She had been making decent progress through the forest, looking through the surrounding area for anything out of the ordinary. You know, as much as anything in an upturned forest like this could be ordinary. With her method for marking the trees she passed with glowing moss, she never strayed too far from the main group and was able to return.

There was something... wrong about this place. Besides the obvious, of course. Something thick and heavy about the atmosphere, beyond just the fact that they were going to fight a great beast. It was like a lingering, oppressive mist, made it harder to draw breath.

Over the course of her exploration, she'd had to stop a few times just to regain her composure. Half the time, she'd be so rattled that she wouldn't even recall which direction she was first headed, forcing her to retrace her steps through her markings. That really delayed any possible exploration she could have done.

This was... actually pretty fucking awesome? The layout of this place they entered reminded the self-proclaimed heroine of another game. What was it called? Requiem of Maj'Eyal? Heart of the Gloom. This was, literally, the kind of crazy game-dungeon layouts Seigi wanted to see!

Too bad it was tied to the origin of something rather saddening and threatening. There was no time to be all too amazed about this. Surprised? Yeah, sure. But considering what else Seigi had seen it wasn't THAT crazy. And once upside down it just seemed... still normal.

It was then that the enemy took advantage! Did they expect to... just get to Titanius without a problem? Yeah, that was silly. Nonetheless, while Seigi was part of the Soul Raid Party it wouldn't mean that she'd just stay back and do nothing. Small fries, nonetheless.

In unison with @Cain Darlite's blessings, the two of them attacked one of the bulp-flower-like beings. No hesitation. No doubts. Just, forward.

"JUSTICE!" She cried out, in silly fashion, as her fist dug deep into the monstrosity. Aided further her Heroic Strength, the monstrosity got literally obliterated into many tiny pieces.

A single punch was all they needed. Though Seigi wouldn't lose sight of their original objective.

Roland pulled the reins of his mare towards him, forcing its neck back enough that he could pet its mane. The topsy turvy world they were in was enough to spook the beast in a fashion that made riding forward difficult. "There's nothing to fear here..." Roland whispered to the horse, before adding, "Not yet anyway..." for himself. In the air he quickly transcribed a rune, that glowed a soft yellow as it formed summoning forth a breeze behind him. With it Roland, and Mare, strut forward at break neck speeds, reinvigorating the beast allowing it to make some distance.

With that they were off allowing Roland some time to think while he scouted out the way before. He really did not like seeing D'vangelline here, he had expected the lions to show up, they were residing on Astorean soil after all, but the princess of their former enemies was not a sight Roland welcomed. Sure, D'va was supposedly not in on the machinations of her father, but how many times have they been betrayed by Faldrean in unexpected ways? He was tempted to turn, and attack her here when the chaos of battle reached a frenzied pitch, but he had bigger more important things to deal with.

Like the fact that @Seigi hadn't just been blocked from accessing her UI after her run in with the 'Kase' Monster. They had in fact died in the real world. As far as he could tell the current Seigi running around was some sort of advanced AI, a phantom remanent of the previous player. It was something, Roland had recently only confirmed the night before. He probably should have sent a warning to the others, but there were simply to many questions regarding the matter to warrant doing so. For now he was trying to keep it to himself. One fight at time. He just knew one thing, he couldn't afford to die here in the game. Not today at least.

"Good Job!" Seigi gave @Cain Darlite a thumbs up. Alas, not even seconds after the Martial Artist had punched one of these things, another one appeared. In fact, they were all around them! Smaller ones... and big ones! How was the party supposed to scout like that?!

"Cain, let's continue to slowly advance and tag-team em!" Giving the Midnight Haired muse a nod Seigi jumped upwards, or downward depending on the perspective, and rammed both of her feet into the flower that had yet to bloom. This time, however, it didn't seem enough. Nonetheless, with Seigi's suppression, her sort-of Mentor should easily finish it off. "Do it now!"

Was it just her imagination or did Cain seem a bit different from usual?

So it seemed that it was time them to kill an old god and save the day, he could feel it in his bones even before he left the manor to join on this. It was going to be a long day, and adding to that fact was that his duke had to volunteer for the more laborious task. Well, that was grand; tapping his main flask to make sure it was full then following up with the other two spares that he kept for special occasions. However, he now had three different jobs he would have to get done. One of the more important keeping his duke alive and that would mean finding the safest path to the objective. So that what he went to do, he knew the forest well enough that he wouldn’t be seen and well there was a job to do and work to be done.

He had worked on the edges of the kingdom before so it should be too hard to find an area where the infection hadn’t quite spread to yet. Stopping close to the ground and taking in the flowers that were around him. It was a nice collection of the little things a few wild orchards and one or two dandelions. Picking one of the orchids as looking at the stem of the little thing so of it sap was spilling on to his fingers, this was good it was still as he expected. These little one were more sensitive to the changes in the land than he would ever be, so to see that it was still able to grow as normal was a good sign that the path was relatively safe. Keeping the duke insight was he followed along taking a swig from his flask. Well so far so good. Nothing had tried to kill him as of yet, and he still was on his first flasks, an excellent start to the terrible and challenging job that was to follow. The others will take care of the creatures, so he let himself fade back into the background he still had a flask to get through after all.

    The witnesses have arrived

Into the unknown they venture with each steady step. Dreaded fog and sulphuric stench became stronger and welcomed them further and deeper inside Naryu Canyon — an environment nothing short of alien-like in nature. Death was the red carpet that welcomed them, for like in the events of The Fade, nothing else other than themselves seemed alive. They continued walking, and killing that which one can’t tell if is either alive or dead, while they explored the upside-down forest. Yet there lingers an uneasy feeling despite the ease they had at killing the enemies before them.

Vision became hampered by fog the further they traveled and many have lost themselves while scouting only to notice they were running in circles shortly after. Suddenly, an ear-piercing shriek echoed throughout the entirety of the canyon as the ground shook for a few moments — Something is waiting. Before anyone could recover from the awful sensation, however, the world decided to deal it’s cards.

From the thickest areas of the upside-down forest, tendrils shot out at great speeds like blades and spears, lashing out at adventurers and piercing anything on their way. Meanwhile, some of them were much more furtive in their approach, coiling around the corpses of slain monsters and pulling them away towards deep in the forest. Thankfully the numbers of enemies had decreased thanks to the efforts of those confronting them, and thus the scouting team proceeded to explore the area.

As they explored, they finally encountered what appeared to be a massive lake — in its center, something floated unresponsive. If any of the scouts had seen a Polyptus before, they would instantly notice the similarities between them, though this one was up to four times as big. From the lake, tentacles slithered around, while some dragged monsters in the water that were slain moments ago.

One more, one more, one more. So close, yet so far away.

@Vina Skysong would notice that her dissonance sensor suddenly reacted as she approached the lake while scouting. However, despite the creature at its center, the sensor pointed somewhere else — towards what appeared to be a very foggy area. Besides the fog, it had a collection of indiscernible structures made of some unknown organic material. More importantly, near them was a lanky shadowy figure. It seemed to react being noticed, quickly making its way beyond the organic structures and vanishing into the fog.

    profile
    NAT 1 Event

Pat pat pat, he continued. Pat pat pat, he explored. His quick steps led him beyond every other scout, and thus, he was the first to reach the inverted lake. The unknown was thrilling, exciting and above all else, dangerous. However, his fixation in finding what was ahead turned out to be the herald to the disaster that would welcome them. That fixation caused him to ignore the little Sac’lings running about and accidentally kick one of them in the water as he approached the lake. @Rook the Quick

One more. ONE more! ONE MORE!!

As soon as the small distorted creature touched the water, tendrils shot out and pulled it further inside towards a watery grave. In response, purple lightning coursed throughout the entire lake while the huge Polyptus in the center began moving. The ground shook under its influence and the huge spore monster bloomed, it’s inside filled with sharp teeth with crackling and static purple energy gathering on its center. It roared in delight, a roar powerful enough that would reach every member of the raid party wether they were in the upside-down forest or not. Tendrils absorbed the lake water and increased in size, drying the entirety of the lake.

Meanwhile, any adventurer fighting the monsters would notice that the tendrils that had just lashed out against them started to grow in size and strength; some of them raised high up in the air, releasing an acidic liquid rain over every adventurer.

Some unfortunate souls, however, were ensnared by the tentacles and dragged away towards what used to be the lake… They could try and free themselves, but help would likely be very much appreciated. @Yukisa @Velka @Haru @Gwyn ap Herne

All Sac'lings and Polyptuses scattered when a deep groan could be heard coming from the upside-down lake.

Her companion's reaction to the excited boy had her emerald eyes locked on him, and gut churning. Something felt off. She would've explained this to the woman beside her if given the chance. The shriek had her opened mouth pursed shut within seconds. It rung in her ears, and seeped deep into her soul. Comet knew that the boy triggered an event that would speak for itself soon enough. After giving Alkaid a look of confusion she hastily followed him. Just in time with other scouts to approach a hidden lake. One that reminded her of the waters that weren't supposed to be looked into. They concealed a danger. A danger that wouldn't enjoy being disturbed.

She followed Rook as far as possible until a fear plagued her senses. It stopped the Archer from moving on with him. Then she noticed it: movement began, the large creature responding to its environment, large tendrils growing in size. Her long legs moved quickly to bring the white-haired woman to the fight, and others as well. Intentions revolved around ensuring safety of teammates - which would ultimately boost her chances of survival - but also getting fighters to the front. Acid rain burned into her milky skin like needles. She grit her teeth while facing the throbbing, annoying reminder of ever so realistic pain within Terrasphere head on. It was agonizing nonetheless. Comet aggressively wiped at forming tears - even if they did cool the spreading heat throughout her body - to mask such reactions to the event. Bravery remained important above all.

Working as a scout proved important in the moment to the pink-haired woman. Though she had her weaponry prepared for combat if extra hands were needed. It seemed most players around were extremely strong, or held as persistence as deadly as her own. "If you go out there be careful. I'll watch your back after I'm done leading others over here." she breathed out to @Alkaid Zexis nervously. Afraid, but so unwilling to let that suffocating emotion paint itself over a practiced, confident demeanor.

With Natiri by her side, searching the local area should've been easy really. At least, Luna had thought so, before she'd realized that the chaos of the battlefield and whatever their strange enemy was actively messed with the Tigress' nose and they'd had to stick real close together, without actually going all that far. Maybe it'd have been better to blast away the treeline or use the trees to get a higher vantage point, but somehow she had the feeling that wouldn't have mattered much.

Eventually, she came across a very familiar face, doing something seemingly incredible. Maybe it was incredible? She wasn't too sure, in all honesty. But whatever it was, it certainly had Luna impressed as she slowly approached. She'd come prepared today, as if she was ready for war, equipped with her scythe, some better armor and the best staff that she'd been able to find.

She approached @Kaede Hoshi slowly, trying not to startle the girl, smiling softly. "Hey Kaede. Fancy meeting in a place like this, huh?"

Darko had regretted he did not know about this kind of a problem earlier. He was then in the real world as Miroslav, finalizing his indefinite leave as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Miroslav Group. He had known that by his condition as an invalid he could not manage the affairs of the massive company he had founded and nurtured, and so for the meantime, while the numerous fractures of his legs were still healing, he had to opt out of managing affairs in the company. And so, with the massive load off his shoulders, he focused on the aspects of his health. But, as he was bored of the life where he could not move from place to place, he decided to move to his alter ego who can still walk.

Darko found himself, with all other people who would join the fight against this monster known as Titanius, in a forest near the site where they should meet the monster as a whole. Darko felt uneasy with the lack of information that he had, and so he decided to scout out the forest to look for something that could help him understand the situation.

He had finished scouting all the forest, and he saw that it was the same thing really: dead trees, small pink jellyfish-like things crawling on the ground, and sometimes an occasional log cabin in these dead woods. But as he progressed further, he heard a shout coming from a now dry lake, and suddenly Darko coughed up blood. Whatever that creature was, it was so powerful that a single noise could do so much damage to his insides. Hobbling on his cane, he moved towards the lake, and he saw a monstrous jellyfish.

This would be a pain in the arse.

If Iván was someone else, he would’ve probably loudly took notice of the strong scent of sulphur permeating with each step further inside Naryu Canyon. But he was already accustomed to his equally sulphur-stinking red mask, so he didn’t bother to take note of it. Everything smelled like sulphur and blood as far as he was concerned. What he definitely took notice of were the strange gravity in the forest, the fog that hampered his vision and forced him to run in circles, and the ear-piercing shriek.

He reacted as fast as he could, which wasn’t as fast as he wanted, and ended up standing in front of a massive lake. Is that a Polyptus? Momma Polyptus? Oh, no. He was immediately bombarded with memories of that Snow-Quilled Guardian in the middle of that hot spring down in the Spire and the aftermath that saw a colleague get stepped on, leading to her death. “This wasn’t going to end well,” he muttered under his breath, catching @Rook the Quick kicking something into the water, and just as the words slipped out of his mouth, so did the tentacles out of the lake. “Is this… Him?” he watched in awe as purple lightning coursed throughout the lake before the huge Polyptus grabbed his attention as it began moving. The ground shook, purple energy gathered in the center of all those sharp teeth, and its roar put every thunder Iván had ever witnessed to shame.

“Haru!” Iván yelled out as he saw his fellow Witch Ops member get ensnared and dragged away towards the lake, now dried up after the tendrils absorbed all the water to increase their size. @Grand Witch Majolica isn’t going to like that, their so-called Guide getting taken by some giant Polyptus. He winced as he felt some sort of acidic liquid rain on him and everyone else, but realized there isn’t time to cry about it. Iván channeled his magic, intending to use an illusion spell for disruption. His priority wasn’t to kill the monster, though he’d be surprised if he could do it right away. His priority was to get Haru back. One way or another. “I got your back, Brad.”

Majolica had been strangely silent since she and her fellow Witch Ops members entered the area. The dissonance upset her stomach, which was impressive since she mainly subsisted on a diet of mushrooms and candy.

Floating atop her broomstick, Majolica kept a close eye on the area herself and the rest of the Witch Ops. It was like a horror movie, which of course meant the monster was going to pop out suddenly and surprise everyone.

Hehehe, where are you, you dumb monster... just come out and fight already! Hehehe. I'll have to remember to take one of it's arms to Zeus to put up in the guild hall. Hehehe, maybe I can even use some parts of it to remake my hat! Hehehe.

    Suddenly, Majolica heard shouting.

    Hehehe, well here we go...

Abruptly, her Witch Ops sense went off. It was Haru! He was in trouble. Majolica rushed off in the direction she sensed and assumed command of the Witch Ops Battalion. Contacting the members through their stickers, Majolica relayed her orders.

"Witch Ops, the enemy has abducted Haru. Our first priority is to free him. Hehe, those of you with disrupting attacks, focus the tentacles, hehe, and get him free. Those of you that don't, hehehe, back me up. I'll probably need a heal spell thrown at me soon... hehehe."

Reaching the scene, Majolica quickly inspected the situation.

Hehehehe, I guess it's up to me to set the pace of the battle... hehehe.

Majolica hopped off her broom infusing it with black magic.

"Hehehe, let's get its attention, Broomstick..."

Black magic flared in the Grand Witch's palms. As she readied her spell, Broomstick's bristles twisted into a drill.

”Error Silly equals Error zero Error Xtreme Plumpy minus two Radical over Witchy Optometrist squared! Avada Cadabra!”

A great beam of swirling shadows issued forth from the Grand Witch. Directly underneath the beam, Broomstick rocketed forward. The spell punched into the monster as Broomstick simultaneously made contact and began spinning, attempting to drill itself through the monster.

"Hehehehe! WITCH OPS, NOW! FREE HARU AND THE OTHERS!

Her spell trained on the beast, Majolica taunted it.

"Hehehehe! Can you hear me, monster?! Hehehe, I am GRAND WITCH MAJOLICA! COMMANDER OF THE WITCH OPS BATTALION! Hehehe, AND I WILL END YOU!"

So he turned his attention to what seemed to be lady Gywn and some other players being attacked by tentacles from the deep, well that was something one did not see every day. Taking the next swig from his flask as he turned back to trying to find a much safer path to the core of the creature. It was Gywn she would get out, and for the time being, he had more important things to worry about. If the beast corruption was reaching this far out then, it was growing stronger much, much stronger and that was a problem. They needed to slow down its progress, or he would lose both his favorite bar and his bed. However he did remember the familiar feeling is his skin burn, well that was new. Turning his attention back towards the tentacles as they start to spray acid.

Why yes, of course, they would spray acid, for what reason would a creature for the void not spray acid. Shaking his flask with a sigh, it seemed he wasn’t going to be able to get through much of this day without an extra bottle or five. Wiping the mixture of what was blood and acid from his face as he pulled the remains of his hood over his head. It was days like this Aalam was reminded that he was not a hero and to that, he was getting pay for this. Pay a considerable sum of money, and that tends to make this moment bearable because then he could drink half the duke’s wine supply. That was going to be a happy afternoon maybe if he was lucky he could find a bit of that excellent cheese to go along with it. Well back to finding a path that was away from the lake as it seemed the thing could travel through the water. There appeared to be a good route to the left…

      Dissonance

    -15 EN for Disruptive Attack

As he was looking at the monstrosity before him, he was half shocked. This monster was the first giant he would ever face in this world of Terrasphere, and the immensity of the creature was making Darko feel that he was insignificant in this world. But half of the feeling was that of excitement. Miroslav had once experienced playing console games, almost always of the RPG type, and he was always wondering what would huge monsters in the game would look like in real life. Now that he had seen it, he was excited to deal great pain on this monstrosity.

But first, he would need to save one of the four people that was entangled by the tentacles of the giant jellyfish. They would be needed to be cleared from the way before they unleash a barrage of attacks. But first he would need to know who to save so that his spell would not go to waste. He sent a message to the rest of the party to know who should be saved, but as he was about to close the UI, he saw two messages. Apparently it was from two of the people who was trapped within the tentacles. Memorizing the faces that he saw within the UI, he was then determined to save them... not. One was a whining bastard and one was a threatening bastard. He knew that it would not be worthy to save them, since, from their messages he knew that they were newbs... or just plain kids. He determined not to waste his energy to save them.

And so, playing eeny-meeny-miney-mo towards the two remaining people stuck from the tentacles while preparing his spell, he determined who to save, and as he unleashed black chains chock full of rot, he freed that person.

Haru had felt it for a while now, but this odd feeling pressing down on him... he'd taken to calling it 'dissonance', was rather troublesome. Even now in spiritual form, Haru was plagued by this force that he assumed was unique to the region. Was this even a region, or a separate plane of existence? Given his method of coming to the place, he could even assume the latter. Everything was fine though- nothing could touch him while he was like this, so surely he would be fine.

A roar pierced through the mist as thunder does through clouds, and soon after came the bolt that followed. It was purple and slimy, and wrapped around the man. Haru felt shock just before the horrible pain of crushing and the cold of corruption running through him. He howls in a silent scream, but cannot speak like this. Many questions ran through his head, but none so much as 'can someone please help me?!'

Thankfully Iván and his Commander were already there. Haru fell through the cracks in the stranglehold placed on him as it flailed. Haru intended to go straight back to his own body to repair whatever dents have been put on him, but something came first- other people, trapped in the grip of the Polyptus. It only so helped that he had just a little bit of steam that he wanted to vent. After a moment of deliberation he decided to assist the woman out. It wasn't cool to leave a lady in distress.

So, what to do, then? The answer was obvious enough. To get its reach over to grab them all the Polyptus had far extended itself towards the forest's edge. Close enough that he could use the treeline to his advantage.Crash! Along from the forest comes a swinging pine tree that slams into the tentacle holding on to Gwyn, shattering its hold on the woman. Spell successful.

Haru sighs. First things first, he decides to return to his body. All he does is simply let go, and the world rushes around him as he is flung back to where he was. Waking up with a terrible headache he gets up, using Headwind as a support to stand. "Right... we should get to the others. No more scouting." Haru determines this with a new resolve to not let himself get caught up like this again.
