As the whole partly then proceeded to the next area, Bradwynne was appalled at what could Dissonance do in an area. Although they were not that near to Titanius at the moment, the ghastly atmosphere around the area was implying that the Dissonance was now running amok in here, and so he must be ready for anything. And so cautiously, he advanced forward.

He then saw that the party that had already advanced deeper into the forest was now fighting off a huge spider. He knew that they should need help, and so he marched quickly. But as he was advancing, he saw three people bickering against each other, two against one. Knowing that the altercation could be detrimental to the party as a whole, he moved towards the three. He then saw that the single person was the leader of the Witch Ops, @Grand Witch Majolica, and the other two, he saw, had some form of a rose on their bodies. One he knew from the altercation at the road towards the keep of the Black Wolf Bandits, @Celestine, and the other was a person he did not know much. But from the glare of the Grand Witch, he then knew that this person was the Faker Witch that the Grand Witch mentioned. As he was moving forward, they dispersed, the Faker Witch battling the spider again. But as he saw, she became seriously injured from the fight. Being the type of person that did not leave anyone behind, he knew that she should be healed from her injury. And so, facing the girl, he held the girl's shoulder with his left hand, while dangling the crucifix in his right hand at the front of the girl, and then started to chant a Latin phrase as if he was exorcising an evil spirit from the girl. A light enveloped the girl's body, healing all her injuries. And then, scratching his head, he then said, "Well I thought that there's an evil spirit within you as the Grand Witch described earlier to me. Maybe, I was mistaken." He knew, though, that there was a much worse condition afflicting the girl. Bradwynne then moved towards the formation of the Witch Ops.

    -10 EN for ATTACKING
    -8 damage from Arachna

As if Dissonance cared not for any sort of standard theme, the adventurers were thrust from Attack of the Swamp Monster to Night at the Museum, a formerly vanquished foe being tossed into the fray before them. What was she called…oh, yes, the Blood Queen Arachna, who had been the first recorded World Boss to be slain, and who was responsible for almost the entire playerbase quitting the game. Dark eyes flickered towards Roland and Alphabet, gauging their individual reactions as the spider queen charged them, scattering adventurers to and fro. Rolling on the ground, the midnight haired muse brandished his lute by its neck, holding it as an impromptu axe. It may be an instrument, but in his hands, it was also a dangerous weapon, thrumming with the war song that continued to fight back against the maddening, errant atmosphere.

In the ensuing assault, Cain had lost track of Seigi’s positioning, but if he was fine, she would be as well. He could trust the martial artist that far, at the very least. And this time…this time, he was confident that this bloodstained queen would not take nearly as many lives as she did before. The veterans were stronger now, and they still had a veritable wall of meat in eager newbies wanting to take part of this fun event down Uncle Lovecraft’s Shithole of Humanity’s Regrets.

Still…this wasn’t going to be the only thing he was facing, and perhaps he did need to take a little better care of himself. With a sigh and a shrug, Cain twirled his lute in his hands, before rushing the spider bitch. Passing by Healer Q, the absolute madman, the Flagbearer of Miracles, the Basher of Lutes, the Heavy Metal Mage, leapt up into the air. Somersaulting twice for dramatic effect, his ungilded battle-guitar burned with magical fury before it smashed into the bitchy arachnid’s face.

A sonic blast resounded, the recoil powerful enough to send the muse flying back a safe distance, and he landed, ready to dodge and roll out of the retaliatory strike.

“Ahaha,” he crowed, “Didja see t-”

Oh, right, no point in boasting.

After all, no one was tagging him.

No, he was totallllllly not salty or jealous about that at all. Hah, if they didn’t need the notice of a Harmonics Mage, then that’s their loss! Cain was a stronk lad who need no partymates!

First a Lovecraftian beast, then some nightmarish spider woman. Something that was clearly a conjuration by this point, even to the newbie who knew nothing of the Spider Queen.

Loath as she was to admit, it was not the spider part that frightened her. Kyouko had something of a fascination with the arachnids, but the woman above, the multitude of eyes filled with malice, did give her pause. Add in the tendrils and perhaps a few too many times of watching spiders nab their prey within the blink of an eye to lead her to be cautious—too cautious—and she paid for that by being sent back from the queen’s initial attack just like any other.

Cards came soaring backward with her. In spite of the damage done to herself, and even @Comet nearby, however, the woman still maintained enough presence of mind that others were likely much worse off.

One in particular, @Kaede Hoshi, used a branch of magic Alkaid was all too familiar with, giving the woman an idea. While unfamiliar with the use of such cosmic energy for offensive purposes, she knew enough that between her Aeromancy and Astral Magic she could get a couple subtle support spells going.

Only problem? She was far, far away. And her target was busy levitating and playing with black holes.

Cue the in-game comms, such wonderful things.

"This Kaede? Good. As a fellow astral mage I doubt you need much explanation, but I'm going to need you to hang tight and rest for a sec.

Unfortunately, the next part of her message would only come after her wind spell had already started, beginning to yank Kaede away like an invisible hand. But mutual understanding, one might hope.

"Annnd, there. I've got an idea of what the boss is going to do next, and am sending you to what should be a safe spot via Aeromancy. Just trust me. I'll make sure you don't land headfirst or something.

Also maybe take a breather sometime soon, I can tell you're tiring yourself out even from here.

Haru finally arrives back at this place. The once rather pretty lake had been stained first by the beast within, followed by its blood and then it's hastily named queen. He still may not have any clue as to how this witch actually arrived on the scene but it was probably imperative to get her out of it. Preferably by death. From what the shocked soldiers of Astor told him, this monster had died once already, so surely it wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience for it to be destroyed again, right?

Arriving upon the scene of battle he decides that his recovery hasn't sped up enough. Regardless of how well off his body was his soul still felt a solid weight. Damn. It would be best for him to just recover for now and then unleash what he could as a counterattack against whatever move the arachnid queen made.

“Whoa, watch out there, missy,” Rudiford shouted as he nearly crashed into @Ilusa Nakhalee , unlike his co-worker @Astor Balthas , Rudiford was not into feline ladies. However, it was fate that brought him to the woman whom the king had personally tasked him to guard.

“Oh, hey. Are you Lady Ilusa by any chance? I am here to keep you out of harm and all that, king’s order. Actually, he paid me. Uh, Rudiford, by the way," he paused, looking at the giant spider eating people whole. "Also, hold that thought, there’s a giant spider with a naked lady on top, that’s definitely dangerous. I’ll be right back.”

Rudiford charged toward the spider queen with his bent poleaxe. As a complete newbie, he couldn’t exactly procure a better weapon. Even when he took the job from Astor, the king gave him the crappiest of weapon. The two clearly do not get along.

    "Tch- Stingy asshole,"
he clicked his tongue thinking about it.

When the one-eyed rookie reached the gargantuan arachnid, he swung his poleaxe as hard as he could at one of her legs. This attack was surprisingly effective. His success was mostly thanks to his game form, movement felt incredible, they were fluid and responsive and nothing like his bookworm body in real life. This dichotomy between the virtual and real made him feel incredibly powerful. The elated and addictive emotions that washed over him helped him see why his co-worker might be so enthralled with this marvel of technology.

Rudiford stood and had an internal monologue as his surroundings went to hell.

Almost nothing was going according to Portia's plan.

What plan? Well, the one that didn't include having almost half of her health meter by the beginning of their grand adventure.

The entrance to the museum only marked another turning point for her, as her eyes were once again blessed with the strange sight of modern structure, combined with Terrasphere's bizarre touch. There was nothing in the museum that they found inside the forest that she could define as ''interesting''. The fact that it existed in such a remote location was what truly caught her attention, something that only the approach of a newer monster to defeat managed to steal.

Following her companions' plan, the woman chose to focus her energy on magic channeling rather than melee combat as she would often do, bringing out the runestone acquired from the Inverted Spire to help her in so doing. Of course, staying behind with the rest of the caster force wouldn't reassure her survivability during this particular event, but at least it would mean she could save some energy to punch the hell out of the boss they were going to face sooner or later. It wasn't too much of a wild guess to think she preferred the first option rather than keeping up with all these strange forest shenanigans.

Huffing audibly to relieve some of that old tension left from training, the woman shut her eyes closed for a moment and began to mumble an incantation she had been taught, raising both her hands in front of herself, empty palms facing the monster in front of the raid team attempting to get rid of the monstrosity. A spell learned from her tutor, @Luna Avalbane, who had made the girl realize during their first encounter that perhaps channeling the source of her magical energy into one point rather than multiple ones could make a difference.

The hands of the female caught that ephemeral blue glow that had become her own energy's trademark, and as the words finished falling from the brawler-turned-caster girl, she called two spheres of light to her empty palms, taking turns at shooting each of them at the Bloodied Queen. And as it flowed from her fingertips right until it finally disappeared from her hands, she could realize something.

Her theory was right: her own magic seemed to be stable only when her life depended on it.

    (1986)
Mighty blows landed with fierce impact against the hardened skin of the spider queen as she tried to ready her most powerful attack. Again and again, she was interrupted by the constant salvo of arrows and magic while steel smashed against her body in the vanguard. The party’s tenacious efforts eventually paid off as the spider queen gave up. In response, however, she had just the right card to deal with her situation.

Immobile and ignoring any incoming damage, the former raid boss gasped as her chest inflated from the amount of air she had taken in. Then, she released her powerful voice in a deafening roar; it was scream after scream. The ground shook violently as the sound’s intensity was strong enough to puncture eardrums; Afterwards, the spider queen fell into some sort of deep trance-like state, unresponsive to any and all stimuli.

    Clack, clack, clack, crack!

The concrete world around the party starts to break as the eyes on the walls pulsated in eerie unison. Like a huge heart, they beated stronger and louder until a sharp shriek had announced their birth into this messed up world — the eyes mutated into a grotesque spiders with eyeball for body. As if commanded by their mother, each one of them attacked the adventurers, hungering the first meal of their life. One leaped onto some poor sap’s face and gnawed off his features, leaving but his skinsuit.

Creepy crawlies aside, the sound of the queen’s bones cracking under pressure, flesh and skin tissue ripped apart resounded within the entirety of the museum as the human half of the spider queen began collapsing onto itself. In order to survive and enact revenge on these adventurers, she had to once more resort to this shameful display for a queen, she had to consume her prideful humanoid half… Again.

Oh, but they’d have to pay the price for that, just like the last time. The Spider queen’s black skin turned red, indicating that she had become enraged. With her children keeping the adventurers occupied, she roared once again...

While fighting off one of the smaller spiders, @Bradwynne would have bumped into something large by accident due to the poor lighting. If he had checked, he would notice a large statue with a thunderous face of a man and a matching lightning bolt in his hands. A plaque at the base read…

Jupiter — Property of Norfolk County (1996)

When the Arachna’s shout had filled the entire building and the statues seemed to have come to life — their eyes flashed an insidious purple. Mana coalesced onto their hands and lightning crackled with divine intensity, revealing that the museum had several statues hidden in the dark.

With her last shriek, the now fully spider-form queen commanded the statues to obey her bidding again. Rather than striking their opponents, the lightning covered the dissonant queen’s body with crackling energy. Her mighty legs flexed and she jumped, soaring high into the air before crashing and causing both physical and magical torment to every single adventurer, a storm of spider remains, mucous tar, lightning and kinetic force assaulted their body all at once.

Gwyn pulled back a bit to take in her prey, allowing others to spill their own share, when she caught sight of the caster who had freed her. They had been a blip in the distance before. He seemed to be desperately catching his breath and if there was ever a time? It'd have to be now. She took the time to cycle closer and clap a hand down on the man's shoulder to catch @Haru's attention. "Hey, you the one who got me free before?" She huffed around the burn in her muscles and the adrenaline trying to snatch away her own breath. "Thanks for that. Keep your head down as best you can. Sadly, don't think I can much repay the favor." She didn't linger to hold much conversation and refocused on the attacking party.

The huntress's quick steps brought her back into the chaotic fold and she grinned wild and fierce as she caught sight of @Cain Darlite's brilliant back. She mirrored her action to the white-haired mage who had helped her before and directed the same motion of solidarity against the white back of the bard. "So, bets on how many old friends we'll be facing after her?" Her sharp eyes cut from her ally to the looming drider and her mood soured some despite the glorious enemy facing them. "Hopefully not too many, hopefully just the creatures. If I see either of those Falderen bastards-" She huffed and readied her longbow.

There was no reason she'd see either shape of those two men corrupted by this creature. It wouldn't make sense, but then again how much did anything about it? The dissonance. The putrid things serving it. The rumors. Speaking of putrid.

Gwyn lifted a lip in disgust, as impressed as she was, and returned her focus to her prey and those around her. To both sides she caught the brilliant glow of growing flames in the hands of mages and lifted a hand up to whistle sharp and shrill over the combat. "Eyepatch! Torch! I need a bit more hurt for this delivery, you two need some aim? I'll get it where it needs to be. Right in center mass!" She snatched two arrows from the quiver and drew the eagle-feathered shafts to the line. With a feral grin she overstretched the longbow and held her breath. Eyed the body of the self-cannibalizing boss.

As her fingers let loose the fletching, she snarled out the cue while the twinned, spiraling shot flew. "Cast, cast now!"

With a sigh, curses were mumbled under the man's breath. His healing had been minimal and his damage would likely suck, but putting those two facts aside he unsheathed the dagger hooked to his belt to go on the offensive. Only to be blown away again as the queen entered her enraged state.

Alric wobbly managed to get back to his feet this time too, but the aches that coursed through his body were starting to become more apparent as his health dropped further. He'd have to take a more defensive approach if he wanted to survive this, so after dashing in and getting a few cuts on Arachna he retreated and held his weapon in anticipation of whatever was coming next.

With a being more stilled than before, she removed her hands from her ears and reopened her eyes, turning to lead back into the battle. With an arm on either side, she prepared to unleash another attack, this time focusing on control. With her three charms slipping from her inventory sub-space cavity that was her back pocket, they floated around her, radiating with an orange-red hue.

Control. She nodded, taking another deep breath in an attempt to sway the unstoppable racing of her heart. Putting her hands forward, she prepared to make her attack. Accuracy. Wait. She bit her lip, eyes squinting and focusing on the spider foe before her. Suddenly, a call from behind her caught her attention. It was the voice of @Gwyn ap Herne. They had not really interacted from that time way back when Eleanor had attempted to compete with her... But that had been a very long time ago now.

Listen to your friend. She turned back forwards, the pair of arrows flying above her. It was as though time slowed, as Nalla looked over, noticing the one that the archer had named 'Eyepatch'. The pyromancer had not met this @Emil Trevelyan before, though perhaps they would interact more in the future. Being a fellow flame, perhaps they could be friends. But that was a matter for another time. Reaching a hand towards the flying arrows, two of her charms fluttered up, attaching themselves to the shafts.

Upon impact, the arrows would explode in fire, the charms lead perfectly to their target. Hopefully, if things went right, this would be as magnificent as she imagined. "Bang!"

The mage winced at the scream Arachna released, the force of it all driving him to take a step back. The ground trembled and Emil was tempted to cover his ears from the pain of it all. The tiny fire-cardinal on his shoulder shuddered from the noise as well, the trilling and squeaking from its tiny beak wavering on the agitated side. Little did he know that this was only the beginning…

The spiders that fell from her body and swarmed the adventures gave Emil pause. He held no love for creepy crawlers and the fact that these were so misshapen and wrong only made him want to kill them more. A few straw firebolts were flung from his fingers, catching the tiny spiders that tried to jump up on him and bite him. He was not having it today.

Another cry from the broodmother redirected his attention and his mouth hung wide at her molting flesh and the lightning that crackled over her new skin. Holy shit, they were gonna kill that thing?! He took another step back, fighting down the fight or flight response that thrummed through his nervous system. They were a raiding party, they were going to survive, and they would be victorious. Hey, this optimism thing wasn’t so hard!

Like a dog in the park, hearing the shrill whistle from somewhere to his left immediately had him looking in that direction. He caught sight of the blond hair archer ( @Gwyn ap Herne ) and nodded to her request, the grimoire floating before him on a pillar of ashen smoke. Sulfur perfumed the air around Emil and he chanted in a deep and rolling tone, smoke curling from the sides of his mouth and pouring from the large sleeves in his robe while the cardinal sung on his shoulder.

As soon as the arrows were ignited by @Nalla ’s charms, a flaming bullseye appeared before the Spider Queen’s chest and the arrow sailed cleanly through the middle, exploding as soon as it hit the crackling exterior of the once dead raid boss.

Well, now, it was twice dead. Emil smirked.

Arachna looked beaten down, but everyone else was much worse for wear too, after all that had happened. The massive attack that was launched knocked the wind out of her, and though she no longer had access to her UI, she had no doubt that her health bar would have been flashing red.

But things were almost done. Once Arachna was downed, there was a way out of the odd building they were fighting in. Hopefully that would bring them closer to Titanius, closer to ending this once and for all.

Only, that couldn't happen if they were all dead. She searched around for the ones who had responded when she had called out earlier, finding @Cain Darlite's familiar form in the fray, and after a little while also finding @Iván Carl. Both looked quite battered indeed.

Chanting under her breath, Ashiore raised her magical focus and sent the soothing healing energy towards the both of them. It'd keep them up and running, but they still needed to get out fast.

With a sigh she was wrong to think that the worse was left far behind...before she could even comprehend what had happened a few more enemies appeared in front of everyone and the whole museum changed its look due to the statues awakening all around. The Arachans Queee HP bar showed up which would definetely help their situation but after the row of a combined atack from the spider she lost a lot of HP herself. Weak from the attack Rias would look around and seek for someone who was free to heal, yeah...unfortunately everyone needed healers in raids like that and she was yet too weak to use any. "Right...guess this might be my last attack if that's all there's left to do....let's hope it's a good one this time." she whispered to herself and quickly shifted her body, jumping on top of a rock a little bit higher from the floor everyone were on as she tried getting a good view of the Crackling Spiderball, what annoying creatures.

Straight posture, calm breathing as her fingers slide to push the arrow behind and prepare it for another fly. Despite it being hard to concentrate with the current noises and atmosphere she managed to let her arrow pierce against the small creatures.

For a long time Libitina had been observing the battle field, checking on how the game worked and how the opponents were. She was entertained by the game immensely. All the opponents were challenging and just looking at them made her want to fight them. The setting, however, was not something she was pleased with. She disliked dark places, she couldn't stand the cold weather and she hated spiders, all of which could be found in the museum. She had initially planned to just observe the whole event but she just wanted to get out and go to the next stage(and also because the surprise attack made her upset), which is why she decided to actually attack. For starters, she wanted to get ride of the tiny monstrous creatures. She narrowed her eyes, watching them as they moved quick on their feet with their legs. When she noticed them moving to a certain direction she swung her sword, killing the pipsqueak.
