Seconds after Madison snatched her tarot cards out of the air, Titanius struck back. The massive writhing tentacle swept across the area, smacking the witch right across the face, busting open her lip and loosening a few teeth.

Madison spat blood onto the ground as she stifled a horrible scream. She had nearly dropped her cards from the force of the impact--thank the gods she hadn't, since the slime coating the inside of the eldritch horror would've made the deck incredibly difficult to shuffle up for the next spell.

Before the plagueslinger could react, another member of their slowly-dwindling murderparty struck the final blow against the dark tentacle. Maddy shot @Shangri La a weak thumbs up, and then allowed herself to relax.

Still holding on tight to the vines that kept her rooted so she didn't tumble into the pool of stomach acid below, Madison fell to her knees. Good lord, she thought weakly, I'm so incredibly tired. I haven't stopped to take a breather since we got here.

A quick flick of her palm menu showed that she was at less than a third of her health, and her energy reserves were almost depleted. As she found a moment of peace and quiet staring at the neon blues and oranges of the HUD, she steadied her breathing.

The chaos continued to erupt around her. The clashing of weapons against Titanius's defenses, the shouting of orders from those who would consider themselves leaders, the incantations of mages and the explosions of magic.

Madison exhaled. Her energy meter went up a pixel.

Time for a bit of rest.

As her most recent attack fizzled away, Luna stumbled backwards, a hand braced on the back of Natiri to support herself. If she fell down now, chances were that she wouldn't get back up before something could kill her. She had to try to pace herself some more, to rest at least for a brief moment.

She slumped slightly, sucking in deep breaths and exhaling harshly, a hand placed on her chest to feel the aggressive thumping of her pounding heart. It almost hurt, how desperately her lungs needed the air and her body needed the small respite. Were there others in a similarly dire situation to herself? Could she even keep up with this pace anymore?

She sucked in another breath, looking around. @Lucia Mierz and @Portia Ahrens were here somewhere. She had to keep looking for them, or link up with somebody. Because going it alone wasn't working out anymore, even if she was already in a two man team.

The going was still rough, but it was going. Climbing further up out of the acid, Nikephoros found dry ground and settled his boots against the slanted... well, stomach lining of an ancient evil? He turned to regard the enormous eye, though it appeared to have its sights set only upon their destruction. Charging at the massive ocular menace once more, he slashed at it with his ranseur, doing his utmost to penetrate the membrane and lance this universe's greatest sore.

Note to self... call Margarita and schedule a skin care day at the spa after logging out. All of this imagery and nastiness was going to give him hives in the real world if it kept up.

As he was urgently needed at the core reserves, Bradwynne was only able to return to the fight against the body after he had finally sorted out everything. Unfortunately for him, he came at a very inopportune time: he was falling.

"AAAHHH!!!" he screamed with surprise as he was falling towards somewhere deeper within Titanius' body. He was hoping it was not its stomach, since he had seen enough anime or cartoons to know that it should be extremely dangerous. But as it was the most probable event, he could only hope that he would not fall into acid. But Lady Luck had bitter hopes for him as he saw where he would land towards: a pool of acid just near an awfully horrific eye. Firmly struggling to land on his feet, in which he did, he made a wild dash towards safety away from the acid.

Bradwynne panted as he finally made his way to a much drier place away from the lower recesses of the massive stomach of Titanius. He sighed in dismay as he saw the soles of his boots melt away, almost revealing his feet, which also suffered burn wounds from the acid following the meltdown. But at least he was in a better condition than the other players he was seeing around him. He had seen someone getting killed within this area, and now he saw another corpse lying around the area, a broken contraption near him (@Tetsunosuke). As his revivification spell was on a very long cooldown, the only thing he could do right now was to prevent more deaths like what happened to this person right here. Seeing a person gravely wounded from the encounters within the body, he generated a ball of light and let it float towards him. That should help him regenerate his body from those wounds.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Grossgrossgrossgrossgrossgrossgross! I TAKE NATURE HAZARDS OVER THIS ANY DAY... Oh god... WHERE IS THIS TENTACLE TOUCHING ME?!" This was the worst. The A B S O L U T E L Y worst.

Yes, she was disappointed that Golden Boy and Princess Black were the supposed-to-be World Boss things.
Yes, she was glad that it turned out they were just some poor henchmen instead - way to put yourself in the spotlight.
Yes, she was glad they were fighting something WAY BIGGER.
    BUT...

This? Really? An epic giant dragon. A gigantic stone giant. A cabinet full of killer clowns wanting to end the world. A piece of rock as big as the moon crashing down onto the planet. Everything would have been fine.

But this... was simply gross. Gross, Disgusting, Distasteful, Horrific. She signed up for a Fantasy Game, not a horror. Not to mention even she knew where the whole Tentacle business would clearly go.

"Urgh..." Charlotte bathed in some acid. The slow sensation of the burn dissolving her perfect skin that @Alphabet Chocolate and @Vina Skysong had helped so much to preserve.

"Urgh..." This was a trap. Literally. Nobody told her about the purple and everything. At least the smell was bearable. The coffee at work smelled worse, after all.

"Urgh... ENOUGH OF THIS." Screw everything. Walking straight to the big, big ball of black the white-hair lifted her axe.

"It's you, isn't it? I'm beyond words. Just stop infesting the same air I am breathing and stop existing, pretty please?!" She cleaved down with Pink Lady. "Fucking." Another chop, her hair was a mess. "Die." Her eyes revealing some sort of madness. "You disgusting piece of...." The meows went unnoticed. "...SHIT!"

Ceres fell into a pool of acid still clutching the bucket she used to throw water over Astor. Instantly scrambling to her feet, she managed to make her way all to Zone B without melting. Still her skin burning away, she saw that the bucket she was still holding was miraculously filled with water, she dumped the bucket of water over her head to clean off the acid. Looking around, she saw that a fairly wounded looking Yladian attacking the massive eye in the center. She had to do something to help out, reaching into her bags for her alchemy kit, she managed to create a simple ointment that would help repair the skin from acid burns. Dashing over, she tapped the man on the shoulder before handing the man the bandage with ointment spread on and briefly explaining what it was. She was pretty sure that she wouldn't have to explain how to use it, the man seemed sharp.

Breathing hard, it was done. The Queen had been brought down. The constant barrages of magic, as well as the cost of keeping her clones moving had been extremely taxing. She breathed hard while fighting to lose consciousness.

"Hehehe, I'm about tapped out. Hehehehe, Majolicas, retreat! I'll call you again if I need you!"

    "Roger that, Domina! Hehe!"

"Just make sure that when you do, hehe, there's someone else's butt to kick!"

The Majolica clones giggled in unison then poofed out of existence. Majolica wiped her brow.

"Hehehe, there now time for a relaxing..."

As she spoke, her words were cut off as the floor began to break away.

"Hehehehe, the dummy just won't give up. Hehe, no rest for a weary Majolica I guess! Hehehe!"

Weary but in a good mood, Majolica rushed towards the growing hole in the ground. Reaching the edged she leaped down into it.

    "Hehehe! Broomstick!"

As she fell, her broomstick met her in mid-air sweeping her up.

"Hehehe, that area in the back looks safe! Hehe, I'll recover some energy in the back, then jump up to finish this stupid, annoying, blob monster off after I've had a break and a snack! Hehehe."

Majolica steered the broomstick towards the safest looking area. Reaching ground level, she hopped off. From the sky, she had gotten a good general view of what everyone was doing.

    "Hehehe, okay. Snacks!"

Reaching into her bag, Majolica pulled out a handful of mushrooms and shoved them into her mouth.

    "Hehehe, much better."

As she continued to gobble her mushrooms while watching the fight from a distance.

"Hehehe, I wonder what happens if I use my magic to drain myself? Hehehe, would it just give me back the same amount of health like a loop? Hehehe... let's try it!"

Standing up, Majolica pointed her magic at herself, then, like she had done with the dissonance monster before, began drawing out her own energy. As she had hypothesized, draining yourself created a loop, but something odd happened to her energy when she did.

"Hehehe, what?! Hehehehe it increased! Hehehehe!"

For an unknown reason, when The Grand Witch drained herself, her general health remained the same, but she actually gained energy.

"Hehehe, I don't know why this is working, but it's working! Hehehehe, this will make things go much faster! Hehe, I'll be back in the fight before everyone knows it! Hehehe!"

    "Whoop---------"

Free-fall. The ground disappeared from beneath Yule's feet. Like Wile E. Coyote, for a moment she seemed to hover in midair before, whoosh, looking down, she dropped.

It was a long fall and Yule fully prepared for the worst as she tried to calculate her trajectory...

While she did so, she took a little breather to recover her energy, it was after all a supremely long drop. What else was there to do but sweat the details?

Speaking of the details Yule was now sure of her future destination.

    "Oh. F~"

Zone F. Full of poison nasty acid.

Yule formed an ice shell around herself like a hamster ball as she made a splash. That avoided the acid, but in return, Yule ping-ponged around the hard shell of the instrument of her own devilment and was left significantly rattled. Her face looked like this:

    @_@

Wheeling herself with that may have been a concussion, she zigg-zagged and waddle-rolled out of the acid pool toward 'dry' land.

Celes was not at all happy for the walls to be returning to the fleshy pink aesthetic. Dark obsidian was nice... why couldn't it have just stayed that way? It was almost a little pretty even. But before she could even get a grasp on what was happening, she found herself dumped in...

    BATHWATER!

Yes, that's what this was. Just really sting-y bathwater, and not something straight out of her worst nightmare. Needless to say though, Celestine was already perfectly clean and needed no extended bath, so while others were pulled in by... uhh... 'cats,' she quickly made an exit. With a bit of Aeromancy, a short moment was all that was needed to at least kinda blowdry herself. It'd have to do for now. She'd give herself a thorough scrubbing later.

"I am having enough of the disgusting squishies!" Cel glared at the giant eye. "I am ready for you to be doing the death now!"

Whipping up an electro-ball, Cel haphazardly chucked it at the horrific eyeball with a vengeance.

As Bradwynne finished healing the person before him, he then searched for another person to heal. It should be hard not knowing who was in dire need of a heal without asking, and so he would try to devise a way to know. He then cast a spell towards his surroundings to know who had the lowest constitution among the people around him. After muttering Hebrew phrases yet again, he then invoked the help of the angel who can do that. "Zaphkiel!" As he shouted that name, he then saw all of the people around him as if they were surrounded with an aura that could tell how wounded they were, indicated by colors ranging from green to red. He then generated a spell so that he could heal that person who he would see that would need it the most. As he was chanting the spell, he scanned towards the vitality signatures of the people around him, and then he saw a person, a tall and bald one (@Nikephoros) with a reddish yellow signature. He was about to toss the healing light he was generating towards him, but as he saw that he was being healed by a person that he met before at the emergency tents (@Alkaid Zexis) he then looked for other people who needed healing. His eyes settled on a girl with frilly clothes who was actively fighting the eye before her, with a yellow aura with a tinge of red on it. The healing ball of light having been finished, he let it float towards her.

Despite the damage done to the tentacle it wasn't quite dead yet, and Vina's eyes widened as she saw it lashing out towards her and the other nature magic user. Trying to dodge while simultaneously having the vines pull it in the opposite direction failed to actually stop the dark tendril, the white Felis yelping in pain as it struck her, feeling the bones in her arm crack. While it wasn't a serious wound it still hurt, and Vina was very glad to see that someone else finished the tentacle off while she checked her arm to see if it was broken. Thankfully it was still functional.

Looking around she noticed that a lot of her allies had been pulled into the acid by... cat-faced tentacles? The druidess stared with some confusion as she tried to comprehend this. Like... how? Was this Titanius trying to mess with their head? Considering how it was a power which induced nightmares it wasn't too far-fetched that the cat-faced tentacles were normal tentacles which were meant to creep them out, which admittedly was working pretty damn well.

While she wanted to go and help people out of the acid she also wanted to make sure Astor and D'Vangelline were all right, although when she looked over to the two heroes she noted that others had already finished treating them while she was distracted by the tentacle. Looking over at the people in the acid Vina looked uncertain.

Fjær, can you go and help them?

The white hawk, who had avoided being pulled down into the stomach but had followed his master anyway, nodded before flying towards the acid pool. Looking around the hawk would swoop down to whoever was having trouble getting out of the acid, not strong enough to lift an entire humanoid by himself but certainly strong enough to help them get back upright.

Vina meanwhile dispelled some of the miasma surrounding herself, casting worried glances towards the giant toothy eye. They weren't done yet.

As she healed Astor, Ilusa felt affronted upon seeing from afar the form the cephalopod limbs took. As she watched his wounds mend and heal she checked the area around her. The people she could see were.. Relatively okay. Their health was high enough and even the queen has gained health and did not look to be in as poor condition as she did before.

Actually, she saw a healer that she had seen before, but they had not talked ever before. It showed her again just how much changed in the game during her absence.

The feis kept checking Astor, feeling somewhat relieved when the visible wounds were healing. The mental scars would surely stay. Again they made her wonder just what was going on with this game. The technology needed to actually rewrite a personality of existing person, a Player had truly worrying connotations. She knew people who would sell their family and give their arms to get it. People who would do anything to get it. That it existed...

Ilusa frowned at the dark turn her thoughts took.

Black liquid dripped down her HUD, smearing over it, over her face and eyes. “Ugh-!” She quickly wiped it off- or rather tried to. It was not there. And the blood she was seeing on her hands and the odd whispers she heard were a mere effect of the game.

A shiver ran down her spine at this. Because of the high dissonance, she focused on her magic. A simple gathering of the energy for the reassuring presence of the light, to combat the demons waking in her mind.

Again she looked around for the area, before her gaze stopped on the Health gauge of the Boss. It… Was actually not going down so fast. Glancing around she looked for a familiar face, a veteran Player whose damage she could supplement.

Then she found one. A certain noble who was, or at least played, a rather odd character. Her name was also odd, but then again, it was merely a handle. Nodding to herself she focused on the other Player.

“Bumba. Etwüre Borrë.” The light shot of and infused the chosen veteran with power, increasing the damage output she would deal for some time.

That done, she checked Astor again, truly their meeting after a long while could have been better.

After the raid party defeated the two humanoid bosses, and yadda yadda some lore stuff, Titanius was back. But, that meant that the obsidian environment they'd all gotten used to crumpled beneath their feet and they were further inside Titanius. Rivers had the misfortune to come down on the acidy part of the new area. As his feet hit the surface of the acid, he felt a familiar burning in his feet. God this hurt! But, it wasn't quite as bad as the gnawing voices in his head. At least his sores hadn't broken out in tentacles...he really hoped that wasn't the next step.

Gritting his teeth, Rivers moved to climb out of the acid. The whole area was on a slope with the acid pooling at the bottom. So to get out...he had to climb. He got out of the acid and got some footing on something solid. Wel...more solid. It was...fleshy. Rivers shuddered to think he'd actually missed standing in Titanius. He turned his attention to the bulbous eye adjacent to him.

Rivers aimed a light punch at the eyeball. It landed but there was no impact behind it. He really needed a weapon. With a spear he could stab this thing in the eyeball. Which would be fantastic. After his meager attack, Rivers looked around but he didn't see anyone he knew. Actually, he didn't see anyone right around him. He needed to move to higher ground maybe.

Lycia glanced from Milah to the new face that was checking in on them. A small smile whispered across the young face of the Felis before she gave an enthusiastic nod toward @Libitina Cerin . Outside of her sister, she didn’t know anyone else that played the game…well, besides Coraline, but that was it. She hadn’t met anyone else in the game so far. So to interact with another player character made the young girl very excited.

Yeah, I’m great! she told the girl before looking her over. There were a few scratches here and there and a few more wounds that her eyes could easily make out. A frown pulled at her mouth, drawing worry lines across her brow. One hand lifted from her sister’s shoulder, the index and thumb meeting while a quiet ‘ping!’ sounded from the young bard. A gentle smile again graced Lycia’s features.

Teal magic bloomed from her fingers and wrapped around Libitina, soothing the worst of her wounds and restoring some vitality to their new-found friend.

There. That should make you feel a bit better! Lycia said before extending that same hand, intending to shake the other girl’s. I’m Lycia and this is Milah. It’s very nice to meet you! I’ll try to keep you from dying, okay? But I’m new to the game so I’m sorry for any screwing up I may do.

The Felis paused, blinked, and then blushed. I’ll also try to yell out if I’m healing you so I don’t startle you or anything, okay?

As if to make good on her promise, she turned to the new figure pulling themselves out of the acid and charging at the big scary huge eye…thing in the middle of the room. Hey, he looked familiar! What was his name? Oh, he was there helping clear out the garden when that manor was infested…

Oh! Nike! @Nikephoros ! Hi, hi! I remember you! Hey, I’m going to heal you okay? So, like, just breathe in deep and exhale to the rhythm! Two chimes echoed from her Zils, the magic again erupting from the tiny cymbals while she gave a tiny twist of her hips.

It was finally time to rest for a little while after both the altered rulers had been successfully defeated... Except that the huge monster they were inside of didn't think the same as the rest of the adventurers, changing the obsidian battlefield to a blurry mess of dark colors. She quickly clicked her tongue before ordering her inner instincts to complain about the constant changes in the environment to shut the hell up.

And just when she thought she'd fall face first into the pit of acid waiting for her at the bottom, a companion put their magical abilities with air to use, after which it became easier for her to pick up the face and leap from high ground until she finally found safety on the same ground as her savior.

''Thank you... That would've been... Well, that would've been quite painful to live through.'' Had it not been for the fellow player who saw it fit to save her life, she probably wouldn't have managed to move quite as efficiently during the rest of the fight. Luckily, her gratitude would not go unheard.

''Got room for one more?'' Portia greeted one of the other occupants (@Raid) of the area with a slight wave of her hand before almost stumbling to her knees. She held a finger up and allowed the disheveled strands of white hair to hide her face away from the male's vision as she tried to get herself back in shape. No sooner had she finished doing so, she glanced up from beneath her lashes, offering a simple apologetic smile to the stranger for her improper appearance.

The woman pressed both her empty palms against her knees, struggling to keep herself up even when it really meant nothing other than she was reaching her limit.

Her strength, just as her magic had done on many occasions, was faltering. This time, however, there was no apparent lack of talent to blame it for, but the absence of energy she was starting to feel after all the fighting the raiding team had engaged on. Portia, following an example she had been taught in real life by the very same person who taught her how to defend herself, tried to steady her breathing. Inhale... Exhale, in and out at a slow pace... There would be time to attack her foes, yes, but for now, she would rest.
