As Bradwynne finished the spell to heal that woman, he felt so dizzy that he found it so hard to sit. He then lied down, but the dizziness did not stop. The combination of the general lack of stamina from the lost blood and the lack of energy in his body was taking a toll on him. Was this his end? He had been entrusted with this mission, and now he felt he was so useless that he could not even help anybody. As he viewed what was happening at the core, when he saw two people dying from an attack from this creature called Titania. Surely this would not happen if he was a good enough of a warrior or support. Maybe somewhere out there, there was a strong person who was sulking why he or she was not invited in this dangerous mission. Someone stronger than him, for that matter. Maybe he was unworthy after all. The Dissonance... the demons had left his spirit and moved out elsewhere, but he was still feeling that way. It was not the demons that was goading him to loathe himself for his weakness; he was angry at himself for being too much of a weakling.

As the first of the two dead as well as another player went back from the battle, he heard her speaking towards him, to revive the fallen support. Unable to look at her, he just responded, tiredly, "Looks like... I can't revive her right now... expended too much of my energy... I am sorry for being such a burden to you all... maybe I was too useless for you after all... maybe there's someone much more worthy than me in this mission... after all..." He then stopped speaking as he tried to muster his energy for him to move about and try to regain his stamina by cooking something.

    Breathe out.

Nalla stepped back away from the bodies. Her legs shouted to rest, so she fell back onto her rear, sitting and looking at the corpses. As the impact hit the ground of the Soul Path, her mind was jolted, like lightning into a toaster. With her eyes upon the bodies, she did not see the visage of death. Instead, she saw... The stars.

Galaxies, vast and endless. Universes reaching as far as thought, and then beyond that. She stared into the beautiful, empty infinity, packed to the brim with life, hidden upon the distant surfaces of comets and meteors. The vast beauty of a world unforeseeable, like a painting with details impossibly complex and deep. Her eyes were telescopes, and she stared into this boundless forever, with each glance staring deeper. She saw more and more, as her eyes focused closer and closer, soaring through the endless, full void. Things passed her by, and things became far, but some meteors dared to travel alongside her.

Along with these flying things, the slideshow of thought hit her. She stood at a viking festival, looking across the path towards a stranger. A stranger named @Claire Thalassa, that would become her first friend. She pondered down a waterside path in Stokbon with @Solaria, learning about people and places. She sneaked through an alleyway with a Felis on a covert operation. Suddenly, as they tried to enter through the window, they were nearly caught. She and @Kyupin Felnya ran far from the scene, not to be caught by the authorities. She unexpectedly made a friend in @Alonso Thorlion. She blasted bandits into the air with great fires, glancing over towards @Gwyn ap Herne, a competitive smirk on her face. She wouldn't be left behind. She stopped in front of the unfamiliar face that would watch over her home for her, during her trip across the world. @Rat was the name this person chose for her character, and their friendship continued.

At the end of this endless space, the edges of reality became seen, and an ring of fire became seen, as she fell into the gaping, growling maw of an incredible beast.

To the others around her, she had merely stumbled back, staring at the bodies. The pyromancer was motionless, other than a minor quivering.

A collapsing star. A broken sword. A stain against stone.

A brilliant score. A crimson garden. A feather, joined by more.

He smouldered and internalized his hatred at his team members, at his foe. Tossed the burning coals into the furnace to feed his self destructive tenacity further. Always at the brink. He always made it back moments before, just at the brink of exhaustion, the boundary line of dream and reality. The dance would continued. In and out, in and out, in and out. Some voice spoke out self-depreciatingly, and Cain had to wonder. Was it another? Or just himself?

Nalla burned with fire. Kyupin burned with fury. Gwyn burned with unspent might. Rat burned in blood. Roland burned his mind. Aalam burned his throat. They all burned and burned and burned.

    But none of them froze.

There was still a fight to be fought, a song to be sung, an evil to be vanquished.

    Seigi was not here.

    He will not feast.

    Cain burned.

Roland sat down, crossing his legs underneath him as he closed his eyes once more. Things were becoming desperate but now was not the time to panic. He needed to recover as much energy as possible, as quickly as possible to be useful in the coming fight. After all there was a good chance he'd be needed in the near future. Breathing deeply he tried to block out everything around him. Specifically he tried to block out the two dead bodies next to him. He knew what would happen. Brad would revive one of them, and possibly Rat, or Cain would revive the other. There was nothing he could do to help. At least not yet.

Bradwynne tried to close his eyes shut, trying to rest for a moment. "Yeah... after what I said, I really proved myself that I am useless. But I had no right to be angry about it, it was what I really am for the moment, just a burden among the heroes of legend. Maybe some other person might have done a better job." Within the solace of those pernicious, self-depreciating thoughts, he took a rest from all the happening around him. But as he was almost delving into deep sleep, he was seeing something, as if from a not distant past. A stain in the damp ground. A creature walking away after it had did the deed. A failed resurrection. Would he let it happen again? Where's that promise with himself, that no one would be left behind?

Suddenly Bradwynne stood on his feet, and moved by his sheer willpower, towards the direction of the voice earlier, and possibly where the fallen body had been lying. Although whatever happened to this woman was gruesome, there was nothing more gruesome than the thoughts he had earlier. Mustering all his energy into casting a spell that he knew would revive the woman, it was evident from the growing pallor in his face that he was trying to cast the spell with alll his might. After muttering Hebrew words in quick succession as drips of sweat was forming on his forehead, he then shouted with fury about his feelings earlier, "METATRON!" Something that looked like an open book formed at his front, and as he saw it, he then thrust the crucifix of the rosary on it. Hopefully it would not fail this time.

Listening to @Bradwynne whine over the two corpses of allies, friends, kindred at arms in this fight sickened her more than the ill metal blade. A muscle twitched in her cheek and her fingers fisted wetly into the side of the fallen healer laid mangled before her knees. Each and every word was just another pat on the back for Bradwynne. Another hook cast for sympathy or insult or injury. She didn't care if he intended it or not. She didn't care his age behind his youthful face. She didn't care his maturity or his history or his thoughts clicking together in the inner workings of his skull.

She cared that he gave more of a shit about his shortcomings than the lives sitting just in front of him. He spoke again after a silent second heavy with her restrained violence. For a glorious moment, she thought he'd correct himself. Break that self-deprecation and self-pity over his own knee, put it in a brace of steel, and bend it back into proper shape.

"The fuck is wrong with you? You sure you're tapped out on energy because you're wasting a hell of a lot of it blowin' hot air." She snarled and reached out in an attempt to snag the front of his clothing and haul him close. Close enough to see the minute jagged edges of her scars and close enough to drown in her words. "You, useless? No. Your bullshit excuses? Yes. Shut the fuck up. Do what you came here to do or wait until you can. You out of energy? Fucking say as much. I don't want to hear about how you're a worthless worm compared to us. How dare you! We're people too. We're not some fucking legends. We're not heroes or gods or immortal champions. We're just people. Some playing a game. Some living a life. But we're fallible and we ain't perfect. Don't you dare put us on a pedestal and wallow in pity below." Her words were a furious snap, each meeting of her teeth the clamping of her canines' jaws.

She pulled back to stand between the still forms of Rat and Aalam. "Don't you make any of us less than what we are. And don't you ever. Use me. As a way to hurt you. You ever try and measure yourself wanting against me? I'll lessen that weight when I knock your fucking block off, kid."

The huntress waved a hand sharply, as if to strike away the conversation, and turned her back as the support finally did what needed to be done. Let him have his victory over defeat. Let Rat gasp her way back to life and pry Aalam from whatever bottle he'd found in Hell. She felt like she was going to be sick. She needed to calm down. To breath. To rein it in and turn it toward a different enemy. One she wouldn't feel guilty about hitting later.

As she fell into the mouth of the beast, fire wrapped around her. It tore through her skin, ravaging her form, and eating her alive. At first, the pain was horrible, and only her own screams could be heard. Panic set in, and the burning was horrific. Agony ran through her as though she'd been injected with gasoline lit ablaze. Her heart rate rattled at an uncontrollable pace... But then, it faded away. The fire that branded her had left its mark, and no longer held her in hostility. It wrapped around her like blankets, and caressed her corpse into a slow, painless death. The flame had become her friend.

Breath in. Breathe out. Breathe in. She hyperventilated.

Suddenly, Nalla came to, her daydreaming trance coming to an abrupt halt. @Rat had been returned to them by @Bradwynne, so there was some sort of formal dues to be taken, but it seemed that his comments had brought on the wrath of @Gwyn ap Herne. The pyromancer had never witnessed the veteran player enraged. She watched the interaction with wide eyes.

    Maybe a bit excessive, Gwyn...

    Hahaha! YES, I LIKE HER!

The purple haired female now turned her attention towards the revived one lying before her, crawling towards @Rat carefully, as though she were approaching a peacefully sleeping animal. "Hey." She got close enough to nudge the shoulder of the friend, hoping that there would be some sort of response. Though it was still very reassuring to see the steady breathing returning to the previously lifeless form.

"I'm glad you're alive, friend." She scratched the back of her own head, "I hope your death wasn't too painful. It looked kinda... Bad." She remembered with vivid detail spectating what had happened. Blood. Wounds. It was quite the view, she had gotten. She crouched next to Rat. "I'mma head out there and give em' one for ya, okay?"

After letting out a deep breath, Roland opened his eye to see @Rat had recovered thanks to @Bradwynne. Taking a moment away from his resting, Roland stood up, eying the young guard. He had come a long way since their first encounter, and it seemed bringing him here was a good idea. Still a quick look at his status bar, indicated he was pushing himself to his very limit. They all were. Tension was heavy in the air, and Gwyn had tore into Brad before she had left. Gently, Roland laid his hand upon Brad's shoulder and said, "You're doing well. Take a break."

It was simple but it was all he could muster at the moment. Turning he eye'd his more quiet comrades, until his eyes settled on Rat, and Aalam. The girl was a bit of a hot head from what Roland had seen, but even that had been sparse as he had passed out for the majority of their time together on the battlefield. Still he had seen she was at least capable of some magic, "I'll be honest, I'm not sure what you are capable of, but if you have the ability to raise Aalam there like Brad did for you, we will be in much better shape than we were two minutes ago..." He paused, "That said, after dying I don't think I could ask either of you to return. But it might be necessary."

Roland swatted the air as he headed back, as if the thoughts in his head were bugs he could simply crush. It wasn't that easy, and he knew it. However, he had to try and sit down and relax. The more energy he could recover now...the more he could use later...

    They talked a lot.

    Shut the fuck up.

What mattered were actions, not words.

So why were they still talking.

Why give someone a pep talk, when the only thing that mattered was his ability to continuously pump away healing in the Soul Path? Why slap each other on the back and say courageous, inspiring shit when none of them could stick around in the Core for more than a few seconds before being wiped to near-death by Titania?

He breathed in, out, in, out. Swapped in, out, in, out. Recovered in, out, in, out.

Meaningless. All the frills were meaningless. This late in the stage, all excess had to be cut.

A diamond, chipped into a needle thin stake.

A stake, driven into the heart of this horrid beast.

    Focus, focus, focus.

    It was time, soon.

Back in the realm of the living, after getting blended by flying demon swords. She could add Puree to the list of special forms she'd taken on with her skills in disguise, at the very least. A glance about... it seemed people were doing poorly. Desperate and without much hope. Roland nearby inquired about whether or not she could bring back Aalam, who had apparently died as well. She dismissed the notion immediately- the man was a notorious drunkard... then again, who around here wasn't? But she also did not know the man, and once she revived a person, that was it. Finito, no more. Not unless the fight was going to stretch out for two weeks, to allow another her another one.

But there were other healers who could probably manage it. So, shrugging, she merely pointed in the direction of Cain. He liked to be the hero anyway- let him revive the dead rogue. Rat just sat and fumed silently, focusing on recovering herself for the time being.
