  1. It was late, a time of night when the streets of Stockbon were usually empty save for the few drunks that were still clumsily trying to make their way back home. However, tonight the town still had one visitor, who had come a long way, dressed in a dark hooded cape riding on a mare rented from one of the nearby towns. Duke Rutledge had gone out of his way to mask his appearance this night. Though he didn't think he had any actual political enemies yet, it could never hurt to be careful. So he had told his estate he was going adventuring with Gwyn, a small quest in Norofva, and headed in that direction, before doubling back, and heading towards Stockbon. He had even gone so far as to stable his horse, and rent another for the journey while wearing rather drab clothing compared to his standard purple and pink. He'd prefer to do more but lacked any other ideas of how to proceed; it would have to do. Eventually, he wound up in Stockbon, timing his arrival carefully to arrive late at night, and bribing the sole watch guard as a result. With haste, he pushed towards the center of town, looking for what had been described to him.

"A secret passage hides disguised behind a false wall, laced between smoky back roads and dank alleyways."

Unlike other players, when Roland had first started Stockbon had been the primary city in which they gathered. As such he had spent an inordinate amount of time, shuffling through the streets, looking for secrets and easter eggs. Thus, he knew a handful of possible locations that contained smoky back roads, and dank alleyways. More specifically, he knew a set of them, that the guard routinely ignored, one that had been dubbed crime alley by an old drinking buddy, due to the number of muggings that occurred there. Roland had always expected group thieves are banding together and paying off the guard for a sliver of land to operate on, but in hindsight, it didn't make sense. The rumors kept people away; it wouldn't make much business sense to rely on the few lost tourist that stumbled through. No, it would make more sense if the rumors were false, and merely a pretense to hide something. Something like the Aristocracy.

After spending a few hours being lost in the winding streets, Roland finally found the fake wall, passing it with a grimace as he entered into was seemed to be a dimly lit grand entrance hall. Confused Roland spun around. "Is it some sort of illusion magic?" he said quietly before noticing the finely dressed attendant comfortably sitting at the end of the hall. With a grunt, Roland strode forward to them opening his mouth before he arrived at the table. "I'm going to guess you're who I am looking for. I've heard that your group can find people, or more specifically look into a person's past. I'd be very much interested in the latter.... but I need to know, how much this will cost, and what you need to know to start." Roland let the question hang in the air, waiting for a response.

The woman sitting behind the desk looked up at the man who managed to find the place. Given the secretive nature of the establishment, it was unexpected that someone had come personally instead of sending a letter with the detail of the job. Regardless of her feelings on the matter, she wasn't about to turn a patron away .

Per usual procedure, the woman stood up from her receptionist stand, revealing her prim and proper maid outfit, which matched her black hair and bespectacled ruby-colored eyes. Afterward, she gestured for him to step into the room to her left. If he had looked, there was no door leading into the room. However, the moment he approached it the door would appear to him.

Once both of them were inside the luxurious office, the maid closed the door behind them and sealed the entire frame with some kind of magic, which she was able to cast without a single word.

Welcome to the Aristocracy, Duke @Roland Rutledge. Looking into a person's past will not be a problem for us. But, it does depends on the person's renown and lineage.

However, some families pay a hefty sum to keep their deeds out of the public sphere, while others are more than careless. I cannot give you a quote or a timeline until after we properly assess the job. So, whose past would you like to dig up today?
