  1. Nyx

    Nyx

_____Nyx was now officially pissed off at this world. Everywhere she went people either chose to baby her or ask her what she was doing without her parents. She was a trained assassin of the shadow order British branch! She was the last one standing of her class of the elites! She was not some ‘little girl’ or ‘squirt’ for crying out loud! Her temper, and appearance however only made her inner rage seem nothing but a childish fit. Leg pulling back as she kicked a rock into someone’s window and buffed her cheeks up.

_____If it had not been for the fact her weapon was damn near impossible to walk around with she would go around cutting the head off every person who called her childish names or treated her like one. Instead all she could do was throw poisoned needles at them and she ran out of anything serious during her last job and yet to resupply leaving her with only sleep and sickness to choose from. Kicking another rock out of her way as she blew some hair out of her face and kept stomping across the street.

_____Her direction, was out of town simply to get away from the people and narrow street so she could vent some anger with her scythe. When she managed to reach the forest with a decent enough clearing she quickly took out her scythe and fumbled a few feet under the weight before holding it steady and shouting at the top of her lungs causing birds to scatter. Frame moving as a whole to tug the weapon behind her as it glowed black and cut into the first tree half way before it got stuck.

_____Nyx’s frame moved forward without her upper body and she lost her footing. Grip on the weapon soon failing her as she fell down on her rear and shouted yet again, this time using some rather colorful langue she learned from the adults who trained her in how to kill. Grumbling as she rose back to her feet, and began tugging at her weapon’s hilt to try and get it free from the tree only half chopped down. All the while showing no end to her cursing and grumbling for how long it was taking her.

  2. Sean had been in a secluded-or, he thought it was secluded enough-part of the woods for a while. He was training for some sort of initiation trial, and he was serious. A good mind wins initiations... Or something?

After a while, he heard a shout. Ignore it, Sean, it's just some random person. He went back to his train-

Another shout, this time accompanied by some of the foulest language Sean had ever heard. Thoroughly irritated, he moved towards the source of the sound into a clearing.

Who he saw was... Not what he expected. A little girl wielding a giant scythe? Shrugging it off, Sean stepped forward.

"Somebody should teach you some manners. It's bad to have such a foul mouth."

  3. "What the--"

Madison snapped out of her little meditative trance by a commotion in the nearby brush. There she sat, covered in vines, tapped into the flow of nature, trying to understand more about the limits of her magical abilities. The witch was able to become one with the world for fleeting moments, able to sense nearby life. And yet, whatever was causing this disturbance was too strong of a spirit to be picked up. However that worked.

Slowly, the briars that connected her to the earth receded back into it. Madison brushed the dirt off her clothes and rose to her feet.

More screaming. Whatever it was, it was incredibly angry, and incredibly rude. And from the register of its voice, either incredibly small or incredibly young.

Madison's imagination started to run wild. Most of the dangerous wildlife in Dunnstads kept to the shoreline, leaving only wolves and big-ass cats and the occasional bear to roam the woods.

    ...Maybe it was a goblin?

    Could've been.

The influx of newbies in Brisshal could've pushed the smarter clans out of the province, leaving them to avoid the slaughter by finding new homes.

Madison produced a card from her tarot deck and charged it with a migraine curse. Just a little something to disable whatever leaped from the bushes after she cleared her throat.

"Are you a goblin," she asked the thing in the brush. "If you are, please scream at me in an unintelligible manner."

  4. Nyx

    Nyx

_____The voice from nearby drew Nyx’s focus with a sharp turn, rage flickering in her eyes as she glared at the male and soon turned back to trying to free her weapon again. She was in no mood to deal with someone right now. Sadly as another voice broke her focus Nyx growled and shouted more curse words while tugging her weapon more. Getting it free finally and falling over with the amount of extra force she still was using to even move it.

    ”Leave… Alone… or… head lost!”

_____Nyx growled back at the two people who had spoke before pulling her weapon up and getting it ready once more. Blade glowing black as she swung at the previous cut to get the rest of the tree cut down and watched as it began to fall to the ground. Clicking her tongue as she slammed the weapon to the ground and marched to the next tree to get ready to cut down another. If the two seemed to only have more to say she would turn and point the weapon at them and wobble as a result.

    ”Fuck… away!”

  5. As Sean heard her talk, he started to get worried. Did she get a concussion? Thinking for a bit, he took out his sword. "I wouldn't attack me if I were you." He held the sword at his side as a show that he was ready. "Do you need a Snickers?" He slightly chuckled, but quickly regained composure. "Why are you so angry?"

  6. Madison's head involuntarily cocked to one side.

What a curious sight. Not a goblin, but a faerin; one that looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn't quite put her finger on where she could've seen the feisty little girl before. But there she was, trying to chop down trees with a scythe. Which was even more curious.

The witch took a step closer. "Do you, uh--"

She watched on as the little sprite yanked with enough force to free her tool and have some leftover to send her sprawling on her ass. The faerin didn't seem terribly fazed by this particular setback; she rose up to her feet in a huff and resumed her work--whatever the hell it was.

Nearby, Sean had loosened his weapon, apparently threatened by the girl. Madison raised a hand to stop him, having almost completely forgotten about his Death Affliction and how he might feel threatened by the child.

The woman turned her attention back to the strange little girl. "Do you, like, need some help there, little one?"

”Fuck… away!” The reply came sharp, like the last of a whip.

Oh, wow. Right. Madison's gaze narrowed at her. "Or do you just need a nap?"

  7. Nyx

    Nyx

_____As the two seemed to not get Nyx’s point she slowly turned from the tree to glare at them. Both of them just seemed to think this was just some joke? Hands tightly gripping her weapon as the black glow returned and she began to growl lightly, her focus mostly on the one with his hand near his weapon. Did he seriously want to try and fight her, try to stop her? Nyx slowly moved closer, daring Sean to even so much as try to further draw his weapon against her. If he did She would rush forward, if he did not she would stop just far enough away as to avoid looking up to much at the two.

”Not clear? Leave… NOW! Or BLEED!!!~”

_____This time Nyx would not stop moving forward, weapon moving quickly as she swung for Sean’s right side fully in tending to cleave him in half for his laughter and weird comment she did not understand. Even if her strike missed, unless her weapon was stopped and she could not move it she would turn to start attacking the woman also. Frame moving with a slight flow, pulling the shaft of her weapon to bring it closer to allow her to spin around easier.

_____Blade glowing again as she jumped up slightly pulling the weapon behind her and trying to arch it over while letting the shaft move outward to use it’s reach again to attack. If she was lucky enough her weapon would come down on the woman’s head and cut in, least that was her hope. Worst case it was evaded and Nyx was left with her weapon stuck in the ground instead of a tree now.

  8. As Sean watched the little girl run at him with a giant scythe, he couldn't help but laugh. As she got close, he jumped clear over her scythe. "Predictable!" He shouted, landing and smashing the hilt of his blade into her stomach with just enough force to send her tumbling over. "I told you so." He lowered his weapon to his side once more. "Do you get the message now? Try to have a heart."

Sean looked to the other person who arrived. "You heard her too, I guess?"

  9. Madison's lip curled in disgust as the two traded sophomoric barbs. Oh my god. If people only put as much effort into their offense as they did trying to sound like an anime bad-ass, maybe they'd actually hit someone for a change.

But suddenly, the blade of the faerin's scythe screamed towards her head. The witch was able to sidestep it just in time, the sharp edge passing in front of her mere inches away before embedding itself in the dirt.

The woman quickly drew a tarot card out of her sleeve. It began to ripple with wisps of green energy as she focused it into a spell. Thick thorny briars erupted from the ground around the angry little girl, attempting to wrap themselves around her weapon and keep her from wildly swinging it again.

Madison reached for her belt, where a row of small glass bottles hung across her lap. "You need to calm down, young lady."

Tearing one particular vial loose, she offered it to the faerin. The purple liquid sloshed around inside. If one sniffed the cork stopper, they'd catch a faint whiff of grape. "Here, have a juice box, and we can talk about this like grown-ups, okay?"

  10. Nyx

    Nyx

_____Not once but twice her attacks failed, and not once but both times they each hit her back in some form or another. Her face turning annoyed as she growled loudly and kept trying to get her weapon free from the ground and vines that ensnared it. When the glass bottle was offered Nyx only growled again before trying to swat it away with the back of her hand in annoyance. She was not some little kid, and she hated to be treated as such as she growled and kicked some of the veins that held her weapon down.

_____Turning her focus to the male who kicked her Nyx hissed at him, hands quickly moving into her sleeves before the faint sound of metal clicked from behind the cloth covers. Another brief moment passing before she swung her arms towards him and a sudden flash of light would likely strike his eyes. The result of metal needles crossing the light at just the right angle to reflect into his eyes and likely blind him long enough to get one or two of the ten thrown to hit him. The dangerous part however was more the fact each was coated with a neural poison.

_____Her temper not exactly stopping at a few tossed as Nyx moved her hands again and kept throwing the needles and a knife every so often at the boy. So far he was simply more annoying and, for lack of better terms appeared weaker then the woman. He spoke like his ego was all that mattered, a simple chance of dodging and he got full of himself, the sort that really pissed Nyx off. The woman on the other hand aside from looking stronger, did not speak up or get cocky.

  11. A concealed weapon. Totally predictable.

Sean quickly dashed to the side, barely avoiding the needles and occasional knives. "Woah, you should be careful there, or somebody might get hurt!" He went into thought for a second while running and got an idea. "I hope this works... Beschütze mich, mein Flammenschild, Blaze Barrier!"

    skill
    Blaze Barrier

A shield of flames sprouted in front of Sean, the needles bouncing off it. A small wave of heat emitted from the shield, making anybody caught in it feel like they're taking a hot bath. "Calm down or I'll really stab you!"

  12. Oh my god. Is he really--yes, yes he is. Holy shit, people actually do that.

Madison hated nothing more than a mouth-breather who shouted out the name of their attack in their pitchy pre-pubescent squeak toy of a voice. In the five seconds it took for the reckless boy to get his spell charged and call his shot, she had ample time to take a couple steps back--hopefully away from any ignitable foliage--and put her arms up to protect herself from the heat.

The wall of flame burst into existence and somehow managed to save him from the poisoned throwing needles. Even more astonishing, considering that the redhead didn't look like much of a spellcaster at all.

"Alright, I've had enough enough this," Madison muttered to herself. Producing her deck of cards and giving it a quick bridge shuffle, the witch dealt herself a hand of three. The cards pulsated with green energy as she channeled energy into them.

"It's time out for you, young lady!"

With a snap of her fingers, the witch's spell was cast. A dozen or so thick lengths of vine burst from the earth around @Nyx, swarming her and attempting to drag her down to the ground where she wouldn't be able to hurt anyone for a minute--including herself.

Satisfied with her work, the plagueslinger turned towards @Sean Poteitoku, jabbing an accusatory finger his way. "And as for you," she snarled, "Do you have any idea how stupid you sound shouting the name of your spells like that?"

Maddy threw up her hands, mimicking the redhead with an exaggerated swing of her hips. "Neerrrrrr, Bergentrückung Autobahn Weinersnitchel BlazBlue Barrier!" Her eyes rolled so hard they scraped against the inside of her skull. "Fucking nerd," she spat at him as she walked towards Nyx. "If I catch you doing that again, I'm stuffing your mouth with soooo much poison ivy."

He should've counted himself lucky that the sassy little murderchild hadn't killed him five times over in the may-as-well-have-been-hours it took him to cast his little fire wall spell.

Madison drew closer to Nyx, kneeling down to get to eye level with the girl. "Now, you mind telling me what your problem is?"

  13. Nyx

    Nyx

_____Nyx was not going to calm down any time soon, that was simply a fact as she struggled against the restraints and growled at Sean mostly but every so often growled at Madison. If they tried to see if from her side of things it would slightly make sense. She was already in a sour mood, despite saying to leave they stuck around. When she tried to use force to get them to give her space one mocked her. When she went after that one he made a threat to harm her and the other locked her up. She was left unable to defend herself and still saw a weapon drawn on her.

_____Nyx turned her focus back to Sean as she just kept growling at him, aside from the sword there was also still the annoying fact of his magic shield he seemed to forget to cancel causing her to keep burning up at such a close range to it. The anger in her eyes towards him only seemed to keep rising the longer she was locked up and kept burning and under threat of being attacked like that of a wild animal. Sad enough to say with how much of herself she lost in such short time the idea to assume her akin to an animal in fight or flight mode was likely baseline now.

_____If such wasn’t it would be clear soon as Nyx moved to try and bite the binding that held her still, not exactly worried when her own teeth cut her skin in the attempts. Maybe they would notice the best way to deal with her was it remove her weapon, and just try to keep from showing hostility so she would not mimic it with interest back. That or they could wait her out until she ended up biting herself to much and bleed out, or tired herself out as she kept struggling under the heat and restrains.

  14. Sean had been bracing for the impact of needle against flesh, closing his eyes so he didn't have to see it...

    It never came.

"Huh...?" He slowly opened his eyes. In front of him was a shield made of fire, the needles aimed at him scattered on the ground in front of it. "Wait, WHAT? HOW THE HELL DID FIRE BLOCK THAT?" He just stared at the needles, confused, the flame shield dissipating.

"Do you have any idea how stupid you sound shouting the name of your spells like that? Neerrrrrr, Bergentrückung Autobahn Weinersnitchel BlazBlue Barrier! Fucking nerd. If I catch you doing that again, I'm stuffing your mouth with soooo much poison ivy."

Sean slowly turned his head to look at the person who suddenly spoke.

"Well, I didn't choose my incantations! And don't even think about telling me to use Assist Mode, my interface is broken!" Sean didn't sound angry, just extremely annoyed. "Oh, yeah, try learning some actual German."

  15. Madison blinked.

The absolute nerve of this rude little jerk, talking back to her after she saved his ass and made a suggestion that would save him time and effort on his spellcasting.

Her face hardened. "I don't like the tone of your voice, friendo."

She took a menacing step closer to the pyromancer. "It's incredibly easy to choose your incantations. You could've just shouted 'firewall!', and it would've had the same effect." Madison jabbed her thumb towards the faerin as she struggled under the weight of her vines. "Had you gone up against someone a bit more talented, they would've poked your eye out before you could've choked on the first umlaut."

"Or might I recommend a magical tool, such as these?" Madison fanned her deck in the air between the two, sunlight catching on the oily back of the cards, the colors shifting from shiny black to a miasmic purple to a sickening crimson as she waved them around. "A wand, a ring, a staff--you just point and shoot! Hell of a lot easier than remembering archaic try-hard phrases. Here, let me demonstrate--"

Madison drew a random card from her deck and flicked it towards the little ball of anger and energy to her right. The Six of Spades ignited in a burst of green light. The briars rustled as they bowed to the witch's command, releasing the faerin from their thorny grasp.
