With the battle nearly coming to an end, Ceres felt that she could afford to take a quick rest, she was dead tired and could barely stand after all the fighting. Magic was draining in ways she didn't even think was possible but her work wasn't quite finished yet. Everyone would probably need her help to dispel the Dissonance from D'vangeline. Of course, she was worried about what Astor said with the deeper corruption, what could a newbie like her do against such power? Regardless of her worries, she found a spot near the back and took a much needed breather. The air smelled of blood, fire and all sorts of unpleasant things but she could still breathe, that was the most important thing in the end.

With the second boss brought low this for the moment slowed down. Raid allowed himself a moment to sit and breathe. The battle wasn't over, Titanius would soon continue the attack on them. He looked over as players grouped around the fallen boss casting magic to cure them of the corruption.

He did not know what it would mean to save these characters, though he did wonder what would have happened if they had not thought to cure them and had actually killed them.It was likely for the best they hadn't and if they managed to recover fast enough, perhaps they could help finish off Titanius.

Milah had joined the Monster Hunters on a whim and after heavy insistence from Lycia. If the Felis was honest she still wasn’t entirely sure how it would affect their overall gameplay, and amidst a quest here and an adventure there Milah had entirely forgotten about the selected faction after some time—the various UIs about current events unread.

It didn’t help much that RL events had kept Milah away from the game for a couple of days now, mainly revolving around figuring out what new school their parents would be sending the twins off to, and for that time the VR game had sat and waited. Not entirely forgotten of course, but untouched for a longer period than what Milah would have honestly liked—which was a big thing considering she had never thought much about games before.

That had always been Lycia’s realm after all, her twin sister often enjoying this or that game with friends from their old boarding school. Meanwhile Amelia had never understood the thrill of them, preferring instead to do physical activities in school such as soft ball practice or archery.

Had it not been for Francine’s nagging, promising again and again that Amelia would not regret this one bit, and the fact that her sister’s game invite had come from a dubious email at best the teen wasn’t sure she wouldn’t be standing where she was now… not that Milah understood where exactly the pair had just been teleported to.

”L-Lycia?!” There was a squeak to her voice that, had it not been for the various impaled bodies about or merged bodies within obsidian walls, would have embarrassed her in any other moment. ”W-where… just where exactly are we?!”

Mouth was half agape even as Milah’s arms dangled besides her, largely forgotten as those hazel eyes took in the entirety of their new surroundings. Ears flickered at the different sounds and rucks around them, the hairs along her tail standing on end in clear discomfort, while her nose twitched now and again in dislike of the various scents around them.

It hardly mattered though, for a familiar hand was soon clutching Milah’s tightly, pulling the Felis out of her shocked trance as Lycia’s voice rung loud and clear—already pointing at something, a boss or whatever, and encouraging Milah to just shoot it like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Milah and Lycia (with Lexii’s permission ofc) have joined the fray! :D

Soft sizzling filled the air as the storm purged the flames around Yukisa, and what flames it did not put out, were headed directly for Astor. Personally he didn’t approve of such a thing, as he feared harming his lover the real king.

His fears only grew as the man began mumbling somewhat psychotically, screaming about someone or something to get out of his head. That sounded suspiciously as though he were attempting to reject Titanius from his body.

And at last, his suspicions were confirmed. The group had successfully dispelled Astor, and though he still appeared to be weak, Yukisa couldn’t help but smile slightly as he leaned on his spear. Does this mean that, unlike last time, there would be no need to kill someone? Would he really be able to help without having to sacrifice human lives? His redemption arc truly was possible this time around.

Now, all that was left was to take care of Dv’angelline.

Unfortunately, Yukisa wasn’t so attuned with his support side that he would be able dispel D’va, so instead he encouraged his allies from the sidelines, and even attempted to convince the woman to return to their side.

Please calm down, ma’am!” he called in her direction, cupping his hands over his mouth. “We’re on your side. We want to help you. Tits- er, Titanius is manipulating you!”

Obviously, he didn’t expect too much to come out of that, however he would hate to stand still and do nothing to assist.

And like a god, he descended upon the eldritch landscape, heralded by phantasmal flagbearers. Wreathed in the azure hue of Harmonics, wielding Melodics with each thrum of his radiant lute, the midnight haired muse, unmolested by his wild times in the Core, landed upon the scorched battlefield, one knee dropping by the fallen angel, the one he would always think of as the First Princess of Falderen.

Flagbearer, Lancer, Valkyrie. Her lifeforce ebbed, but it was in this moment of weakness that the sickness could be purged from her form the most easily.

His soul can rest in the Path. Over on this side, his body was still brimming with energy.

"Let's commence the operation," Cain spoke, his hands raised out like a conductor of a grand orchestra. "Ladies, follow my cue. We shall purge the princess's sickness and ensure that she is in good enough health to fight back with her own might once again."

And with a flourish, a rippling of twelve hundred beats, the Harmonic Symphony began, excising the Dissonance out with the precision of a laser beam.

Alpha blushed from all the praise although healing hadn't exactly been her primary concern. It was...odd to be the center of such positive attention. Normally she'd be catching everyone's eye through her eccentricity and hearing such unexpected displays of gratitude both warmed her heart and made her incredibly sheepish. Blood was defying gravity and rushing up to her head...which scientifically made sense if you assumed that Alphabet Chocolate's brain was replaced with a black hole at birth (which was plausible considering her recent activities) and was currently focused on consuming everything in its void of nothingness (which was also plausible when you consider Alphabet's predilection for eating anything of edibility or, in some cases, inedibility).

Thoughts that once ran through her head ceased and, before she could stutter out a few more 'You're Welcomes', she toppled over backward. A mixture of both elation at all the adulation and the weariness that ran through her bones from the non-stop action had taken its toll and, collapsing on both Hector and Potato, she embraced the sweet warmth of sleep.

In her head, she dreamed of mini colorful potatoes carrying her to a courtroom of cheese.

Usagi rushed to zone three in hopes she could try and help the adventurers fight, but it turned out that by the time she managed to reach the battlefield, they were done with the queen already. Since the cornhead king was already fine, the brunette sighed in momentary relief. She knew that nothing had come to an end yet, but she needed to stop for a moment and catch her breath. She plopped down on the dark obsidian floor and concentrated, trying to keep her magitech in check. Much to her surprise, her new friend tackle-hugged herself once more.

She introduced herself as @Celestine. “That’s a nice name right there, buddy! Call me Usagi, Usa, whatever works!” She pointed to herself with her right thumb, a large grin on her face. “Are you okay, no injuries?” Usagi asked, her tone a mix of politeness and worry for her new friend, even though the answer was clear. “I’m sure you know that, but don’t let your guard down. We have yet to finish that gross-looking eye- uh?”

Before she could finish her sentence and begin working into clik-clacking her equipment, the fairy managed to snatch her attention. She approached, looking at the tiny creature massaging the catgirl. “Is that a fairy?” Curiosity filled her bright and lively eyes. She tried her hand on other schools of magic before, but never managed to get into any of the more natural ones. Whether by a lack of ability, sensibility, or her inclination to magitech. “Seems handy to have one of them around!” she said in pure glee for having the chance to look at the magical creature.

“It’s a shame I can’t do much fancy things like that!” She showed her heavily modified crossbow and activated the security lock. Ka-chak! “Can't help but make and use destructive things, hehe…” She laughed, slightly embarrassed at her own invention.

Although the battle continued raging on, Rudiford quickly ran to the corner where he could take refuge from danger in order to log out while his character recover some energy. When he woke up in real life, the player behind the sassy knight character quickly ran into the kitchen and prepared himself a meal at the speed of light. He boiled the water in a pot and put refrigerated noodles into the liquid before he cut the flavoring packet and poured its content into the steaming pot.

Afterward, he grabbed a hunk of beef from the fridge and used his knife to get extremely thin slices. Once the beef was in the water, he cut up scallion and sprinkled it on top. Last, he topped it off with an egg. He had never eaten so fast in his life, not slowing down a second to enjoy the taste of semi-gourmet ramen.

Once he was done, the bespectacled man quickly hopped back onto his bed, took his glasses off and re-entered the world of Terrasphere, his stomach full of the comforting noodle dish he made in 5 minutes.

"Oh shit, okay, I am back and am not dead, great, let's do this!" Rudiford cheered.

Stand your ground, stand your ground!

Several blows landed on D’vangeline’s greatshield, eliciting loud clanking sounds from its surface. Even in her madness, the girl knew that even a single mistake could lead to her demise in a matter of seconds. Just like with her father, she knew the the bloodthirsty immortals would not hesitate to deal a coup de grâce to her if the opportunity arose.

As she traded blows after blows, the child of light reflected on the life she had led. She thought she had let go of her grudge, yet Titanius managed to prove her wrong, and with such ease… Perhaps what she really wanted to do was to avenge her father and kill the immortals until they would not rise again. Her sense of guilt and grief allowed Titanius to become one with her, turning her from a dignified ruler into a puppet on a string.

At this point, the valkyrian knight was completely lost within her storm. Titanius’ tainted whispering was getting louder, spurring her to kill, and kill, and kill. But at some point, she had completely forgotten why she was even fighting.

Little by little, D’vangelline’s grasp on her shield weakened as her legs shook under the pressure of the unrelenting attacks. Before her, a magical abomination used its deformed and tendril-clawed hand in an attempt to breach her defenses. Despite its size, each blow had enough power to force the queen to go on the defensive. Eventually, the attacks managed to unarm the child of light of her greatshield, diminishing her ability to defend herself. Before she had the chance to retaliate, a magical bolt struck her forcing her on her knees. Like that, her suffering at the hands of dissonant takeover finally came to an end. The fallen knight’s frame met the obsidian ground with a thud. However, due to the group’s inability to rip her out from her altered state, D’vangelline began to convulse violently as she struggled to push Titanius out on her own.

You hear a deafening noise that you cannot comprehend. Listening to it for more than three seconds was enough to bring you down to your knees in pain.

When the Valkyrian knight was defeated, the entirety of the obsidian-like material shifted in color, steadily losing its black pigment. Pores and tentacles came to life once more as the environment’s fleshy-red and pink hues returned in another metamorphosis. This time, however, the otherworldly monster had become enraged and everything turned into a violet and insidious color. All around the group, the fleshy walls convulsed while the ground shifted and mutated, pushing them towards the middle, where a large cavity eagerly awaited for them.

Because of the slippery surface, not a single person was able to avoid plummeting 40 feet into what anyone could only assume to be the horror’s stomach. Those who were closest to the wall were caught by the sticky wall that immediately began drawing them into the fleshy interior. They were consumed.

The flesh at the end of the fall was soft enough to cushion the group’s fall, allowing them to get away with minimal injuries. However, a massive tremble could be felt as the surface of Titanius’ stomach tilted. The deeper part of the battlefield quickly filled with bubbling stomach acid. Those who fell into it and was unable to climb out melted to the bones as Titanius absorbed their liquified essence.

At the center of the slanted battlefield was the eyeball they fought earlier that day. However, it was pitch black and appeared slimy as though it had been coated with black tar. At the center of the eye, the iris opened up to reveal rows of teeth lined within the eye’s flesh. A few unfortunate players fell right into the gape and were gobbled up immediately.

As the adventurers began occupying the battlefield, eye slits opened all over the spherical black mass. Beneath the eyeball were a bundle of fleshy cord that appeared to extend beyond the surface. It was likely the thing that is controlling the various tentacles around the battlefield.

The final battle against Titanius has begun.

"AIIIIIE" Blank cried again as she was once again, falling through the air. Why did this keep happening to her? She had been preparing yet another powerful ice spell, to send towards that stupid looking lady with the hat who had thrown that spear thing. How dare she. But in the middle of the swan double cast, the ground had given out beneath her sending her plummeting downward, and this time she wouldn't have any cat pad to land upon.

Eventually she landed in some sort of viscous liquid, as opposed to rock, which was good. Unlike rock, however, the liquid quickly began to eat at her clothing, burning her exposed skin, which was not good. "EEEEIIII!" Blank screamed as she ran out of the sticky liquid, her clothing becoming much more risque than she'd prefer.

Utilizing Aeromancy, she propelled herself eastward, blazing through an entire zone, creating a ripple of the liquid as she did, and spraying the others as she passed. Soon, she was out of the danger and upon dry-ish land, however, it soon became obvious that they were within the belly of a crazy tentacle monster. Having seen enough anime to know where this was headed, Blank scream thrusting her staff at the eye full of teeth, showering it in a rain of ice spears.

Perhaps joining the game was a mite bit of a mistake. He could see how this was lining up already. The future path he has taken only a lone step on winded into something dangerous and undeniably lethal. The immortality of the game and the armor of deadened nerves didn't make the sight of Titanius any less unnerving. Frightening.

They'd made it angry. The played had pried two toys from its grasp and the tantrum it would throw could devour nations. What sort of abomination belonged in this game? Certainly not this. Feryn wouldn't know for sure, but he was willing to make an educated guess. Whatever gods in his binary world, he hoped only that they had mercy for meek hearts. His own was busy fluttered like canary wings between his ribs. It was an instinct proved immediately correct as the battlefield warped around them and a veritable lake of what appeared to be stomach acid sloshed through the chamber and ate away at the skin of those unlucky enough to have fallen into it.

Feryn pressed his back closer to the wall of the organ? Chamber? Behind him before jolting away from it as it flexed. It was alive. Yes. That. He should take better care to remember that. He pulled his faintly trembling hands from each other and glanced over the raiding party. They looked picked to pieces and Feryn flustered. So very many required help and he was barely in any position to offer it to one. He could be of use. There were things trapped in here and made one with Titanius, but separate, but whole that could be of use. They were mindless figments. Little more than what hadn't been long consumed.

The Caenis flattened a hand, palm up, and felt cold fingertips drag across it in greeting. Not far away, not seconds later, @Raid would feel the same cold touch in a soothing glide across skin blistered by the acid. It was as much as the broken-minded wisp could do. Feryn thanked it for even that much.

No sooner had Raid sat down did the enter area begin to shift around them. A terrible sound echoed throughout the room and then it all began to crumble away. Raid tried to stand but instead found himself plummeting instead.

    Oh shi-!

Raid plunged into a pool of what he could only imagine was acid that immediately began to burn away the skin all over his body. He cried out in pain as his flesh burned and blistered, this in combination with the corruption made him almost certainly look and feel like a burned and broken mess. He pulled himself up and quickly started making his way toward the closest shore out of the acid.

Ahead of him he could see the Eye of Titanius once more staring down on them all. It seemed angry... Perhaps it was displeased that we had taken down his minions, or perhaps it was angry that the players had free the characters from its grasp. No matter, it changed nothing.

We have to end this soon...

Raid looked at his remaining health and energy, This was getting bad. He could only imagine many of the other players also in a similar situation. He looked around as he made his way out hoping to see some of his friends but in the moment there was too much going on to make any of them out.

    I hope they are alright...

Raid looked back to the Giant eye once more and began to cast his pathetic spells again. The glowing runes quickly spun around him, the aura encompassed his body in an attempt to reduce incoming damage and finally a bolt of Dark energy shot toward the eye dealing...damage. Not nearly enough though...

Suddenly a cold touch from behind, all the hair on his body stood on end as he turned to face this unknown assailant. Nothing. Raid waited a moment... The touch left something with him... He wasn't sure what, it felt... sad somehow. Yet it had helped him, in just a tiny way he felt just a bit better (Ty @Feryn Crozier!).

Turning back to face the Eye again with slightly renewed vitality, Raid prepared his next spell that would be Pyomancy. He shook his head thinking to himself,

If I don't start using more Fire Magic people are just going to think I am just a Dark Mage...

Into the breach, no time to spare. Velka luckily managed to land on a non acidic part of the map. Although her heavy armor and weaponry did nothing to soften the fall and she felt slightly tainted by landing in the flesh, she stood up, ready to strike back. Taking a look around, Velka was surprised to be even more fortunate to be near a massive eye. No point in looking a gift horse in the mouth. Dashing over, she let loose a double strike on the massive eye. Regrettably, it seemed like the thing had toughened up over the course of the fight and her strike wasn't nearly as effective as before. Still a solid hit however, and she wasn't going to complain.

After her attack, she drew back and tried to get a better grasp on the situation. It wasn't looking good with how disorganized and chaotic they were. But it seemed that they were mostly fine, save for a few unfortunate souls who fell into the acid. Regardless, she prepared herself to fight for as long as it would take to prevail. They were in the final stretch now, no one left to distract them and their target weakened. Victory was in their grasp.

The fighting was too much. His power too frail. The heaving of the creature they stood inside and the tide of battle ever swaying back and forth drove him further from the steaming pools of acid and the great eye. It's gaze was-

He clutched tightly to the simple kite shield he had started with, pulled from his back and held tight against his chest, as he retreated farther from the masses. He did not spare another look at the man he had bade one of the countless trapped souls here to aid the weeping wounds of. It was not enough and he did not want to see the man slaughtered moments later. He did not want to see much of anything at the moment. Certainly not the writhing form of a woman left forgotten. She had been cutting down players moments before the collapse and now she was left underfoot. Abandoned. Fighting against the corruption of the creature? Yes. Likely.

Feryn could not help the others who charged onwards into combat. He could not keep pace with the pain they were dealt for their bravery or stupidity. He could, however, gently settle on his knees and sit on his feet and whisper gently to the other aching souls.

They had lost their fight to Titanius. She had not. Not yet. Maybe it would help? He could try. He would try. Feryn dared not touch her as she writhed and fought against an enemy, one he could see all around them, an aspect of it that one could never hope or wish to witness with mortal eyes. Instead, he pulled the air, heavy with final breaths, closer and pressed them toward the fallen queen. Some resisted. Some wailed. Some reached out and pulled away the black ichor in her soul. Pulled it back toward themselves and their graveyard in the ethereal spaces of Titanius.
