Personality
William is a wisened individual who has lived a life full of ups and downs. In the past, he was a cutthroat businessman. He had drive, he had moxy, he had a predatory disposition. Some of these traits carried on into his aged state. He is still an efficient and methodical person. If he's going to do something, he's going to do it right. He researches the thing at hand, he approaches it logically, and he tries to resolve it himself. Unfortunately, old school 'business' didn't teach him to work well with others. It taught him to be the best so that he didn't need others, unless they were working for him. Because of this... he can be quite uncooperative. It depends on how invested he is in solving it himself. Sometimes, this stubbornness can keep him in a rut for a long period of time. On the positive side, it causes him to be a diligent and reliable worker, if not a bit single-minded.
One thing that has increased in combination with his age and the passing of a tragic event is his sense of forlornness. Sometimes, he can become introverted and distant from others especially when he is reminded of the loss of his wife. These periods of depression vary in length, but he usually comes bouncing out as his normal self after a few minutes. Another new aspect is how curious he is about the game. He has been working for over 40 years, and having recently retired, Terra Sphere is completely unknown territory for him. As someone who has lived a whole life, it's a refreshing change, and it is helping him be more spontaneous, and energetic at times.

Biography
William was born to be a business mogul. He was born in London to a wealthy family with fingers in every economic sector. He received a thorough education as well as tutoring to prepare him for a life of economic supremacy. Then, around the age of 18, his father gave him a substantial loan and sent him off to work on his own. During this brief period of freedom from his thus-far structured existence, he met the love of his life, and a year later, was married. After they settled down, and their relationship was stable, he went to work.
William started out with a small printing business, and from there he began to branch out. The printing was just to have a fall back, something physical to rely on if his other ventures didn't pan out. That's because William didn't want to actually provide a 'product' or perform a particular 'service'. He wanted to be the man in the middle. Someone who could connect person A with a suitable person B. He started by targeting mining companies, finagling himself into their good graces, and then connecting them with manufacturers with him as the middleman. He took a cut of the money, but saved them all the trouble of actually finding buyers themselves.
With this being successful, he took it a step further. He took those same manufacturers that he had made connections with, and introduced them to successful retailers. People to sell their products. And the pattern continues. He took all these businesses, the miners, the manufacturers, the retailers, and he connected them with suitable employees willing to work for a competitive wage. William had to massively expand his base of operations, so he built an office building, quite a distance from his home and loving wife.
This is when things began to spiral out of control. Business became his entire waking day. He worked religiously for years, expanding his influence, dabbling in the political realm, and making investments in other businesses. Before he even realized it, he was old, tired, and wanted comfort. For the first time in more than two decades, he took a vacation with his wife. His heart shook when they saw each other. Where had all the time gone? When had they both become so worn and aged? Most importantly, when had his wife's health taken a turn for the worse?
At some point during his ridiculous work regiment, his wife had been diagnosed with cancer. Having access to his wealth, she was taking care of it on the down low, in order to avoid worrying him. Unfortunately, it had reached a point where there was nothing more that could be done. With a heavy heart, William decided to spend time with her until she passed away. They traveled the world, saw things that he could have never imagined. Beautiful things, new things, things he had denied himself all his life in the name of 'wealth'. Regret crept into his psyche, and he reached a breaking point when she finally passed.
Tired and sad, he retired, passing his company off to a distant relative. He didn't have a son of his own, so he wanted it to remain in the family somehow. He then settled down in the house they had held since they were first married, swimming through the few memories of their life together that he actually had. Whilst packing away his business supplies, he noticed a notification on his phone. It was a strange email that said something about a VR adapter. He didn't know much about VR. He had considered himself too old school for that. But now, he was aimless, and after experiencing the world, he was curious. He quickly bought one and joined this world called Terrasphere.
