Y'know.. work really sucks. Yes, it paid the bills. Yes, it helped support her beloved family. Yes, it was much more steady than the dwindling world that was her streaming career. But, and this was an incredibly large but, the amount of time wasted on mundane activities when something of epic proportions was going on was far too great.

It wasn't like the woman to complain; her financial situation simply wouldn't allow for constant smacking of the mouth. However, this was a special occasion. Upon logging into Terrasphere a special prompt popped up, alarming her of a boss battle. Like a moth drawn to a flame she eagerly agreed to be teleported to the battle only to find the event in full force.

The situation was hard to grasp. The King of Astorea and Queen of Falderen had gone, form the looks of it, completely insane. Or perhaps this had been their true identity all along. Shangri La wasn't sure: she'd never met the rulers and all opinions were only based on the games ever updating lore.

Far more advanced players easily took down the mad king. Unfortunately, she hadn't been able to put much time into the game and her stats were laughable. She hoped her experience with video games would be enough to pull her through this tedious, chaotic situation.

Utilizing her acrobatic skills, Shangri La managed to craftily slip into the fight. Hoping to attack from behind, or something vantage point that would stay out of the queen's peripheral, she quickly thrust her polearm forward in two quick motions. She feared staying any longer than that. Using her weapon and the wind, she was quick to leap away and maintain a safe distance.

The last spell dealt a nice blow to the queen so he decided to keep up the pace by moving in for a melee attack now. Of course it was intimidating to stand head on against a great lance and greatshield using only a rusty knife, but with his energy running low what choice did he have? He'd just have to wing it and hope for the best! …And get a new longsword once he was able to afford one.

Alric would approach from behind while the woman's attention was elsewhere. Somehow he managed to slip through the torrent of attacks that were bombarding D’vangeline and avoid being skewered on her lance as well. With the hilt of his knife gripped tight he ran the blade along her back with one long slash.

Staying in the back Vina had been watching most of the fight with great concern, gasping both in surprise and sadness when she saw D'Va and Astor corrupted by the Dissonance. It wasn't like she knew either of them personally, but seeing anyone like that was painful, and it was worse because these two had always had such a presence. If it could happen to them it could happen to anyone, Vina tightening her grip on her staff as she tried to think of the best thing to do.

Seeing Tetsunosuke get scraped across the hard floor and then thrown the white-haired Felis acted instinctively, raising one hand and concentrating as winds gathered to push against the man and soften his impact as he fell to the ground. She hastily moved towards him and kneeled next to him, checking his condition and sighing with relief when she saw that he was still mostly all right, even if his head hadn't appreciated the corrupted queen's brutality.

Don't worry, I'll fix you up real quick.

Reassuring the unfortunate combatant she placed her free hand above Tetsu's head, humming softly and planting the butt of her staff firmly on the ground as she concentrated until a healthy green glow began to emanate from her hand, spreading out to envelop Tetsu's head and remove the damage inflicted on him by D'Vangelline. As she worked on healing the man Vina briefly glanced towards the queen.

Her strong reaction might be a good thing, it shows that she still cares on some level.

Vina wasn't an expert on how the Dissonance worked, but it was clear that it tried to make all those who opposed it fall into despair and helplessness so they stopped resisting. The fact that D'Vangelline was reacting so strongly... Vina's thoughts were interrupted as she suddenly felt a wave of miasma swoop across the battlefield, filling her with a nasty sensation. Not a physical disease, but far more deadly in some ways.

Emil was not excited about standing anywhere close to the Queen in order to attack her. However, his miss chance was greater the further he was away and from his observation of Astor, it seemed as if the supports had him handled. His yells and screams of agony mixed with the ramblings of a madman was nothing something Emil had the ability to fix. Granted, he had little faith in the supports having the ability to fix him either, but he remained quiet on the subject.

Everyone needed to have a bit of hope here and there.

So, in accordance some of the other people in his zone, he made a dash toward where the Queen stood, his magic ebbing and flowing around him in ashen grey smoke. On his word, a torrent of small red missiles fired from him, aimed straight at D’va in the hopes of further wounding her and ending this nightmare.

Just as Cherish was about to send another axe strike upon the queen, she hears something from behind her. Turning around quickly, she manages to catch the thing that was flung at her. Before Cherish can make out anything more than that it is some kind of card, it fades from her hand. Looking up, Cherish spot where it came from - another one of the raid party members - along with a light green cloud headed her way. Cherish's eyes almost sparkle as she smiles, waving at the player who sent the buff her way.

Turning back towards the corrupted queen, The menacing grin returns to Cherish's features and she lets out another laugh. Cherish could feel the effects of the buff flow through her system. "You ready to try this again, Miss Queen?"

Launching strike after strike of cleaving blows, Cherish continuously sends attacks against the forsaken queen. Move around her one way; hit her shoulder. Spin around and switch directions; send the axe head to the woman’s hips. Dodge around her again; hit her square in the back. Whatever Cherish could do to get as many hits into this woman's pale and pure skin without getting hit herself, she would do with the help of her cat-like reflexes.

Before Celes could even process what was going on, a familiar young ice mage gave her what was clearly a tackle-hug fueled by the girl's inner loneliness and longing for Cel's motherly love. How else was she to interpret it, really?

...but before Celestine could wrap her arms around the girl, she managed to escape, partially due to the pain of getting hit by a human mortar.

"Fine. I will do my new friend the huggings because you are too busy doing yourself a magics and clearly cannot do the multitasks!"

Celes turned around, instantly picking out the girl in hot-pink. Yay, new friendships! Running up to @Usagi, Cel latched on in yet another totally invasive tackle-hug. Using a combination of Summoning and Spirit magic, a little fairy popped into existence and began to close the wounds around the constricted girl's body.

"I am thinking you are more 'Pinkie' than the other Pinkie I am knowing. I am Celestine," she introduced with a final pat on the girl's head, as the fairy finished up its work.

Alkaid had returned @Charlotte Breuil's gesture with a brief smile and a raise of her flask before, in a moment of better judgement, putting away her good travelling buddy just in time to catch the show.

The all-out battle at the center of the stage had become something both heartrending and bittersweet. Friends and strangers coming to the aid of one whom they knew, having to catch of glimpse of the man now tortured, a man whose emotional pain laid bare the dark underbelly of Virtual Reality.

Yet with new revelations came a blessing in disguise. A chance to save him, get him back on their side. One which she had to weigh against the lives of her comrades with intimate knowledge that this likely would not be the end of their fight. That they too were at risk of being swallowed by Dissonance.

In spite of this, however, Alkaid eased back, relaxed shoulders rising and falling evenly even as her mind raced with observations regarding the battlefield. Channeling energy into her deck, she allowed the mana to flow naturally so as to not deplete her reserves.

She would not jump at the first vision of someone else's death. Could not, at this point.

She did her best to patch Tetsu up as best as she could with what limited time she had, all the while humming softly both as medium for her magic and to help soothe the man so he wouldn't be burdened by the pain until the wound was minimized. She would have prepared to keep up her healing magics until the man was back to full health, but given the current situation she couldn't really afford to spend too much time on a single person, as there were others who also needed her aid.

Once the wound would no longer hinder the man she smiled gently at him and stroked his hair before standing up, looking somewhat apologetic.

Sorry, but there's others who also need tending to.

With that she stepped away and looked around, ears swivelling as she tried to focus amidst the chaos of the fight to see who was suffering the most. After some searching she spotted two girls in close vicinity of one another who both looked like they could use some more healing. Letting the winds flow freely around herself the white-tailed vixen swiftly dashed around the two enemies, ignoring the part of her that wished to approach them and try to cleanse them of the corruption. Others were already taking care of that, she had to take care of something else.

Once she was close enough she spread her hands wide and began to recite a short chant, her lyrical voice weaving through the air as the restorative magics flowed from her hands and followed her voice until it wrapped around her two intended targets, momentarily reminding them of lush forests and fresh air as their lesser wounds closed and their larger wounds were reduced, the druidess prioritizing any wounds that would get in the way of fighting.

“Just a little bit more… One, two, one, two. If only I get this right…” it had been a few minutes that the magitechian quietly meditated in place. Around specific spots on her armor, magitech devices had a faint glow as more and more energy charged them up. From within, a powerful feeling bubbled and the girl’s blood boiled in anticipation. Even though she stood still, adrenaline coursed through her veins as she neared the peak of her limit. Throughout her body, pain assaulted every fiber of her being due to the strain the devices put on her physical abilities in order to charge up. Leylines were extremely dangerous, unlike simply casting magic instead. Unbeknownst to her, however, someone approached.

Someone that pulled her tiny frame into a hug

“!?” Usagi woke up inside. Though she did not mind people invading her personal space ( she was guilty of doing that herself), even for her, that hug was too sudden. In response, the magitech spheres overcharged and the glow increased to the point it basked them in the blue light. Iff things continued like that, they would both blow up! Usagi sweated profusely as she looked left and right, unsure of how to proceed. She could shove the catgrill away, but that would be rude considering her friendly fire earlier.

    Dramatic gasp, the second

So she gasped for as much air she could, her cheeks puffing up like a puffer fish. This eventually managed to force her to concentrate and keep her ley lines in check, balancing the charging devices. She nodded in response to, her face a mix of red and purple due to a lack of oxygen. When @Celestine let go of her, Usagi released the air in a long huff. She’d need to concentrate on getting ready for her trump card again. That was fine, especially now that she knew there were people who cared for her. It was enough motivation for to press forward towards zone 3 to face the enemy. This time she wouldn't mess up, no blown up castles!

Alpha was exhausted, the metaphysical gunk was everywhere on her, and Astor was having a nervous breakdown. How embarrassing. She felt some pity for the man at the massive gathering who were observing his rambling words and nonsensical slurs. It was like he was a drunkard being humiliated on live television and, if she didn't have the slightest bit of sympathy for the king, she would've turned on the camera option on her game HUD and broadcast it to the entire userbase to see for the likes and kudos. But that'll be like kicking a dog to get media fame and Alpha didn't particularly like those kinds of viral videos (what's the point of a joke if nobody's laughing and is busy feeling sorry for the guy?).

And so she looked away, a wave of second-hand embarrassment running through her, and instead lifted her arm up and watched as the vambrace lit up. Little fat, portly oompa-loompas with mini sledgehammers appeared in wisps of flame before they marched, in a single-file line, through the area.

"Fear my army of Oompa-Loompas!" Alpha cackled, pointedly ignoring Astor. Best to pretend she didn't have any connection to the strange guy. "Now watch as they destr—"

The Kindling Embers began to help the Players all around, using their magic to soothe burns and heal scrapes. Alpha watched on, horrified, as one Kindling Ember came up to her and idly began to bandage her ankle. She was tired, sporting a headache, and was now stomping her feet in frustration. "No!" Alpha whined, punching her arms up in the air to accentuate her newest temper tantrum.

"You're supposed to be bloodthirsty killers! Not-not-not...this!" she gestured to the entirety of the Kindling Ember tending to her and, in a huff, the summoned spirit vanished into a plume of hot air. "Attack! Attack! Obliterate the opposition! Annihilate our foes! Bring glory to the Alphabet Chocolate empire!" she commanded, her demands going unanswered and unheard.

"AAAHHHHHHHH... OUCH!" Jericho clenched his fingers in a combination of anger and pain, looking at his arms where the tentacles decided to make themselves known. He was frustrated now. Constantly picked up and kicked back down by the pain. But, on the bright side he was a little less tired. He stood back to his feet uneasily. He had to do something to end this faster. He looked on to see... Oompa-Loompas?

A small thing of energy came up to him and began soothing the wounds he had just sustained. "Uh... T-thank you?" He said very visibly confused. But as soon as they had appeared, they vanished! OK! That was weird but he couldn't let that faze him. He slapped the mask on his face with both hands a couple times to wake and psyche himself up. @Daegon Malak "Alright, I'm heading over there!" He pointed toward queen whats her face and began running straight for her.

He ran and jumped over the area where Astor now rested for now, doing a flipping rotation. He stuck the landing then began running again, hugging the ground sticking to what shadows he could. He quickly ran up and made a precise stab for her leg. He narrowly dodged retirbution for his action as he saw the shield graze his mask. He flipped over the top of her sticking the landing near @Raid with his hands in the air like a V. "Oh hey Raid! How long have you been here? Having fun?" He said excited to see his friend still lived. Some crazy things have been happening here!

Finally, after numerous gut and kidney shots. A few bunny punches, and a whole of bunch of grappling and leg sweeps, Astor was down.

"Hehehehe! That's what you get you dummy blonde goblin! Hehehe!"

Now that the king was down, Majolica could focus her attacks on the queen, who seemed to be going on quite the rampage on a different zone.

Hehehe, one down, one more to go! But first, hehehe, I'll have to add insult to injury! Hehehe, I am a dark hero after all!

Majolica called back her broomstick and the other Majolicas.

"Hehehe, we did it Domina Majolica! Hehehe, we beat that dummy up good!"

"Hehehehe, yes we did, but now you all know what must be done."

The nine Majolicas giggled maliciously as they headed towards the downed Astor.

    "Hehehe, coming through!"

The Majolicas pushed through the others offering the prime Majolica a way to get to his body. As Majolica walked up, she saw the golden haired king layed out.

"Hehehehe, you weren't so tough, were you dummy! Hehehe, calling people mongrels, and now look at you. Hehehe, I guess it's time for me to finish this! Hehehe!"

Majolica reached into her bag ominously and pulled out.... a pie. It was mushroom, chocolate, and whipped cream. Honestly, it looked quite delicious, like a master baker had worked tirelessly to create the dessert. Using her finger, The Grand Witch poked it into the top of the pie and then tasted the delicacy.

    "Hehehe, perfect."

Crouching down, Majolica slowly shoved the pie into Astor's face, being sure to grind it in as she did. She savored every moment of the act. She moved the pie in circles to make sure it good coverage using a technique she had seen a kid that was learning karate use to wax a car in a movie.

"Hehehe, yesssss. How's the clown now, stupid dummy king mongrel goblin... hehehe"

Feeling satisfied, the Majolicas turned their attention to the rampaging Queen.

A loud voice rang in her head, urging her to recklessly jump back into the fray. Adrenaline screeched at her to join the pandemonium: another cog in the contradictorily chaotic and orderly raid machine.

The long-haired woman was almost all too eager to please the pounding war drums echoing throughout her head. Something held her back, though.

An uncomfortable pressure caused her to hesitate. The dissonance inside her head waged a silent civil war as her conscious voice of reason tried to negotiate with her. Shangri La paused in her constant motion, the combative nature of her brain enough to give her a second of true pause.

Luckily, Shangri La quickly reigned in her thoughts. A second moment of contemplation was all she needed. With her dinky polearm raised as a makeshift shield, Shangri La summoned lightning to strike and wind to buffet the rampant queen.

The general consensus, it seemed, was to throw everything they had at the remaining enemy on the field. Emil’s one good eye glanced upwards at the darkened obsidian ceiling above them. There were actually two enemies on the field, one of them just appeared human. He swallowed the nerves that threatened to clog his throat and returned his attention to the battlefield.

Yet, when he leveled his gaze upon the ground once more, he was surprised to find a very small person wrapping his free hand in gauze. There was a sweet smell coming from it and Emil could only assume that there were healing properties in the bandage. He smiled and gave a small nod as the little person meandered away to another raid-mate, bandaging them as well.

Exhaling, he cast a glance toward the queen and allowed another flaming hot sphere for energy to shoot from his fingers and collide with her body.

With the concentrated attack on the terribly distorted Astor, who was struggling to push Titanius out of his exploited psyche, the group was able to bring down the destructive king, forcing him on his knees. That was when the internal struggle really began as he started to scream at the top of his lungs, his form appearing as though it was splitting. Titanius had taken over his mind and their form physically merged, thus making the removal process more difficult. Fortunately for the lonely king, his one true companion @Ilusa Nakhalee came and performed the last of the dispel necessary to expel Titanius from him.

While she held him in her arms, he began vomiting a viscous black liquid onto the obsidian floor. Within the blink of an eye, however, the liquid vanished into thin air. Black liquid of a similar color and texture also dripped from his nose, ears, and eyes. After wiping the slimy substance off his face, he let out a long painful groaned as he pushed himself off of the ground with Ilusa's support. He alerted the group,

Save every bit of dispel for the queen, she's even deeper in the takeover than me. He coughs Shit... this is bad. This entire place is gonna--

Just as he was about to finish his sentence, a massive tentacle came down from the ceiling, aiming directly at zone three, Astor summoned what little energy he had left to form a massive ice spike that ripped the ground open and deflected Titanius attack. Though it seemed he was tapped out for now.

D'vangelline was growing angrier as time passed by, she was deeply puppeted by Titanius and enraged, no amount of defense could stop her from tearing through the ranks of players, attempting to rip them to shreds. She was so lost in fury that she could no longer even speak properly. She was one with Titanius now since Astor had been freed from its control. Its will was her will and its anger was her anger.

Looking around the battlefield, her monstrous golden eyes searched for those who had drawn her ire. When she discovered one of the assailants who had dared confronting her. The monster roared before she dashed toward @Nikephoros with her massive spear drawn and ready to jab it through his midsection. When she only managed a light blow, she immediately raised the lance and began to swing it down onto him as though she was wielding a bludgeon until he is battered and bloody, but even if she smashed every one of his bone to pieces, it did not relieve the fury that coursed through her blood.

Next, she groaned a spell into her lance before pointing it at @Tetsunosuke. Moments later, a massive heavenly-shaped spear that was at least 8 feet long came down from the ceiling and completely obliterated him. The impact, formed a shock-wave that staggered everyone who were present on the battlefield.

Finally, she turned to @Blank. After aiming her lance at the girl, she summoned an ethereal Valkyrie that flew directly at the mage. The summon crashed into the girl and ended up pinning her against the obsidian wall.

D'vangelline then turned and looked at the rest of the assailant with great animosity, a threatening aura surrounded her, challenging them to get within her range.
