"Hehehe, we can't rely on the UI anymore, so we'll have to do this by hand. I'm busy setting things up so you can do it. Here are some descriptions and their names. Hehehe, be sure you don't miss anyone! Hehehe!"

About a week has passed since you signed your name into The Grand Witch's notebook. You have heard nothing from anyone since then, which you may or may not think is strange. As you remember, after giving her speech The Grand Witch simply flew off. Did she actually intend to put you through a trial? Or was it all a game? Maybe even some kind of joke? At this point, you really have no way of knowing. Though soon, you would come to realize that you had not been forgotten, and the trial was just beginning...

One day as you go about your daily business you suddenly hear a strange sound. At first, it sounds like an angry crow in the distance. But as the sound becomes louder, you begin to realize that you understand the sounds as language.

    "CAW! CAW CAW CAW CAWWWWW!"

"Where the bloody hell... oh, I guess there. Such a dreadful chore..."

If you happen to be outside, the sound is above you. Looking up, you notice a strange bird carrying an even stranger elegant looking purple letter. As you eye the bird, it turns and makes eye contact with you. Having now made eye contact, the bird turns flying directly towards you. As it nears, it drops the letter it is carrying.

If you are inside, the sound comes in through the window. If either the window is opened, or you go to the window and open it, the owl, seeming rather annoyed, swoops in dropping the letter in front of you.

If you are inside and do not open a window, the owl bursts through the glass with an angry "Caw, Caw!" which you understand as "BLOODY GLASS!" After its startling entrance, it drops the letter in front of you.

Regardless of how you first come into contact with the owl, it is perfectly healthy condition as it enters and finds the nearest perch, either your shoulder, a chair, a bed-frame, or anything it can rest on comfortably, and addresses you calmly.

"Caw. Caw caw caw. CawwwwwwWWww. CawwW. Caw, caw-CAW caw. CAWWWWWWW!. Caw, caw caw caw Caw. Cawww caw ca-caw. CaWWWWWW. Caw, ca-ca-caw. CawWWWwWwWWW!"

"By order of The Grand Witch, you are hereby summoned to the witch's cottage in Brisshal Forest. Pack your things and make haste. You'll find instructions and directions in the letter. The trial has begun."

As he finished, the owl flew off the way he came. If you try and speak to the owl, he simply rolls his eyes and leaves. Apparently, this very grumpy cawing owl has no desire to start a conversation or answer any questions.

If you examine the letter the owl has left you, you'll find it is rather well made and quite fancy. The envelope is a beautiful shade of deep purple and sealed with obsidian wax. On the wax, you may notice a witch's hat symbol. If you've seen any Witch Ops members sticky sticker, you would immediately recognize it as the same symbol. The "Halloween Orange" lettering adorning the envelope is a perfect balance between artistic and legible.

Opening the envelope, you would find a letter the same color as the envelope. By examining the letter, you would at first notice that there were no words on the paper. Seemingly, someone had accidentally sent you a blank piece of paper. Then, as you hold the paper in your hands, words begin to slowly appear as if the letter is being written in real-time before your eyes.

    The letter reads thus…

Hehehe! You are receiving this letter because you have expressed interest in joining The Witch Ops Battalion! This letter is proof if your desire to become a member of The Battalion, so be sure to carry it with you to the trial! Hehehe, an important thing to remember is that just because you have the letter does not mean you are a member! To become a member, you must pass the trail, hehehe, the letter is your ticket in. That being said, hehehe, if you do pass the trial I have set before you, then you will be inducted as an official member of Grand Witch Majolica's Witch Ops Battalion! Hehehe!

As a Witch Ops initiate, hehehe, you should remember that The Witch Ops is a group of dark heroes with the goal of protecting the world! Hehehe! If this is not your intention, hehehe, you should tear this letter up because you are not welcome! Hehehe, also, I know there are many who would wish to infiltrate the Witch Ops as spies… hehehe, if a spy is found amongst the trial, or within members of The Battalion, hehehe, know you will be quickly rooted out… and disposed of…

Hehehe, now that all that stuff is out of the way, let me personally ask you, adventurer, hehehe, are you brave enough to take on The Grand Witch’s Challenge?! Hehehe! To join the Witch Ops?! To defend the world and her people as dark hero outlaws?! Hehehe… if so, hehe, keep this letter secret and meet at the coordinates given below at the time given.

Bring your courage, your willingness to defend, and your desire to become stronger than you've ever been! Hehehe! But be warned! The trials are not for the faint of heart! Hehehe…

Come then, hero! Hehehe! Come and claim your destiny! The Witch Ops awaits! Hehehehehe!”

The letter is signed in a fancy script reading.

    Grand Witch Majolica
    Witch Ops Battalion Commander

Do you accept the Grand Witch’s invitation?

Choosing to follow the given coordinates, you would eventually find yourself, as the owl had previously said, in the familiar forest of Brisshal. You may think this unusual as Brisshal Forest is a fairly well explored beginner areas. You may even have memories of the area from when you first entered Terrasphere. Perhaps you hadn't returned to the forest in quite some time, or maybe you were very familiar with the area. Either way, the fact that there could be cottage hidden somewhere in the forest seemed strange. Surely, if an all-powerful Grand Witch had a home in the forest, its location would be common knowledge wouldn't it? Even so, neither you nor anyone you may have asked knew anything about a witch's cottage in the forest.

Following the instructions written out on the letter, you would eventually come upon a seemingly normal looking cottage in the middle of a large picturesque forest clearing. Though upon first inspection the area around the cottage seems incredibly normal and mundane, if you were to look closer, strange details begin to arise.

The first thing you may notice is the cottage itself. Though upon first glance it seemed ordinary, you may realize that the angles of the walls and roof are slightly crooked or warped. The more you stare at the architecture, the more you begin to realize that it is subtly ignoring the laws of physics. Areas that should be collapsing on themselves remain stationary. Edges of the house twist uncomfortably at instable angles, and yet the cottage still stands.

Looking around the area, you may notice that though birds and small animals can typically be heard all throughout the forest, in the clearing everything is perfectly silent. There are no bird calls, not even the sound of rushing water from the nearby stream. It as if the whole area has been muted.

Suddenly, from the cottage's chimney dark black smoke beings fuming out. Obviously, there must be someone in the cottage, but looking through the windows you see no movement. A flash of purple light illuminates the cottage momentarily, then once again, nothing.

  1. Sean had been hanging out in the forests of Brisshal, just passing time. He had a lot to process, as he had both lost his interface and had a trial soon...

Oh look, a bird with a letter.

Sean slightly shuffled back as the bird dove at him and dropped the letter into his hands. Confused, Sean opened the letter and read it.

    ...

Hey, this is the trial! Sean immediately took off in the direction of the trial, dropping everything he wasn't doing.

He did not expect a random cottage. Its warped walls and roof threw him off slightly. Okay, let's go-

    BOOM!

...What. The cottage suddenly bursted with purple light. Huh, okay. Sean shrugged it off and went up to the door of the cottage, knocking before peeking in. "Yo, I'm here for the trial?"

  2. *<CRASH>*

As a window completely shattered in Kepler's 'Workplace Alpha' the young girl ducked for cover behind her workshop counter and drew her Moonraker.

    "OYO?! WHAT?! WHO?! Where?! Where?!"

Setting her sights on the bird, she paused.... and lowered her weapon.

    "Oyo~~~~?"

So it wasn't a burglar. It was an enraged owl, and it was complainin' about the pane, so to speak. The glass one.

Kepler eyed the broken glass scattered all over the floor, and holding up her hands, dramatically shook her head side to side.

"You could've knocked, ya know~? Knock next time, okay~?"

Receiving the letter, Kepler saw the owl off as it flew upward screeching curses in Oxford English.

    "Heck of a morning..."

Rubbing the back of her head, Kepler retrieved a mason jar of orange juice, cut it with water, and added two dallops of sugar for good measure. Putting on some reading glasses she didn't need for good effect, she poured over the letter. As she did so, a breeze blew through the broken window. Tilting her head, she held the pretty---but blank---postage to the morning light, and then spread it out upon the table. Just as she was about to retrieve a chemical that would reveal the most common forms of invisible ink... Words appeared.

    Kepler read them of course.

    ...
    ..
    .

Kepler shut the letter, re-creased it, and returned it to its envelope. She then placed the letter in an empty mason jar and sealed it. That, she put into her pack.

"Right! No two ways about it, it's showtime!"

Lightly slapping her cheeks, Kepler put on her gameface, it was pretty much the same smile, only her brows were slightly furrowed. By the door were her prepacked supplies, rechecking them, she nodded and marched out the door, locking it as she did so.

...Kepler did not march down the road however. Instead, she took a hard left and then another as she continued her springy march. When she came to a halt, she was before her broken window... Nodding, she promptly got to work finishing it.

NOW she was ready---------------------> (Witch Ops)

Kepler had been to the cottage before, in fact, it wasn't all that far from her workshop. So it wasn't much of a mystery getting there. What she found was a little different from expected, however. No frogs. No daylight. No peop----?

No. There was someone after all. A familiar face at that. ( @Sean Poteitoku )

"Ah~! Hay~ hay~! Over here~! Heeere~! Sean was it~? Ho there! Pleasure seeing you again~! Kepler has arrived to provide support~!"

Kepler approached the swordsman waving dramatically, she was positively glowing in ultra sharp contrast to the spooky cabin makeover.

"First to arrive? That's pretty commendable, especially considering that I'm pretty early myself. Say~ whatcha think's up with the atmosphere~? Was it like this when you arrived~? I really hope nothing pops out at my face! I'm not too good with scary movies!!!"

Squinting against the dark at the cottage, Kepler saw smoke raising from the chimney...

    "Oyo~?"

    "Gack!"

Suddenly, there was a loud crash of purple lighting causing Kepler to jump. Standing in place for a couple blinks, her cheeks slowly turned a light shade of scarlet.

"Whoop! As I was saying~ ahahaha.... scary stuff...."

  3. The Faerin was walking on a trail, prepared to take a break on Honeyhome Village, his favorite place of all. He adjusted his shield on his back, that thing was extremely heavy... And it didn't help that every ten seconds it tried to slap Hanno's head with a tentacle as it kept staring the Faerin intently with it's huge red eye.

"What's that?" Hanno frowned at the weird bird sound, and looked up trying to find it's source until he spotted an Owl that looked extremely grumpy as it drops a letter, that the Faerin grab and look at it.

The Owl idly lands on the Dissonant Shield, and start to explain:

'Ah, a Owl that speaks. Hehe, that does look something that would come from a Witch.' The Faerin thought, and when he tried to speak to the Owl, the Dissonant Shield attempted to slap it, making it dodge and fly away angrily. Hanno looked at the shield. "Can you please stop trying to hit things that get close to you?" He asked, not expecting too much from the shield.

'So the trial has begun huh' A relaxed smile appeared on Hanno's face, as he remembered the Witch. 'It's time to do my best.'

    ...

    ...

    ...
Following the coordinates, the Faerin found himself in a different forest. And even though he was expecting something different, he was still surprised, that place must have been very hard to be found... Or to be made.

"Witch's house, Witch's house~ Where you are?" Hanno said in a melodic tone while looking around, until he finally spotted a cottage that looked very cute, but as he walked closer and closer to it. It began looking weird and very twisted. Again, he was expecting something different, but he was still surprised.

He looked around, not a single sign of life could be seen or heard... Or at least he thought it at first, until he saw @Sean Poteitoku and @Kepler close to the cottage. 'Ahaha... it's that carefree dude again. And a girl that I think is famili- Oh, she is scared.' He thought seeing the girl get startled by the sudden lighting, that made the Faerin flinch a bit too.

Finally getting close to those two, the Faerin greeted them while wearing his usual chill smile. "Hello Sean! Are you fine?" He greeted his acquaintance, then turned to the girl "Hello miss, are you alright? That was a very wicked lighting." Hanno brighted his smile to the startled girl.

  4. As Madison walked through the streets of Honeyhome towards the marker on her map, a pair of heavy hands landed on her shoulders and steered her down one of the most threatening alleys in the starter village--which is to say, it was still completely illuminated by the sun overhead and in full view of anyone who cared enough to walk by. Not exactly the best place to conduct shady business at all.

The witch immediately recognized the two meat sacks that delayed her. The scowl immediately faded away to a look of mirth as the men simply looked at each other, confused.

"Jesus, you two are still upset over that game? It's been months!"

One of the two men snarled at her, "You took my daughter's college fund!"

"You're the idiot that put it up against a full house!"

A pile of bricks one would normally call a hand found its way into Madison's stomach. Her eyes bugged out of her head and the wind was knocked out of her. She collapsed to her knees, trying desperately to suck in a deep breath.

"You have until five o' clock tomorrow to give me my money back, bitch."

"Not happening," she wheezed. "It's already spent."

Out of the corner of her eye, Madison caught the sight of a boot headed towards her midsection. She rolled out of the way just in time and managed to produce a glowing card from her sleeve. A clump of vines burst from the ground, wrapping themselves around the thug's leg, yanking him to the ground.

As he cried out in surprise, the other man rushed in. Madison focused another burst of mana through the playing card. Vines erupted from the side of a nearby building, a storm of green tendrils that immediately grabbed him by his head and pulled him away from the witch.

The pair of men desperately tried to pull themselves free from their binds, scratching and clawing and tearing at the plants with no effect. Madison dusted herself off and slowly rose to her feet, her stomach aching from the one blow the pair managed to land. The pain was sharp, but nothing she couldn't handle.

The witch approached the two bastards, flicking through her deck of cards for a way to finish them off when a thought occurred to her.

For all the times I've been in Honeyhome, these guys waited until now to attack me. Maybe this is part of Majolica's trial?

The invitation to the Grand Witch's little forest tea party or whatever had arrived earlier in the week, claw-delivered by a very flustered-looking owl. Madison had been on her way to the cottage in the woods when she was waylaid by these two men. She knew that Majolica was deceptively powerful, incredibly eccentric, and awfully suspicious of her in the first place. In her mind, it wasn't much of a stretch that Majolica looked into Madison's past to see if she could spice up this trial of hers just a little bit.

Glaring at the two thugs, one pinned to the ground, the other struggling against the wall, Madison decided to play it safe. No killing, unless she absolutely had to.

With a command from her mind, the vines constricted even further, not quite crushing the leg and skull but with enough pressure to fracture a few bones. Content with the volume of their screams that echoed down the alleyway, Madison turned on her heels and resumed her journey.

    - - - - -
Several other people were already at Majolica's cabin when Madison arrived the next day.

It was a very strange sight, to be sure. Nothing about the little home made sense. Walls were standing at odd angles, defying the laws of construction and physics. It resembled a modern art installation more than anything. So, knowing what she did about the Grand Witch, Madison was not the least surprised to see this was where the young woman lived.

A crack of violet light coming from the plume of chimney smoke, startling some of the younger ones in the group. Madison simply yawned. It had been a long trek, and she was too tired for parlor tricks.

Shortly after, one of the Witch Ops hopefuls--the redhead, @Sean Poteitoku, she recalled--decided enough was enough and burst through the door to the cabin without consulting the others.

"Goddammit," Madison called after him, holding up a hand to stop him. "What are you doing, you moron? This is why you're afraid of everything! You keep doing stupid shit and getting killed for it! Get back out here!"

The witch found herself hustling towards the doorway, completely ready to ignore her own orders. Maybe this was actually part of the trial, after all? She had no idea. She was prepared for everything and nothing, all at the same time.

  5. The Queen of Childrens Cardgames, at least for this particular tavern in which she has beaten the always present cardgame NPC 100 times in succession, was enjoying a sip of tea as - suddenly - an unexpected visitor visited them!

With no window to crash through, the Owl had a simple time landing on someone's head. A bald head so polished, it could have been mistaken with a mirror. Nothing too unusual in comparison to what Charles had already witnessed in the game. No need to act surprised.

    "CAW CAW!"

Charlotte nearly spit the contents of her drink into the face of the challenger as the bird just talked!

"What's the matter, Charlotte!? Finally realized you're just a third-rate duelist with a fourth-rate deck that only won 100 consecutive times against me through sheer luck!?"

"CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW!"

The Owl left as quickly as it came, dropping off a letter mid-flight in front of Charles table and— "Oy, did that bird just shite on my perfectly bald head?!" Some love for the baldy.

"Did that bird just drop you a le- THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT! Draw your last pathetic card so I can finish you off, Charlotte!"

Right. Priorities. Charlotte nodded. She would check the letter in a second. "My deck has no pathetic cards, Cardgame-guy-whose-name-I-never-bothered-asking!" Charlotte drew her next card. There was no denying. She was in a really bad spot, yet, there was still a chance to win if only...

"BUT IT HAS THIS!" The woman declared her victory. "I play King Astor in attack mode and one card face down.""Hah! Your bluff won't work on me. That weak creature doesn't stand a chance against my Queen of Terror: Arachna! ARACHNA! OBLITERATE!""I activate my trap card: Astor's Cat Harem - REVENGE MODE! For each Catgirl-type Monster on the graveyard, boost King Astor's Attack by 1000! Putting him way above Arachna and enough power to defeat you! KING ASTOR! TAKE YOUR REVENGE! CHARLOTTE CRUSH!""NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......."

And with that done, Charles could finally read the letter and, oh right, that thing. Totally forgot about it. It was probably still fun, right? With her title defended, for now, Charlotte went on her merry way.

    ...
    ...
    ...

It took a while, a really long while, to find the place. Most likely because nobody really bothered knowing the self-proclaimed Witch Ops, which put so much more doubt into her mind, or maybe it was really secret! Either way, as Charlotte entered the clearing she could see quite a few familiar faces. Her fellow allies. Just great.

Charles hadn't really spoken to any of them but... that was really really sad to not socialize earlier was alright, right? Charlotte played this game to have fun and not to find virtual friends. Ewh. Happily stepping closer as she watched the commotion at the door the white-hair waved her hand. "Hai~ Hai~! C-"

    BOOM.

A purple... flash? Mysterious! "Charles has arrived." Yup, today she was actually in quite a good mood. "Some wise person once told me if you're in doubt, just do it!... He died pretty young thou." But hey, it was the red-head arguing(?) with the raven-haired girl in front of the already open(?) door! So whatever could go wrong, it would not put her in danger.

  6. In the water, most likely. Suda liked spending his time in the water. Why not? So many other creatures to explore and its cool and refreshing, relaxing as well. Little did he know his time in the water was about to be interrupted.

Suda had rested himself on the same rock the same rock that he had put his undershirt and jacket on. He took a deep breath and looked up, seeming to find a bird flying towards him. "Huh, cool bird." The bird flew overhead and dropped on the same rock Suda was resting on.The bird had dropped the paper it had in its talon.

Suda flinched at the bird and its somewhat annoying cawing. He could understand the bird fine (took him some time but he got it) but over time he got bored and read the letter.

"Witch Ops, huh? Better get on my way then." Suda got up from the rock he was sitting on, put on his undershirt and jacket, folded up the paper, and got on his way.

After some time of long walking, Suda had made it to the cottage / waypoint that he was told to go to. He saw some of the same people he had seen earlier. And the architecture? So strange that Suda had to tilt his head and the cottage still looked irregular. Then the cottage exploded with purple light, adding to the noise that was already getting annoying. It was probably about to get worse and worse from here.

    "pfft-"

Watching the antics of the Witch and The Warrior, Kepler couldn't help but burst out laughing. Her voice resonated like a tinkling bell.

    "ahhh~ I feel better~"

Wiping a tear from her eye, she turned to the hobbit lugging around their very own personal Eye of Sauron.

I guess walking -into- Mordor's a problem, but not so much walking around -with- it.

    Kepler smiled.

"Totally wicked! And Foreboding too~! Frannnnkly~ I can't say i'm all that fond of the setting but well... tests aren't supposed to be fun, right? Thinking from that perspective----Well, I guess I'd better shape up. I'm Kepler by the way, and I think with you along, I'll have just a little less to worry about. Would it be alright if I depend on you just a little~?"

    Kepler winked.

    "That's a pretty metal shield after all----and I don't mean its material composition~"

Hearing a new girl approach, Kepler turned with a giggle.

"Well~ I guess the operative question would be whether or not they came back to life afterward, yeah~? Ahaha~ I may sound like a broken record at this point, but I'm Kepler~ It's a pleasure to meet you Charles. Let's knock this test outta the stadium."

  8. The Faerin smiled at the laugh of the girl, seeing people laughing was always a good thing. And apparently they weren't that startled anymore. He looked at the people that were around, there was probably more of them to come... But still, those that were there would probably be his future guildmates. 'I hope we all do well.' Hanno thought with a relaxed smile.

He should start to get know them, before the Grand Witch appeared and the test start- No, the test already have started. But in any case, why not getting to know a little more of his probably future allies? As soon as he considered it, the enthusiastic girl talked to him.

'Depending on me?' Hanno chuckled a bit and the Shield's tentacle curled abit. "I think it liked the compliment, thanks!" He pointed at the shield. "And what was that about? If we are going to be guildmates eventually, we need to depend on each other, right? So yeah." The Faerin nodded to himself, that was the kind of mentality he needed after getting through that post-death breakdown. There's no need to someone fight alone.

"Anyway, nice to meet you, Kepler. I am Futaba, Hanno Futaba. Let's do our best on this test, so we can fight together on future." Hanno gave a grin. 'If everybody here is as enthusiastic as this girl, I don't doubt we all can pass on this test!' He thought.

    @Kepler

  9. Having received the summons from @Grand Witch Majolica a little earlier than expected, of course Luna was going to attend. And attend she did. Well, attend she did after a few moments of wandering around in the general location because dang it, she wasn't any good at reading maps okay!? It wasn't like anybody had gone out of their way to find her and she'd only figured out where to go by having her tigress friend Natiri sniff out people, for whatever good that might've done.

Hey, maybe the start of the trial was actually getting to the location? Probably not, but she could dream for things like that, couldn't she? It wasn't wrong to carry hope inside of the heart, after all.

But here she was, about as prepared as she could be without any real knowledge of what the test would be, seeing way more people than she'd expected to be here. Huh, it seemed this Witch Ops wasn't as small as she'd first thought them to be. That was good, more members meant more fun and more opportunities to learn from each other and help each other grow, assuming more people passed than failed.

In particular, a familiar face, or head of hair really, caught her attention. It seemed that @Madison Freebird was here and was busy trying to stop some redhead guy from rushing into a potentially dangerous and trapped building. Though, she really had no clue what the whole thing about being scared of stuff was about.

Then, something occurred to her. If this was anything like the games, books and cartoons, then it was entirely possible. She swallowed for a minute, before speaking up. "Uh, h-hi everybody. I-it occurs to me t-that the trial might've already started technically." Unless she'd missed some sort of debriefing, that is. She crouched slightly to pet Natiri behind the ears, the white tigress chuffing slightly.

  10. After the owl delivered the letter to her Rias has been extremely hype to go to the location drawn on the paper. "I should grab something to eat? Or potions...what if they will make us drop all of our things...survive with nothing but our bare hands!" the archer already filled her head with a survival game which obviously wasn't stated anywhere to give her that kind of idea. "Ah...I'll just get what's in my bag." her hands reached over to examine her inventory checking for anything useful she had but the only rare items were the pets she got from the previous WB. "I'll get one with me then on the adventure, hopefully they won't burn everyhing!"

    - - - - - -

There was a path leading inside the forest, pass the trees and bushes. Supposedly there should be located the cottage and the area where the trial would happen, the challenges might need a big area for them so it made sense why they were leaded so far away from the actual town and villages. Weirdly enough the structure of the building didn't surprise her...I mean it was the witches property so everything about it had its spice!
"What do you think about this place...?" Rias asked turning to face her Mini Volcanic Maiden who seemed rather uninterested in her words. "Good...? Yes? No?... okay then ..." awkwardly turning back she was surprised seeing the dark smoke coming out of the chimney but no movement. "Nice...totally not creepy." she muttered coming closer.

  11. Witch Ops Trial Part 1: Interview

    • One post, 800 words Maximum.
    • In this portion of the thread, players can only interact with Majolica.
      • You may ask any and all questions you have concerning Witch Ops and Majolica will answer.

Now that all the Witch Ops hopefuls had arrived the sounds of them conversing, and in some cases shouting, reverberated through the clearing easing the sense of foreboding of the muted area.

Anyone who decided to explore the cottage would find it destitute. A small fire blazed in the fireplace. A desk and a bed lined the wall while a square table stood was set up off to the side by the kitchen. Everything in the cottage was neat and tidy. In fact it was so neat, it looked more like a hotel room prepared for visitors than somewhere a person actually lived.

As the group waited, minutes ticked by with no sign of Grand Witch Majolica. Moreover, not even a single Witch Frog, like the kind that had set up the stand and passed out fliers at the sign up, could be seen. Logically, Majolica must have meant to actually recruit individuals into the witch op ranks, or else why would she had led them into the same area together? Truthfully, why else would they all be there, each with their own letter if she hadn't decided to run a second Witch Ops trial?

Minutes rolled by. Now the group had been waiting on Majolica for nearly an hour. By now, it was possible that some of the adventures could have began to think that Majolica wasn't coming. Maybe she had forgot? Maybe she had slept in? Was this actually a trap? It wasn't a prank because The Witch Ops was a real group, but where was Majolica?

Throughout the entirety of the waiting, things remained silent in the area save for the adventurers. The eerie purple light that had flashed inside the cottage hadn't gone off again. Just as everything seemed to be completely pointless, and maybe some of the adventurers were thinking they should just leave, a far off sound rang out.

It was quiet at first. Like something barely within your hearing range. It was impossible to tell the direction, but the sound was slowly getting louder.

    "He..."

As the sound closed in it became apparent that it was coming from all directions. The closer the sound became, the more it began to distort into a dreadful maniacal dissonance with all the gravity of a freight train charging towards the group. Some of the adventurer's may have looked around anxiously, still, it was only sound. Nothing else stirred. There was no person running towards them. No broomstick in the sky. Nothing. Just...

    "Hehe..."

Suddenly, the fire that had been burning in cottage's fireplace exploded upwards. The orange of the fire light momentarily flashing purple, then as quickly as did the flames died leaving no embers only soot... and smoke. The smoke was heavy like thick black smog and began billowing out of the chimney and the fireplace itself. Even with the fire gone it did not cease. More and more it fumed out of cottage. It's thickness began to blanket the sky and wrap around each adventure. Though the smoke could be breathed in without choking, each adventurers field of vision began to become shrouded. If any adventures attempted to call out to each other, they would find that they could hear each other's voices, but find nothing. Grasping hands would only find more smoke, and all voices were quickly beginning to muffle.

Moments later, each adventurer would find themselves completely enveloped in the darkness. It surrounded and cloistered each individual like a suffocating wall. If any of the adventurers were to call out now, they would receive no reply. If any of them tried to walk through the darkness they would find all sense of direction lost. Compasses or any other navigational tool or ability would only go haywire, if they could even be seen through the billowing dark. For all intents and purposes, each of the adventurers was trapped in a coffin-like world of wisping smoke and shadow. Whether each adventurer decided to try and traverse the darkness or chose to remain still, the result remained the same.

Within the swirling shadows, the only thing that each adventurer could hear was the sound of their own breath, and the beating of their own heart. As seconds sped by, suddenly each adventurer hears a "click" like fingers snapping. A blindingly bright light shines down on each of them. The darkness recedes but remains circling around them like walls.

    Then, from beyond the darkness...

A familiar Grand Witch's outline could be made out at the edges of your vision. Then getting as she got closer, she came into the light. Here was Majolica, sitting on her broom and waving happily at you.

"Hehehe! Well, it looks like you made it, Sean. Hehe, in case you forgot, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, how'd you like the show? Pretty fun, huh? Hehehe! This shadow prison type thing is a pretty good trick isn't it? Hehehe, it's a good way to interrogate people for information, hehe, not that I'm going to do that to you! Hehehe! Well anyway, let's see what we've got here, hehe.

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, so my notes say here that you're a swordsman that uses fire magic with an acrobatic combat style? Hehehe, sound about right? Hehehe, well that's great! Hehe, right now the Witch Ops could use some more front liners! Hehe, the type of people that can flip up walls to take out an archer, or go toe to toe with a bunch of people to take them all out quickly! Hehe, that kind of thing! From the looks of it, hehehe, you modeled your skills after a hero-archetype right? A well balanced agile fighter? Hehehehe, we always have room for those! Hehehehe."

The Grand Witch put up her notebook and clapped her hands excitedly.

"Perfect! Now, let's get down to business! Hehehe. The actual stage one part the trial begins.... Now!"

Majolica cleared her throat and tried to look important.

"Hehe, welcome to stage one of the Witch Ops initiation. This part of the initiation is an interview, hehehe. But, you'll be interviewing me! Hehehe, so if you have any thoughts, questions, or comments about The Witch Ops Battalion, what we stand for, how we operate, what we can do for you, why I created the team, who I am, what you get when you become a member, hehehe, or really anything now's the time to ask! Hehehehe! This is a one time thing, so before going through the trial you should make sure you know exactly everything you need to know! Hehehe, it's good to know what exactly it is you're getting into! So... go! Hehehe, ask me any and all questions your heart desires!"

A familiar Grand Witch's outline could be made out at the edges of your vision. Then getting as she got closer, she came into the light. Here was Majolica, sitting on her broom and waving happily at you.

"Hehehe! Hello there, Charlotte. Or do you call yourself, Charles? Hehehe! In either case, hehehe, and in case you forgot, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, how'd you like my fun little trick? Pretty fun, huh? Hehehe! Witch Ops members have to stay on their toes you know! Hehehe! Well anyway..."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Let's take a look at my notes on you! Hehehe! So, here I wrote down you're main talents are strength, experience with cleaving weapons, and you fight using a sort of parrying style. Hehehe, sound correct? Hehehe, I also wrote down that you seem like you could be a bit of a loose cannon. Hehehe, that's fine as long as it's directed at the enemy and not nice, good, friendly people that haven't hurt anyone or do anything wrong! Hehehe!"

Crossing her arms as she thought, Majolica suddenly came to a realization.

"Hehehe, you know something? Hehe, I don't see a lot of people that use cleaving weapons that often! I think axes are cool, hehehe, maybe a bit violent though, but still, Hehehe, you don't see a lot of people using them. And guess what, hehe, we definitely don't have one on the team! Hehehe, that makes you pretty unique!"

Majolica held out her hand in a thumbs up with a smile, then The Grand Witch put up her notebook and clapped her hands excitedly.

A familiar Grand Witch's outline could be made out at the edges of your vision. Then getting as she got closer, she came into the light. Here was Majolica, sitting on her broom and waving happily at you.

"Hehehe! So you actually came, Goblin Bandit Gardner Madison! Hehehehe, and before you say anything, I'll keep calling you that until you pass the trial! Hehehe, after you pass you get a non-goblin name! Hehehe, so work hard for your new title! Hehehehe! Anyway, I don't think introductions are necessary, but to keep things in order I'll go anyway. Hehehe, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, did my show scare you! Hehe, I bet it did. No lies now! Hehehe! Well, let's see what we've got here, hehe."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, so let's see what my research says about Ms. Goblin Bandit Gardner... let's see, a black magic user, huh? Hehehe, were you trying to copy me? Hehe, relax I'm joking. What else... illusion magic and summoning magic. So you were trying to copy me... hehehe. Do you actually really like me and think I'm cool? Hehehe, are you always angry because secretly you've always wanted to be my friend? Hehehehe. You don't have to answer that. It'll be our little secret. Okay, what else. Nature magic? Hehehe, you know, that's really popular? Hehehe, Guide and Rated R are both nature magic users too! Hehehe, they're working with a tutor, hehe, a master nature magic user to get even stronger. If you pass the trial, hehehe, maybe I'll tell them to teach you some things they learned? Hehehehe and if you're really good and say please, maybe I'll even teach you some of my black magic... hehehe. You have to be good though! If you use it for evil, I'll come for you... hehehehe...."

The Grand Witch put up her notebook and clapped her hands excitedly.

"Perfect! Now, let's get down to business! Hehehe. The actual stage one part the trial begins.... Now!"

Majolica cleared her throat and tried to look important.

"Hehehe! Welcome! I'm glad you made it, Luna! Hehehe! I'm sure you didn't forget, but just in case you did, hehe, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, how did you like my show? Spooky right? Hehehe, Witch Ops members have to be on their toes at all times! Hehe, you never know when a bad guy could show up! Hehehe, okay, let's see what we've got here, hehe..."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, so in my notes here, it says you're already very strong! Hehehe, so you're a master beast hunter, and are a beast kin! Hehehe, very impressive! If you make it through the trial, this would make you one of the strongest Witch Ops members! Hehehe, usually the people that join are newer and looking to build themselves up, hehehe, but this works too! If you make it through, maybe you can help people learn beast taming! Hehehe, but remember even if you're strong, you can always get stronger! Hehehe. It looks like you're a nature magic user too. Hehe, that makes sense with the beast mastery, and we also have a lot I also wrote down that you're very good with arcane magic, and also good with acrobatics and cleaving weapons. Hehehe, the whole package huh? Hehehe!"

Majolica winked, threw Luna a thumbs up, put up her notebook, and clapped her hands excitedly.

"Perfect! Now, let's get down to business! Hehehe. The actual stage one part the trial begins.... Now!"

Majolica cleared her throat and tried to look important.

"Hehehe! Welcome Ms. Mad Scientist! I'm glad you made it! Hehehe! You better do well on this test, hehe, I'm really looking forward to having more gadets and weapons of mass destruction around! Hehehehe, which is why if you pass I'm planning on building you a lab with some Witch Frogs to help you with your work! Hehehe, well I know you probably didn't forget who I was, but just in case you did, hehe, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, hand also creator of the spooky display of awesome power you just saw! Hehehe, neat right! It was maaagic!"

Majolica wiggled her fingers at Kepler.

"Okay, let's see what we've got here, hehe..."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, so I wrote down here that you're a scientist and an inventor. Hehehe, good! I need more gadgets and neat technology things for the Witch Ops! Hehehe, it also says you use arcanamancy and resort to a parry style of combat if you have to! Hehehe, I've also heard that you made some type of car vehicle. Hehehe, I want one! Not for me, I have my broom, but an armored tank would be neat for everyone to ride around it! Hehehehe, also fun robots that I can control! Hehehehe, that way I don't always have to use clones! But clones are fun so I don't really mind, hehe. Perfect!

"Hehehe! Glad you could make it, Rias! Hehehe, I had a good feeling about you from the first time I didn't notice you, then noticed you in Ivan's Curry House! Hehehe, someone with the ability to blend in like that is sorely needed in the Witch Ops! Hehehe, everyone now tends to stand out a bit in way or another. Hehehe, it's fine though. As long as they job gets done the tactics are up in the air right! Hehehe! I'm sure you didn't, but just in case you forgot, hehe, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, hand also creator of the spooky display of awesome power you just saw! Hehehe, were you scared? Hehehe, it's fine if you were. It was pretty spooky, hehehe! Okay, let's see what we've got here, hehe..."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, let's look at some of the notes I took. Here it says, that you you have skills as a hunter and ranged weapons user. Hehehe, perfect! We don't have anyone that uses any kind of ranged weapon in the Witch Ops! Having you would really round out the team... hehehe, if you pass I mean. Don't forget you actually have to finish the trial to join The Ops! Hehehe, but with your and everybody else's skills I'm sure it will turn out fine. Hehehe. Just keep on shooting at whatever problems come up, right? Hehehehe! Perfect! Now, let's get down to business! Hehehe. The actual stage one part the trial begins.... Now! "

Majolica cleared her throat and tried to look important.

"Hehe, welcome to stage one of the Witch Ops initiation. This part of the initiation is an interview, hehehe. But, you'll be interviewing me! "Hehehe! Welcome to the trial, Suda! Hehehe, I'm glad you could make it! By the way, in case you forgot, hehehe but I'm sure you didn't, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, wasn't my neat little show earlier cool? Hehehe, I wanted it to be spooky with all the smoke and everything! Hehehe, Witch Ops members have to be on their toes, you know? Hehehe! Okay, let's see what we've got here, hehe..."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, so here it my notes I wrote down that you're skills include slashing weapons, berserk, and hydromancy! Hehehe, say, do you know Sean? Hehehe, it seems like the two of you are opposites? Maybe you could be a neat fire and ice team? Hehehe! But I think it's good to have an ice user, since we don't have one and it's very practical. Hehehe, I also like how you took berserk! Sometimes you just have to get mad and go all out an a bad guy, right? Hehehe! I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do later in the trail! Be sure to show me some neat uses of ice magic! Hehehe, people with ice can be pretty creative with it after all, heheh! Like making things objects out of ice as barriers, or making walls that you use to do cool jumping attacks! Or even making icicles shoot up from the ground! Hehehehe or maybe you like enchanting your sword with ice more? Hehehe, I guess I'll just have to wait and see! Perfect! Now, let's get down to business! Hehehe. The actual stage one part the trial begins.... Now!"

Majolica cleared her throat and tried to look important.

"Hehehe! I'm glad you could make it, Hanno! Hehehe, I was hoping that you wouldn't get lost! Hehehe, the Witch Ops could really use a team like you and your shield out on the front lines! Hehehehe! I'm sure you didn't, but just in case you forgot, I am Grand Witch Majolica! Hehe, creator and commander of the Witch Ops! Hehehehe, wasn't my neat little show earlier cool? Hehehe, I wanted it to be spooky to make sure everyone was on their toes and ready! Hehehe, when you're protecting the world from evil, you can never be to careful! Hehehe something bad might be just around the corner! Hehe, so you have to be vigiliant! Okay, let's see what we've got here, hehe..."

Majolica reached behind her and pulled out a familiar looking notebook.

"Hehehe, I made sure to take notes on everyone that decided to take the trial, so let's see what I wrote down about you! Hehehe, so it says here you use a shield. Hehehe, well that's pretty obvious. It's hard to miss! Hehehe. What else... oh, here we go. You use white magic and heroic might? Hehehe, you're aiming to be a real iron wall, huh? Hehehe if you pass the trial, maybe I'll have you train with Titan and Guillotine Priest. Titan is our current go-to defender, and Guillotine Priest is a master of white magic. I think you could learn some things from them, hehehe, then incorporate that into your own skills and tactics! Hehehe, needless to say, if you get through the test, I'm sure you'll become an important and valuable member of The Witch Ops Battalion! Hehehe! Perfect!

12. Sean had started to grow impatient. Where was the recruiter? It's been probably an hour alread...

Suddenly, fire everywhere. Sean stumbled back, caught by surprise by the flames. "WHAT THE HELL!?" He looked around but saw nobody. Be strong... "I know you're there!" He tried to get the one responsible behind the magic out of their hiding spot.

Everything turned dark. Sean looked around, noticing the recruiter's outline. "You did that, right?" He stretched. "Took you long enough to get here, I was starting to get impatient."

The recruiter came out of the darkness and waved. Sean listened to the first part of their little speech intently. When they were finished, Sean shrugged. "Let's get on with the trial."

As he listened to the second part of the speech, he picked up on certain words, like "hero". After the second part was over, Sean's face formed into a smirk. "Well, I'm glad there's use for my abilities. I actually modeled them after a character from an anime I once watched, Aiz Wallenstein. I basically have the same set, but with fire magic while she uses wind magic."

Sean was starting to get impatient by the third part of the speech, spacing out for most of it and only hearing "questions". Immediately, Sean spat out a question. "Do I get a cool nickname? That's all I need, knowing that the people have somebody on their side is enough for me... I just really want a nickname... Also the fact that I've also been alone for most of my life... Anyways, that's about all the questions I have. Oh wait, will I get a place to stay? I haven't found somewhere yet... And how much will not having an interface affect the trial?"

  13. 'This is taking a while.' Hanno opened his UI to see the time, it has already passed a long time. 'Could it be that something happened to Majolica?' He considered, but kind of doubted it, the witch was probably just a little late so he remained patient talking to the enthusiastic girl or to anyone that greeted him.

Until suddenly a sound began to appear, getting louder and louder. Something was happening?! The Faerin wielded his great shield just in case, it would be bad if someone made a trap and just lured them into that place. He looked around seeing that everyone was probably as startled as him, making his fist clench tightly against the shield, something was off and it was obvious.

Then, an explosion happened and Hanno tried to jump toward Kepler with the shield pointed at the direction of the flames in an attempt to protect her, but before he could reach her, the smoke engulfed everyone in the room and the Faerin passed through where the girl would be... 'What?' The girl wasn't there anymore? "Kepler! Sean! Can you guys hear me?" He called for them, but no one responded. 'Damn it, is it part of the test or...'

Everything was dark. Nothing could be seen, except for the red eye of the shield, that curled it's tentacles instinctively toward the finger snapping sound. Hanno stared at the source of the sound and seeing the bright lights, he shielded his eyes from it. And when he uncovered his eyes, a familiar face could be seen. It was @Grand Witch Majolica.

A relief sigh came from the Faerin, that meant it was just part of the test, the others weren't in danger. Seeing it was just the witch, he placed the shield on his back again giving a small greeting bow. 'Little show? That sure wasn't little.' He thought to himself, but for some reason hearing the kind-of-hilarious and honest voice of Majolica made his relaxed smile come back to his face.

The Faerin stared at the witch as he paid close attention to all her speech. To hear everything she was saying, there was only one word that could describe it. 'Incredible... How does she know that?' It was like she could know everything about him, she didn't get anything wrong. 'An iron wall... heh.' He liked the sound of that, it fitted perfectly with what he wanted to be. A wall that would stand and protect everyone that needed to hide behind it.

Now she wanted to know if he had any question, being honest he didn't have too much to ask, because most of the questions he cared about were answered when he applied to join.

"Well, it's nice to see you again, Grand Witch- Uh, can I just call you Majolica?" He gave a chill smile. "I'm not much into that formal stuff, if you don't mind of course." Hanno chuckled and continued: "Your neat show was really good, it felt like something was really wrong, you made me feel a little worried about the others though." He said while scratching his head with a slight embarrassment, to think he was tricked.

"But that aside, most of the questions I had were answered when I tried to apply. So this question is just to confirm what I already know: The Witch Ops Battalion is a group whose goal is to protect the innocent, defeat the evil and do heroic deeds for the greater good, and by joining this group I will become a better hero, by the side of allies that eventually aren't going to be simple allies, but instead are going to be my trustful friends?" The Faerin asked, still maintaining a chill smile.

"Because If the answer for this question is yes..." His eyes opened a bit more than usual, giving a rare sight of his emerald green eyes, that were filled with determination. "... Then I'm ready to become the iron wall that will do it's best to protect his friends. And my only question now will be: When do we start?"

'I will do my best, that's a chance that I will have to improve myself to become a worth hero, and I won't let it go so easily!'

  14. The darkness definitely scared her for a little bit especially when she would reach in and grab nothing or end up nowhere. She stayed at the same spot and place no matter where she turned and walked, no matter what she said or shouted Rias never got a reply. Her head continued to turn around every now and then before the heard the click. From then on appeared the light giving her hopes that something will happen and rescue her. That's when the witch came into view with her broom waving happily at the archer.
"Miss...you sure took your sweet time? Was that a mini trial to test our patience or something?" She asked making a small joke as she approached Majolika a little bit closer to keep a friendly distance between them. Listening to her words when the witch started talking Rias nodded in agreement to what she was saying, giving her the sign to continue while she basically explained the rules of the first trial. "Question? What I want to know about the Witch Ops...huh?"

A few seconds went by as Rias tried to collect all of her questions in one speech and organise them properly so her words won't be all over the place and end up confusing both females. "Alright. I am ready. :

~ Question number. Two. When was it created and why...? Obviously the reason is there, to fight evil, protect the people but aren't there factions with the same goal? So what made you create something additional and how is it different?

~ Question number. Three. After becoming a member is there anything you gain? Additional buffs or stats?

~ Question number. Four. Lastly...why dark heroes? Why a name that makes it seem like we're are the bad guys? Or at least that's is what I think when I hear that title...
Note...I do know I skipped the first question but it will be something I'll have to ask later. If that is alright with you..." placing her hands together Rias nodded satisfied since she was able to phrase her question in the right row and understandable way.
