He wasn’t fast enough to dodge the tentacle that crashed down next to him, the explosion of pus making him wince and then retch. He had gotten it in his mouth! Spitting, cursing and staggering away from the now-defunct appendage, he turned his single eye to the great eye in the corner.

He was still out of range of it, but, slowly, he was making his way. Hopefully another round or so would allow him to get within casting range and really put some hurt on this thing.

Granted, he probably shouldn’t have been wandering closer. He was a mage, after all, and he was squishy. One good hit and he’d be done for. Licking his lips (and gagging at the taste), he summoned forth more flames from his grimoire and allowed them to rain down on the body of the ancient beast.

Another burst of air twirled around his hands as he furrowed his brows and focused on his incantation. It burst forward in a single, slashing arc, but seemed to do little to nothing. It was far less satisfying than taking things into his hands and tearing it apart with his sword.

He flashed a smile at @Portia Ahrens and reached over his back, latching on to the hilt of his ultra greatsword. "Don't worry, m'lady," he said as a glint of steel peeked from the sheath, "I still do plenty of slashing." With one, wide sweep, he drew the sword from its resting place. The massive greatsword was heavy but comforting in his hand. It gave him the confidence to shift into a more martial stance, holding the weapon before him with narrowed eyes. "I'm not finished just yet, stupid eye!"

Instead of charging straight at it, though, he took a step before the panting @Rellan Shard and grinned. It wasn't much protection, but he would at least be able to try and do something while she caught her breath.

The attack on Titanius was vicious, but with such a massive health pool and all manner of tortures the Ancient Dissonance was subjecting the party to, it felt more as though he was toying with them than battling them. When the pus-filled tentacle was brought down, a rookie by the name of @Raid completely decimated the giant much to the surprise of everyone who were there, at least the ones who were paying attention anyways. It seemed that the youth was well on his way toward becoming something great, until Titanius took note of his damage attempted to flatten him with another large tentacle. Fortunately, @Corvella managed to intercept and save him from an untimely demise.

Although the adventurers expected Titanius to utterly decimate them, it was rather passive. The massive eye in the corner was closed, as though it was concentrating on matters beyond the unimportant battlefield. While Titanius appeared to be occupied, seven figures appeared on the battlefield. They appeared humanoid, with long white hair that hasn’t been wash in years and long, unkempt nails. Their nakedness also displayed nothing but flesh and bones, they barely look human.

The most distinguishing feature that they all shared was absence of eyes. If anyone met their gaze, they would only see two empty voids staring back at them. Peculiarly, rather than attacking the group right off the bat, they shrieked and ran around, singing praises in Titanius’ name.

“Oh lord and savior, who thou hath brought me here and bless me with eternal life, embracing me with thou life force. Let us worship thee and punish the sinners who doth not kneel before thy greatness. Let us bathe in their blood and dedicate their flesh as offering to thee,” they chanted with hollowed voice.

Scattered around the vast battlefield, these mysterious people spoke various versions of such a speech, but the core message remained the same. Afterward, some of these cultists began kneeling and prayed while others looked at the invaders with their empty eyes.

Finally, those who was deeply affected by the dissonance could feel its maddening effect beginning to manifest within them. The ones who were lightly affected experienced frightening hallucination while those more affected could feel their body beginning to change in shape.

At 10+ pus-filled boils began appear in several places on their body. At 15+ tentacles would burst from these boils and wrapped tightly around their limbs, hindering them. As the dissonance grew, they could feel themselves fusing with their surroundings, it became difficult to feel where their body stops and Titanius’ begins.

As the battle raged on, Ivan, a somewhat famous Astral Mage from the Ynglar Brotherhood, kept watch on Titanius’ bizarre extraplanar magic. Something felt incredibly off about the entire ordeal for him. According to the rumor he heard from the adventurers, Titanius has supposedly been weak for the past hundreds of years because the heroes from Tertoria kept on defeating him, which was the thing that had kept its influence and effect on the world in control. According to the people who keep on defeating Titanius once every couple of decades, he always come back in one way or another.

It last rebirth was an irregularity, however, its power has grown exponentially in the past few months, so much that Tertoria had had to make a deal with Astorea to get their help vanquishing it. How is it possible for Titanius to become so strong? That was the question that continued to plague Ivan’s mind. While he continued to dwell on his thought, he could feel great Astral energy welling up beneath the crawling floor.

Uuh, I am feeling some kind of weird energy beneath the floor. Be on alert? Something feels very off here. Can anyone here do the adventurer thing and contact Lenestra from the Brotherhood? I need to consult with my colleagues about this…

It was the first time you have seen Ivan so perturbed by his inability to figure out what was going on.

Just then, you could feel a massive rumble beneath your feet foreshadowing an ill-omen. Something is about to happen, but you don't know what it is,and your ignorance terrifies you greatly.

Now monsters were spawning out of the flesh. Great, just great. Aristides grimaced at the sight of the terrifying cultists as they began to rise from the nothingness and begin to chant. Those eyes were just horrific. What's worse was the sight of what was happening to the other players around him. Some of them were growing boils, others had tentacles bursting out of their skin. It made him almost grateful for the acid rain burning at his flesh--at least it reminded him that his skin was still there. Man, whoever had designed this thing was a sadist at best.

Taking the last mad dash to where Titanius' enormous closed eye was resting, he pulled back his fist to collide with it with as much force as he had in his body. His hand felt like it was pushing into something living. Even though it wasn't real, it felt like it was alive, and that made his body stiffen with a strange emotion. Dread? Disgust? That didn't seem right.

It was just a game. He didn't have to feel guilty. This thing wasn't alive. It was just a monster that needed slaying, that was all! And he had a pretty good idea on how to do that.

The sinking feeling, the unease she felt, grew and grew until they turned from thoughts and whispers into horrible visions. Specters of her past, pulled from real world memories played out before her eyes.

Arguments with her parents. The .4 GPA that derailed her life. Broken friendships, cheating lovers, bones broken and holes left in walls.

Madison screamed in agony, reliving the worst moments of her life in rapid succession. She fell to her knees, hands clutching her face, warm tears streaming down her cheeks.

    And then--clarity.

    Hot, stinging clarity.

The witch grit her teeth and stifled another scream as the acid rain drenched her clothes and burned her flesh. She rose to her feet and tried to find cover between some undulating clump of tissue along the far wall.

It was seconds later that she found herself able to open her eyes without them melting out of her sockets. Her sapphire gaze darting from person to person, she laid eyes on @Luna Avalbane and the flower growing out of her eye socket.

And then the plague witch had an idea. A horrible, wonderful, terrible, magical idea.

"Hey, s'cuse me," she barked at the white-haired woman. "Can I borrow your flower for a minute?"

Without waiting for a response, Madison drew a fresh hand of cards, a standard ten-card celtic cross spread. The cards floated in the air, swirling in a cyclone of green energy. A thick cloud of pollen burst from the stamen of the flower, following Madison's every whim as it traveled through the air.

With a flick of her wrist, the briar witch cast the second half of the spell. The cards exploded in emerald light and slid back into her deck. The pollen cloud vibrated with magic, swirling faster and faster before splitting into three bolts of yellow, wrapping themselves around @Emil Trevelyan, @Sean Poteitoku, and @Portia Ahrens.

Luna could have another pollen burst later as thanks, if she wasn't already pissed off at the witch.

A hiss of pain passed Emil’s parched lips. A section of his skin felt as if it were on fire. His attention dropped to his forearm, his free hand yanking back the sleeve of his dove grey robe to see the pulsing pus bubble there on his flesh. He pressed it lightly, feeling the pain from the touch radiate through him. Swallowing, he felt that first kernel of fear settle in his stomach, his slow golden eyes lifting upwards to the massive ancient monster that still seemingly slumbered in the corner.

    What was happening to him?

Suddenly, thin waifish humans appeared within the…room(?) and began to run around and chant. Emil watched them, a single eyebrow raised. What disturbed him the most was their missing eyes, the two voids that sat within their skull, lacking ocular function. However, they didn’t run into adventurers or even the Great Beast. They had acquired sight beyond sight from their devotion. The Magus found that…interesting.

Shaking himself from his stupor, he looked at those around him and cleared his throat, the grimoire once more rising before him, the ashen white smoke that allowed it to levitate forming a podium as such for the massive book to rest upon.

Gentlemen, Emil murmured in a cultured though determined voice. I believe it is time for these cultists to rest. And he allowed a massive fireball to shoot from his begin and impact the ground where the cultists sat in their devotion, their horrid screams music to his ears.

As the acid hit Sean, he winced a small bit. I've endured worse... I can do this. Noting the cultists, Sean clutched his head. What the hell is going on? Why do people... Er, things, worship a demon of this caliber? I need to take the cultists out. Looking around a bit, Sean notices a small group of allies attacking some cultists. "Yo!" He called out. "I'm joining you, don't worry!" He sprinted to the cultists the small group was aimed at and stopped around five feet away. "Foul demons, begone by my blade!" He yelled as he performed a wide series of attacks at the cultists. "Die!" He screamed, slashing away.

As the battle wore on, Majolica watched as several cultists joined the battle.

Hehehe, what now? Are they going to attack us too?

The answer was yes, they were also going to fight, except apparently one of them. Majolica eyed the cultist for a few moments as he kneeled and prayed.

Hehehe, maybe I can just go ask him to stop and he will. Hehehe, I'm the Grand Witch after all! I'm sure he'll listen when I command him to do something! Hehehe, besides, the dummy should know that the monster he's praying to is evil and is going to get destroyed soon anyway.

    Majolica turned to the battalion.

"Hehehe, I'm going to go try and tell that cultist to stop! Hehehe, I'm sure he'll listen to the great Grand Witch Majolica! Maybe even he cuts his hair and clean up, he can join the witch ops too! Hehe, he'll have to put on some clothes though. Hehe, gross. Okay, Hehehe, I'm heading out! Hehehe, keep up the hard work and don't stop doing your best! Hehe, I'll be right back!"

With that, Majolica recalled her broom. Sitting down, the broom took off, flying over and around obstacles.

Hehehe, why did he have to sit in the bad area... hehehe...

Flying directly into the hazard ridden zone, Majolica coughed and her eyes watered. Even so, she kept moving forward to try and talk some sense into the cultist. Reaching the cultist, Majolica channeled her black magic to make herself look awe-inspiring and commanding. Then, coughing, half from the poison fumes and half from trying to get his attention, Majolica spoke up.

"Hehehe, hello. I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, commander of the Witch Ops Battalion and future ruler of the world! Hehehe. I've flown all the way over here into this gross poison area to tell you, hehe, to stop doing bad things."

Majolica flew close to the cultist and gently but firmly bopped him on the head.

"Hehehe, stop. If you quit, maybe I can find a place for you in the Witch Ops. Hehe, you'll have to put on some clothes though. Hehehe, and stop worshiping abominations. Hehe, you can worship me if you want though. I'm a much better boss, hehehe, and I have mushrooms and candy! Hehe, so quit it and let's get you some clothes, dummy! Hehehe!"

"I love cultists." Alpha leaped pass the distorted, eyeless group of crazies in front of her, opting to slide diagonally closer to the gigantic eye. The urge to poke it was too tempting. If you saw a huge eye, what would you do? Poke it, of course. And maybe lick it.

"I love the toxic fumes!" she sang to the tune of I Love The World.

    "I love big acid pools!"
she slipped through the narrow divide between the acidic pools and the fleshy underbelly of Titanius, barely getting across with the heels of her shoes intact.

"I love when monsters cry!" To be honest, she wasn't that awfully excited about seeing death (unlike some magical girls, ahem). But it sounded good and that was what mattered. Gotta make the song work with these new lyrics and artistic license and creativity is only natural in an artist's workspace. Alphabet Chocolate was a modern avant-garde musician.

"I love this nasty place, and all its dissonance! Boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da!"

As she reached the eye's immediate area, she looked back to see Potato and Hector missing. She paused. Where did they go?

There was a bark, a neigh, and a hoot of an owl. She looked forward. Ah. They beat her.

"I love the tentacles!" she jabbed her dagger through the living walls. "I love the ugliness!" she sliced through the floor as she closed the distance between her and her target, staring straight into Titanius' eye with glee. She really, really wanted to lick it. Who didn't want to know what an eldritch abomination tasted like? Alpha would be the sole person with bragging rights on what Titanius tasted like when they were done with it.

"I love to fight things!" she raised her blade above her head, intent on maiming this organ before she could bring it home and cook it. Just got to detach the nerves and all before she had dinner; Titanius' smell at already deprived her of her breakfast and lunch (the vomit probably still sticking to Titanius' body), it only made sense that the creature would feed her in reparations. "I love the start of spring!" that made no sense in context but it rhymed.

And then, as the acid burned through parts of her clothes, she began to salivate as she imagined how Titanius would taste like boiled. Lobster? "Boom-de-yah-da!"

Landing in zone 10, Daegon flipped ond landed with a sickening squish that made him feel a bit queasy. Holding his stomach a bit he watched @Jericho Cross run up not far behind, and another long haired mage was moving in their direction. Squinting Daegon looked for a User name and saw that it was @Raid. "That must be Zin," Daegon thought as he began to wave.

Suddenly a knight like player jumped next to Raid at just the right moment before a giant tentacle slams into him! A wave of flesh causes the ground to rise and fall from the force of the impact as Daegon flailed his arm yet again to keep his balance. Jumping up at the apex of a wave Daegon lands again with another sickening squish, and again that queasy feeling filled his stomach. After a brief moment a sudden realization hit Daegon.

    "Raid!!!

Daegon's outreaching hand stretching out toward his fallen friend. A loud grunt and a slight motion of the giant tentacle caught his attention. The knightly character that ran to Raid's aid emerged from the fleshy mass revealing a still alive Raid with half a hit bar. Whew Daegon huffed as a bunch of weird robed people began shouting and making noise. A group of red cultists appeared in the square next to them, and based on previous gaming experience, these mobs probably need to go down fast.

Oi Raid, stop being a pancake and get back in the fight!

Wiggling his fingers in a weird silly way, Daegon released a wave of entropic energy at Raid that surrounds him in a purplish aura. "Our resident Firemage should be able to do something with that," Daegon thought as he turned ready to move after what ever comes next.

Everything seemed to be going well when all of a sudden a giant tentacle came out of no where! It was heading straight for... Raid! Also some other guy but, Raid! "RAID NO!" Jericho reached out feebly, unable to help out his friend in time. To think the last thing he said to him was to hurry up, he didn't think it would be the last thing he would say to him!

But it seemed luck was on their side this day. The stranger had protected Raid from what looked like it could have been a fatal blow. Oh thank goodness, Jericho exhaled a bit. "Don't scare me like that again!" He said more happy than angry, he was even aware of the acid eating at him. He turned back and saw a bunch of... monks? Robe enthusiasts? Whatever it was it seemed that a group of his possible allies were going to try and slay them.

He charged forward ready to lend his strength! But... he was just a little late. Out of frustration he stabbed down at the monsters body. He wasn't let his efforts be a total waste!

Things emerged, like whispers that had once been people, carried human thoughts and human spirits, now were allying themselves with whatever the monster Titanius was. But Luna couldn't focus on those, could only allow herself to keep attacking Titanius himself through any means necessary, and hope that the gathered alliance would be able to stop whatever those cultists were doing to aid Titanius.

And she couldn't afford to stop now, she knew @Lucia Mierz was strong, that she wouldn't fall this early on. So she had faith. She wrapped an arm around the woman's waist, for a brief moment. "I'll find you." She promised, before leaping off, slipping onto the back of Natiri for a moment to help her get closer to somewhere that she could see allies congregating.

It was a weakspot, some sort of eye. She turned to Natiri, smiling. "Follow up for me." She smiled, before a magical circle ignited at the tip of her staff, her pet sprinting off to slash at the eye as she unleashed a beam at the Gaze of Titanius, narrow and focused.

If this area is a toilet bowl, I believe whatever we're fighting just flushed...

Yule grimaced, the tendril had fallen no thanks to her, and now a considerable amount of acid poison nasty funk was coming at her from all directions...

Raising her arms she did her best Moses impression before parting the air. The acid, liquid that it was, obeyed her will. Well, it mostly did. A considerable amount still splashed her and began eating away at the layer of permafrost armor she had placed over her skin. Even so, she was not washed away.

    "Tsk~!"

Yule clicked her tongue, it really smarted. It felt like fire ants from the chaos dimension were all over her. Which only meant that---

I need to get this battle wrapped up and soon!

Seeing a pack of cultists grouping up, Yule mischievously smiled.

"Oh~? Thanks for doing me the favor of grouping up. Time for a little vicarious payback, yes?"

Projecting a road of ice before her, Yule used a blizzard breeze to skate along the smooth surface toward the cultists.

    Get close! Don't miss!

Effortlessly skidding to a stop because she finally rolled well, Yule shouted just a little vigorously----

"I've got you and sideways too! Cowabunga Yule Tide!"

Pulling the ice road that she had left behind her, it quickly melted and roared into a surging wave. Yule hopped up ever so slightly as the last of her ice road footing became a surfboard, and like The Ride of The Valkyries, the girl surged forth. Stylishly floating over them on the crashing tide, Yule snapped her fingers creating a large iceblock. Nodding with a huff she shouted:

"Quickly friends! I've got them right where we want them! Please hurry and initiate the combo attack, because I am quite sure that I am never going to roll this well again---!"

Inspecting the battle field, Daegon leapt over a root like tentacle that was semifused with the ground and lept next to his friends and some other adventurers who just successfully took down the cultists. @Raid 's health bar has dropped below the 50% mark at this point and the acid rain isn't making it any easier. Reaching into a pocket on the inside of his jacket, Daegon grabs a health potion and hands it to Raid.

"Drink up! we need you to be big and strong to keep throwing those fireballs around," Daegon said in a jovial and somewhat teasing fashion as it was obvious was taking the game super serious.

Looking around the toom, which only further tests Daegon's gag reflex, he could see that the players were making the right call and aiming for the cultists while some where still hitting the eye and keeping up their dps. Daegon was curious what @Jericho Cross would do next and looked toward his friend.

"So mister spear guy, what squishy part of this thing do you wanna go for next?"

Daegon crossed his left foot over his right ankle and placed his hands on his head. A lot was going on in this fight and there were plenty of targets. Galen knew that the mobs were priority but Daegon, on the other hand, was starting to get bored by just buffing everyone else's damage. He popped one of his fingers with his thumb and shifted to his other foot. He was starting to get the wild hair up his ass that made him do crazy and often stupid things.
