Personality
Jin’s personality is not an unpleasant one, per se, but rather more of an apathetic, antisocial one. There’s no sugarcoating it, but he just doesn’t feel empathy for the suffering and pain of others around him, nor does he particularly care about what others think about him. He could watch a man die in front of his eyes and still take a bite out of a sandwich like it was nothing more than a cockroach being squashed. He could take a ton of verbal abuse and shrug it off like a nonchalant comment, much to the confusion and chagrin of those that would seek to defame him.
Apart from the evident pseudo-sociopathic tendencies he displays, Jin is actually an extremely laid-back person, disliking stress and excessive working over all else. Though he may lack any sense of tact, he still manages to have a well-reputed sense of dry and dark humour, complementing his coldness towards empathy.
As Daedalus, his personality takes a full 180 degree revolution; he’s constantly cheerful, optimistic and always ready to crack a joke, lend a hand and make someone’s day brighter somehow. In other words, he’s the very face of a lovable support-type character. Even in the face of extreme adversity and impossible odds, his favourite quote is still “Don’t tell me the odds!”
A few traits of his real personality still linger though, albeit diminished slightly, traits that even a false face and digital body can’t hide; he still never takes opinions to heart, remains slightly morally deficit, and often makes dark jokes at the worst of times. However, most of the time nobody really takes these seriously on account of his overall jovial behaviour, and Jin intends to keep it that way.
Positive: Jin: Realistic, discreet, adaptable. Daedalus: Optimistic, confident, helpful.
Negative: Jin: Amoral, apathetic, antisocial. Daedalus: Tactless, uncaring, unrealistic.
Biography
Never really one destined for great things, Jin always knew what his life would become; he was born, one in many billions, would live his life out, and then die and be forgotten, like many of billions, and that was if things went relatively well. His parents constantly tried to push him to do better, first with bargains, then with pleas, then with threats, and finally...they just gave up. That suited him just fine.
He cruised through his schooling career , scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel, and decided to half-ass college as well, skipping every one in three lectures and only learning the minimum of what was required to succeed. As of now? He’s slowly progressing down the slippery slope of becoming a total NEET. Having job-hopped unsuccessfully for the past few months, receiving news of his parents’ deaths in an unprecedented truck accident has had curiously little impact on him. That’s how far down the rabbit-hole he’s gone.
One day, while browsing through the sea of rejection emails like always, Jin stumbled upon the single, short message that would change his life. Terrasphere.
At first, he dismissed it as some kind of spammy con email, and threw it in the trash, but never deleted it. Somehow, in the back of his mind, this email was meant for greater purposes later, just not now. And so it sat there for a whole week as Jin continued to crawl through his bleary existence. All the while, curiosity continued to gnaw away at Jin’s mind...until he finally gave in and researched what exactly Terrasphere was.
As they all say, “Curiosity killed the cat”. But the second half of that old adage, many have never heard before. “Curiosity killed the cat...but satisfaction brought it back.” And so, Jin found himself questioning what he would do if, say, he just so happened to install this thing…
The answer was escape. No more fruitless days of sifting through wanted ads without avail, no more long nights of insomnia and crying himself to sleep...Terrasphere was his new life. His new grand escape. One where he could be all he ever wanted to be: useful to someone.
