The portal brought her back. Ilusa moved to reach Astor (the barrier was gone), who was pierced the huge limb with ice. It kept the limb in place and easy pickings for other adventurers. But his energy was low and he did not look good.

The Brotherhood got them energy Potions. Even though many of the little portals opened, a lot of potions were lost. But the felis ran over and grabbed two of them, then went back to Astor and pushed one of those potions into his hand, even as someone else did the same (and someone else gave D’vangelline some). Then she drank her own potion, watching her energy increase.

Her red eyes shone as the Queen acted, taking out a pedant and speaking words of prayer. Few could understand the words, but Ilusa was one of those who did. Her mastery of white Magic and vocation in religion made her perfectly aware just what D’vangelline was doing. She watched almost reverently as the queen offered a most treasured heirloom as sacrifice and got a miracle in return.

Ilusa gasped in wonder and glee at the mark of her patron Goddess (and mentally assigned greater importance to the queen) that appeared. And then watched the miracle, as the mark joined D’vangelline and then an aura of power shone upon everyone and the blessing of her patron Goddess spread. Checking the HUD showed exactly what it did. It was a powerful blessing, especially as it spread onto every player.

But then, as if to counter that miracle, a music theme started. It was dark, heavy, hungry. She could feel it. The monstrosity grew more powerful and darkness spread. Black spots, like glitches, like darkness appeared, spread, shrouding everything in its hold. Only the area around her was safe from the darkness. And she brandished her own rod and poured some energy into it to give additional light, a defiance against the darkness, but its effect was weaker than it should be. She was hit, by darkness wrapped, feline faces wearing cephalopod limbs.

A feeling of urgency came over her. An instinct long not used, the feeling of danger to her very life, the alarms, the instincts blared.

A blue light wrapped around her rod. A Frostfire from Astor. Bolstered by it, she started to defy the expectation, the death. “Bumba. Etwüre Borrë.” She strengthened her own magic for her last stand. Last attack.

After striking the Gaze with a punch, Futaba crounched close to Aristides, that ferociously attacked the aberration. They needed to damage him more though!

He looked back, seeing his friend Rivers charge toward the monster with a powerful attack. The Faerin grinned. 'I can always count with them!' Hanno thought seeing his friends fighting together. But suddenly the colossal creature forced them all to a corner. "FUCK!" He smashed his back on the wall and looked around the situation while trying to recover his breath... A few courageous players died because of that monster...

The Faerin stared at the eye, and frowned in anger. He wanted to attack it so much, but he didn't have enough stamina for that... Recover and attack with his friends. There was also another closeby player that was almost dying... No, he wouldn't let this happend!

"RIGHT, JUST GIVE ME A SECOND!" He clenched his fist and a bright warm light faded in.

    Heal.

The light passed through his body, closing the acidic wounds. Then flew toward @Bradwynne and faded out with the last magical energy it had.

"Now... Time to strike you down..." Hanno supported himself on his knees.

Cel just kept on firing: bolt after bolt of lightning. She didn’t know what to shoot, where to aim, or even if these things were doing any real damage. All she knew was, this thing needed to die, and it needed to die NOW.

"Do yourself the dying, you disgusting blob of the uglies! I was just wanting myself a nice little adventure, not all of this!"

Summoning a sharp lance of wind, she drove it down to stab the ground beneath, figuring the floor, itself, was also a valid target to hit.

"I can not wait to be doing this place a leave! Maybe I will do a making of the warm bubblebath and try to do this memory the scrubbing away... I wish there was mind soap - I would definitely do that a purchase."

The portal from the Core brought them back into the Body, where things looked like they were even more hectic than the Core had been. Mizuki was glad that she had brought Seigi with her, and was also happy to see that all the others who had helped take down Titania were getting out alive, her guilt for not saving them herself lessening.

Everything was dark, Mizuki closing her eyes as she listened to the world around her instead, sniffed only to get the scent of a lot of blood and something even worse, something which smelled rotten beyond rotten. Wrinkling her nose the Caenis furrowed her brow, nodding towards Seigi even as she began to feel her own anger rising. They'd fought so hard to get rid of the Core which caused this monster to keep reviving, but even with the Core gone the monster refused to die?

This thing is going down even if I have to rip it into little pieces by myself.

Having growled that the wolfwoman followed Seigi into the madness, tensing her fingers as she let the rage flow through her body, as essential as blood as she grabbed a tentacle that lashed out and ripped it off, throwing it away afterwards. Once she was in front of the eye she took one deep breath, then her golden eye turned red and both eyes lit up as she let loose.

    Time for you to disappear.

Releasing a feral growl Mizuki began to rip into the large monstrous eye, striking with both claws and then again, and again, her movements becoming faster and faster as she got into her rhythm and began to dig her way into what had to be the heart of this monstrosity, her gaze wild as she ignored the tentacles slamming against her and piercing her skin and armour, her entire being focused on one thing: the annihiliation of the last remnant of Titanius.

This was bad. The blackness encroached as far as it could go at any given time and swallowed up many things as the unknown was wont to do. He knew very well that frightened screams were intermingling with the battlecries of players that burned in the dark like flickering sparks. Light that was dimming and yet becoming more intense all the same. It swallowed his friends, it tore at his being, and now it just took his deer. Damn! He didn't even have the time to say goodbye.

Haru couldn't join in with the brave players' assault anymore. The encroaching darkness grew inside of his own body and at this time he knew he had made a mistake by attacking with his soul- allowing it to cling to and burn him away from the inside. "It hurts..." He couldn't help but give a little bit of complaint. It was his fault for never turning down the pain settings (not that he even would now) but by every god it hurt. He never truly felt moved by the concept of unavoidable, eventual entropy until now where he was dissipating into mere atoms to feed this monster. He was dying, and he knew it. It was just like what he felt outside of the game but much, much quicker.

That's not to say that he wouldn't continue being of use however. He had already started running towards a fallen form in the black. It was funny how after he had lost his resolve to fight he would run deeper than any same person would go in this beast save for the corpses of players who didn't retreat back into the circle in time- those who died fighting. Well, one who died fighting. He couldn't see anyone else at the moment. Perhaps their bodies were gone, consumed by Titanius. Even now this body was dissipating.

As if he would let that happen. Haru picks up the body gently as he would any other fragile object. The process was simple and he already knew how do do it. It was Kase all over again, and Haru had no qualms with repeating the process. The girl was riddled with dissonance in her form, and so he would simply fix that. Just take her corruption, her pain, and take it all within himself, like a sponge.

He already knew that it was a success. He didn't know where they stood in the black anymore as he had lost all sense of direction, so he holds her form tightly so that he can be a shield against the storm of dissonance. He speaks calmly- far too calm for the dire situation they stood in. "I've got you. Don't worry- we just need to hold on until the storm breaks. Can you do that for me? Just hang on..." He spoke to himself as much as he did to the person whose name he didn't even know. He didn't want to admit it, but he was scared.

Bradwynne was surprised when a cart of potions arrived within the stomach of Titanius. Maybe it was the supplies that should be needed for a long battle. It had been half a day since they had plunged right into the body of Titanius, and anything needed to survive for a much longer time should be a welcome development. As the party was being protected by the shield of the Queen of Falderen, he felt at peace while he was downing a number of energy potions. As he felt a lot better compared before, he wondered what kind of ingredients were in those bottles. He was thinking about it as he was downing his third potion when the cart suddenly fell off into oblivion following the closing of the portal. He then wondered why; the pprtals that were being created by this person named Ivan was without peer up to this day. He then felt something was wrong within the body as everything plunged into darkness by the monster in whose innards they were in currently. And Bradwynne knew the reason.

"All right, the spirit of this vile creature might have died, but the magic that created this abomination could never easily cease to exist, and in fact might have gotten berserk. Now is the chance to finish this vile beast and return to our homes!" He then drew the sheathed dagger with his left hand, and drew his katana with his right. He then saw that it became enchanted with the power of a flame that burned cold. Suddenly, reacting to this development, dark tendrils shot through every person within the stomach, and pierced through Bradwynne's body, inflicting wounds on his arms and legs. As he was about to buckle from the injuries, a light suddenly illuminated him, partially healing his extremities. He then looked for the source of the healing light, and then he saw a diminutive person sporting teal hair arranged in a short ponytail. He then said to him, "Thank you for the heal, I will remember this! Hope to see you again!" before storming to the walls of the stomach of the creature, inflicting as much pain on it as possible.

    Everything was going to hell.

The beast had knocked him, @Rivers Asteire, and @Hanno Futaba into the corner, and all the lights had gone out, leaving everything shrouded in darkness. Aristides swore as he fell to the ground, every part of his body screaming with pain. This was bad. This was so bad. Everything hurt. Was he going to die here? What happened when you died in this game? He would reload. He would be fine. But that didn't make the pain any less real, or the fear any less palpable. As he stood weakly to his feet he saw Rivers hurl himself at the eye once more, and Futaba healing him up. Good. They were okay. They'd be okay. They had to be.

    "Got your back, Rivers."

As Rivers fell away from his blow, Aristides rushed after him and dove his claws into the gargantuan eye with as much force as his body could muster. It felt like barely anything at all...but there was something more in his strike than he expected. A blaze of blue flame--or maybe it was ice?--escaped his hands and struck Titanius for more than he'd managed alone. A damage buff? Good. They needed all the help they could get.

I don't have much left in me...

    ...Joyce, I'm scared...

The light filled her. The light buffed her. The light wrapped around her. But perhaps it was because of resonance, perhaps because of the instincts screaming at her, it was not reassuring.

The anger that she thought was expended, returned with vengeance. It was spurred by the instinct, by the feeling of danger. The anger, the cold rage took over the fear.

Players threw themselves with all they could at the monster they could not really see anymore. The darkness was everywhere, it was hiding the monster, which only increased the feeling of fear in many.

Even the HUD was flickering and lagging when it came to finding the Boss and its Health Bar.

It was annoying (frightening) and it got in the way. The uncertainty where exactly the monster was, where it was hiding behind the darkness made attacks hard, made avoiding the attacks even harder.

Ilusa gripped her rod together, bathing in its light (that had the blue hue thanks to the buff that Astor supplied). Astor was amazing, managing to give such buff to everyone.

Players fought. Bled. Attacked and were attacked. The attacks at her flesh. They hurt her. They took away her health. They fuelled her anger. They fuelled her desperation.

“Zi zïze he reä.” Usually, she abstained from fighting. She preferred to stick to her support role. But this fight was unlike any before. And the rage in her demanded that she would make it pay for the torment it caused. After all, she had no magic that could erase the mental scars. “Gyalge toze ne ma meete.” The light glowed around her rod, around her.

A bright spot of light with bit of blue in it. The buff, the Frostfire mingled with her spell, with her light, supporting it.

The felis raised her rod, pouring more energy into the spell and more of her feelings into it. “La drïte, re ze!” With the last words of the spell screamed out, she brought her rod down in slashing motion and the light from its top sprang at the darkness.

The white light with blue tinges and fire tore through the darkness, searching its enemy. And it hit the hidden monstrosity, hurting it hard.

But actions have consequences and the attack garnered her attention of the Boss. It attacked back. Ilusa screamed without sound as more of her health was drained, pain spreading through her. But her rod still was on light, it still gave light to the people.

And Blake is back and ready for action! It was marvelous to see that everyone was still okay... Well, at least for what she could see, that is. She quickly ran towards the faint source of light, and found the rest of the people safely there, but there was no barrier... That must've mean that the tentacle broke through it. Still, it was good to see that the tentacle had been quickly taken care off once they managed to close the rift. But as soon as she got there, everything went to black, as more and more adventurers were dragged into the never-ending darkness, only to lose their lives to such a foul being.

Gritting her teeth and clutching her fists, she tried to muster the strenght to brave into the darkness and strike upon her foe, but she wasn't able to. She was scared. Trying as she might, her feet wouldn't leave the ground. She couldn't do it alone, not in a million years. But then, the others attacked. Dashing into the unknown, knowing very well how likely death was but still doing it without fear... She needed to be like them, or else she would be just a dead-weight. Just like before.

And after Astor's shouting connected to her ears, a small spark of courage igniting inside of her, before it became a huge flame, fueling itself by her very own desire to be like the others, strong and all-mighty. Running into the darkness, she paid no mind as tentacles hit and tried to grab her. Damage was the least of her worries now, for she was going to hit that thing until she's naught but a speck of dust. Leaping onto @Sean Poteitoku 's shoulders, she jumped from them, before delivering a massive axe kick to the eye below. It wasn't enough to kill it, but it damn right did hurt it. After she landed, she turned her back to the faint light once again, before shouting at the top of her lungs.

Titanius lurked in the black emptiness, snatching away a few survivors at a time. Its hunt was steady and methodical, not too slow, not to fast. Sometimes, it could only away a limb or two. Other times, it would get half a dozen of people to feast on. However, with its preys continually fighting back, its health tanked. When its health dropped below a certain threshold, a low, incomprehensible wailing could be heard in the dark. Then, every so often when players spotted Titanius, they can see its pitch black body infrequently pulsated with a red glow, revealing a bit of its true form.

Those who were searching for the Gaze or Titanius itself, @Ash Vargold @Rias would not have been able to see anything in the dark, until the Gaze burst out from the darkness and devoured the entire vanguard right in front of them, giving them the chance to see it.

The Gaze has become massive now, its body appearing like a snake but not quite. There were unnatural bulbs that truncated its lengthy body. It was almost as though it was composed of hundred of black eyeballs that had been grotesquely smashed together to create one, complete form. Anyone who was monitoring Titanius through their Investigation UI would be able to get glimpses of the monster’s status. It was not good news for the group, however. They had triggered its Ultra Enrage mode.

Although Titanius has been toying with its food up until now, its hubris has led it to take far more damage than it had anticipated. Now, it was time to stop playing for good. Strange sounds could be heard in the dark as it slithered around the group and formied a ring with its perpetual motion. Anyone who came into the fridge near Titanius moving body was immediately minced into a thousand pieces before it absorbed them.

D’vangelline watched in horror as it was her first time seeing such a monstrosity. To think that it has been playing with them up until this point, and despite their best effort, it could still beat them so easily. In the face of such thoughts, she couldn’t help but falter slightly.

Astor on the other hand was furious at Titanius’ tenacity, it truly live up to its legend, a monster that refused to die. However, knowing that time was not something he had much of, he had to hurry and do something befitting of a king. When he tapped on the Queen’s shoulder, she did not respond, which prompted him to kick her onto the ground to get her attention.

Hey, snap the fuck out of it. It’s going to eat us if we don’t do anything soon. If you’re a leader than start acting like one. These people are in this situation because of us, we have to redeem ourselves. There’s always time to mope around and this is not that time. And, I am not saying that just because I am about to pass the fuck out.

Apologies, you right, I feel so ashamed for faltering now at this point. But, we don’t have any other choice anymore. We have to charge into battle with nothing more than reckless, if not idiotic courage to protect the world and people we love. Shall we do it? One final combined attack.

Stop yammering and pick up your weapon then. Yo, everyone, we’re going to charge into Titanius like idiots and die now. You’re mostly players so fight hard and let’s protect this motherfucking world.

D’vangelline normally had a distaste for such crude language, but being thrust into a life-threatening battle like that made her preference for proper completely trivial. And so, the blonde girl stood up on her feet once more and dropped her shield. There was no longer any need for defense, they were either going to kill the monstrosity, or they die.

Bending down, she tore parts of her dress and tied the fabric to the tip of her spear, turning it into a makeshift warbanner. Then, she pointed her spear toward Titanius and let out a boisterous roar as she charged into battle; death was not going to stop her from charging into the mouth of death. Meanwhile, Astor turned to the rest of the group

We’re going to do one final, maybe suicidal, combined attack now. Deal as much damage as you can muster together with the group even if it kills you. Go, go, go, don’t let the idiot queen die by herself.

After his combination with Aristides and Futaba, Rivers heard the sounds of everyone around him fighting with Titanius. It was getting weaker. It was so weak now. Any attack could finish it off. Even...even one like his. Surely something as grand as last hitting this thing would be really heroic. And Rivers did want to be a hero. Telling people he got the last hit on such a massive enemy would surely make him seem impressive! Of course, it was a team effort and he'd be sure to mention that. But still, downing something this epic would make him seem so cool.

Then the King rallied everyone together and asked that they all pull together to attack. Everyone seemed to be on board with this, meaning Rivers had to do his part to help out! He gathered around with his friend @Aristides and @Hanno Futaba and prepared to attack Titanius. He once again leapt into the air to pound the ground, but when he hit Titanius, he felt a sharp pain from his arms. H-had he broke his arms from his own attack? Really?

Rivers howled with pain. This was not at all what was supposed to happen when he attacked.

There had once been a girl—a good daughter, a hard worker, a simple face and a tiny piece in a small, small world of farm and field and finite youth. She never wanted change. She wanted life to stay the same forever, was content to rise each morning for her chores and daily tasks and then to start the cycle over in the evening. It was safe. It was comfortable. And when she left that place behind, the girl still couldn’t shake that feeling. The sense of danger in the unknown. The sense of fear in what she, a girl from a small town and a small farm, could not understand—and worse, a whole world of depravity one girl (one woman, one mother) could not possibly stand up to.

It was different now. Her muscles flexed as weight increased by tenfold in her helm, the armor-turned-flowerpot beneath her arm as her magic branch took root, its oak grain crackling, twigs and other limbs extending from the wood. It was growing. Janet didn’t close her eyes—she didn’t have to. Not anymore. A hardwood sapling arched from her dented helmet, thickening as bark crept up its sides and thickly-knotted roots spilled past her fingertips.

    I have a purpose.

She had a chance at fighting back at evil for the first time and seeing a result. This was an enemy she could fight, not just with charity or bake-sales or a weekly agenda. Titanius was here, and real, and unimaginably warped. These people all around her risked their lives to battle on, risked their bodies on the other side to the Dissonance’s power. The Witch Ops ranks had formed again, lending Janet courage. Commander. Titan. Guide. Guillotine Priest. Bound Prince. Dark heroes brought together to defend Astorea from this, the heart of darkness. Her heart quickened. This is it.

Janet hefted the oak tree in both hands like a ten-foot club with bristling twigs and half-formed leaves and raised it high above her head. “We will shut you down,” she said as tears of rage and effort sprang into her eyes. The bark cracked in her iron grip as in a swirl of brown hair the teenager sprang forth alongside her team and slammed the tree into Titanius's slithering maw like a hammer at a carnival, every ounce of strength and muscle in her body going towards the hit.
