Having made her way to D’vangeline, Janet kneeled beside the blonde and watched her incantation both with awe and caution. She’d wanted to tell the queen she was glad that she'd recovered, but she feared to interrupt the woman's concentration. White magic, again. She recognized the energized, invasive tingle in her body as the spell took effect. Well, I don’t have to like it. Just use it.

The brunette got to her feet, determined not to waste the healing blessing (even if it did feel uncomfortable.) There was an evil shadow of joy in the back of her mind that was even more uncomfortable, a sense that Titanius thought it was the end and was ready to digest them at last.

In these times, it’s best to stand by those you know, she thought and recognized @Corvella and @Ash Vargold returning from a portal. “Wait! Be careful, both of you!” she exclaimed, afraid she’d be lost again in the sightless dark, and reached out to catch one or both of their shoulders.

D’vangeline’s divine magic burst from her fingertips in bright, cleansing light and Janet rocked back in shock, feeling some of her own power—her nature magic—sucked along with the current of the healing energy. Out of control, some of the recoil revealed (and then hit) @Portia Ahrens in the darkness. Janet pulled her hands back like she’d been electrocuted, giving a little cry. “Oh!” Goodness, that had been so sudden. Convenient, but... Too much.

But now it was dark—darker than the woods she’d run through while they’d sought the Cawing Owl, darker than the canyon she’d fallen into when they’d sought out Sin. The slithering and then the King's orders made her mouth go dry with fear. With dread. The silence all around them was the hush before a jump-scare in a Rated R movie, and this Rated R was afraid…

It was finally @Grand Witch Majolica, the Ops Commander, whose many duplicates and merry war-song pulled Janet Reilly back from the edge of total panic. “Witch Ops stand together!” she called out, lifting her chin. The urge to take up arms and fight sprang to life again within her, the anger and despair and wretchedness from Titanius swept away by cold determination. Clenching her branch, Janet placed the tip inside her helm and summoned one last plant.

She admired the male for his seemingly natural ability to stay calm after everything they had gone through, a specific thing she couldn't manage when the images still flashed brightly amidst all the darkness.

    And they hurt.

They hurt more than she gave them credit for.

Only ONCE had she asked for a chance to be her own being, and just when she thought she might actually get to enjoy it, a beast saw it fit to strip her of her chance to do so, robbing her of her will once again. But not any longer. Now, it had to pay. No longer would she be tainted by cowardice nor fear, bound to obey someone else's will. At that crystallized moment of battle high and anger, she had no time to think.

She didn't wish to be forgotten by this one person. They might not have a chance to talk afterward if they were successful in their mission. ''My name's Portia, giant.'' And on that moment, and only if he paid close attention to the sorrow-filled features of the female, he might've seen the faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her lips before she turned to face the darkness. Portia followed the light his Pyromancy offered, finding an easy target on the one tentacle that had received most, if not all, of Raid's hits.

''I,'' the woman shouted right as she sucked in a breath, her fists colliding just once against the hard surface before she pulled them both back in different turns to strike again, switching her stance accordingly, ''am my own person!!'' Her eyes lit with the ethereal glow responsible for the change in her eye's hue, her arms caught that special light she was somewhat proud to call her own, following all the kicks and punches she threw towards her target with a wave formed solely by her mana.

''You will never,'' she continued, each word burning her throat far worse than the last one, ''ever again take that away from me!'' Her fist slammed against the tentacle's midsection, the blow followed right after by an explosion that sent her stumbling back, burning at her armor. She fought with no sense of concern for herself, the pain which consumed her knuckles and the energy draining from her magical energy not registering until her anger faded.

Her life was once more her own.

Titanius was growing desperate, she could see it in how the tentacles flailed about. Even in the darkness, she could hear the them desperately striking out at anything that moved. That was good, that meant that they were on even ground. She endured another strike, this time in the head, letting herself take the hit in order to bring forth a more damaging retribution. Her lance sank deep into its flesh and she took a moment to twist the weapon before ripping it out. She couldn't push forwards due to the low visibility. Briefly lowering her weapon, all she could do now was continue fighting and hope that their efforts would be enough. Then, without a moment's hesitation, she threw herself into the fray once more. They would need all the hands they could get if this battle was to be won.

As Titanius enveloped everyone in darkness, Madison couldn't have cared less. As far as she was concerned, nobody else may as well have existed anyway.

She could hear her fellow adventurers and god-slayers shouting about buffs and heals--but she knew that it was now or never.

    Titanius had to be annihilated.

With every breath she drew, with every twitch of a muscle, the darkness began consuming her, tearing flesh from muscle and lapping up the blood it spilled.

The witch was out of fucks to give.

She quickly cut her deck and arranged a planetary spread in the air. The cards ignited in violet flames, the light of which was immediately absorbed by the eldritch god's desperate last stand. The Frostfire Fury of Astor mixed with the toxins that flowed through her, powering up her spell even further.

Madison screamed an unintelligible curse, and the cards exploded with her anger. A monstrous cloud of blight shaped like a ragged claw ripped through the air and shot straight for the gaze of Titanius.

    ''My name's Portia, giant.''

Raid watch as Portia turn and head toward the targets. She had seemed so sad, Titanius must have dug something painful out of her like it did him. Still in that moment he thought he saw her lighten up just a bit, perhaps it was her regaining her composure, or the amusment of calling him a giant, clearly noting their height difference. Whatever it was, Raid hoped she would be okay.

He watched her run in and attack Titanius with anger and ferocity he had not quite expected from her. She yelled at the creature as she struck, seemingly letting out some feelings from the previous attack. Their attacks, a combination of physical and magical, seemed to have some effect on the Titan.

Raid didn't wait for the Titan to react before starting his next spell. He Draw the gray runes around him once more and his protective aura emanated off of him once more. Looking around he found an appropriate target and fired off a bolt of energy damaging the Tentacle a small bit

This I all I can do, hopefully the rest of the players can end this...

Raid looked toward Portia who was finishing off the last curse mark and waited for what was to come...

There were figures here that she didn’t recognize, figures that inspired an aura of awe and compelling as Milah stared into D’vangelline first… and later onto Astor. Still too new a player the girl didn’t knew much about the history of the game world, or much of anything really if she was honest, but even the Felis wasn’t able to deny that they radiated a power higher and stronger than any she’d seen before… aside from the beast they were trying to kill right now, of course.

Suddenly supplies were falling to the ground as well, potions that scattered and lied all around for them to take. Milah’s hands quickly shot out, managing to catch two of them before passing one to @Lycia. There was a gut feeling gnawing at her insides, a premonition that this was probably it, and she wanted her sister to be in the best shape she could along with her.

Woah, these things are good. I feel better already—

The surprise from the potion’s effect was short-lived though as the group was suddenly plunged into darkness. Instinctively her hand reached out, still aware of her sister’s positioning, and Milah’s fingers laced with Lycia’s. The female figure spoke first, her voice clear and somewhat reassuring in a way, and after a few moments and a glow Milah could hear her sister’s surprise at something she was now seeing in her UI screen. The Felis barely registered anything the blonde said after that, the commanding voice of the other figure catching her attention instead. A glow formed inside her quiver snatching Milah’s attention instead as she released Lycia’s hand and drew one of the arrows to inspect.

    It’s glowing… Frostfire Fury?

Silence… silence… silence… and then a scream as another player blindly charged forth—only to be cut short as he disappeared into the darkness, no doubt snatched away by a tentacle. He was then stepping forth, readying some spell or attack that was unfortunately cut short as one of the limbs was severed from Astor in the blink of an eye. Still he did not waver, calling for them to join the fray, and after a moment’s hesitation Milah nodded in response.

Arrow nocked in place the Felis took just a moment to aim, before it fired off into the darkness towards the faint outline of the eye that Milah could see.

She could barely see anything in the darkness, but she didn't let that stop her. Titanius was all around them. Every attack sent a flash of magic in the air, illuminating the world around her for brief moments of time, every burst of light a page in a flipbook. It was enough for her to see by. Enough to see Astor, and D'vangelline, now seemingly cured of whatever had ailed them. That was a relief.

And useful, as she noted that everyone around her seemed to be emitting the same light, akin to an icy flame. Astor's work, no doubt. Well, time to put it to use, Ashiore thought, gathering energy in her hands. The green wisps curled around her forearm and wrists, thorned vines materializing as she spoke the incantation.

The last time she had used this particular attack was back in the Falderen prison against the Warden. Rage and loss blinded her, and her attack went wide, impacting the wall behind the Warden's head.

Luckily for her, Titanius was the wall. There'd be no missing here.

Determined, she sent the lance-like spire of vines directly into the nearest tendril, skewering it. Titanius would fall. She'd make sure of it

The fight hadn't been over. Not yet. The thing, no, TITANIA was still ALIVE SOMEHOW!? With all they had been done? Was it... probably like an octopus? They cut off, no, destroyed, its brain, its head, but the body still kept moving? On its last legs. Pure instinct taking over? To devour and devour, until its degradation would be faster than its regeneration and then, poof?

"Thank you, Mizuki." Seigi nodded to her as she touched her own body a bit. Everything was still where it should be. Right, they somehow fought soul with... soul and her body... and her soul... and... 404... no. Don't question it. She'd only get a headache or something. Instead, concentrate on matters at hand.

"We got still some ass-kicking to do!" Seigi nodded before taking a step forward. Everything was very, very, dark. Was it because they actually had taken care of the Soul or? People seemed very tense as the darkness claimed more lives. For a moment, Seigi wondered, was she still human herself? Nothing had changed but... did she really care about those lives? Yes! Definitely! Surely? But worrying would bring them nowhere.

"LISTEN UP, EVERYBODY!" Seigi spoke up. Making sure to turn on her fledgling Heroic Aura for extra oomph(@Raid Master ?). She could barely see in front of her own feet but she knew everybody was around. "THE CORE IS DEAD! ITS HEAD, CUT OFF. VICTORY DRAWS NEAR! YET, THE BODY IS STILL STRUGGLING. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL IT DIES OFF ITS OWN." Probably. "BUT EVEN SO, IT KEEPS CONSUMING AND DESTROYING. BETWEEN NOW AND ITS ASSURED DEMISE, MORE AND MORE LIFE IS BEING CONSUMED. NAY, IS SAY! SO GIVE IT ALL YOU'VE GOT AND PUNCH IT HARD! REALLY HARD! GUTS AND EFFORT."

That done, it was time to finally do some more ass-kicking. With her void-arm-claws, her heroic-might and the power of frost-fire combined, Seigi winded up a punch. Titania was everywhere, right? So all she had to do was hit it.

"The Fist that will Pierce the Heavens — Hazy Flash of Ice; FLARE HAZE BREAK!" It was an impossibility. Fire and Frost combined, yet, the frosty fire around her arms turned into a raging storm as she, quite literally, drilled it into the void bellow herself. It retaliated. Illusions? Tentacles? Acid? Mental Warfare? But this pain was nothing.

    One more attack.

    Just one more.

That's all she wanted. One more chance to kick the eldritch god right in the nethers.

Titanius's all-consuming darkness was quickly sapping the briar witch's strength, tearing away her body and mind with each passing second. Madison barely found the strength to shuffle her tarot cards up. She fumbled with them, her movements slow and uncertain. No chances or time for fancy flourishes; just a quick in-hand bridge or two.

That Ten of Swords she pulled minutes ago was really starting to piss her off. Considering the situation, Maddy knew that it was a bad omen; she only hoped that fate would've decided to take the day off.

She was tired as all hell, but she pushed on through with one final strike against the horrible darkness.

Madison's cards arranged themselves in the air and flickered to life with what remaining strength she had. A snap of her fingers ripped through the air, echoing in the emptiness that choked her. A bolt of violet malice erupted from the reading, and headed straight for Titanius's piercing gaze.

The witch barely had the time to gather her cards and shuffle them back in before she collapsed to her knees. This was now everyone else's fight.

"And again!" A second punch followed. "And again!" A third one. A fourth one. Just... pure might. Each individual punch strong enough to shatter a giant rock. Yet... somehow, Seigi seemed to lack strength. Was it the... exhaustion?

"Damnit!" Seigi whispered annoyingly as she took another look around. She couldn't see @Cain Darlite anywhere, it was way too damn dark, but... "Saya!" The orange-hair ran up to @Rat as she hugged the warrior woman from behind. Right... didn't she talk some really weird... stuff? Really, really, weird? Was the Dissonance getting to her?! And... oh-my-god did she miss an arm? If only Seigi could see her glorious mustache — too bad Seigi glomped !Saya from behind.

Nonetheless, Saya had truly done enough for them and now to miss her arm, but healing magic could surely fix that? "You should take a well-earned rest! We destroyed the Soul, let us take care of the rest!" Seigi nodded. Though, honestly, she felt rather exhausted too. How long had this fight now been? Nearly half-a-day?

The battle felt like a grand fight out of a fantasy movie, except there's no CGI mooks. Corvella can feel Titanius weakening with every bash from her shield and with every berserker punch she landed. The armored knight figured that it's time already that the monstrosity fell to the combined power of the adventurers, but this thing is still here somehow. It still has strength to move its tentacle and slap Corvella out of its way, sending her flying backwards to the group of adventurers minding their own business. Recovering from the attack quickly thanks to @Janet Reilly's heal, she marched the group back to attack Titanius.

"Go, Witch Ops! We were trained to do this very thing!" She shouted another rallying cry to her teammates. Corvella didn't want to disappoint her commander, after Majolica trained them and shared the information they all needed to survive.

With berserk once again pumping adrenaline into her, blood veins start to noticeably appear on her skin. Corvella tried to wound Titanius by digging into its stomach with her shield like a mad dog. "You shouldn't have ripped off my Witch codename!" She grunted as acid sprayed from where she cut through. The pain only caused her to go even further into her berserk state. "Now you're going to feel the wrath of the Titan of the Witch Ops."

"Ack..!" Haru had barely made it back to the safety zone with his body intact. A mere skirmish that had begun with himself and various growths on the body had gone horribly wrong when the darkness came. Back to the royalty he went, escaping with only slight injury.

Haru wanted to take in his surroundings but already knew that he wouldn't be seeing them at any time. "Ha... we're really boxed in tonight, aren't we? I can't catch a break." The comment was supposed to be serious, but his voice started littering itself with chuckles after hearing Majolica's song. So this was the last stand...

Haru twirls his spear in hand and throws, a silver beacon alight with a glowing blue from Astor's blessing. There was no time to prepare himself and nowhere to aim. A shot in the dark, if you will. Soon enough it came reeling back to his body yet pain grew on his features as it did. Damn, that's what he gets for throwing his soul into the unknown and unknowable.

Milah watched as her arrow joined many of the other ranged attacks and spells, arching through the air and into the darkness… barely able to keep concentration on the faint blue spec that was hers as it smacked into the gigantic eye. She was pleased to see it land, felt an elation from knowing that she had managed to wound the beast again (however little it might be), but in her own carelessness Milah forgot to keep and eye on the surroundings.

A tentacle had sneaked closer and closer still, suddenly lashing out and effectively striking a surprised Milah. The force was enough to knock the brunette into the ground, a yelp of both surprise and pain escaping her lips as the Felis now struggled to pry the tentacle away. It wrapped around Milah’s ankle first, trying to drag her away, before slowly beginning to make it’s way up in a constricting hold around her waist.

Let! Go! Of! Me! You! Stupid! Calamari!

Milah hissed with every word, accentuated not only by her pronunciation but the tip of the bow that now sunk into the flesh of the tentacle attempting to grapple her in the ground. She could hear the worried cries of @Lycia as her twin joined in, scratching and pulling at the moist and rubbery flesh of the limb. Milah’s legs kicked, trying to find hold or purchase wherever possible, and finally the appendage was wounded and scratched enough into letting go of her frame.

Ugh, that thing is soooooo disgusting!

There was a gunky slime that clung to her armor and flesh, seemingly saturated with the same stomach acid that had pooled in some of the earlier areas the girls had moved through them. It eroded her equipment and stung her skin on the exposed places, eliciting another pained hiss before Milah’s eyes narrowed onto the eye once more.

Another arrow was pulled forth, still glowing with the magical buff of Astor, before fingers deftly nocked it to her bowstring and took aim. Breathe in… breathe out… breathe in… breathe out… Milah’s mind cleared as the palpitations on her chest slowed down, keen sight scanning the eye for any possible weakened areas she could take advantage of. Finally finding an alright looking spot the Felis allowed her second arrow to soar through the air, finding a similar purchase on the surface of the eye as her first.

All the players had been forced into a literal corner by the darkness and Titanius. Darkness enveloped the battlefield; Rivers could only see maybe a few feet in front of him. He hoped that everyone was alright, but he couldn't see anything. He called out to them, hoping they could hear his voice in all this madness. "Aristides! Futaba! Raid! Are you alright?!" He waited for a response momentarily. Did he even have time to waste on waiting for a response?

No. The longer he waited, the more people got hurt. He had to attack right now. He couldn't do much, but Rivers could give it all he had. After all, he'd knocked out that King. Which, coincidentally, was buffing him now...awkward. Rivers couldn't be bothered to know all the lore of this place. But, he'd been too excited to get into the game to read any lore. Maybe he'd end up in jail from it! And he'd have to live out the rest of this character's life as a prisoner instead of a fun-filled adventurer. He'd never be a hero that way! Rivers mentally spiraled for a couple seconds. Damn, that was a side track. He needed to focus. Rivers didn't have time to waste.

He couldn't see Titanius but knew he was going to attack it. Rivers called out to his friends once again. "I'm going to attack Titanius! Follow my lead!" He knew they'd hear him. He knew that their attacks would connect. Rivers trusted his friends to have his back even when he couldn't see them. Rivers charged forward before jumping airborne. Titanius was all around him so he could attack anywhere. He felt the buff of Frostfire seeping through him, empowering his every move. Rivers slammed his fists on the ground as he landed. His arms trembled as he stood. He rolled out of the way, making way for his friends to attack. He knew they'd connect.

    He knew it.

Against Cel’s better judgement, she’d actually gone straight back through the portal and into this nightmare again. It seemed dumb to do so, and frankly, it probably was, but this hideous thing needed to PAY for inflicting these vile tentacles upon her.

Unfortunately, the massive beast had other ideas, namely eating them all, which wasn’t as bad as it sounded - being immortal and all - but one could bet it would still hurt a ton. Or just be mentally scarring. Both perhaps.

So - unsurprisingly - Cel wandered around in the dark a bit nervous. She passed another freaked out adventurer on the left, heard a scream from the right... and behind her... and straight ahead... basically, there was a lot of screaming. If anything though, this was better. With no light, she didn’t have to see the grossness around her. Just jumpscares, which any longtime horror game fan would shrug and laugh at.

...too bad Celestine wasn’t a fan of horror.

    "IIIEEEEE!’

Celly shrieked as she felt some slimy thing touch her shoulder and immediately turned to fire a bolt of lightning in that direction. After a bit of thought, she realized it was actually one of the tentacles already on her, but maybe the lightning would hit something important anyway!
