The chamber was lit with a soft purple light, allowing you to witness a glimpse of the vast space that was the inside of Titanius’ body. Its magnificent scale dwarfed you; you were no bigger than an insignificant parasite compared to it. Despite taking in as much of the sight as humanly possible, you could not comprehend what you were seeing. All around you, the wall had pours that dotted every surface. The wall, the floor, the ceiling, everything undulated softly. Every time it breathed, the surface contracted as wet mist filled the air. You could have sworn it smelled like the ocean.

As you began moving, it felt as though the floor was writhing beneath you, various snake-like appendages getting squished beneath your feet and reflexively flitting away as if in pain. The combination of the occasional contractions and the appendages’ slickness and movement made moving forward difficult. If you were to trip and fall, the corpulent appendages beneath you would explode as rotted blood coated your limbs.

If you stayed on the ground for a while, you would see a pearly white creature that looked almost like a miniature seal. Were you to pick it up out of curiosity, it would make a cute sound before popping in your hands, instantly melting the flesh right off of your bones. But just before you would start screaming in terror and pain, you snap out of the illusion with your hands still intact. If you looked around, you would see that a number of people appeared to be in a sort of trance or cautiously making their way across the living floor.

There appeared to be a lake filled to the brim with a green liquid near the center of the chamber, a couple of meters in front of you. Up on the ceiling, that was so high up that you couldn’t even make it out, four massive tentacles hung limply above the chamber. Ripened blisters, swollen red, covered their surfaces. As you investigated your alien environment, the gashes in the walls all around you slowly grew wider as the pupils within them rolled into their proper position and cast their cold gazes on you. Even if you couldn’t comprehend what you were witnessing, you instinctively knew that Titanius was waking up.

Finally, you noticed another peculiar thing in the far corner of the chamber. A fleshy red orb was hanging down somewhat close to the ground from somewhere up above, attached only by what looked like arteries or nerves of some kind. When it twisted its spherical body around, you finally realized that it was a massive eyeball.

While you were in a daze, a man’s loud voice penetrated your ears. “Oi oi oi!!! Cover your nose and mouth! The mist is acidic, it’s trying to melt us!!!” It was Ivan who was a reformed cultist working for the Ynglar Brotherhood. When the chance presented itself, he jumped to the front of the party and gestured for them to put some kind of cloth over their nose and mouth.

Within seconds the air was filled with moisture again as Titanius breathed deeply. Tremors spread throughout the chamber as gargantuan pus-filled tentacles rose from the ground, grabbing any poor sap who couldn’t react fast enough. If they had been killed, the pustules would explode, covering the victim with a liquid that would burn them.

“Kill the tentacles, kill it, everything here is connected to Titanius, do as much damage as possible. If we can somehow reach that eye in the corner, I bet we can do a lot of damage to it,” Ivan spoke. “Shit, watch out for the big tentacles, too! Alright, it looks like I am going to need to open a portal and get reinforcement because it doesn't actually looks like we can kill this thing...”

It was then that Titanius was fully awaken and the true battle began.

Haru may have known that this so-called World Boss would be big, mean, and ugly. The problem lies in the description here- he had no idea exactly how ugly this thing would be. Wow. Was that supposed to be some kind of eyeball? Was that acid gastric..? These little thoughts and more ran through his head as the alien scenery shocked him and many others into an unwilling silence.

He would had sat like that forever were it not for that ugly thing in the corner. Was that pus growing out of that limb? Haru may have thought the eyeball across the room to be an obvious weak point, but that tentacle was also unique and looked like bad news to him. The thing was disgusting and broke his awe, so he had to thank it in his mind. He would not be returning it's kindness however.

He bolts forward ahead of the others standing around. "This scenery is wonderful, but let's not spend all day staring. Hurry up and take this this monster down, people! Move!" He cries out to his allies to motivate them into action as he rushes forward to the pus, his deer Headwind by his side with saddlebags full of plants. Haru had been spending time to pluck greenery on his way back to the fight just for a situation like this.

By the time he was in range, Haru already had written the spell out in the air. Flinging the bundled weeds through the writing, they explode outwards onto the creature like grenades. Tough, living ropes descend to the white haired man and his companion who grab on and pull it down to the ground. He needed to disable this thing as much as he could. Every sense he had told him that this thing was bad news..!

It was a tad bit... gruesome to see her flesh melt off the white of her bones but she supposed that she'd seen worse things in life. Like gigantic, vengeful spider-women that don't wear bras. She shivered.

There was a putrid smell in the air that twisted Alpha's insides, burning the back of her throat and scratching at her stomach. When Ivan had spoken up, claiming that every breath and lungful she took was filled with some acidic substance, Alpha felt a tingling sensation. It wasn't the numbness that came with a dismal realization nor was it the effects of all the poison she had breathed; no, it was a dim light of pride that she had noticed something was off in the first place. Her head was dizzy, the walls seemed to squirm and beat like organs, and the soft (soft?) floor hugged her feet so warmly and softly that it felt like she was stepping into a giant dish of savory pudding. Oh. Her eyes were lidded, her back slouched, and she was awfully. . .

"Ew!" Alpha suddenly yelped, shocked back into sobriety as tentacles wrapped and tangled some of the adventurers around her, bursting into sacs of venom that burned through skin and meat alike. "Eurgh."

Alpha vomited. Right on Titanius' body underneath her. Some of the bile landed on the walls that were, strangely, also a part of the behemoth she had found herself in. She took a step back, hoping to get away from this disgusting place; to be anywhere but inside the beast's body but her step was met with a squishy squelch. Hector and Potato, to their credit, seemed to be unfettered by the rancid discovery.

"Oh god," Alpha's face was very, very green. She shut her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath of that sweet, toxic air, and grabbed the knife she had sheathed. She tossed Hector a very desperate, very repulsed look. "Let's just get this over with," she groaned, grabbing the handle of her dagger and, with a gratuitous spin of her fingers, jabbed in straight into the floor below her, running and dragging the knife behind her as she ran through the room. As the long cut grew more pronounced, Hector clawed at the open wound lazily, as if it were just another Monday and this was all a routine exercise they did to keep in shape.

    Poink.

The sound of something sailing high and landing in the water behind him meant nothing to Rook, nor did the burst of purple light beyond the mist. The screams, the erupting tentacles, the persistent blink of alerts on the comm channel: all of that was behind. His eyes were fixed ahead, ahead, ahead!

He pattered on until the forest twisted inside out, he skipped through marble halls and peeked around tall pillars, he jumped on the eyeball-twisting-turning heads of spiderlings like lillipads, one to the next like hopscotch, the sclera too small and silly for his swords.

(And no one saved him, because he played his game like solitaire.)

But he was not sad! And he was not hurt, and he was not frightened. He was Rook the Quick and he escaped with quickness and quicknosity, he slipped on his own down the throatlike tunnel like a slip-n-slide and picked himself up at the end and his eyes grew round and bright as he saw AT LAST, the beast.

    (Did the beast see him?)

See me! A black-haired youth in motion, small and jumping like a flea upon the monster's back. His gaze was fixed upon the eye (the eye!) the eye on its dangling stalk and he tumbled through tentacles the way gravity pushed a small child down stairs, bouncing one by one, all limbs and momentum and reckless spirit.

The deadly mist, which smelled like seabrine and salt, smelled only of leather to the whirl of steel. His own breath filled his nostrils beneath the mask the way his heartbeat filled his ears and the way his swords carved a simple pattern through the bursting pustules, rhythmic, simple, familiar. White ichor sprayed through the air like champagne foam as a happy Rook danced his dance of darkness.

    He wasn’t expecting this.

To be honest, he wasn’t sure what he had been expecting, but this was not it. Perhaps he thought it would be smaller or the rumors had been exaggerated beyond belief. When he realized that both of those assumptions were wrong, Emil was already standing in the room with the massive creature, a scrap of cloth covering his nose and mouth so he didn’t breathe in the poisonous fumes.

He felt small, tiny, insignificant in the shadow of this massive beast. And yet, they were here to fell the creature, to kill it for once and for all so that it would stop sucking up the magic in the area. How, exactly, were they going to do that? How were they going to make sure that the damned thing, once dead, stayed dead? Already one of the World Bosses had been reanimated, though it was dead, again, behind them.

The Mage shook his head, exhaled, and turned his thoughts to battle. As members of the raiding party scattered to and fro, Emil set his sights on the eyeball some distance from him. He wasn’t brave enough to stand within the acid pools and cast spells, but if he could skirt around the outsides and slowly make his way to the eyeball, he would soon be in range to aim his fire magic at it.

For now, he released two small flame blasts that connected with a stray tentacle that arched overhead. The thing writhed, trembled, and remained where it was, hardly affected. Emil gave a quiet groan and the cardinal on his shoulder chirped in response. This was going to be a long battle…

The sooner i'm done the sooner i'm finished yes?

Before her, below her, maybe above her, but most definitely all around her was what appeared to be goopy, slimey, probably stinky, meat.

But can one call something that is still very clearly so full of life... meat? I have no words. This is the grossest thing ever. Simple as that. I don't know how useful I'm going to be, but let's get this done and over with. There is no "i" in try or something like that.

Looking for something to do, Yule realized that the adventurer lemming herd was in essence moving in two directions, left and right. Flipping a mental coin in her mind, Yule chose right. Just like that, Yule arbitrarily advanced with the disruption party while taking care not to make contact with the ground. Gliding on a small sheet of ice beneath her (she'd been reading the guide she copied again to great effect) she came in range.

"Let's just do our best, shall we?"

Maybe I could limit the target's movements with... Yes... that may in fact work!

Channeling, Yule lowered the temperature on the "skin" of the stalk of the eye-thing. It did -not- in fact work at all. Yule was far too weak. She was hoping to freeze it, but instead it merely shrank a little. Basically nothing happened. Yule frowned.

    Annoying...

Was the young ice princess starting to get fired up?

Scouting… Did not go as well as it could/should have. The place they were in was simply too bizarre. And more monsters spawned. Large monsters. There was acid rain that sizzled on her skin and there was chaos and the large number of people made it hard to move as well as she should. And a huge arachnoid monster with a naked woman ontop appeared.

She almost barrelled into one of Players, who shouted at her.

“Oh! My apologies.” She exclaimed only to be very surprised by the next words and also touched. Her chest felt warm and she smiled softly, happily even as the man, bodyguard sent by Astor left.

Her tail swayed in undisguised joy and she felt heat flood her cheeks. Absentmindedly she moved her hands to cover them, feeling something very.. Nice, but confusing. Her heart fluttered.

After the weeks of not fighting seriously in the game she found it hard to get in the game so to say, but she still did move her eyes to follow the assigned bodyguard.

Slowly she started to check and recheck her skills, murmuring under breath the aria’s… Her memorisation was good and even after the weeks of disuse they were returning to her fast. Her tail was still swaying in show of happiness.

Of course that all made her rather inactive. Everything ended… And then something odd started going on.

The bodyguard came back and she nodded, familiarising herself with hearing ‘Lady Ilusa’ as her name. “Of course Knight Rudiford.”

Though her actions stopped as she looked back at the area and just what had happened and changed. It looked bad, but she was not panicking, though she was bit impeded by those who were.

In the end the gallant knight @Rudiford Gwyndel pulled her and someone else to safety.

    …To relative safety.

She vaguely heard a mention of Cthulhu and her eyes were incapable of moving away from the horrible, horrible oh so horrible and twisted sight. It was huge. It was vast. It was like-

The floor was slithering beneath her, the cute seal next to her leg popped and melted her legs to the bones and the pain almost made her stumble, but then she blinked and it was gone and her legs were intact.

“O-okay.” Her voice was bit shaky, before she shook herself and grabbed her rod. Glancing at all bars, she saw the weird ‘dissonance’ thing and decided to get rid of it, the high number surely meant something bad. “Whesal elsï. Wehsi mensal. Wehsï wehso ür au re.”

Luca instinctively grabbed the handle of of her ultra sword on her back when the room lighted up. The frown on her face made it clear the disgust she had towards this place — this was the best (or worse) way to tell her that, in the visual world, not everything was pretty. She pulled up her scarf to block the acidic effect of the mist and pressed forward. “Ayaya, this time around I won’t make the same mistake…!” Her target was the the gargantuan tentacle closer to the raid team. Attacking anywhere was possible, but if something was that big… It had to be important one way or another, right?

She brandished her huge sword and tried her best to cope with the combination of heavy armor and ultra weapon. On her way, several tentacles sprouted from the fleshy floor. “Not under my watch!” The enemy was just right on her level. “Accel…” Her sword received a powerful glow as she charged her skill “Buster!!” Luca spun of her right heels with greta force, cutting down all tentacles attempting anything funny.

“Ayaya, nice work, meaaAaAH!?” She lost her balance and and took several steps to try and regain her footing. Oh god, no, nonono, falling in this mess of a ground-- “Eh!?” her hands found something — no, someone’s (@Rudiford Gwyndel) back. His hair was long and had an uncommon orange in color. Not that she could say that much about it herself. “Hey hey, thanks for the help boulder-guy!” he had quite the broad shoulders, so that was fitting. She let out a nervous laugh before standing on her own. She glanced around looking for her target once more “Now if you’ll excuse me…!” She darted off once more.

She managed to come a long way, but she started to feel drained for moving for so long — heavy armor used to that. With that in mind she stopped to try and fight back tentacles or whatever other kind of grotesque creature around before she noticed a gray haired girl (@Yule) casted her spell on the gargantuan tentacle. Due to her focus, she did not notice another tendril preparing to attack her from behind. Luca dashed towards both “Ayaya… Make it in time…!” She shouted, “OI, SNOW-WHITE! DUCK!” Please get down, please!

“Accel Buster!” Her sword glowed and her powerful skill was unleashed again. She could only hope Snow-white wasn’t cleaved in half...

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Iván knew that things would have to get way worse until Titanius was dealt with. This was the first mission, quest, he had taken of this magnitude, so he was relatively surprised that he was faring well despite everything. Being careful helped, staying at a distance helped, @Portia Ahrens dragging him to safety when everything went to crap helped. He made a mental note to thank her later, if the opportunity presented itself. Maybe a free bowl of curry at the curry house?

His thoughts were interrupted by the one-eyed mage from the Ynglar Brotherhood who had botched a teleportation spell days ago, leading to Iván losing his arm, though he was able to leave that place with his life. Something like that. Wait, wasn't that a dream? Then why was this guy whom he had never seen before in front of him now? Gah, I'll think about that later. Thankfully, Iván's nose and mouth were already covered, both by his red mask and his exaggerated turtleneck. He was immune from all kinds of stink, being stink himself.

After the one-eyed mage told them what they, he, needed to know, Iván immediately made his way towards the Gargantuan Pus Tentacle, channeling his expert illusion magic in a decision to disrupt along with summoning a magical familiar, a smaller version of the Spire's Snow-Quilled Guardian, to supplement his attack. He knew it was pretty much his purpose, his role, in this raid, disrupting everything as much as possible. He wasn't going to fail the Aristocracy again, @Grand Witch Majolica and the Witch Ops, and certainly not King Astor who was "endorsing" the curry house. I must, I must, I must.

"Oh, hey, Brad," Iván deadpanned, noticing @Haru beside him.

    She wasn’t prepared.

Anyone who said they were was a damn liar. From what they’d been through to this point would have any storyteller struggling to keep his audience immersed in his tale. It all sounded so ludicrous, an Upside-Down Forest indeed. An undead half human half spider? Slimy and no doubt lecherous tentacles? Back in The World she was a bookworm, to be sure. She’d read books like these, but seeing it, feeling it. God, why didn’t she just run?

The martial artist looked towards the girls she’d saved and, just a little, groped. Okay, so that felt good. But that didn’t stop the logical part of her mind from screaming at her that she simply wasn’t ready for what lay ahead. Rellan battled that side of her mind to the point of mental exhaustion, but she’d stuck with it. The floors were gross, the walls were gross, why the fucking balls is everything so gross? She stopped, blinked, then threw up her hands wondering why she was internalizing everything. That wasn’t her.

“Why the fucking balls is everything so gross?!” she cried out, stamping her foot childishly. She gave an undignified squeak as one of the tentacle thingies looked dangerously close to bursting before she scrambled off. “Ugh, I swear on my mom’s left tit, I’m gonna…”

The world seemed to snap back into existence as a voice rang through the cloud that had kicked up in her mind. She shook her head and stared dumbly at the man that was yelling at them to cover their mouths with whatever they could. Her brain, lagging a few seconds behind everyone, caught up and she slowly followed his instructions before taking in her surroundings. Still a little foggy Rellan looked around and saw the eye that the man was talking about. Gritting her teeth she shook her head heavily again before trudging off towards the what might as well have been a Giant Glowing Weak Spot that said HIT THIS TO KILL ME in bright neon, but first she had to go through another tentacle, this one grosser than the last somehow.

She stopped only to rip off the bottom half of her shirt to tie it around her face in a makeshift bandana, then rushed in for the attack.

    Duck?!
Yule whirrled around to see the charging sword demon running right at her....

    "!?"

Didn't have to tell her twice, Yule ducked.

    "Goose!"

As she crouched down, a series of ice steps formed in front of her giving @Luca Siebrandt aerial clearance to sail over Snow White's head.

Watching violet girl come down from the air like a glowing extinction-level event, Snow White wondered if there was ever a clumsy dwarf in the disney film.

But, seeing the train off the rails swordswoman land, Yule's eyes widened. Well, they did before after some further thought, Yule tilted her head. Apparently the girl who was trying to kill her was doing so to save her life. That was a troubling amount of information to process. What was she supposed to say? There was one phrase that she thought might fit.

    "Thanks, I think. Probably."

    Yule smiled.

"Well, let's not let all this go to waste."

With a flourish as though she were violently sweeping the contents off the surface of a table, Yule threw the ice steps at the tentacle with her magic.

Unfortunatly, it bounced off its bulbous flesh. These rolls were super duper lame, but Yule continued to utilize trial and error as she sought the best possible means to harm the awful abomination.

Something-- a silent scream, perhaps-- had been building inside Janet ever since she'd released the two girls she'd saved outside the crumbling museum. So many people were trapped in there. They'd escaped the foul green acid which had swallowed the structure like hissing quicksand, but in the time between... This mist. The brunette's helm provided no protection from this foe, a dense fog which had plagued them since they'd first entered the Canyon, since the fight in the modern hall. She'd seen it closing in on the people left inside and that image seemed burned into her vision. Perhaps the feeling wasn't just the need to scream-- it was dread, bitter and draining, which made her branch feel so heavy and her conscience feel so dull.

Well, she could at least be thankful that she, @Grand Witch Majolica, @Rias, and many of the others had escaped. Part of Janet balked before entering the final tunnel down to Titanius, and it turned out that was for good reason. She covered the front of her helm with her hands, visibly gagging as the enormous chamber was revealed. Disgusting! Unlike others, Janet was not fooled by the tiny white creatures-- the Grand Witch had warned her very clearly about the Dissonance, about the horrors of Titanius. Nothing born here in its foul belly could be trusted.

    And so the battle began.

"All right!" Janet cried and jolted forward after @Haru as he called them to action, raising her branch high as she ran. Even as she moved, her mind recoiled at the mere sight of the quivering tentacle poised above them. Its sides shimmered with a thin layer of mucus, engorged with pus. "Ew, ew, ew. This is so-- I can't believe how repulsive--" She broke off, breathing heavily. "Oh! Is that Strangleweed?" Janet brightened. It was what the spirit mage had taught her on their first ride to Naryu Canyon. Remembering how they'd worked together at initiation, she pointed her branch at the bundles of vegetation, channeling her own raw nature magic to join Haru's. She seized onto one of the vines which dangled before her and hauled on it as well, trusting in Haru's plan despite her own revulsion. He's called Guide for a reason.

She smelled something unpleasantly familiar and turned to see @Iván Carl there as well. "That's Haru!" she cried angrily, not getting the joke.

The inside of Titanius appalled Sean. Everything around him seemed to contrast so much with the rest of the world. This isn't right, he thought to himself. This isn't supposed to be in this world! He began to move around the nearby acid pool, trying to close the distance between himself and the giant eye-Wait, why does this thing have an eye on the INSIDE of it? Isn't the purpose of eyes to see AROUND you? Sean shook his head, dismissing the thought for now. He had to close the distance, and fast.

Well, out of the frying pan and... Someone already said that, apparently. "This thing is Titanius?" Corvella didn't want to keep her attention to the grotesque appearance of the thing, but it's very disturbing. One-eyed Ivan from the Ynglar Brotherhood came to get reinforcement. "Guess it's kicking time, then." Switching on her investigation mode, she scanned for any part that posed the most threat to the group. There it is, the gargantuan pus tentacle. It's seems to be charging energy for the next strike.

Remember the formation. Corvella, along with the Witch Ops members @Janet Reilly, @Iván Carl, and @Haru advanced towards the gargantuan tentacle, while keeping the planned formation intact. The magic casters on the back, and Corvella herself in the front. The first priority is to stop the tentacle from unleashing any attack it has been charging. Upon closing the distance, the Witch Ops engaged the tentacle to disrupt it. "Witch Ops, assemble!" She always wanted to say that line from a superheroes ensemble movie.

Titanius' body was massive, but it provided the environment the knight just needed to move fast and keeping herself on the front. In no time, she already found herself standing before the towering tentacle. She saw the people feet away from her began launching their assault. "All right, let's get into it." With a running start, the barely-equipped knight dashed into the tentacle before propelling herself above, grabbing into it high above, the wings of her shield extended. With the bladed edge, she delivered a cut into the gargantuan tentacle before jumped off to land and back into the formation.
