Nalla thought nothing of what happened next, only hoping to do as much as she possibly could in the present moment. Perhaps that would lead to death, perhaps it would lead to glory. Regardless of the outcome, havoc was coming. With her hands in front of her, palms facing the ground, she attempted to summon back to herself a great ball of fire, calling upon the familiar ritual of energy exertion. "What is this?" Instead of the dancing embers coming together to form a sphere, as they often did, flames slithered down her arms.

A gift. Coalescing in her palms, she shaped it isn't a flickering flame that she balanced, like a magnet, between two open palms. "You don't seem like the gift giving type." As her arms swayed ever so slightly left or right, the strings of fire moved also, as though they were strands of hair submerged in water, lingering in their previous positions, before following along. A living fire. It can be placed upon someone to empower their physical strikes.

"You want me to attack her up close?" The pyromancer had taken a rather suicidal course of actions up to this point, but something just didn't seem right about charging all the way across the battlefield. At this moment, she noticed the strain that sustaining this was putting on her, the weight of the flaming mass becoming heavier in her grasp.

No. A catalyst, there. Nalla's eyes, as though she were not moving them herself, drifted towards @Ueno Mizuki, an ally who had joined the combat just moments before, just as she had. Send her the fire. Let her strike them down. She nodded, shaking her head to the side to get some of her hair out of her eyes. "Hey you!" She did not know the one in which she was empowering, as the flame appeared on the subject, but hopefully they would pull something epic off.

And if she cannot harness it, then she will be burnt up. Nalla's eyes widened. "Ehh?! You didn't say anything about--" From the wolf girl's first punch, a burst of flame took the breath out of the pyromancer, suddenly draining her energy. She collapsed onto her knee, a hand reached up to maintain the connection for the ally's second, explosive punch. Feed the fire. Keep it alive. The arsonist smiled, panting. It was... WONDERFUL!

    The light faded.
    Her body materialized.
    Brad's wish taken into account.

Gazing upon the battlefield, the illusionary orphanage had changed into a field of horror more fitting the maddening Dissonance called Titanius. Even now, the orange-hair could feel her mind deteriorating. The sweet smell of alcohol, the tempting whispers of power, the rising hunger for Käse.

One step, two step, Seigi moved forward. Carrying three Scars, three mementos, three reminders of her weakness. No...

Seigi changed into a dash. It didn't serve to remind her of how weak she was. It was a sign of strength. She wasn't an alcoholic maniac selling their Soul and Fortune for one more drop. She wasn't desperate enough for power to take the easy way out in exchange for her Soul. She wasn't the edgy girl turning to the dark-side to reveal in the madness of cannibalism and slaughter.

She was a Hero. A light shining so bright that it even banished its own shadows. Impossible? Nothing was impossible for a Hero...

Neither was the task at hand. With Saya gone, their odds of winning may have been lower, but not impossible. Seigi, no, all of them together, simply had to rise to greater heights. For a better tomorrow.

"NAAAANNNIIII!!!!!!" Seigi cried out. Hesitation. Despite her words, despite being more willing. Seigi's hands were, ultimately, made for peace. She held precisely no weapons so she could hold those of others.

Too weak. Despite her simple attack, reinforced by Heroic Might, connecting amidst the fiery Inferno, she was still too weak. "GIVE IT UP ALREADY! YOU'RE JUST A RELIC OF THE PAST WAY PAST ITS EXPIRATION DATE!" That wouldn't stop her from talking shit though. Of course, Raina Raythean wasn't all too malicious to talk really mean.

Swapping with Gwyn created a nervousness unknown to Comet until the moment she stepped onto the battlefield in ruins, facing Nanami. The blood red sky sent a shiver down her spine. Though not much time could be spent taking in the scenery. She already had her bow drawn since the moment her name had been called. Despite not knowing much Comet could easily pick out the group's target. She wished she'd been there all along to support her teammates, but also forced herself to face the reality of what danger that would create for more than one person at a time. Dissonance drained a player both mentally and physically.

Certainly, when fighting the body she could feel and see effects beginning to manipulate her strong mind. Fortunately determination to swap into the core - hope rising that she would witness an eventual defeat of the horrid monster plaguing innocent lands and people - fought off any sort of corruption seeping through without hesitation. Comet vowed to put all her energy and focus and strength into conquering, winning, prowess... but mostly the young woman held a desire for justice for what her cold, emerald eyes had been forced to see thus far.

Never before had honor pushed the young woman towards anything. Never, until now, and she felt too confused to ponder upon the topic in the heat of the moment. Flushed, covered in a thin layer of sweat, and readied the Archer took a shot at Nanami with all the fury build up within her weak, cracked soul. A reckless action brought on by a multitude of emotions that churned her gut and hung heavy on a cold heart wasn't a good example of anything Comet had the potential to do; but, the expression painting her face most definitely said enough to any onlookers.

    Titanius: The Core

Nanami's already corrupted form only became more and more mutilated by the force of all the attacks pounding into her. Arbiter did it's part as well, it's powers seemingly beyond her ability to control.

This was not 4000 years ago.

The city burned. The floor that was all that remained of the orphanage slowly began to tear apart and fly off into the black hole. After all theses attacks. Nanami finally looked weakened. Beyond weakened actually...

    Resigned.

Her eyes closed. Arbiter still in her hand as the bluish energy crept up her arm slowly. Sending cracks of black up it. The right side of her body was a complete silhouette now.
    "I....cannot...use....Arbiter...."

The voice you heard in your minds was hollow and barely human if at all.

"No... more.... yesterday.... no more... tomorrow...."

Letting go of the sword it clattered onto the ground as her body began to melt just like the shadows the party defeated earlier. Nanami was gone. The sound of fire stopped even though the flames continued to burn. The sky stopped. Everything seemed to freeze in time except for the party themselves...

If only for a second it seemed to be...

You suddenly felt a strong pull.

The entire battle field, Arbiter, the black goop that was Nanami. various streams of darkness, everything other than the ever distant illusory city of fire. All became pulled into the black hole.

And so without anything to hold you up, you fell.

Spiraling downwards into the burning hell below.

    Or so you thought.

You hit a hard mostly translucent disk. It was obviously some form of magical platform meant to keep you afloat. Everyone found themselves on one as they each floated back up to the height of the earlier fight. You also noticed that wherever you stepped the strange floor would follow! You were walking on air! Somewhat...

The feeling you felt now was much more important anyway.

A foreboding dread that matched the very first time you may have witnessed Titanius' massive form. The feeling of something looking into your soul and licking it's lips hungrily. Your eyes were drawn upwards.

"Nanny... what do you vant to do after zis?"

The voice was of the unknown girl with the thick accent. Then came the human voice of Nanami.

"That's tomorrow. We need to survive today."

A black sphere descended from the the hole above. It slowly drifted downwards.

Then you realized the truth. What you fought was nothing more than another shadow. Another memory of a ancient human.

    "There...is...no...need...for...any...other....day...."

img The sphere opened revealing the being within. The without any doubt must be what you sought here.

    The Second Order Dissonance.

    "...neither....do.....you......"

Arbiter completely grayed out hovered over her head. It was encased in a shell of mana. It rotated slowly while pointed upwards. Titanius' Core offered no expression beyond it's empty single eyed glare... no...it actually had quite a few glares. She bent her elbows and lifted her hands upward. Her hollow voice echoing in your mind.

    "Dawn...."

    "Dusk..."

    "Where..... do.....you.....stand....?"

    "Regardless....you...will be...in....deepest....twilight."

    The light returned.
    Her body&soul, on fire.
Brad's wish, about to be fulfilled.

But it was all just a lie.

The black-hole that absorbed everything. Even the words Seigi tried to speak never reached her own ears. She had to hold on something, anything. Yet, before even able to formulate such an idea, it had already been too late as Seigi got absorbed into it just to...?

"Ooofff..." The girl hit the ground, the air... hard? It was really strange, moving like that. Kinda amazing, too!

Seigi didn't have the leisure to pay too much attention to being able to fly amidst the scorching landscape however as Nani? Nanami? Titanius? The Dissonance Boogie Monster! Made a return or, rather, finally revealed its true form? So everything before had just been a walk in the pa—

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Seigi cried out in pain as she got on her knees. IthurtithurtithurtithurtithurtithurtithurtithurtithurtSURRENDERYOURSOULTOUS. "SHUT UP!" The orange-hair cried out as she coughed up blood. Her bandages completely removed, revealing her void-arms. "The... thirst... the hunger... I want..." NO. Screw that. She was closer giving into this shit when she had been with Wendy... her best friend. "THIS IS NOTHING!" Getting back up on her feet, Seigi carried her battered and bloodied body a few steps forward.

    Don't be stupid.
    With Guts and Effort.
It's over with the Guts if you're dead.

Seigi sighed. Right. Giving Titania a stern glare, the last words she said to her as her body dissolved into light. "I'll be back."

As soon as she felt the pull, internally struggling against the force, Comet wondered if the end was near. Terrasphere was only a game. Yet, death hardly appealed to her. Death meant defeat. Death would be humiliating. Death struck a chord of fear deep within her soul not yet touched. Not until now. The entirety of the fight seemed to bring out a version of herself previously unknown. One truly frightened of Dissonance's power. One that couldn't hide behind a face of confidence. Her world stopped upon reaching the magical plate that stopped the fall. Worry coated Comet from head to toe. The pink-haired woman ran a hand through hair slicked with sweat from both anxiety and being quite the reckless fighter in order to deal more damage.

Pain seeped through surface wounds to bone, and further. Her heart felt squeezed by a million tiny, invisible hands. Constricted lungs fought to breath but the unknown brought about terror she couldn't run away from in time. Dread washed over Comet as if an incoming tidal wave from a deep blue merciless ocean. Though that blue turned black once she drowned in worries surrounding the new monstrous entity - enough to drive her insane. True darkness resonated from Titania: an evil unmatched by an other villain out there. Words like swords infiltrated the young woman's mind, one she believed to be strong enough to avoid such attacks.

A lithe body, once pale and stiff and shocked, began to hastily move once more. Comet needed out. Needed to get away. If swapping hadn't been an option she would've stood her ground. Held onto that false reality of being a warrior full of endless bravery in order to remain strong for herself and others. But now? The Archer switched without another thought. Her bow and arrows could still aid others in the ultimate battle. Yet she wielded a dazed mind and hazy focus. Trembling limbs due to intense fear crawling throughout her soul.

Falling into a black hole with fiery madness; all that was not fun, even for the arson. Especially in the state of exhaustion Nalla was getting to. The impact, as she landed hard on her back, was nowhere near comfortable, the air being knocked from her lungs. Very weakly, and without much swiftness, the Pyromancer crawled to her hands and knees, before pushing herself up onto her feet. Pointing up at the new form of her foe, she shook her head.

"That is a big deal." She bit her lip, nodding painfully, as discomfort wracked within her torso. "And I need rest." Turning around, she agonizingly limped her way through the portal, clutching her side with one hand. She certainly was in no shape to be fighting, and so, to the safety of the soul path, she would slowly retreat. In transition, she glanced up to see who it was that would be taking her place.

At first, she was taken aback. That was not one of her allies, but... She thought that one had perished? Oh well... Perhaps her mind had been playing tricks on her. Nalla kept her head down and continued on her way towards refuge, her body now a shamble of soreness and invisible wounds. The residue of a nosebleed appeared as dried blood on the pyromancer's upper lip. Stumbling along into the soul path, she kept her head low, wandering over to a shape that seemed more friendly than foe, and more familiar than others.

    Her?

    Kyupin!

"Hey, @Kyupin Felnya! How are you doing?" The purple haired pyro attempted to place her hand on the Felis shoulder, missing by about a foot, and nearly falling flat on her face, before attempting again. Hopefully she had not approached too quickly, to a person who was still getting used to her new face! Peering up at the screen, she had not realized that you could spectate what was going on in the combat!

"Wow!" Suddenly, she was frightened. With parts of her face still marked with scorch marks, bruises, and blood, she looked towards the familiar friend, who hopefully was not startled by the disturbing visage of a nearly fallen Nalla. "Did I... Look good out there?" With a redness coming to her cheek, she hoped that her display of combat was not viewed negatively by critics!

She then proceeded to watch the combat with great anticipation!

Their surroundings were quickly deterioriating, Mizuki figuring it was in response to Nanami's state as finally the madwoman was showing the results of their assault. On one hand it was good to see that finally they were getting results, but on the other evolution left people with instincts that weren't too happy with the idea of their surroundings falling apart. Mizuki was pretty sure that even if this place collapsed they'd be able to get out thanks to Weiss, but it was still a bit of a scary sight.

It got worse when the entire floor fell down and they were pulled into what looked like certain death. Mizuki tried to see if she could pull herself back into the soul path, but since she didn't want to throw anyone else into this situation it was a one-sided effect and it failed right up until she smacked into a new floor.

Pushing herself up Mizuki whimpered when she suddenly felt a great dread, something she had felt before but which had quickly faded back then. It didn't fade now. Looking up her eyes widened as she beheld the true form of the creature of Dissonance that they had been fighting. The previous form had looked like a woman who was still clinging to her past even as misfortune had broken her and turned her into a psychopath. This form...

I guess that's what complete despair looks like here.

Commentary aside, the wave that drained her life and energy reminded her that it was time for her to go, and her instincts readily agreed. So without further ado the wolfwoman willed herself back onto the Soul Path, feeling her being get pulled out of this dimension as another party member was pulled in to act as the counterweight. Knowing it was Gwyn was reassuring, as the archer didn't look like the type to be intimidated and the Lupis had to admit that this new situation was a lot heavier on the mind. Appearing in the Soul Path she quickly noticed Saya, blinking in surprise as while she hadn't completely given up hope on the woman she hadn't expected to see her back here.

From an orphanage to a hellscape. From a mimicry of the real world to the day it all fell apart, apocalypse recreated in the collective consciousness of the existence now known as Titania. Half the corpse of a human who once fought against evil, and half the writhing mass of blackened eyes that now consumed her. The entire team had switched over, ethereal wisps still clinging onto their forms, and already, the midnight haired muse could sense the difference in the air.

Four thousand and five hundred HP to bust through. A phantasmal sword and an eldritch evil to sunder. He balled up his fist, the phantasmal noose searing away his words at the madness of all this. This...could it be done? There was no value here. The only thing to win was glory, and the glory won was a virtual one at that. With all those theories going on about how dying to these things makes it impossible for you to log out, the best option would be to just leave the game. If it gets turned into a wasteland, the developers would just do a soft reset of the world. If it turns out that the others were strong enough to see this through, that would be great as well.

And ultimately, Seigi and Ashiore didn't mean that much to him anyways. They weren't extraordinarily close friends; before this day, Cain didn't even know who Seigi was in real life.

This entire scenario, this entire experience wasn't something that was necessary to whatever he wanted to do in the future?

    So why?

Because he was a stupid girl too burdened down by the ones he had lost to run away any longer.

It erupted from his back, the phantasmal muses that would form a choir with him. Hair like golden silk. Sword of ashen white. Clutching the Score in his hand, Cain took a breath of the death-dealing air and...

Roland was tossed back into the fight unsure if he had even arrived at the correct location. When he had left it had been a normal city, but now it seemed it had become some sort of dystopian future. Even worse, their enemy, Nanami, had seemingly undergone some sort of transformation since she had received Saya's blade. Things were likely growing desperate, but somehow it seemed @Cain Darlite had one more trick up his sleeve. Pulling a trick from a purified, he managed to summon a small ensemble that helped rejuvenate their spirits. Not wasting any time, Roland moved closer to the band, and make several marks in the air. A rune quickly formed, sending out a large blast of static electricity aimed at Saya's sword which was hovering ominously in the air.

With it taken care of, he could only hope they could focus their attentions on Nanami, or rather titanus.

This was it. Time to get out on the field and do her best to help the team, despite the fact that she'd planned to merely chill in the background and patch people up. But as easily as health could be restored, the spirit took longer to recover from its wounds, and even those still wishing to be in the fight had to pause to catch their breath after throwing so much into it. Well, it felt about that time... Suppressing a smirk, Rat appeared within the orphanage and ran immediately for Cain, as a swell of music began to fill the air. Making use of her theatrics, she kept herself composed and dignified, and turned to face Titania with a level stare.

Awww shit. It was time for Rat to shine her trolling little heart out with the deus ex machina of all Hail Mary's.

img "That's where you're WRONG, Nanami! Or whoever you really are, or aren't! You're one to talk about the twilight, when you're nothing but a shadow yourself! You preach against the light only because it hurts you to behold it, and so you wallow in your own darkness and despair, a mud that swallows you down and drags others with it!

But there is beauty and there is hope even in the darkest of twilights, because all things, even the night, are ephemeral and fleeting! So even if you crush our bodies here, that spirit will linger on and burn bright as the sun in a NEW dawn, so grossly incandescent that there will be no corner untouched by it for you to hide in your shadows!

Because we have a strength you've never known!"

Placing a hand on @Cain Darlite's shoulder, she listened to the music swell as the Flagbearer of Miracles composed a ballad for them all, heightened by @Seigi's gift. @Roland Rutledge had felled the sword Arbiter, which Rat made a mental note to grab in the next few moments, if she could, and get it back to the real Saya back in the soul path. The boss who had been torn down to this level by everyone else in their group, all working as one chickenshit team.

"You see, we have trust! We have FRIENDSHIP! No matter how pitch the black, or dark the despair, or loud the dissonance, there are people that I can count on to support me and hold me up! And I hold them up in stead! It's the tune that we carry in our very souls, the bond and beat of our hearts. It builds, and with each chorus our voices grow a little stronger and our message more sincere. This is the song of our hearts! The harmony of our love and our friendship that will drive your dissonance away for good!"

And with that, the trolliest of all supports flung a Dispel right at the boss's face, just to see if peeling away its dissonance was a possibility, her expression stern and serious, her pose bracing and commanding as though she fully intended to hug and forgive the ever loving dick out of Titania if need be.

Gwyn bore her teeth at Mizuki in passing, the expression trapped between a grin and a snarl, as she was once again swapped out for reinforcements. Hopefully, ready for the ill memories the blade evoked she would actually find herself capable of hitting the further mutated bitch. Hopefully, they'd put her to rest sooner rather than later. She didn't dare spare a moment's focus on concern for those still within the physical body. The best they could do was slay it from within. The others were on their own.

She passed through the soul portal into the swelling sounds of music. The phantasmal orchestra hummed in the air between them all as she took the Lupi's spot and quickly moved closer to her allies for support. So loud and pure was the sound that the string of the gilded longbow vibrated along with it. As if it sought to harmonize.

The archer pulled back, dropping to one knee and letting out a sigh of relief as the Duke dealt with the sword. No shadows that swallowed the light this time. Only the further demented woman and the monster she revealed. Perhaps she had some tragic past in the shattered remains of this world, but it was just that. The past. The huntress had no pity for those that could not rise above the weights, that couldn't keep moving. This Nanami, this Titania was fated to drown in her sins and regrets and miseries and horrors. Or be slain in the mire of them. Gwyn would assist her in meeting her fate that she might rest and that the world might flouris-

The arrows went sailing as Saya- no, she'd still been in the soul path recovering when Gwyn left it- began up a torrent of. Something. The blonde dropped her aim, barely paying attention to the twinned shafts that met their target. She stared incredulously over her own shoulder at the illusion? Feverdream? Nightmare? "What the actual fuck."

Fade Arbiter stopped spinning and returned to a slow rotation once again pointing upwards. However even with that small victory Roland would suddenly feel a powerful force eat at him for his defiance. The speech from the Saya doppelganger fell on deaf ears. The SOD was beyond such speeches now. The presence of Saya's form was pointless. Inside was a sad soul just ripe for the feeding.

A dispel was used and did absolutely nothing...

Whatever Dissonance this human was going by was nothing like the impure nightmare that they faced now. Curing this ancient being was far too late... if it was ever possible at all. Nyarlieth had successfully ruined this soul and there was no simple dispelling of this.

Titania hovered silently while the party did several swaps of members.

They suddenly heard a voice vibrating quietly in each of their minds with a hollow echo...

It brought with it a ominous omen...

    "One... whose...life... is.... in....dusk....will.....perish...."

Gwyn shook her head and turned from the strange sight of one of her compatriots playing a game of Dress Up with an already fairly obnoxious NPCs face. Saya really hadn't needed the help. The huntress wasn't sure what purpose all the over the top move shouts, grotesque costumes with frilled armor, and strange transformations to more exceedingly over-designed outfits was, but she wasn't going to waste the brain matter it'd surely kill to figure it out.

She shifted her position some to keep in range of Cain's musical miracle and pulled back against the draw weight of her weapon. It gave easier than she planned, easier than she needed. It had proven itself before, slain a Warden, a King, and a Godling. It was nearing its time to retire earlier than her previous. Then again, Sera had been the one to craft the first great weapon that had fit so neat against the curve of her palm. Gilded though the new one was, it lacked the same core.

When she left this core, she'd hunt down a new companion to serve beside her army of canine teeth and serpentine fangs.

The huntress lined up the lone metal fang and fired. It pinned through the rippling dress and into the leg beneath, three eyes forced forever open around the wooden dowel. The raven's feathers that made the fletching lined up perfectly with the central eye to replace the pupil she'd skewered through. Gross.
