My~ that is an extremely convenient bout of U.I. interference we have here~ From the dissonance I assume? Just so, far be it for me to complain about a needle of convenience in this haystack. I am on my way to provide support! Hold fast for just a little while longer!

Thanks to the opening @Nikephoros had given her, Yule gave her Valkyrie the slip and took off in a dash toward Zone 4. She gave the Yaldian a thankful bow and wave as she went. Perhaps chivalry was not dead after all. Now it was her turn to play the errant knight, though she wasn't sure if this effort would be her last. Yule frowned as she gripped the hems of her skirt ever so much tighter as she ran...

Arriving, Yule wasted no time assessing the situation. She nodded at @Ilusa Nakhalee as she gave the Felis a thankful smile from the bottom of her heart. She was feeling so much better now and her mind was feeling a great deal more clear.

Placing her hand to her chin, Yule offered Rudiford her opinion:

"Where the ice is deepest, I unfortunately, cannot reach. Still, I can clear the way for another by pruning these tasteless spikes. From there, it should be a much easier task to access those unfortnates ensnared in this miner's nightmare scenario."

Taking 3 steps forward, Yule planted her feet and straightened her back. Thrusting a hand forth like Magneto, her whole body began to shake as she battled the evil ice. Slowly, but surely, the ice spikes, thorns, and other debris were parted to make a path for another adventurer to brute force the problem. Perhaps with arms, perhaps with a more impactful magic.

Yule was breathing heavily as she looked at @Rudiford Gwyndel and his Felis Companion.

"It would be sheer arrogance for me to attempt anything further. When moving this unusual ice, like a young branch, there is always the danger of it snapping back to form as it resists. And, should the ice entrapping our compatriots snap back... well... the results would be gruesome as I am sure you can image. We will need someone with the precise force of a chisel from here to provide further recourse. At the very least, I offer my promise that those who attempt to do so will be able to proceed unmolested."

Winded, Yule waited while hoping that others would come to the aid of the axeclops.

"Hehehe, good job with the fire everyone! Hehehe, I would have helped but I have to take down this dummy king for being stupid and dressing like he sells sunglasses at a kiosk at the mall for a living, hehehe, dummy gross old man."

With the fire taken care of, Majolica was free to resume her attack on the fallen king. Keeping up with her pace, Majolica's broomstick kept itself busy. Firing it's bristles like in a flurry of strikes, the broomstick quickly circled and dogged around it's target while launching attacks.

Before she resumed her own attack, Majolica called out to the other witch ops members.

"Hehehe, is everyone okay? Hehe, I can't really do much other than try and take this thing down, hehehe, but make sure not to die! Hehehe, that's an order!"

The rank and file of the Witchs Ops formation had been broken down thanks to the continuous stream of new problems that the fallen monarchs kept summoning up for the group. But even with everything going on, Majolica was doing her best to loose a stead stream of damage onto the King before he could summon more fire. After finishing him off, she could rotate to the Queen who had just rushed into the fray.

As Majolica took stock of everyone, she heard Corvella's message in which she called herself "Emperor".

Hehehe, emperor? I hope she's just joking and hasn't gone crazy like these two dummies, hehehe.

Grinning, Majolica privately whispered to @Corvella through the Witch Ops Sticky Sticker.

Hehehe, so you're the emperor now? Hehehe, does that make me the Grand Emperor, hehehe, or are you thinking it's time to try to over throw The Grand Witch? Hehehehe... no betraying me, or trying to overthrow me... hehehe, I don't like it. Hehe, don't make me send the Cawing Owl of Brisshal out to give you a lecture... hehehe. But if I'm Grand Emperor, hehehe then it's fine! Hehe, Okay, back to fighting! Hehehe!

With that out of the way, Majolica once again faced the king.

    "Hehehe, alright! Let's keep pushing!"

Readying another mass of black magic, Majolica began channeling a steady stream of dark energy into the king.

"Just go down, dummy! Hehehe, give up so I can go home and eat some candy! Hehehehe, I'm already late for Grand Witch Snack Time! Hehehe, it's a very important part of the day! Hehehe!"

“Well sheetos!” Usa crouched behind a large black crystal to avoid the magic that turned the entire zone into a tainted and disgusting icy wasteland. “Heh, and when you thought that king had no chill…” The tinkerer shook her weapon, and the magitech parts let out a low humm — it needed reapiring. Usagi crouched and reached for the addons on her light boots, activating the boosters to slide all across the dangerous area — the faster she was out of there, the better. It seemed the adventurers in zone 3 were working together to clear the ice, so she had to trust in their ability to deal with the problem on their own.

After managing to somehow get out of the transition between one zone to another alive, Usagi checked her surroundings as she continued on and noticed that the deadly environment was getting less dangerous the further she followed a certain path. Thanks to @Yule, she managed to arrive safely at zone 4. Before she could work on her addons and magitech to shoot things dead, however, she’d need to help clearing this awful environment. She eyed the present raid members and noticed how they were a bit behind — for god’s sake, the next cycle was just around the corner!

“Well now if you don’t mind, I gotta do some cleaning in this awful place!” Usagi plopped down on the ground in a sloppy motion before she began doing her magitechery things on her own. Turn the leyline capacitor back up by adding in a tiny bit of mana directly through touch, calibrate the exhaustion device so her weapon wouldn’t blow up on her face, add in some finishing touches and make sure to recalibrate the equalizer so her weapon would accept a new addon without any issues.

Ka-chak! Everything was ready. “I know it’s a bit cold out here, but I’d suggest you keep your distance now, because things are gonna heat up!” She aimed her crossbow, which had a long barrel attached to it, and pulled the trigger. Her weapon whirled and machine hums could be heard before her weapon released a blue magical fire, much like a flamethrower. It was fairly efficient at melting the ice, but even her super cool energy pool couldn’t keep up forever.

“I-uh, erm, I know I sounded cool n’ all, but I wouldn’t mind some help here!”

"W-why are all the persons doing themselves the run!?"

Were they just scared of ice? Ice wasn't that scary... not compared to the crazy eldritch tentacle biology that was going on before. If one had to be afraid of something, Cel figured fear of ice was probably one of the dumbest fears you could have. After all, how could you ever order a fresh, cold soda at a restaurant if you couldn't stomach the idea of there being ice in it? It just made no sense.

    "Sheesh..."

Celes glanced over at the rest of the group with a sigh.

"At least there are the few of you not doing the ice a fearing. Let us be giving the ice the warms."

With a careful run, Celestine made her way to the edge of the icy wasteland, right beside the one that had just been burning. Just like planned, she whipped up a strong wind with her air magic, blowing a delightfully warm gust of air into the winter wonderland.

"Here, Janet. A gift of thanks." He calls out to his friend, tossing out a paper charm across the field with precision. It impacted somewhere around her torso, though any pain would soon be washed away by the healing energy of his own life-force. Haru was getting really tired, and he knew now that it wasn't just the dissonance pushing on him. This would be his unrecorded limit of how long he can go on with pushing himself like this.

His musings here cut off with the sudden entrance of the dark queen D'vangeline. Haru would be damned if he didn't admit that the woman was imposing as it gets. At least with the room-sized monster before he couldn't discern a look of bloody murder directed towards him. Haru knew very well that he was running out of energy, so he might as well be of continued use as a meat-shield. Haru calls out to the woman, "I'm surprised you came down here, fake queen. You looked angry the last time someone got close and personal with you, but it seems like you're just looking for more!" taunting her. Mentally grinning, he hopes this lady sets her targets on him now, instead of anyone else who can still fight.

Exhausted and emotionally spent, Luna and Natiri shared a bond that passed everything between the two of them. She wanted to hurt D'va, to rip and tear her apart, but her body would barely move, would barely listen to her. Had Lucia and Portia not heard her calls? Did she know anybody else here? She hadn't seen anybody else that she'd met on her journey through the game here, so at the very least that meant that she wouldn't have to watch those people die too.

She coughed and tried to stand, though her heart clenched some more as that crimson flame that had engulfed her flower vanished, leaving only slightly withered petals in its wake as Luna shivered and grit her teeth. Her body was slow and sluggish, it felt like even her mind was moving through sludge as she tried to think.

And Natiri wasn't faring much better. Try as she might, she could only score passive, glancing blows on each target, slightly wounding a few but killing none. Damn it! So weak! So pathetic!

Comet entered from the portal with many things on her mind. She fiddled with her bow as if it were a foreign object. Positioning herself to shoot relying on the many times she'd practiced the stance, because focus could hardly be retained. A coldness spread throughout her body brought upon by the wave of darkness that washed over her before she'd left the core. It seeped through flesh wounds and bruises and burns. It crawled into the depths of her soul. A warning of Dissonance's power. She wanted to escape as per usual, but couldn't. Yet the Archer persevered.

Until she died Comet knew a fight would be put up to go against anything in the way of victory for Astorea, and the people. The players within proved themselves to be fierce and relentless in the effort to destroy a common enemy. It'd be wrong not to act the same for fear certainly plagued all of their minds or hearts or world. Emerald eyes caught sight of others in the same zone. Most likely, they'd go for the Queen as well. The contrast in this version of the brilliant Noble to the actual one nearly frightened Comet into submission. Nearly. Yet she distracted herself from worry by laughing in response to @Haru's taunt. "It's only natural for a Queen to want attention from potential subjects, right? Especially the fakes ones," she'd commented from her heart: a bit of hope through poking fun at their foe.

"Let's do our best alright? She's just another obstacle in the way after all. Nothing to worry about..."
Comet's next few words were directed towards other Zone 3 members - @Raid, @Tetsunosuke and @Rivers Asteire - but they lacked brief, previously recognized hope. A sudden flat tone and blank expression suggested she'd given up on the inside. Perhaps in a way Comet had, but even the pink-haired woman herself felt a little lost without much mental guidance amidst battle. She pierced the Queen with an arrow; a systematic response to the situation at hand.

Iván wasn’t too keen in seeing another one of them die a grisly death, this time getting skewered by the queen’s spear, but he had seen worse, felt worse. After all, the masked illusionist had died twice. In two separate efforts. As things escalated quickly, drowning his side of the battlefield with fire, he found himself caught in the middle of options, stressed by time constraints. Should he continue thwarting the queen’s efforts? Should he join in bashing the king’s head? Or should he deal with the fire first, lest they wanted all the other squishies to perish as barbecues?

He noted @Alphabet Chocolate ’s call for him to defend her honor. She’d been confronting the king directly, as far as he could tell. There was probably history there, though now wasn’t the time to do some digging on that front. Like all the other things before it, it just had to wait. Iván simply nodded at his mother mentor. Although he knew he wouldn’t be able to pay all his debts to that strange girl, he could at least try. Is she reviving someone?

That would have to wait, too, as soon enough, a group of adventurers managed to deal with the fire. He smiled from behind his mask when he noticed @Nikephoros was one of them. The bald Yladian… And then it happened. The queen left the king on his own to join in on the fun. She was far from where Iván was, so he decided right then and there to focus on her spell, the creature looming over him. Oh, right. Might as well. Iván commanded his Snow-Quilled Guardian to come to him. Together, they would break the queen’s spell. It was their purpose.

As Rivers continued to create his Ice-Wall, he heard the barking of someone to clean up the ice in the area. Those around him sprung into action, tossing large chunks of ice away from their zone into the flames. Whoever had commanded that must be powerful and respected. One day, he hoped to reach such a level...one day. As Rivers huddled behind his now erect ice wall, he heard a familiar voice call to him.

    "Rivers! Need a hand?"

Rivers turned an saw @Aristides running towards him. His furry friend made his way over to the ice wall and huddled behind it with him. That was surprising, Rivers hadn't expected to see any familiar faces in this fight. Joining in a World Boss fight was probably biting off more than he could chew, and he didn't think many other new players would join him. But, here he was. Rivers greeted him with a smile.

"So. Tentacles. Better or worse than wolves?"

"Definitely better. I only stepped in acid and got set on fire here. The wolves growled at me," he joked. Rivers was trying to lighten the mood, but he knew that was foolhardy. There was no lightening this mood until these bosses were slain. But, that goal was within reach.

"JUST A LITTLE MORE! PUSH FOR IT!" That sounded cool. He was like a sports team captain asking his team to dig deep for the last quarter...or whatever sports team captains did. It wasn't like Theo new anything about sports...only sports anime.

Eventually, enough ice was cleared that the zone's condition improved considerably. He could see and more around without hindrance now. It was fantastic! Now victory really was within their grasp!

"Let's do our best alright? She's just another obstacle in the way after all. Nothing to worry about..."

Rivers turned to see an unfamiliar woman glancing at him before shooting at the female boss. That was reassuring! But Rivers was already hopeful and determined. This would come to a close soon!

He saw his friend @Raid looking worse for the wear as he entered the zone. Another familiar face! Another familiar face that needed healing. Exerting some of what was left of his energy, Rivers healed Raid and himself. He had a feeling they'd both need the HP.

Ash shivered as the tainted ice filled the area. Curse this Caenis race for being little more than a human with a tail, rather than something useful like a good, thick coat of fur. He crossed his arms, teeth chattering, as Janet grew a plant amidst the frost and handed him one of the stalks.

...Broccoli? Well, if it were magically grown broccoli, then he had no reason not to accept it, though how you could grow it in the midst of a snowstorm... well, anyway. Ash shoved the whole floret into his mouth and chewed carefully. It was... exceedingly normal broccoli, and in the midst of this sensory chaos and violent bloodshed it could've been rotten and he'd have loved it. It was like an oasis in the desert.

"...T-thank you," he stammered out as the efforts of the others began to clear the tainted ice away. Bolstered by the broccoli's effects and the rising temperature, he turned his attention to the translucent maidens looming above and drew his sword. They might have been up above, but a longsword was called a longsword for a reason. It was good for things like his overhead swing, directed towards the nearest Guardian.

Spurred into action by the words of her fellow companion, @Rudiford Gwyndel, the woman danced out of the way as each member of the party played their individual against this particular obstacle. Some needed their concentration to perform their magicks, while she simply awaited her turn to put her own two cents into this battle against stupid game conditions and debuffs. Not that it was something she was surprised by, but the level of difficulty of Terrasphere and the adventures she had embarked upon first setting foot on Brisshal had just been escalating in difficulty. It was something she truly enjoyed.

Thanks to the efforts of the players that had brought some sense of warmth back to the frozen battlefield, clearing some of the floors where the most vulnerable and exposed amounts of the spell had been the first to fade. Without any question whatsoever, she dashed across the barren battlefield with all the speed her current zone's condition could allow, performing another swap of her weapons from the runestone back to her trusty gauntlets. One thing she had to admit, though, and it was that thanks to the one-eyed man's effort and the three women who had put their different masteries to work that she was able to move as she was.

When addressing the issue of the players who had been trapped by their feet by the magical source of their troubles, her answer was to shatter the remnants of Astor's spell, figuring out a position that'd leave her in similar proximity to each of the unfortunate adventurers. Finding her center, and with all the determination in the world to make use of an ability she had already performed when combined before with @Yule's own Hydromancy, she leaped into the air and fell down again with her right fist greeting the ice before the rest of her body did.

''Will this do?!'' She spoke to no one in particular, but loud enough for her voice to be heard above all the chaos that would surely ensue should her efforts prove to be futile. She kept her fists balled in front of her face as if to protect it from further harm, only allowing her combat stance to rest as she was taken aback by surprise... Or was it fear?

@Luna Avalbane was calling to her, and she was not alright.

From this point forward, zone 4 has been successfully cleared. The story tracker and play post have been updated to reflect this.

    Zone 4

Zone 4 was a complete bore and Astor did not even give their attempt a glance. Through haphazard cooperation and effort that built off of one another, starting with the pretend knight, @Rudiford Gwyndel, punch-girl @Portia Ahrens and wannabe hero @Yule clearing the path for the rest of the party to help the unfortunates who were caught by the nasty ice, @Usagi was able to get her strange contraption to work in melting the ice, all with out malfunctioning. In combination with @Celestine funneling the cold air to the other side, the ice hindrance was mostly cleared.

As Majolica continued to blast the king for what seemed like hours, The Grand Witch began to wonder how the people that had decided to go to the core were fairing.

Hehehe, I wonder if they're all dead? Hehehe, that wouldn't be good. Hehe, well they just come back so maybe it doesn't matter so much. Or, hehehe, I guess it would because then we'd all die, hehe, and i don't want to. If I died I'd let down all the people that I'm protecting by hearing and fighting this thing! Hehehe, I can't let that happen! Hehehe, let's try a more defensive attack!

Of course Ilusa nodded at the girl that ended up getting the heal intended for someone else. It was not as if she would admit out-loud that she missed; if luckily for the other woman.

Bolstered by Rudiford, other Players around started to do their best and deal with the ice covering the zone. Some used their magic. Some used their weapons. Bit by bit players banded together and worked it through.

Ilusa probably would have joined, but her mind was still stuck on the problem from before. She wanted to help Astor. Even the Astor before her, twisted like that. Her hands balled into fists when seeing a certain status at her own HUD gave her an idea. It was probably foolish, she was aware of that. It was grasping at straws, she was aware of that.

But her magic was White Magic. Magic also known as Holy Magic. The magic that revolved around purity, light, holiness, mending and healing. The magic that could dispel harmful effects ad heal. The magic that cleansed.

And what ailed Astor if not a taint?

Of course if it were some random Player that became King and got tainted, she would have thought nothing of it. She would have instead concentrated on healing the other Players and supporting them. But this was Astor. The man whom she met during the first day, the Player with whom she discovered the wonder of this virtual world, the first Player whom she healed.

And, either way, there was nothing to lose with her action. The enemies were being taken care of, the fields were brought back to normalcy. In fact, one could say that she has limited time to try it out. As the Players got used to the new Bosses and their patterns and abilities, the Bosses Health would be chipped away more and more.

This idea gave her resolve to face him, it gave her hope when every way of checking if he is real showed proof that yes, the man before her was in fact Astor.

Around her, light glowed. Her lips moved and whispered the musically sounding letters. The light intensified, it condensed. It was warmth and care. As she raised her hands, it pooled there, pure and holy. It whispered of happy times in the past and hope.

“Astor!” With a yell, the felis cast the spell on him. The white light wrapped itself around him. “Wake up and come back to your senses!”

"So this is the contents of the insides of Titanius," Tetsunosuke muttered as he entered the battle. But for some time, he did not move as he watch the body respond to the different attacks of the players within the body. He did not know why, but he wanted to watch on and see what would happen. That phenomenon when someone that looked like a fallen angel had swooped down and killed that tentacle was ingrained on his mind, and even his vast knowledge of magic and science could not explain either the Titanius, or that fallen angel before him that time. The lack of knowledge irritated him, and so he decided to watch on and see what really was this creature called Titanius. He watched on as the pus tentacle were ripped before his eyes, and that ominous eye inside Titanius' body was being attacked by the players. Nothing of those interested him that much, it was just like the epics he read, movies he watched, games he played. He was intrigued, though, when a bunch of people that looked like they were worshiping that creature started to appear before him. Shameful though that the cultusts were killed before they were absorbed... wait, there was that cultist that a certain witchy person had turned into a frog. Maybe he should inquire about that cultist for later. But when he saw two other people appear before his eyes, and people started to react as if they were prominent people in this world, he then started to act. This should be getting dangerous.

He then stared at the valkyries that were summoned by the woman of the pair. He did not know why they were summoned, but he knew they are up to no good for all of them. Realizing this, he then thrust his right arm to where the tantou was sheathed, and then when he drew again the tantou, it was now connected to a chain. He then hurled the tantou in the diagonally upward direction, and then with an arm swing, the tantou hurtled towards one of the valkyries, the tantou digging deep through its armor and possibly its flesh. With another arm swing, he then rammed the valkyrie into the others, entangling them in the process. And then, with a large arm swing and with a great groan, he then would plummet them onto the flesh of this monstrosity.
