Intermission
The witnesses have arrived
Into the unknown they venture with each steady step. Dreaded fog and sulphuric stench became stronger and welcomed them further and deeper inside Naryu Canyon — an environment nothing short of alien-like in nature. Death was the red carpet that welcomed them, for like in the events of The Fade, nothing else other than themselves seemed alive. They continued walking, and killing that which one can’t tell if is either alive or dead, while they explored the upside-down forest. Yet there lingers an uneasy feeling despite the ease they had at killing the enemies before them.
Vision became hampered by fog the further they traveled and many have lost themselves while scouting only to notice they were running in circles shortly after. Suddenly, an ear-piercing shriek echoed throughout the entirety of the canyon as the ground shook for a few moments — Something is waiting. Before anyone could recover from the awful sensation, however, the world decided to deal it’s cards.
From the thickest areas of the upside-down forest, tendrils shot out at great speeds like blades and spears, lashing out at adventurers and piercing anything on their way. Meanwhile, some of them were much more furtive in their approach, coiling around the corpses of slain monsters and pulling them away towards deep in the forest. Thankfully the numbers of enemies had decreased thanks to the efforts of those confronting them, and thus the scouting team proceeded to explore the area.
As they explored, they finally encountered what appeared to be a massive lake — in its center, something floated unresponsive. If any of the scouts had seen a Polyptus before, they would instantly notice the similarities between them, though this one was up to four times as big. From the lake, tentacles slithered around, while some dragged monsters in the water that were slain moments ago.
One more, one more, one more. So close, yet so far away.
@Vina Skysong would notice that her dissonance sensor suddenly reacted as she approached the lake while scouting. However, despite the creature at its center, the sensor pointed somewhere else — towards what appeared to be a very foggy area. Besides the fog, it had a collection of indiscernible structures made of some unknown organic material. More importantly, near them was a lanky shadowy figure. It seemed to react being noticed, quickly making its way beyond the organic structures and vanishing into the fog.
NAT 1 Event
Pat pat pat, he continued. Pat pat pat, he explored. His quick steps led him beyond every other scout, and thus, he was the first to reach the inverted lake. The unknown was thrilling, exciting and above all else, dangerous. However, his fixation in finding what was ahead turned out to be the herald to the disaster that would welcome them. That fixation caused him to ignore the little Sac’lings running about and accidentally kick one of them in the water as he approached the lake. @Rook the Quick
One more. ONE more! ONE MORE!!
As soon as the small distorted creature touched the water, tendrils shot out and pulled it further inside towards a watery grave. In response, purple lightning coursed throughout the entire lake while the huge Polyptus in the center began moving. The ground shook under its influence and the huge spore monster bloomed, it’s inside filled with sharp teeth with crackling and static purple energy gathering on its center. It roared in delight, a roar powerful enough that would reach every member of the raid party wether they were in the upside-down forest or not. Tendrils absorbed the lake water and increased in size, drying the entirety of the lake.
Meanwhile, any adventurer fighting the monsters would notice that the tendrils that had just lashed out against them started to grow in size and strength; some of them raised high up in the air, releasing an acidic liquid rain over every adventurer.
Some unfortunate souls, however, were ensnared by the tentacles and dragged away towards what used to be the lake… They could try and free themselves, but help would likely be very much appreciated. @Yukisa @Velka @Haru @Gwyn ap Herne
All Sac'lings and Polyptuses scattered when a deep groan could be heard coming from the upside-down lake.
