Hmm. What a peculiar game. The funny graphics, the weird character creator, this full immersion thing was awfully cool. Was this what the young people were playing? Hmm. He seemed to have spawned without many clothing, and in a large forest. That's funny. This forest was amazing, Jack thought. It was beautiful. He remembered how he used to run around in his youth, and it was almost enough to make an old man emotional. Not enough quite yet. He couldn't quite understand the game right away. This wasn't like what he used to play, with simple controls. Well. It was sort of simple? He moved his character like his own body, except without the pain and suffering that usually came from his various problems. Old age and his own problems catching up with him caused there to be a lot of pain in real life. This body, however old, was not like that. He could stretch and crack his back without fearing himself tumbling down. So he did. He did some basic stretches, and had a bright smile on his face. It wasn't like he was young again, but it wasn't like he was as old as he was. He didn't want to spring around, he just felt like the giddiest young fellow. "Oh. Let's see here... what do I do first?" spoke the older fellow, as he finished stretching. He was quite clueless, but had a smile a mile wide on his face.
Rein couldn't but help let out a cackle as he strolled down one of the pathways in Brisshal. It had been a good day so far, he had met a few new players and got to know them extremely intimately. They really didn't enjoy that part, but Rein did. More importantly he had found out something new, they were not as immortal as he had once thought them to be. It made sense though, after all, they seemed to have a true fear of death. In this world that was silly though, since players almost always came back. Pushing his delightful earlier entertainment aside in his mind, Rein focused his sights on a rather peculiar sight. Standing in the middle of the supposed 'starting zone' he saw an older man built like an ox. It was an odd sight, he thought he knew all of the denizens in this area, here and only here, they rarely moved it made it easy after all. This man, clearly did not have the look of a player though, he was simply to old, the other one's didn't appear this age. A surge of excitement ran down Rein's spine as he approached the man, left hand tensing in anticipation, it was always so much fun to learn something new. Standing a few feet back he watched as the man did a series of exercises before him, only when he was done did Rein move forward. "Oh. Let's see here... what do I do first?" the old man asked himself. Rein let out a soft chuckle to his side, slowly making his around Jack. "What to do first?" he asked imitating the man's odd way of speaking as he cocked his head to the side. With a laugh Rein jumped onto a nearby, balancing on it with one foot. "Why not answer a question? Who are you?" Even though the odd boy said it in a jovial tone, he glared at the old man, clearly expecting a response.
Noah had walked down a simple dirt path in Brisshal, he had no particular endpoint in mind but was just going wherever the path might have taken him. He had been out in the forest again today trying to learn more about his rogue skill set. While the first day he was in this game he acted like a fool, chasing after deer trying to stalk them, today he had been after creatures with a bit less awareness skills. While he was still not as stealthy as he would have liked to be, he had made a small bit of progress. Since coming across Dempsey he really had not ran into too many characters, NPC or players alike. Perhaps this was due to the relative newness that the game was still going through. The servers had only been open a few weeks so it was expected that the popularity of the game was still yet come to fruition. As he walked down his path he overheard the sound of what appeared to be two men talking, well at least one man and one younger boy judging by the tones in their voices. Seeing how this region was made for new players to really get a feel for the game Noah was led to believe that these were indeed just a couple of new players out exploring the grass plains and forest of Brisshal, similar to him. Though there was always the chance that they were also player killers, a group of people that found more joy in killing other players than the beasts and creatures of the game. These people made noah slightly uncomfortable, if they took no guilt in killing players in here, what was stopping them from killing people outside or at the very least hurting them. Noah opted to at least check it out, though his skill was still poor as a rogue, it still gave him a bit of stealth boosts. As he approached the two he noticed that what he speculated was right, an elderly man and then somebody that looked like a preteen to younger teenager. It was not safe to assume that this was either one of these guy’s real age or gender for that matter. In this game you could be whatever or whomever you wanted. Noah himself opted for a bit older male that was a bit taller and leaner than his real form. There was something refreshing about being somebody that you really were not. He hide behind a tree out of sight but not earshot, perhaps he could learn a thing or two about these two individuals. The younger one already seemed a bit...off judging by his actions and the way he was talking. Perhaps he had a few screws loose in his head or something, if he tried to attack the old man would Noah just stand by and watch or would he feel obligated to jump in and stop the assault?
He looked towards the parroted response, seeing a white-haired fellow. Ah, another person? Perhaps one of those NPCs? Hmm. He seemed like quite the character either way, and had a jovial air about him. Perhaps he was a good fellow who would help him. He felt the glare shortly after, but he hadn't given any reason for the man to trust him. He was half naked, in the middle of a forest. His face lit up as he made a connection, perhaps he was a denizen of this forest? Oh! Was he intruding upon their pleasentries and being rude by being here? That wouldn't do. He felt it prudent to answer the boy's question. "I am Jack. I'm a bit on the older side and am trying to figure this whole thing out. I'm truly sorry if I'm intruding upon something. I can take leave if you require." He watched the boy pace around him. He wasn't to make assumptions. His mother had made it clear what they made of the maker, and the assumptie. The way he walked around was, even after mother's saying echo'd in his head, akin to a predator, but he held out kind words and even kind body language. He was just excited to be here, is all.
Rein cocked his head again at the reply, repeating back the man's words in the same mocking manner as before, "I can take a leave if you require." He parroted as he jumped down from his stump taking on a serious but curious tone, losing the anger his face held before. "You're unusual Jack. What are you?" The man, as he stated was extremely unusual, not just in his age or shape but the way he acted as well. An apology, was a rare thing for Rein to hear, at least before his questioning began in earnest, but the man was giving them off right away without any effort. Honestly it almost spoiled all of the fun of the exchange. Almost. The redeeming factor was that it seemed he could cut right into the meat of the matter, and have an upfront conversation with the man. His question was purposefully vague, most didn't give him a satisfying answer, one soaked in thought, but he had higher hopes for Jack.
It seemed that the elderly man was no savage, though his naked appearance might lead one to believe that. It was possible that he had just started and had the misfortune of starting off with no items or clothes at all. A very serious misfortune for somebody his age, at least a younger male might find solace from another male or female. Somebody with old, wrinkly skin...well they were just not really the type that people flocked to unless to help cross the street. Noah’s back pressed into the bark of the tree as he continued to listen. He was several yards away from the two men so he was not able to hear their every move as ideally as he liked but he was able to tell that the younger male had left his post on the stump and was once again on the floor of the forest. What was this kid? His tone seemed like that of an angry two five old. While he had yet to hear of anything threatening or dangerous there was something in that tone that just did not sit right with him. His question did not sit right with Noah, what did he mean by ‘What are you?’ What did he mean by that? Was he speculating that this old man was an NPC? If he was an NPC why was he naked in the woods? Noah would keep to this vantage point for now waiting to see what was going to happen, his conscious would not let him sit back and have this kid killing the random older guy, he would have to make a stand.
The sound of a whistled tune approached the group. It was Tyris, whistling jovially as he and his twin sister Rauri marched along through the woods, carrying what looked like fishing supplies. Tyris stopped, however, upon spotting a small gathering of men of various ages. A couple of them looked like newcomers to Falderen, while one... Tyris couldn't tell what the white-haired youth's origin was. Still, it was the older man who caught Tyris' interest. A guy like that coming out here for adventures? That was so cool! ...even if he did seem to have lost most of his clothes in his travels, from the looks of things. Tyris gave the group a big smile as he walked up to them, holding both hands behind his head. "Hiya," he said, before briefly looking back to see that Rauri had followed him. "What's going on? Did you get all your clothes stolen or something?" he asked the older man, curious about how he'd gotten into this predicament. Rauri simply sighed at her brother's forthrightness.
"What am I? Oh... I'm just a 70 year old guy trying to figure out this whole thing. It'd be much more difficult if it weren't for the fact that I had you here. Hmm. Is there perhaps a village around here? Gah, I should've read into this more." Jack continued to ramble on to himself before shaking his head. He was truly lost and all his help consisted of the boy in front of him and no one else. That... well, he hated to say it but he might be stuck for awhile. The boy seemed to be interested in him, so he supposed that was one thing? He had to think on that question. What was he? Well, he was a 70 year old guy who, beyond everything, was trying to distract himself from the horror that was real life, and it was working quite well. Not that it bothered him to actually answer with that bit, it's not actually worth going that deep into everything. If it were, he'd have probably done it already. He couldn't be bothered to try to answer the question any farther. The man wasn't being particularly nice, with the glares and the entrapping walks. That was simply not how things were done in the worlds, as far as Jack was concerned. He saw the two children closing in and looked down at himself once more. "Well... that's a good question. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing. I need to find my clothes and get to the new town and try to find some nice people to stay with so that I can get started on my whole adventure."
Rein stared in silence after the man had replied. He wasn't sure what he had expected, but such a boring answer wasn't it. It was blatantly obvious he was older, that didn't matter, what an ass wasting his time like this. To think, Rein thought this scumbag would actually be a worthwhile source of information for him. Rein's hand clenched tightly, as a small amount of electricity slowly began to form, trailing up his forearm. He'd teach the man to waste his time, and play with his hopes like this. Just then the two denizens appeared. Well Rein assumed they were denizens, they didn't act like ones but they appeared to be so. Much like the older man, the players rarely chose the form of such young brats. One of the brats spoke up, asking some inane question Rein refused to hear. This prompted the old man to reply in kind, boring Rein to tears. The anger slowly dissipated from him as the conversation dully prodded along, quickly replaced Rein's malice with agitated anxiousness. Deciding the trio weren't worth any kind of effort, Rein stuffed his hands into his jacket's pockets and began to stroll away looking for easier more isolated targets to harass.
Noah’s ears perked up. It seemed that two others were headed this way. While it was hard for him to judge how old they were by footsteps alone their voice said enough. It was clear that whoever approached was younger, though unlike the other youth of the group these did not seem...psychotic. They asked the strange old man a rather honest question, where were his cloths. Noah also had the same question, even when he started he still had cloths on. It would be rather crude of a videogame to start you off buck naked in the woods without so much as a jacket and pair of pants. It also seemed that the old was just looking for some guidance and help towards a village, Noah had been in that same spot just a few days ago. While he wanted to show himself, he was still waiting to see what this odd ball kid would do. He was getting a bit bored of just leaning here eavesdropping. He let out a sigh that was not loud enough for the others to hear, if things did not get interesting sooner rather than later he might have to dip out. Just as he was letting his guard down her heard the original kid starting to walk away and right towards Noah. Perhaps this could lead to an awkward exposure of him lurking in the shadows.
