the game. He turned around and was instantly met with a bustling town, chock-full with noise. He whistled softly before deciding he should enter, as to gain information as such as where he may be. He skidded down the bank, his body leaning and his feet preserving a slight balance. Arwyn landed safely on the bank, to which he then thought: ‘do I have any type of menu?’ And then it clicked. He swiftly clenched his hand, opening it again quickly. A small menu opened at the action, giving Arwyn some satisfaction for his efforts. He read upon the basic controls before repeating the action. The menu was gone; as expected. Unfortunately, his first experiment did not tell him where he was, which left a slight bitter taste in his mouth. The curt smile was gone, replaced with a slim line that told no emotion. He tried many movements next, hoping to unlock a second menu, such as rolling his shoulders or clapping his hands. Arwyn blushed very lightly in embarrassment for his failed, questionable attempts. However, he stuck gold as he tapped his right temple with his middle finger and index finger, taking him into a mode he found to be “investigation mode”. He held a triumphant smile, as he discovered that the area he was populating was known as Stokbon. Happy that he had managed to find his location, Arwyn repeated the motion he had done previously which exited him from the “investigation mode”. He looked more closely now at the graphics in the game, admiring their reality. It was like the real world, only he knew it was a bunch of 0s and 1s playing tricks on him. Not that it would stop him though ! Arwyn decided he would make his way into Stokbon, in search of perhaps social quests- some of the more easier quests, that required no violence, until he could collect some gear that would do more damage than a stick, perhaps. While Nino appreciated the fact he was an amazing planner, he also took into account he had nothing to his name in this world- hell, it wasn’t even his name. He would need to gain what was called “mastery points” and “gold” to increase both his skills and his weapons. With a new found goal, the small boy set off into the town. The curt smile from earlier was creepily on his lips again, his mind ticking for any available quests, but also, he was surveying the area for other players. It appeared to him quickly that there was no definite way for people to see if they were player or NPC, which gave Nino a great gleeful thrill. This game was pure bliss- no one would know it was him unless he told them. Possibilities were endless, and he thoroughly enjoyed that.
Upon opening her eyes, Victoria found herself in a completely new world, just how she always does when she first starts a virtual reality game. She scanned her surroundings, silently awing the beautiful sight presented before her eyes. It started to make her feel lethargic. She started to debate whether she should just lie down and enjoy the beauty or to move around and search for a place to start some quests. 'It's too early to take rest. Perhaps after I finish a quest I can treat myself to the wonderful computerized scenery of this world' She thought as she made her way into the town. The short girl walked with her back straight and her eyes darting left and right, keeping herself at high alert. She wondered who and where she would have to go to get a quest. Normally she could just walk up to an NPC but this game was different. She would not be able to distinguish between a player and a NPC and honestly, this made the game even more realistic and amusing. Her amethyst colored eyes rested upon a male who kept doing weird gestures. It almost made her laugh in amusement. She felt he could be a player who was trying to open his menu, but she couldn't be too sure. For all she knew, he also could have been a broken NPC or a mime. She knew one thing though. If she wanted to enjoy, she would have to socialize. She walked towards him and saw him in the eye. "hello there sir. My name is Libitina Cerin and I am new around here. I have a proposal for you. How about the two of us join together and finish a quest? It is always better to do things of that sort together, do you not think so?" She was direct and did not even try to beat around the bushes. She held a stoic expression and her voice was high and clear, not even once stuttering with her words.
Arwyn was shuffling through the crowd to a less dense area when he was a approached by a girl, who could’ve been an NPC, set off randomly, or maybe she was a player and she needed help. Well, not like he could help her: he could barely work this game himself. He listened to her, smiled curtly once again, and then replied: “ah, hello ‘Libitina Cerin, I am Arwyn. I believe so to.” His smiled turned slightly devilish, “Ah, so you’re a player ? I guess if you’ve outed yourself, I might as well. I’m also a new player, in fact I just got the game.” Arwyn shifted from foot to foot, expecting her to look confused at his smile: most people did when they saw his smile. “Perhaps we should do a social quest, as if appears we do not have any gear that could be used for killing monsters.” Arwyn gestured to his own body, pointing out the lack of armour and weapon. He was interested in this girl, and what she could do for him. Maybe a good person so build an alliance with later on in the game? It would depend how good she turned out to be. Taking a breath, he prayed investing time into would not be a disappointment.
The short female raised an eyebrow at the grin he gave but decided not to ponder about it for too long nor to get bothered about it. "you are correct. As new players we have no armor nor any fighting skills so a social quest would be much suited for the likes of us..but thinking you cannot fight just because we have no armor sounds much like a person who cannot handle challenges. We still have our basic weapons and our brains so we can even do a kill quest, provided that the monster we were to encounter would be a weak leveled one." She sounded confident in herself, which she actually was. She knew she could handle a kill quest, at least better than a social quest. 'No. I need to push my boundaries.Besides, he seems like the type who can easily mingle with people. I suppose no harm in taking the quest he thinks is better' "but let us do a social quest itself. I would like trying out everything this game has to offer me" She walked ahead of him, trying to find a bulletin board where the two could find a board where the two could start their first quest. She would often time glance at him to see whether he was still following her. After a few minutes of walking, she found herself in the town square where a rather large bulletin board resided. "You can go pick the quest. I'll go for anything you want to do" She let him decide on the quest because she was not too sure what type he would prefer neither would she be good at picking one. Also, she did not want to seem too dominating and cause him to back away from her. She leaned against a wall, running her hand through her hair and waited for him
Arwyn giggled, pleased that he had not hooked a boring person- maybe this would be a worthwhile investment. “While you are right in areas, I don’t have a weapon and assuming that my magic has enough to last me for a fight- with out any experience whatsoever ? It’s quite childish. I admire your enthusiasm, but don’t you know about the penalty to such actions ? What if you die and have a fear of that area ? So many outcomes that could turn against you, that taking a social quest, increasing our abilities without having to temporary, even permanently, damaging our characters seems like the much better choice. Don’t you agree the wiser and more tactical approach would be taking on a social quest.” He paused, letting that sink in, to which he smiled gleefully, “However, I agree, I could take on a kill quest, player or NPC. I’m just taking the most calculated route.” he finished, quite chipper. The small Male, now happy he had delivered his point, possibly intimidated her: how fun! He couldn’t have done anything like that in the real world, but here ? He could do anything he wanted. Anything. Arwyn followed her, as she seemed to have a clue where she was headed. He pushed through groups of girls, blockades of boys and mingles of middle aged people doing their shopping. Nino realised that his height was definitely a slight disadvantage in these crowds, but he wouldn’t let that get to him. He confidently pushed back, and caught up with his new found party member, who was looking at a big board displaying the text “QUESTS”. The quest board ! Upon hearing her offer, Arwyn took it without hesitation, going up close to the board. He looked over the available quests, evaluating the best possible ones for his first quest. “Hmm. Well, what do we have here ?” He said softly to himself, pointing at a particular piece of parchment. He took it from the board, read over it once again and decided they should do it. He walked over to where the girl was standing and held the paper out in front of her, leaning onto one side. “Look,” He said, pointing to the paper. “It’s social, however, it does mention we might be able to have a little bit of a fight. A good compromise, no?” He coolly looked at her with his piercing green eyes, before turning the paper around. He began to read: “My father's never been pleased about my choice of partner. He's been sending thugs to harass my wife's family, and interrupt our business dealings at Agripalia's ports. My wife's father, Lord Evenway, has been kind enough to take me in when my own father had put a bounty on my head, so I would like to repay them. I plan on confronting my father at his manor to put a stop to the hired thugs, but I doubt he'll act in good faith during our talks. I'd like a few people who are not averse to getting rough if the situation does turn out to call for violence. -Oberon Dawnfeld.” he finished, pausing for a while to let her register all of the details. He folded the paper and placed it in his pocket, content with his choice of quest. “Let’s go talk to this Oberon Person, shall we ?” Arwyn looked at her with his curt smile, gesturing towards the road. He guessed they would have to walk to the Dawnfeld Manor, as this is where they be taking the agree meant. He began to walk, quite chipper. He then remembered that he would need to know where these manors are and stopped. From his previous lesson, he took his index finger and his middle finger, placing them on his temple to activate “investigation mode.” Arwyn set back on the path again, walking at a moderate speed to ensure his party member could follow.
'If you die, you will fear the reason of death. Not to mention the pain would feel real. The idea of that sounds so interesting as well. Whatever the case, I got myself a rather logical partner. I guess its true when they say looks can be deceiving' She thought as she tilted her head, watching as he looked through the quests to pick one out for them. She was curious to see what sort of quest he would pick out, hopefully not something as dull as delivering something to someone. She had no interest in being little red riding hood at the moment. She stood up straight when she noticed the short male make his way towards her and bent forward slightly, with her hands against her hips, to take a good look at the paper he got. She could only make out the handwriting and design of the page before he turned it towards himself to read the quest out loud. "Ah,you have certainly outdid yourself Arwyn. I am quite thrilled that I got to partner with you for my first quest in this game." She nodded at the suggestion of going to Oberon and watched as he started to walk ahead in a very cheerful manner. 'Does he even know where we are to go?' She wondered as she just watched the male walk ahead, not following him just yet. She shook her head when he stopped and opened his investigation mood. "Well, at least you did not try opening your menu by jumping or rolling your shoulders again" She commented, implying that she had just witnessed the male make a fool out of himself,as she now began to follow him. "Not to worry. I shall not tell anyone. My lips are sealed" She had hoped the male actually knew where he was going. It took a few minutes, but the two finally found themselves standing before a large mansion which seemed to be made of white marble. The mansion was decorated with swirls and details were added carefully, making the mansion even more beautiful. "Now, that is a wonderful place. We better get paid handsomely for this" She knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. They did not have to wait long since a man, most likely a butler, opened the door to the mansion. "We both saw a request on the quest board and came to offer our assistance" she wasted no time to tell him the reason for their arrival. The butler nodded and took the two into a room and offered them tea and snacks before leaving to get the man who requested assistance. She grabbed one of the biscuits and took a bite of it. "Oh wow, these taste good" she said as she then took the tea cup and sipped tea from it. "Not bad at all. The game has outdone itself with the sensitivity. I can taste the meal so clearly." She said, taking another biscuit and putting it in her mouth, a few crumbs making its way to the corner of her mouth. The door opened to reveal a tall man in a white suit. "So you two have come upon hearing my plea of help? I am utterly grateful...are you sure the two of you can handle this task? like I said, things might get rough" the man said. He talked very fast and never made eye contact with them. He would keep shaking his leg and kept touching his hand, all signs of nervousness. She leaned towards her male companion and whispered in his ears. "I don't know about you, but I think the first thing we need to teach this man is body language and how to appear more confident. If he keeps acting this way when he talks to his old man, I doubt he would be taken seriously"
“Oh I know, I know. I am quite exquisite, you shall hardly see anyone like me.” He winked, his arrogance shining through, “I also glad I have you for a party member, perhaps when we are stronger in the game, we would team up in a dungeon of sorts. However, let’s focus on the task at hand.” He finished. Arwyn took reference from the investigation mode every so often, just to make sure they were headed in the right direction, and made sure that his party member followed suit. He wasn’t sure of what to make of her appearance-wise. Of course, all of the characters in the game were very attractive, but he tried draw meaning of the person behind the character. How come she had walked up to him? And then, the next sentence he heard stopped him still. “You saw that, huh?” His face went cold, his eyes staring at her like a Icicle dagger at her neck. Her next sentence reassured him, drawing a sigh of relief from the air. “Thank you. This is my first virtual reality game, so I’m not very good with the controls. However, I am skilled at tact.” He said, matter-of-fact. As they approached the mansion, Arwyn admired the stunning architecture, possibly taken from English Georgian Mansions or maybe earlier. Nino, already transfixed on the wonderful graphics of the game, stood in awe of the beautiful detail that covered the mansion. “I want to have enough gold to buy a house like this.” He murmured to himself. “Oh yes, I hope so as well. I want to buy some gauntlets and improve my abilities.” He told her, as if she was something he could take notes in. Arwyn took note of her posture, drawing the fact that not only was she quite an interesting and enthusiastic person, but also confident in her actions. She would be a very good leader. Perhaps he could use her as a pawn to feed his ideas to. He would have to see. He watched as she knocked on the door. He was pleasantly surprised at the fact the door was opened fairly quickly. Nino did not care much for waiting and the service was greatly appreciated. He nodded as she spoke, agreeing with her choice of words. He stepped gently onto the wooden floor, following Libitina into the beautifully crafted mansion. As he entered the room, he smelled the air and recognised the musty authenticity of the room. Arwyn sat gingerly on one of the seats, and he happily took one of the biscuits. He broke it in half and began to nibble on the end. “I agree, these are excellent. More so, the fact that the game has been created to such detail.” One of his giggles arouse, and he finished with “I can feel the bumps on my tongue.” He finished the side of the biscuit and began to nibble on the second half. He finished the biscuit as the man known as their recruiter entered the room as well. He sat down in front of them, with a shaky knees. He listened to the mans worried words, and his curt smile took its usual seat on his face. “It’s no problem, sir. We are more than capable to handle the situation.” He said happily, like a salesmen. He listened intently to his party member, and then took note of what she meant. He returned her whisper with, “Yes, I also agree that he needs, well, some type of... tutoring.” Arwyn relaxed his soldiers, and carefully said, “sir, I can’t help but notice you seem, well, nervous ?” The man sighed, the worry showing more thoroughly in his face. “Yes. I am indeed, nervous. I love my wife, out and through, more than anything. However, I love my father too. He raised me. But the way he’s been treating me? He has no respect for me, or my decisions.” His face held a grim line, his eyes dropping. Arwyn looked seriously at the man. He too, well, had issues with his father. Arwyn smiled once again, his eyes possibly showing some true emotion. “Well, first of all sir, try to sit up straight. Don’t be nervous. Look him in the eye, think about your wife. Don’t be Afraid. And, keep your voice steady. Breathe, slowly, in and out.” He gave strict instructions, to which the Man repeated as instructed. Arwyn was slowly becoming more and more hopeful for the man: he had managed to slow his breathing and not shake himself to death. “How about you clasp your hands together, and sit up straight ? You’ll appear more confident that way.” Arwyn dashed one of his devilish smiles, and then turned to look at his female partner.
'Oh no, It seems I have gotten myself an arrogant person. As long as it does not affect me, I think I can live' she thought as she walked with him. When he told her about how the two should team up when they become stronger she just nodded in acknowledgment. In truth, even she would not mind teaming up with him later in the future. He seemed like an interesting guy and definitely the type that should not be underestimated. She was pretty sure that he would be able to get strong after a while of playing this game. He seemed enthusiastic about the game and though it was his first, he did better than most first timers. Almost made her feel nostalgic from back in the days when she was a newbie like him. Unlike him, however, she had searched up about how to play a virtual reality game before jumping into it so she did not make a fool out of herself. She watched as her male companion interacted with the nervous man in the room and noticed the expression Arwyn had when their recruiter talked about his dad. 'Seems like our recruiter is not the only one with daddy issues' She made no comment as she sipped her tea. She was paying close attention to the two. She did not want to interfere. She wanted the short yet capable male to take the lead and teach the man and he was doing a good job as well. Arwyn got the man to at least stop looking like a dying chihuahua but it was not enough. Whenever she tried to make eye contact, the man would turn his head away. With a loud click, the amethyst eyed female set her cup down and walked up to the man. She place her foot on the sofa, right next to the man's face. It was a surprise that her skirt did not ride up. "Listen here buddy. You are pissing me off. First of all, if he truly loved you he would not be against you marrying someone else. As a parent, they should support your decision and let you choose what makes you happy. Second of all, what are you afraid of?" "t-that my father might-" the girl did not allow him to continue talking. "Do not stutter. That young man just taught you how not to shake. I will not tolerate you throwing away my companions effort. Also, I did not mean what you fear the most. I meant, why do you fear me? You have no reason to turn your eyes away from me yet you do so. Why?" "you look like you are going to punch me" Her eyebrow twitched in annoyance. In the real world, The female was rather tall and held herself high which made it hard for people to interact with her. She thought that if she decreased her height, one might find it comforting but it seems that was not the case. "I will punch you if you do not look me in the eye" she demanded. The man slowly turned his head to look her in the eye. "See? not bad is it? do the same with your father. You need not worry about getting attacked. Like my partner said, we are capable fellows." she removed her foot and looked down at the sitting man before turning to her partner. "continue with these lessons. I will not interfere now"She said going back to her seat and taking another biscuit.
Arwyn turned his head towards Libitina as she purposely set her cup down forcefully. He stood to the side, quite intrigued in what her following actions would be: he hoped they would not disappoint him as others did when they got over worked. He watched curiously as she got closer to their employer, and slightly felt the need to intervene, as this could possibly lose them the quest. However, if decided, if he wanted to have fun, he should just let action take course. Nino looked at the woman, chuckling at her irritated face. It’s something most people would not get so angry over. She was quite interesting, interesting indeed. Despite his logical mind, Nino actually agreed with what she was saying. He nodded as she explained the fault in the man’s father’s ways. Her second question drew his attention to the man, as it was clear that he was afraid of something, but what? Arwyn was genuinely surprised at how she reacted when the man stuttered. It was true he had tried his best to teach him, but he was an NPC, below their possible emotional capabilities. It was a program and He couldn’t help but be amused at the helplessness of them. Although, he did feel some empathy towards this one. Just this one. Arwyn couldn’t help but stifle a laugh. Libitina was certainly a fierce person, however there was no need to be scared of her. But, undoubtedly, she did look like she was hoping to punch him. ‘How exciting’ he thought, ‘but I hope she doesn’t. I’d like to get the reward for this quest.’ He sighed softly as the girl removed her self from the cowering man. Coughing himself back into the conversation, Arwyn took this chance to tell their employer one more thing. “Sir, while Libitina’s methods are... debatable, she is not wrong. You need to make eye contact and hold it. If it helps you, Smile once and a while as a way to relax. You have no need to worry, as you are in fine hands.” Gesturing not only to himself, but also to his female companion. Their employer, Oberon Dawnfeld, nodded in agreement, but Nino caught a slight sign of terror, particularly in Libitina’s direction. ‘That’s as good as it’s going to get, I suppose.’ He admitted. While he was amazing and incredibly smart, some people can only be taught so much. “Well, shall we be off ? I will transport us there by carriage and horse, and we shall begin the meeting.” Oberon said, standing up. He wasn’t shaking now, more in control than before. He set off back the way they came. Arwyn nodded, and followed him accordingly. Soon, they were in a beautiful horse-drawn carriage, which matched the decoration of the mansion. Nino muttered something once again about wanting the profits for the carriage, however, his main attention was on the man. He was pondering the factors of how he and his father came into a bad relationship as they came to a stop. “We’re here.” Oberon said, his voice slightly less confident. Arwyn gave a fake-reassuring smile, and climbed out of the carriage. He let Libitina out, and then Oberon, giving him a thumbs up as all three of them waited there. Shortly after, which he was appreciative of once again, a butler not too familiar to the one at the other mansion came to their call. While he and his employer were talking, Arwyn spent his time in awe of the architecture. This mansion was so different but no less magnificent to the last. It was Greek Styled, with beautiful pillars holding up a temple-like balcony above them. “I love this game.” He said simply, his hand caressing the walls. “Don’t you?” He asked, presumptively at Libitina. At last, they were greeted inside and brought upstairs into a brown room, decorated with bookcases and other studious objects. In the centre of the room, there was a long table with one chair either side. On one side, Oberon’s father (or who Arwyn presumed to be Oberon’s father) sat, backed by two guard. Arwyn guessed they weren’t players, as there was no quest in favour of Oberon’s father on the quest board. Oberon took his place on the other side of the table, and Nino followed behind him. He stood on his left shoulder, leaving room for Libitina on his right. He leant into her ear, quietly saying “We won’t be killing any players today, those must be some of the mercenaries that he mentioned.” He turned back to face Oberon’s father, occasionally glancing at Oberon himself, or Libitina.
She watched as Oberon got up with a slight more confidence than before. She was about to follow the two males before stopping on her tracks, taking one step back, finishing her tea in one large gulp and taking another biscuit before actually following them. During the time in the carriage, she paid little to no heed to the males who were with her, too busy paying attention to the wonderful scenery that could be seen through the window of the carriage. When she descended down from the carriage, the young girl stretched her body as though exhausted from the carriage ride. She noticed her green eyed partner touching the walls of the mansion as he turned to her. "Indeed. I give you a small credit for making this game so exciting. In many games, if your first partner is dull and boring, you tend to feel rather drawn away from the game, no matter how fun others claim it to be" She said, purposefully feeding his ego, just to see what sort of reaction he would give her. She would be lying if she said that her partner did not interest her. She was not one to particularly take interest in others but something about him drew her in. For starters, his behavior. She was surprised a new gamer like him would join this sort of game. A place where one could feel as though everything was real. People like that are normally the type to want to start a new. Adding the grim expression he made at the mention of his father, you have yourself a person with family issues. He seemed to be rather egoistic and confident so she assumed he was an only child. 'He seems to have made his character really short. Either he is not good at socializing in real life and made his character small to be less threatening, which I highly doubt it,or he purposefully decreased his height so that normal players would underestimate him, giving him a lead in a fight' She pondered for a while before shaking the thoughts away, following Oberon and Arwyn inside the beautiful mansion to the study of Oberon's father. She stood beside her partner and scanned the room through the corner of her eyes, noting down the amount of books the man owned and wondered whether the books would be in english or a completely new language entirely. She heard what Arywn said and looked at the guards. "That makes our quest easier. NPC's tend to be less challenging when compared to players. While NPC's are limited to move and react a certain way, players can be unpredictable. If we manage to figure out the movements of our opponents, our win is guarantee, provided we are told to fight" She remained calm and expressionless as she watched the father and son have a conversation. "And to what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you here son? Have you perhaps finally come to your senses and are ready to return back home?" The father's voice rang loud through the room, a voice so demanding and strict, it was no surprise his son turned out to be such a coward. She looked at Oberon, wondering how his reaction would be. She noticed his first instinct was to take a step back. Surprisingly, she stayed calm, turning her head away from a scene she could only describe as pitiful. She started to rethink what sort of quest this was. She had thought maybe teaching the man and being by his side would be enough for this quest to be completed. Did the quest expect them to intervene? Just as she was about to whisper to the male next to her about their next move, she heard another voice echo through the room. "No father. I am here for a completely different reason. I would ask of you to leave my love and her family alone. Do not threaten them anymore" He sounded so stern, it surprised her that the man could react that way. She looked at her recruiter to see he looked his father in the eye. Hesitation was there, but it was masked with a layer of confidence. She noticed even the father was shocked. A wide smirk made its way to her lips as her eyes shined with interest. "Not bad at all" she muttered in a low voice so only her companion could hear. The father tried to compose himself so as to gain the upper hand in the room. "You dare to disobey me?! I am your father. You are my blood and vein. If it were not for me, you would not exist and yet you speak in a high tone with me? Just what do you take me for?! you think you can coming waltzing into this house with two kids and tell me what I should do?!" The father was no doubt, enraged. He seemed to have been programmed to be as a man who was never refused before. Libitina remained calm at the father's indirect insult. If anything, she seemed even more amused. "now, would you look at that Arwyn. This man seems to think he has the upper hand just because we are in his territory" She said, a mocking tone lacing her voice
Nino was pleased with his partner. He had no experience with fighting virtually. Hopefully, he would learn quickly, like he usually did. Of course, If the fight did not favour him, he would just use words to free himself. Nodding in agreement to his partner, his signature curt smile was back on his face. He was very, very excited, despite his earlier argument. He watched as the father cockily assumed that Oberon was returning home, and stifled a sigh. He had been hoping that the father would be less like his own had been years ago, however, it was obvious he wasn’t. The confidence shown by the man was uncannily familiar to Arwyn, but it had been years since he had seen it. As all eyes turned to Oberon as he spoke, clearly thinking about the lesson he and Libitina had given him earlier in the day. His voice hit strong and hard to his father and Nino smiled even more energetically. It was as if he had been knocked from his pedestal with an arrow, tumbling down, down down. Arwyn was almost proud. “Well, let’s say he learned from the best.” His soft voice reached only her ears. It wasn’t that he was implying that he was the best, well, he was, but also Libitina. She must have given him the remaining confidence needed to rise above his father. However, Oberon’s face fell as his father began to shout like a spoilt child, unhappy that they had not been given their toy back. Arwyn could no longer help himself and laughed loudly, to which he then composed him self in a professional manner; his curt smile wider than ever. This was hilarious ! While Nino was much like this man, at least he had the sense he wasn’t in the right. This man did not ! “Oh my, how pitiful! He’s so obsessed with himself and is so dependent on his sons attention and love, he throws a tantrum, like a tiny, tiny child whenever something doesn’t go his way.” He smirked sickeningly at the father, coming to Oberon’s side. He giggled and looked at Libitina then towards her weapon, hopefully giving her a hint. The man across from them was furious. He slammed his fists on the table, a judge in his court. “I will NOT be ridiculed like this ! You useless mugs, I don’t pay you to do nothing, do I !? Get them out! Out, out, out ! Make them pay for their condescending words !” He screamed, obviously having lost his temper. Arwyn laughed once again, even louder, which brought the man to stand up in a rage. “KILL THEM!” He shouted furiously. As if on cue, his hired lackeys followed their instructions, drawing swords, coming slowly before the three on the other side of the table. Nino nudged Oberon to leave, and whispered, “We shall meet you in your mansion. Go, we have this under control.” Then, he rose to his full height once again and let Libitina at her side. There are only two, and you said you could handle a kill mission, right ? Keep them busy, and I’ll work my magic.” His creepy, wide smile fixed into place. His pun obviously bringing him joy. While Libitina worked, he began to conjure up an ice spell that was in his directory. It was small, but undoubtedly, it would aid them. As he finished his chanting, he shot two small burst of ice on the lackeys feet, keeping them in place. Then, he hit the man in front of them, however, he froze it in mid air: A strait, oblong icicle met Oberon’s father’s face, merely inches away from making sweet, sweet love to his skin and blood. He tilted his head, a devilish smile painted on his face. “I wouldn’t move if I were you sweet cheeks.” You could see the obvious enjoyment in his eyes. It was leaking as if he couldn’t contain the desire he had to impale this mans face. The man shuddered with fear and then said urgently, “Stop! Do what they say, do it !” Arwyn’s curt smile took its place.
Libitina watched as her partner started to laugh out loud, finding the situation the game simulated father found himself in, really amusing. She would admit, it was funny to see but not enough to actually laugh that loud. 'A very weird and apparently, twisted, sense of humor' she thought as she ruffled her hair, watching her green eyed companion. She did not fail to notice the look he gave her. Having played many virtual reality games, she knew what the look was. She was to get herself some action. She gave him a peace sign from under the father's desk, so that neither the father nor his guards would realize what the two were planning. Her eyes narrowed in amusement as she watched their recruiter being told to leave and listened to what Arwyn had to say. She was not usually the type to listen to orders but he sounded reasonable and she got to get action. What more can a girl ask for? "one dose of distraction coming right up~" She summoned a pair of swords that were known as great swords. They weren't really fancy. They looked pretty old and really dull. She stared at the swords with disappointment. She had forgotten for a second that she was new to this game, meaning none of her weapons would be as nice and fancy as the ones she had when she was playing games where she had greater experience. The guards walked up to her, a smug look on their faces as they tried to reach a hand towards her direction. She did not let her weapon's condition get her down though. "my my, two gentlemen so eager to dance? why, I cannot refuse that, now can I?" Before the two could grab her, she bent down, a narrow escape in her part. She had forgotten that wielding the great swords would decrease her agility. She thrust her swords forwards, causing the two to lose their balance. She moved away quickly when she heard her partner finish off his chant, just in case he accidentally shot her as well. She kicked one of the men right where it hurts, just for fun. When the guard crouched down in pain, she used the opportunity to use his back as a seat. She put one leg on top of the other. "Oh?~ you'll do anything?" The man nodded, fearing the look the emerald eyed male gave. Libitina could not see Arwyn's expression from where she sat but she could have assumed it was a grin. "yes, yes. anything!" "then I suppose you will let your son marry the love of his life?" "yes" "Alright. Repeat after me. I will not bother the house of my sons's wife and I will give him my blessings" "I will not bother the house of my son's wife and..." The male paused as though he was uncertain. Before the female could ask what was wrong, the father gave the answer. "I threatened my son and his wife, try destroying the marriage he wanted to have..I doubt he would want anything to do with me, let alone get my blessings" "why did you do that when you knew it would hurt your son?" "Because. I know he can do better. He has always been a very insecure kid. I feel like he is just marrying this woman just because he thinks shes the best he could get" The girl sighed as she stared at the man. "and let me guess. You got enraged when he spoke against you because you felt you were wrong when you judged your son. That anger. It was an embodiment of your own insecurities as a father?" The man's silence was enough to prove that she was right. "well, hate to burst your bubble but people change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Not everyone stays the same. That is why humans are unpredictable" She felt stupid talking to the man as though he was an actual human. She knew very well that he was computerized but his actions and feelings, they made him so real. "Be proud that through this whole event, one thing did not change. And that is the love and respect your son has for you. He told us that himself. I bet he would be pleased to have your blessings" Though her words were kind, her voice never went soft. It was strong and authoritative, as though she was scolding the man or looking down on him "I...want to go talk to him.. and give him my blessings" the man said, showing a very vulnerable side. She nodded and got up, putting her dagger where it belonged. "alright, I think you can leave him now partner"She told to her green eyed companion
Ninos smile slipped into a line. He had wanted some blood, he had gotten worked up after all. But, this wasn’t supposed to be a full out murder mission: this would just have to full fill him for now. He never stopped staring at the man, however, he did let the icicle drop to the floor, shattering into tiny, sharp pieces. They melted into slightly larger puddles, and then they disappeared completely. ‘Amazing’ he chuntered within his own mind. Arwyn returned his focus to the target, shaking his head loose of his disappointment. He wouldn’t let this ruin his very first quest, not now since he had so much fun with what he liked to think of his first ally on this game. Oberon’s father scuffled out of his seat, quickly making his way out of the room. The lackeys looked at Arwyn desperately, unable to move one bit. He looked at them, his smile sweet luring them into a sense of false security. “No, I think I’ll leave you two a little bit longer.” Nino, not one to leave his party out of his fun, motioned towards them, still smiling sweet as ever. “My food party member, would you like to teach these fellows a lesson for underestimating us? Or perhaps you are feeling merciful?” He left her to her own devices, patiently waiting. After watching and evaluating his partners answers, Arwyn walked out of the door quite cheerily, happy that the mission was successful and some what, fun! He took one more look at the beautiful architecture before leaving the wonderful mansion and entering the horse drawn carriage. He was surprised he had not linked the mode of transport to a princess movie he had seen with his family when he was younger. His siblings were still alive then, and it was one of the very little moments of happiness containing them. The horse began its journey back to Oberon’s mansion, where they were confronted with the father and son in arms of a loving hug. He stared at it within the coach, a small, genuine smile appearing: his own father had hugged him in such lovingness and passion once. After they had finished a happy reunion, the small boy leapt out of the carriage and bowed slightly to the two lords. He then faced lord Oberon, a pleasant business face at hand. “Our agreement, sir.” He looked expectantly at them. “Ah, yes, I do believe I owe you a great debt. Here, take this money as promised, and take care in your travels. I do hope you success as new adventurers.” Oberon handed them a bag of gold each, and entered his luxury house with his father. Nino was undoubtedly pleased with his gain in economic turns as well as a new partnership with this girl. “So, Libitina, May I add you to what you gamers call a friend list? I am very much aware we do have a good effect on eachother as we work.” Arwyn was very much sure that he could’ve handled it on his own, however she didn’t need to know that, now did she? “Perhaps another time, I may treat you to a meal in this game.” He inquired. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t curious about her. So many questions: why did she start playing this game? How muh experience did she have? Would she be loyal? All important nonetheless.
On hearing her partner ask what she intended to do, the girl looked down at the cowering men. She let out a sigh as she got up from the man she was sitting on. "If I do not have to do something, I will not waste my energy over it" She stated as though she was saying that she had no use to hurt them, running a hand through her long hair. She narrowed her eyes before kicking her human chair on the stomach and punching the other man. "but If I have to do something, I will try to finish it as quickly as I can" Libitina acknowledged the fact that they were just doing their job because of which she would have spared them, if they actually tried to put up a good fight. " Listen up you two. This was your job and as employees you did poorly, letting your guard down and underestimating us. Remember, cross our paths again and a punch is the least of your worries." she announced before turning away from the pathetic excuse of bodyguards to go back to the carriage. On their way to meet Oberon, the girl remained silent, her monotonic expression was hard to read. However, that expression did not stay for long. 'Listen here Victoria. When you get older we might get into fights, but always know I will love you and will be by your side' 'No way. I won't ever get in a fight with you. You are a really nice papa after all and fighting is bad' 'Fighting amongst father and daughter is normal dear. In fact, I think its a sign that the relationship is healthy when two people fight a healthy amount. As long as we make up, fighting is not all that bad' Watching the scene of the father and son patching up, filled the girl with a wave of nostalgia. She could almost hear her father. She turned to Arwyn to see the small, almost unnoticeable smile he had. "As long as they patch up by the end of the day, fighting a reasonable amount isn't all that bad" she said out loud, giving the male a smile similar to his. She walked out of the carriage after her partner and stood by his side as the employer disturbed the rewards and left with his father. A sigh of exhausted left the girl as she stretched her arms. She turned to Arwyn as he asked her to join his friend list and even offered a free meal. She raised an eyebrow, standing up straight as she opened her game menu, noticing the time, before sending him a friend request. "You did not need to try and bribe me with free food. I was planning on asking you to join my friend list. It was fun, let's try this again sometime. For now, I should be taking my leave. My roommate will come any minute and wake me up. It was nice meeting you Arwyn." she raised her hand for a handshake. Just as they shook their hand, the amethyst eyed female was covered in 0's and 1's before finally, she vanished Libitina Cerin has logged off. Victoria sat up on her bed to see her roommate looking at her. "S-sorry it took me so long to come. I got caught up with friends and we went for dinner so-" The girl stopped her roommate from blabbering further. "Its fine" she got up and went to take a bath, not before noticing the evident discomfort of the roommate. Even after staying with one another for 3 months, Victoria never did get close to her. 'And yet I managed to make a friend in Terrasphere in such a short time. I suppose I did one thing right today'
