"Looks like the boss is going into its next phase" Daegon thought as the eye in the center began freaking out. A tentacle whipped out and grabbed a player a couple zones aways. Daegon peered at the person and it could possibly be someone he knew or has at least seen, though there was not much chance to get a good look as player went screaming into the sealing and exploded! Daegon physically winced at the gore, "I think my stomach was getting queasy again." He passively held his stomach as black smoke began to fill the air.

The rumbling from beneath the ground became more intense as Daegon flaied about to keep his balance. His stomach squelched at the idea of what horrible grossness this phase would bring. With a sudden stretch and then stiffening of the ground, Daegon is launched a couple of feet into the air before quickly landing on his but with a thud.

"Wait," Daegons hands traced across the now smooth and glass like floor beneath him, cutting his finger on a jagged edge. "Did I just go thud instead of squealch?!?"

Excitedly leaping onto his fight Daegon panned around the room as the smoke cleared. Its gone, finally the gore and grossness that was the bane of his existence was gone! Daegon began prancing around as some Npcs spawned in the center of the room in a blinding ray of light. In his elation Daegon pretty much ignored the dialogue, not like he would understand it anyway. It wasn't until after a blaze of blackflame engulfed everyone in the room that Daegon took notice.... after running around on fire.

After a few moments of running around like a spaz, Daegon honed in on his malefactors. One snide looking bitch with a god complex looking face and a dude with a bunch glowing ladies around him casting magic and that honestly just looks like a pain. Daegons fingers flexed out aggressively as he made a mad dash to the center of the room. Leaping and vaulting over large jagged obsidian ridges Daegon aimed for that snide looking bitch. Leaping straight into her face he lands a blow that she seems to easily repel. A brief moment of despair, Daegons head drooped before he noticed a minute splinter of health missing form her bar, it hit but it was a long shot form being effective.

The storm of blades that landed down on the party did a huge damage on the archer as the sharp edges kept falling they would slash her smooth, white skin forming blood on her body and clothes. Rias fell on her knees as the weakness pierced her system and she couldn't stand up for a couple more second so she held onto her bow for support. It's a good thing she never became brave enough to open the realistic pain simulation on because now she would of probably fainted from pain.
"G-Great...my left arm..." she felt as it was hard to control her left arm since it got pretty bad and looking at it didn't make her feel any better. Being able to stand up after a bit she would speak loud, trying to get the attention of the rest members. "Anyone can help me out a little bit here...please?" waiting around wasn't in her character and despite having an injured arm she still decided to try and deal some damage to the target that most seemed to avoid, weaken the maiden as much as possible. However she wasn't ready to risk it again.

Careful was her key word now. Looking again at @Iván Carl it's like he knew that something bad would happen so he warned her and tipped to watch herself which she didn't...hahah ridiculous...her body was back to her offence posture and she started calming her breath while looking at the tree targets, something was really going downwards and the fact that Astor betrayed them...Yes, Rias was new and didn't get to meet Astor in person but she knew the story so even her feelings were hurt by his actions.
Her arrow was released and she watched it fly towards her target, if only the damage was stronger...that's right, I need to become stronger already. Come on Rias stop slacking, after this battle we go train our souls off.

The battle had changed swiftly and now three distinct targets presented themselves. While she had sustained a fair bit of damage, it would take much more to bring her down. Assessing the choice of targets, she decided that the best course of action would be to take out their source of AoE damage before all of her support got wiped out, which meant that they would have to punch through the defensive line of spear maidens.

With nothing else to do, she charged their lines before smashing her lances horizontally, as if to scatter them aside. It wasn't very effective due to the cumbersome nature of her weapons, but the attack wasn't completely ineffective. She didn't back down then however and soon she found herself in the melee, polearm and spear clashing in the midst of battle.

Jericho was not having a fun time wading through the acid that had claimed this area of the floor. The sensation burning and eating away at his health bar was definitely not one of the finer things in life. He watched as others like him focus fired upon the eye, seeming to do tremendous amounts of damage. Well, at least those people were, granted, his equipment was probably on the lesser side.

He was about to try for another swing on the eye when suddenly it pulled itself back up into a hole in the ceiling. Hmm, that was gonna be a problem to get to without some sort of flight he figured. But along with its disappearance seemed to be the vanishing of the acid as well. That was certainly a plus, still aching where the acid had done its dead. That was definitely gonna leave a mark. However replacing the acid was a sort of jagged surface. Probably best to try and not fall on it, the damage would probably be not much better than the acid he was swimming in but moments ago.

Jericho covered his eyes and flinched at the sudden appearance of the beam of light. Taking a moment for his eyes to adjust he squinted into its general direction. It would seem more people had arrived, though it became rather obvious that they were no allies. Jericho had no idea who these people were but, it seemed others knew them and this was a betrayal of some kind. Unfortunate, especially in an already dire situation. Whats more is they decided to open things with a bang.

Jericho was far too late to shield himself from the black flames that consumed the room. "Ugh," He uttered a pang of discomfort. Of course he would get to experience every type of burning sensation today. Looking around the room at the damage @Daegon Malak and @Raid seemed to be OK at least. But, another member of their previous team attack seemed to not fair nearly as well. But a blood stain upon the floor.

"Damn it," he uttered in annoyance. Now was the time to act. Taking the lead from those who had acted before him he went in for a swing on the light beings. It wasn't much damage but, it was something...

The Titanius Gaze was bombarded with attacks from every direction, it looked like the adventurers were winning easily. They all think they have cornered Titanius, they were wrong. Titanius retaliated and slammed a massive tentacle on one of the highest damage-dealing player, instantly killing him. Should she be there earlier, this kind of thing wouldn't happen.

Surprise surprise, the two people she didn't certainly expect came into Titanius' aid. Queen of Falderen and King of Astorea, both looked much different due to their transformation, but there's no mistaking it. It seems that this is the full extent of the dissonance, it can corrupt people and turn them against their will. Corvella did expect something like this, but not those two powerful warriors.

She stepped forward, ready to engage them before a powerful black fire storm enveloped the battlefield, quickly separating the adventurers. The knight could feel her armor melting, exposing her bare burnt back. She doesn't think that the adventurers could defeat those two powered up by Titanius. Yet, Corvella knew that backing down isn't her style. After @Ceres healed the burn wound in her back, she stood up on her feet and taunted Astor with illusory cat ears on her head materializing while mockingly bowing.

You better watch out with that mouth, Your Highness. Your collection of catgirls might be disappointed to hear foul words coming out from it, me-ow.

She quickly dashed, leaping over the flames that might be hampering her way towards the Astorean King. If she wanted to get to Astor, then the glowing figures have to be taken care of first. The knight followed @Janet Reilly to deal a following strike to the Fallen Child of Light. @Ash Vargold called upon the spirits to assist her, guiding her way into the openings where she cut through with the edge of her shield.

The moment black smoke started clouding her vision, libitina's first instinct was to cover her nose, just in case the smoke was harmless. The absolute silence was nerve wreaking, even for her. It felt like she lost two important senses. She closed her eyes and stood completely relaxed, trying not to lose her cool. 'panicking is not the answer' she reminded herself. Even as the ground shook and turned into solid, she kept her cool. When the shaking of the floor stopped she reopened her eyes and the first sight she was greeted to was a crying player getting sunk into the wall. She felt a shiver run down her spin just thinking about how it would feel if she was the one in that position. For the first time she felt true terror inside the game but she refused to let it show.

She watched as the two people, who she had met before as allies, were turning against everyone. Before Libitina could even react, swords of black fire came falling down the sky, one of them injuring the female on her right arm. It was just a graze but it burned the sleeve of her outfit and even burned her skin. She clenched her teeth, trying not to scream in pain but did let out a small whimper, making her feel pathetic. Who would have thought getting burned by a flaming sword would hurt so badly?

After standing idle for a while, trying to get over the pain she felt, Libitina charged forward to attack the human shield. She wanted to get to Astor so she could at least pay him half fold of the pain he gave her

Raid had watched in horror as Titanius effortlessly pulled a seemingly formidable fellow Pyromancer up into the ceiling, then crushed him leaving only a blood stain.

    That... Could have been me...

Raid looked around for the knight that had save him earlier and after not seeing them, decided he would make a point to find them later if he could and thank them properly. Unfortunately that would probably include having to admit to not being very strong but they deserved as much for saving him from THAT.

Before Raid could get another attack off on the eye, the room began to change violently killing players around them and new Hostile NPCs spawned in the center. They gave their short dialogue more or less telling them all to die. Based on the look of shock many players held, it seemed these were NPCs they were not expecting to fight today.

Guess the developers had some plot twists planned to spice things up a bit.

The male NPC began to cast some kind of pyromancy spell, while the female seemed to conjure up some light protective spell in the form of children. Black flaming blades appeared above them all and Raid immediately knew there was no way he was going to avoid the attack. So he just closed his eyes, gritted his teeth and hoped his previous counter measures for damage would hold.

The flames hit him only partially being blocked by the barrier that quickly faded away. All other players around him were also hit, a lot of them were starting to look really bad. To make matters worse, the pain was insane! Raid really did not understand the appeal of being able to feel in this game.

Looking toward the two NPCs in the center and his remaining health and energy, Raid knew this fight was far beyond his level. If he didn't play it safe he was going to die soon. Frantically he began to draw more glowing runes to refresh his damage barrier and hopefully prolong his life. Zin personally hated being so useless to all his fellow players around him still bravely fighting, but there was no way he was going to sacrifice Raid for this.

The barrier formed around him once again and he sent the tendrils of dark energy toward the Female NPC, it was pathetic damage but that's all he could do for now.

The smog in the air nearly choked Aristides, but that was really the last thing he had to worry about. The soft interior of Titanius had become solid stone with deadly sharp spines protruding from nearly every surface. The sound of those spikes cutting through flesh was clearly audible to him. It made him shudder...though not nearly as much as the sight of their corpses when the smoke cleared, and he nearly backed himself into the dangerously sharp wall himself in shock. Oh God. It was just a game. It was just a game, no matter how much it hurt. Those people would be fine. They would respawn in time. He wasn't surrounded by corpses, just virtual husks. Still, it was not a pleasant sight. He jerked his head towards the center of the arena, grateful that something was happening to distract from all the gore.

Even if that something was fireballs raining down. Ow.

Aristides winced and ducked into himself as he bore the full barrage of flames, then when it died out, he rose back to full height and cracked his neck, fists clenching tight enough that he felt his claws digging into his skin. He didn't recognize the people at the center well enough. One of them had been leading them through this fight at first, and the other was the NPC Queen, but that was it. It had to be an illusion. Or some kind of trick. Either way, the caster needed to go first. That was the rule of MMO combat, right?

With a far less wild approach than before, taking into consideration the spikes on every surface, Aristides charged into D'vangaline's reach and swung his fist right for her face. He could feel bad about punching the likeness of a Queen later. If he didn't die first.

"Oh god, no." Ashnor's eyes opened wide as one of the other players fighting with him was knocked down by a tentacle, splattering him onto the fleshy ground in an explosion of blood. Before Ashnor was able to run over to see if the obviously not okay player was okay though, the chamber around them began to change into a hard and shiny black material. Running to one of the nearest blocked off areas, he finds himself with a few of the other Raid members.

Turning to face the newcomers as their voices traveled throughout the now black chamber, Ashnor almost immediately recognized them as the king and queen that they had met before. "It's probably best if I go for those fake ones that are protecting them..." Ashnor sets off back towards the center of the chamber, his light blue eyes set upon the circle of fake queens surrounding the once good King of Astorea. Jumping as high as he can to reach his target, Ashnor manages to hit her, but it doesn't look like it did all that much.

The whole landscape changed as two bosses made a dramatic entrance. Titanius retreated for the time being, so now their only enemies were the two humanoids. Well hopefully, this would be easier than a giant Lovecraftian god. But, when the male human (at least Rivers thought it was a human), threw out a literal storm of fire, Rivers reconsidered. He hunkered down to try to mitigate the damage but it was to no avail. Fireball after fireball battered him as he hurriedly tried to put them out. It didn't work quickly enough, and the fire singed his skin. Rivers could actually smell his burning flesh...maybe this game was too real.

With the changing landscape, Rivers found himself in a new part of the room. As he looked around, he saw new faces surrounding him. Had they been in the pool of acid as well? Regardless, now they were here. Rivers took a step forward when he noticed that his foot hit solid ground. He looked down. What was this new material? Obsidian? He hesitated. He'd wanted to go and attack one of the bosses, but he took another look at his surroundings. He needed to assist the people around him to do their very best. After all, Rivers didn't even have a weapon...

"Anyone can help me out a little bit here...please?"

Rivers turned and saw some kind of ranger with an injured arm, calling for help. How could he say no? Rivers prepared his heal before he saw a pugilist in front of him who'd recently attacked. Could he heal her too? Heals could be AoE. That might be useful. Rivers looked around and no one else seemed too injured. He could focus the heal on those two and give the most help back that he could.

"I hope this helps!" he called, hoping that those around would notice his contribution. It was pretty cool of him to not attack and support those around him. Maybe they'd notice that and if they noticed that they'd of course be his friend. Maybe they'd even thank him! Rivers was maybe getting ahead of himself. But he knew that even if they didn't thank him...they'd think he was cool.

Ceres looked at the two leaders with a mixture of awe and fear, just what exactly were they fighting here? If their foe was capable of converting such people to their side, what exactly did that entail for them if they were defeated. She doubted that it would end well for any of them, recalling an unfortunate swordsman who drew Titanius' ire and got turned to paste because of it.

A sudden chill ran down her spine as the two figures spoke and she barely had enough time to grab ahold of a fallen adventurer's shield and place herself right in front of two. She was almost instantly blown away by the force of the attack but did save them some pain, however slight it was. While she weathered the storm, she was definitely not in the greatest of spots but nonetheless hoped that someone would be able to come up with a plan.

Picking herself up and looking around, it didn't seem like there were very many that could continue to fight given how long the battle lasted, they would need backup. Maybe that person who opened the portal could offer some insight, he appeared to be connected to some sort of mage guild and he did say something about contacting his friends earlier. Perhaps they would have some good news, the group could certainly use some. Looking around, she luckily managed to spot him in the chaos and said,

"Ivan, did your colleagues find anything useful? And is any support coming?"

Your Highness, how long are you going to stay up there? Why don't you come down to play together with me?

Corvella kept trying to taunt and distract the corrupted King of Astorea with her words and the mocking cat ears, hoping that he would direct his attack to her and not to the wounded ones. She has a shield strong enough to protect herself, and unlike many others she was still fit for a fight. Well, except she has a big hole in the back of her armor. She fought bigger enemies before, she'll manage. God, I hope that Astor wouldn't blast me with his full strength for this mocking.

The spirit called upon her by Ash was still guiding her through the attacks, this time reaching out its hand to the Children of Light, signalling a ranged attack. Now, she didn't have any means to do ranged attack to damage it. But what if....

Corvella looked at her shield slowly, her face looked inspired and the spirit of Captain America is suddenly inside her. Taking a running start, she ran to the left while building speed. Almost at the edge of the separated zone where the flames are, the blonde spun and released her shield. Of course it doesn't spin and bounce like that thing in the movies, but at the very least it flew towards one of the children of light and made a 'whack' sound. The shield fell upon impact and Corvella was ready to dive below to catch it. Gotcha.

She looked at the remaining children of light. If those were not taken down in time, Astor would remain protected and God knows what kind of spell he had been preparing to rain on them all. Time's running out.

Goddammit, everything's already going to hell--

Madison was isolated from the rest of the group. Most of the others were locked in their own corners of the vast chamber. Others who tried to move from one area to another were sliced up by sharp obsidian. Fresh wounds that needed to be patched up by healers who were already being stretched thin.

The exhaustion of battle was already seeping into her bones. The briar witch's breathing was becoming labored, her muscles ached, her mind infested with horrible visions and creeping dread.

    She could log out.

She could log out right now. Let everyone else deal with this Titanius mess, and these two royals and their hologram or whatever. Just disappear, and come back when everything was over.

Instead, Madison grit her teeth and gave her deck one final in-hand cut. There was work to be done.

The cursemage addressed the other two adventurers in her vicinity. They both looked worse off than she did. "Hey, you two idiots! Hold still for a second!"

Madison drew three cards and threw them into the air. At @Aristides and @Rook the Quick's feet, the obsidian cracked and tangled clumps of vines burst forth. They wrapped themselves around their bodies and began delivering healthy doses of sticky sap that would soothe their burns and knit their flesh back together.

"You owe me for this," she reminded them sternly."

…So I am pretty sure he is indeed a player just like the rest of us…

The sound of the walls forming around him gave him pause just as the King of Astorea suddenly appearing in a wave of black fire also gave him pause. He shuffled a bit, but mostly remained stationary, his one good eye narrowing at Astor. Emil had tried – unsuccessfully – to warn him about the threat to his life. Was this it? Had prophecy come true? Hesitantly, the Magus glanced around, his golden gaze hopping from face to face as if he would be able to see the Dark Descender among the raid party, grinning like the Cheshire cat, fingers steepled before his face.

    Her face.

The plot belonged to the cunning brain of a woman. A woman whose diary Emil still carried in his position. He swallowed as his attention zeroed back in on the two that were now their enemies. Were they supposed to kill them both? And rob two nations of their royal families? Another scoff, this one louder and rougher. Anarchy would pour through the streets, riots would darken every doorstep and the world around them would crumble into the ashes….

But wasn’t that what the Dark Descender wanted? Wasn’t that the goal of this Titanius creature? Anarchy, death, destruction, chaos?

Open your mind and I will open the void to endless infinity.

Emil staggered, hissing through the pain of another puss bubble as it sizzled onto his skin. Raw, aching, he longed to scratch at the irritated skin and allow the fluid to leak out, but he resisted. Turning his gaze to the King and Queen once more, he exhaled and allowed a wave of flames to crash over the female.

Before Yukisa could get the help he needed, the battlefield began gradually morphing, following the unsettling sound of laughter that resonated throughout the fleshy chamber. Through the splitting headache that tortured him and the dense cloud of smoke, though, it felt as if everything changed in a flash.

He glanced around in order to survey the new environment. Rather than soft flesh, they were now surrounded by hardened black crystal, and it appeared they were confined to a tighter space than before, as evidence by the corpses of those who could not escape being pierced by the shrinking walls.

Moments later, two new foes entered the battlefield. The female he had recognized from a meeting earlier that day, and Astor… it was a hazy memory, however somehow he recalled the man’s face being distorted with disgust. Strangely, some sort of attraction tingled at the back of his mind, however he quickly dismissed it.

Sadly, unlike before, this time the pair was not on their side. And as usual, the gang of heroes began recklessly attacking without a second thought. Which might seem like the proper course of action, considering the threat was imminent and the quicker they were dispatched, the better. But...

‘What if these aren’t illusions?’ that thought plague him, and for a moment he saw the two’s figures on the floor, lifeless in a pool of blood. The image was so vivid, he swore he could smell the crimson liquid. Surely, if they were just possessed, then there was another way.

The damage dealt to himself and his allies easily changed his mind. Even if he could think straight with whatever was causing his head to swirl, there was no way he could quickly come up with a solution. He needed to act now.

Once again, he rose to his trembling legs, spear in hand, and rushed towards his opponent. As he ran, it became difficult to hold onto his weapon, and he was forced to tuck it under his arm to keep it steady. As he was approaching his target, he added a burst of wind to increase the speed, and therefore force of his attack, and successfully managed to hit D’vangelline in the side. Though he was aiming for a cinche in her armor and missed, he still dealt quite a bit of damage to her armor from the force behind his thrust.
