With the last shot moving so poorly, Gwyn took a moment to shift her weight as she was fully within the new zone and consider her target. It wasn't particularly hardy or dextrous so that did make it a perfectly good target for target practice. Perhaps a fight against a world-devouring abomination wasn't the best place to be playing with the skills she had only recently unlocked and begun to train extensively. The Scatter Shot was easy and a close friend of sorts, but the more complex talents of Imagined Marksmanship were strangers to her.

    Willful Shot

Again the arrow flew from the string willingly, happily, lethally- and nearly took off the ear of another player were it not for a quick redirection of the bolt via the skill's nature. And then it nicked someone else's armor. Took off a lock of some weird and rather mouthy green-haired man's ridiculously spiked hair. Finally, it angled back up out of the crowd on its roundabout trip and sunk wetly with a splat into the massive eyeball.

"Okay. Deeefinitely need to work on that one. At least it didn't actually hit anyone," she whispered lowly to herself under the cacophony of the war being waged.

Aristides' sensitive ears picked up on something screaming from the acid beyond his sight with a voice he recognized. As he ripped his hands free from Titanius' eye--hands sticky and coated in the black tar that dripped from its maw--he turned his head sharply to see a head of bright blue hair on a tiny body run past him. @Hanno Futaba? What was he...Rivers was here, too, and already in danger, now another friend of his was. While Aristides had no real fear for Rivers being hurt, he clearly recalled Futaba in the woods, being knocked out to the point of needing to be carried back to town. Why had he joined such a dangerous fight? He was putting himself in danger. Then again, so were they all, for no real reason other than "because we can".

So he couldn't blame him. Instead, he would help him, and hope that his friend had some heals.

    "FUTABA!"

Aristides cut through the crowds and fleshy bits to where Futaba stood, staring at the enormous eye. When he reached him Aristides nearly picked him up and spun him, but remembering his body was covered in pustles, boils, and writhing tentacles...maybe not a good idea. He was panting as he knelt next to Futaba, a weak, glassy smile tugging at his lips.

"It's nice to see you, and absolutely awful that you're in here. I don't supposed...you can do anything about these? It feels all sorts of wrong."

Hanno's frowned at the giant eye that seemed like a Core... Several players were attacking it, maybe that meant it was the thing that was causing this whole problem? He just prepared to attack, before one of the tentacles passed close to him, making he frown and turn his head toward the tentacle. "This is a cat's face?!" If the Faerin was confused before, now he was completely lost, what the hell was that?

His ears twitched, it was @Aristides voice calling him. He had saw him before, but he was too busy getting out of the acid pool to call him. "Aristides!" He called back with a smile, that slowly turned into a worrysome gaze. His friend's condition was horrible! Was that work from that Monster?

"Ugh! That does look very wrong." Hanno frowned at the sight, it was utterly disgusting. "I will try to get this out of you!" He stretched his hand toward his friend, with a soft wind going out of his hands.

    Dispel.

The soft wind calmly passed through the Caenis body, making the parasitic tentacles drop out of his body. Making the Faerin sigh in relief, but turn angrily at the giant eye. "How dare this thing do this to you?!" He said with clenched teeth, even if it was just a game, he hated the idea of having his friend getting wounded in a such inhumane way.

More players began to show up around Raid to attack Titanius' eye. One of these people appeared to be the Pyromancer he saw Titanius crush moments before the Two bosses they had just defeated.

    Perhaps he was revived...

A Felis appeared that seemed to be looking for someone. Raid hardly knew anyone in the game at this point however and had no way of knowing who it was they sought. Some tentacle smashed into something nearby, Raid risked a look and saw surprisingly nothing there beneath it. He then also felt the unmistakable feeling of being healed. He missed who had placed this heal upon so he simply spoke aloud.

    I appreciate the heal.

Raid conjured a ball of Fire and watched as the flames waxed and waned seemingly unwilling to listen to him completely. He was reaching his limits. He willed the fire to hold form and for just a moment it held still. Not waiting for him to lose control of the flames again he quickly slung it toward the Titan's Eye. The fire expanded before reaching the target and when it cleared away it seemed he had done little to the giant's gaze.

    Damn...

Raid looked down at his hands disappointingly, surely he could do better than this. He began to consider what to do next when a voice spoke to him,

    ''Got room for one more?''

Raid looked over to see a short woman (@Portia Ahrens) almost stumble to the ground, he reached out to try and help her but she caught herself and held up a finger. He looked toward her with a bit of concern. He couldn't quite make out her face as it was covered by her hair, but it was clear she was exhausted.

Of course... Hey, don't over do it, we are all hitting our limits. Just try to hold on a bit longer... I think this should end soon.

She looked up with an apologetic smile and Raid after seeing their face, returned her a kind wide smile in spite of himself.

Dammit Raid, no smiles. We are a serious Mage here to help kill Titanius and be a mysterious bad ass. Ah shut up, making sure this person is okay hurts us none.

Raid turned back to the eye once more when he was sure the woman wasn't going to collapse before him. He wasn't sure what to do next. Perhaps he should wait a while and regain some energy... He would see how things played out in the next few moments and then decide.

Rivers was resting from his most recent attack when he heard familiar voices. He turned to see some of his friends, @Hanno Futaba, and @Aristides. Of course, he'd seen Aristides earlier, but didn't know Futaba had come to this event. Slowly, he walked over to the pair of them. He wondered if they were experiencing similar effects from the dissonance, as he could barely move his right arm at this point. Was it slowly getting worse? Would this damage be permanent and remain after the boss was defeated? The key word being when, they were definitely going to defeat this monster.

"Futaba! Aristides! Are you both alright?" Rivers came in towards them before crouching to his knee. "How're you two holding up? Do you need anything?" he asked, knowing damn well he could barely keep himself up. But if they needed anything, he'd bend over backward for them. Rivers turned his attention to the eye in front of the zone he was standing in.

"I think we're near the end. Titanius can't have much left." He forced a smile. "Just a little while longer. I know we can make it." He clasped his hands on each of his friends' shoulders, and flashed him the best grin he could muster. He wanted them to feel confident, even if he felt like curling up in a ball and sleeping for a year.

"Let's go, and meet up after all this craziness is over." Rivers felt refreshed after his time spent talking to his friends amongst this madness. Anything to quiet the voice that burrowed in his ears.

Kessler found himself following behind the others a little late, splashing into the pool of acid, he cried out in shock and horror from the feeling. The burns felt so real, the trauma of the battle was so realistic it made his heart pound. His mind was awash with a symphony of different erratic sounds, the pandemonium he felt internally and the sense of crisis caused by the pain made it hard to be rational. It was only when he lowered his head to his shield, smashing his forehead to it while panting to catch his breath, the hood wrapping his face kept him protected from the smog at least, but he was still having trouble settling down.

'This was the game my little girls play?' He couldn't help asking himself as he looked around, wounded, injured players bleeding out, suffering in silence or crying out for agony or vengeance of some kind. There were signs of the best in humanity, supporting others, providing cover, taking up arms to fight together. There were also signs of the worst, human shields, martyrs appearing left and right, sacrifice all over. It was unsettling thinking that his daughters were also suffering through this. 'If that wife-- Ex-wife of mine knew, would she still have left?' He found himself asking as it stroked his anger and frustration. They tried to escape to this place where there was pain and destruction all around?!

His emotions could wait though, pushing himself from the acid was his first priority, forcing his way from the murky green waters, he wiped what he could from his body before turning his attention to his foe. It was a creature he wouldn't even be able to see in fantasy, but he still furrowed his brow deeply, his spear being flourished with heroic swing. He was an actor after all, perhaps one of the better ones on a small time domestic stage, with the poise and atmosphere of a great figure he shouted loudly. "You-- Monster-- Fiend! You've made a mistake causing trouble for my girls!" He shouted advancing with heavy steps. His armor was heavy, he needed to consider some changes to support himself later. Thrusting his spear forward, he tried to carve into the creature hoping to slice out a good enough portion to do something.

As Portia eased into a more comfortable position that suited introductions and normal chatter the best, she decided to brush her hair out of her field of vision. The brawler swallowed and gave an earnest nod to @Raid, letting him know her temporary exhaustion was nothing to worry about and that she would do her best to finish this 'Round Two' against the mysterious monster.

''I know it was me who was about to hit the ground, but you seem like the one who's spacing out...'' Her voice died out by the end of her sentence in a clear display of curiosity, signaled by the slight tilting of her head to the left as she eyed the man from his feet and all the way up to his head. The lack of proper equipment gave away all the possible clues she needed to look for in order to assess his current situation as a player. ''Are you new?''

Contrary to whatever expectations most people had about her, the small woman felt her lips slowly curving upwards, followed almost immediately by the sudden widening of her eyes. What a wonderful time to join Terrasphere. ''Oh, well, in that case... Welcome? You picked a tremendously good time to join us?'' She motioned to the Gaze with a gesture of her hand, pointing out what was it exactly that she found funny about his situation. With the corners of her mouth tight in a shameful attempt to stop the burst of laughter from coming out, she placed her hands on each side of her waist before she moved in closer to him.

Upon reaching the male's side, she would reach out a hand and strike his back twice with an open palm, stepping right back to her original position right after she'd done so. But instead of continuing their conversation, she broke eye contact with him, turning the entirety of her attention to the beast that had greatly transformed since their last stand against it: Titanius' Gaze.

''But you won't do much by just admiring things from afar,'' she stated with quite the upbeat tone to match her intent, balling both of her fists in front of her face as she relaxed back into her usual combat stance. However, she didn't quite move. It was more of an invitation for him to join her in the assault rather than preparing a solo effort.

Finding it difficult to cause damage to the creature with his feeble swings alone, Kessler couldn't help a twitch at the corner of his mouth. He couldn't do much on his own it seemed, he needed to put more effort in. Thinking back to the encouragement he received, from his friends, from his kids, even from his ex-wife even if she disappeared on him. He only knew that he had to do a bit better to contribute to the team effort. "One person a play does not make; A symphony needs harmony." He spoke with a firm expression before tightening his grip on his spear. The blade slowly starting to turn, ripping flesh off of the creature as it began drilling deeper into the monster's body. Sparks from his equipment roaring to life, his spear sank deeper, even as fluid and bits splashed against his face making him wince. It was disgusting, he disapproved and hated the mess it caused, but in the end he finally swallowed his resignations and continued pressing forward trying to spear the creature with his spear.

Rudiford was glad someone checked up on him, considering that he was caught by a tentacat that had wrapped tightly around his leg, refusing to let go.He had tried everything to remove it, including punching it on the head and tickling it, but all of his attempts were in vain. That was until @Yukisa showed up.

"Hey man, this weird feline tentacle is holding me from getting the hell out of here, do you mind helping me remove it? Maybe some catnips might work," Rudiford complained to a stranger he had never met before.

However, little did he know that the tentacle liked Yukisa more and immediately loosened its grip on his leg and lunged toward the youth, its mouth agape, its fang ready to strike. Fortunately, Rudiford swung his poleaxe and repelled its jump in the nick of time.

"Run, RUN!" he shouted at the youth before taking off, climbing up to high grounds where he would be free from the acid that has been increasingly rising.

The buzzing had subsided, mostly. Ash’s outfit was scorched and acid-eaten, and he was pretty burnt himself, but… he was still alive. He wasn’t being digested anymore either, which was always a plus. Not to mention the… cat-faced... tentacle had dropped him right next to the leering, toothy gaze of Titanius’ giant eyeball.

I was wondering when the eye mouth thing was going to happen, he thought, taking stock of his equipment. Acid had eaten at his sword to the point that it seemed a few strikes away from crumbling, but the metal of the blade practically gleamed in the dim light. It’d last the rest of this fight, hopefully. Once again, he charged, running roughly parallel with the eye’s surface as he ran his blade across it. It was a shallow cut, but it oozed all the same.

The enemy was falling upon her in droves! Creatures---abominations of nature---that carried horns, rabbit paws, and antelope thighs! Oh, the thighs! What a gruesome sight! The grisly monsters, however, would never get the better of her! She was a warrior, a Valkyrie, a Centurion!

"O', you fowl fiends will never best me in battle!" she stared at the most peculiar flock of dove-pigeon-dodo amalgamation. "But we will pause this fight for another day!" she declared, eyes rolling to the back of her head as she toppled over backwards. And once again, she was met with the most splendid of dreams as Hector and Potato prodded her with the ends of their little limbs.

The final stage was set and the players were taking their positions… Or rather being flung into them as they fell into the creature's stomach. Alric was fortunate enough to land on the high end and away from the acid pooling at the other end of the battlefield. After making sure all his bones were still intact he quickly jumped back to his feet and made a run for the eye in the center of the room they had been attacking earlier.

With knife in hand he slashed the organ. The fight was obviously starting to take its toll on him. He wouldn't stop fighting until either him or the monster stopped drawing breath though.

    “Huh? Feline tentacle?”

Clearly, in his exhausted state, Yukisa could not understand what on earth @Rudiford Gwyndel meant by that, the bizarre concept causing him to do a double take. All he did was look at the man, tilting his head in confusion as he attempted to interpret those mysterious words. Was that some kind of code he had missed the briefing on? But then, what was that about catnip? Did Titanius own a pet cat??

By the time Yuki finally had the sense to actually look down and check this “tentacat” that Rudiford claimed was gripping at his leg, it had luckily let go… and unluckily spotted a new target, that target being Yuki.

“... O-Oh, that,” he muttered as he stared at the cat-faced tentacle, which had coiled backwards like a cat prepared to pounce. It let out a lengthy meow, similar to the cry of a cat who had spotted an enemy on their territory, before lunging straight for the male.

“Run, RUN!” was definitely much easier to catch the first time than Rudi’s other words.

Without a second thought, Yukisa followed the orange-haired male’s lead, his feet splashing in the acid pools as he made for high ground. Never had he been more glad that he had chosen Acrobat for one of his masteries, as it was undoubtedly the reason he hadn’t been caught and dragged back into the depths of the acid pool.

When at last they had outrun the strange feline appendage, Yukisa bent over, panting heavily in an attempt to recover his energy.

“S-Sorry about that…” he said to Rudi apologetically, knowing that it must’ve been unpleasant to have that thing grabbing at his leg while the only person around to help just looks on in confusion. “It was just… a little unexpected. I owe you one.”

    Cycle 7

The black Gargantuan Gaze on the center of the battlefield contracted violently before it sunk into the fleshy ground, leaving behind a massive gape that spewed the toxic liquid into the air and caused a massive acid rainstorm. Because of the strange air pressure that resulted from the powerful magic casted by Titanius, winds raged within the enclosed chamber, creating massive waves that crashed violently against the inclined battlefield. Acidic levels rose as the poisonous liquid storm raged on, gradually covering more zones in a short span of time. Zone B, X, and K were eventually taken while everything else to the west was completely submerged in toxicity, only a few zones in the high elevation could be considered safe.

Within that time, the Gargantuan Gaze burst out of zone L, pushing a few of its enemies out of the way, or completely consuming them. The rows of teeth that lined the eyeball’s interior proved rather effective for breaking down food. @Lucia Mierz and @Shangri La were caught up in the grinder, taking severe damage but was able to escape just before it finished devouring them whole. At the same time, the tentacats continued to pull people under, hissing and biting anyone that tried to fight them like the deformed-felines they were.

In zone D, the Valkyrian knight finally stopped convulsing. Thanks to the efforts of several healers, the queen of Falderen, their dispel purged some amount of the dissonance from her body. Although they didn’t manage to get rid of all of the dissonance, it was enough for her to become functional once more. Letting out a loud huff, D’vangelline pushed all of her insecurities into the deepest recess of her soul as she caught up on the situation around the battlefield. Seeing how the battlefield had turned into a giant deathtrap, the tattered and bloody queen picked up her lance and shield and whispered a prayer before divine light coalesced around her lance.

You have toyed with our hearts for far too long, detestable monster...

D'vangelline slammed her heavenly lance into the fleshy floor, producing a burst of light that floated up and turned into a golden, protective dome that covered zone D. Dissonance tried encroaching her once more, but she persevered, tasking herself to make up for the pain and horror she had caused while she was under Titanius’ influence. She was the daughter of the great Hero of Light that saved Falderen… And she would ever lose to the temptation of revenge, ever again.

Just then, another incomprehensible sound reverberated throughout the entire chamber. If you had been deeply touched by dissonance (10+), you could feel yourself becoming one with Titanius for a brief moment.

The feeling was unexpectedly serene, as all five of your senses became drowned out by dull apathy that washed over your entire body. Afterwards came anger, maddening anger that could not be subdued. The unrelenting and suffocating range of emotions filled you as the dissonance forces you to fight your personal wars, impactful deaths, and hundreds of life events that you wish you could forget. Titanius dug deep, uncovering every secrets that you have buried within yourself both in and out of the game.

When Titanius consumed your allies, its body became stronger and the effects of dissonance amplified. Depending on your level of dissonance (15+) you could feel your body slowly mutate — it won’t be long before you and everyone else is absorbed.

It was at this point that you realize the immense life force that players possess and Titanius had grown a taste for it. As your mind melded with it, you could see how it laid out its trap, getting Tertoria to reach out to Astorea, knowing that Astorea would eventually send the players to confront the monster right into Titanius’ body, where it was able to season you and the rest of your kind with dissonance and prepare all of you for consumption. It even set up an ambush for Astor and D’vangelline whom you might have put your trust in to mislead and betray you, all for the sake of inflicting deep dissonance on your flesh and soul.

Now that its energy had reached the maximum capacity, Titanius’ true plan sprang up in motion and as began connecting its distorted world with yours and fulfills its one true goal, the convergence and consumption of all worlds.

Just as your consciousness began to slip, Ivan’s voice pierced your ears. YO, snap the fuck out of it, you dinks! We gotta stop Titanius, it’s opening up rifts everywhere! If we don’t stop the rifts soon, you’re going to be fighting and eating squid for the rest of your life. So yeah, we’re going to need some portals to go to the rifts, hold on.

He contacted his leader once more and spoke with a rushed and audibly upset voice this time. Juliette, ma’am? Change of plans, Titanius just opened several rifts all over the world, so we’re going to need our portals to connect to these rifts so we can close them. Can you do that?

Well, the supplies aren’t coming then. Tell them to get to high grounds, the mages will open portals that they can jump through.

Understood. Alright, the Brotherhood will be opening the portals in the high grounds now, get there and go through, each portal can only take a limited number of people so don’t you all go at the same time.

    Titaninus' Body [ 4682 / 16666 HP ]

    • You must be within adjacent zones to attack it.
