Hector is in many ways, someone who adores attention and puts effort into commanding it in whatever ways he can - he enjoys dramatic flourishes in his words and actions. There's at least one time where he'll go out of his way to wave Prince's pipe around as a show of pride. Beneath that, however, what he craves is the wind blowing in his hair. Hector desires freedom and if offered the recognition and fame of the world on one hand and to vanish as an unknown but free spirit in the other, he would rather choose the life of a vagabond in a heartbeat.

Biography
Hector didn't grow up with much to his name, but what he did have was the rooftops of his hometown and an internet connection at his abuela's house, near San Antonio but easily reached from his borderland home. Much of his youth was spent searching up new places and tricks to pull, discovering a passion for running in addition to finding a love of rougish heroes due to his father's own nightly tellings of the stories of Zorro.
With his eagerness and oddly natural talent as a runner, Hector soared as a track star and was even able to achieve something that gave him a better future - a full ride athletics scholarship to a college in the UT system. He wanted to try and reach for the stars with his talents, even though his studies were meager he took up studies into literature and history. It was something he loved, so even though he wasn't academically up to snuff he took to it like a fish to water.
However, one day, a disaster struck. While he had been pushing himself further than normal, Hector had taken up using his freerunning on the university grounds. But because of construction that had been going on during his attendance, he became too reckless...taking dangerous runs over and through the fences. One mistake - a caught leg in the fence - and the cracking of bone sealed his fate. Unable to run and unable to continue his studies until the situation around his injury had cleared up, he was consigned to living with his relatives until something was to be found for him. He's in a liminal part of his life, feeling lost and confused. All he had known was the wind in his hair and the pumping of his blood.
He currently lives with his grandmother, working at a sports equipment store to try to help her out in whatever ways he can - food, energy bills - but he used what savings he had to purchase the one way he could relive his dreams of running. Virtual reality set, where even with his aching and stiff and broken body he could run - and in many ways, he integrated this thirst with a thirst to play out the part of the heroes who lived outside of the law he studied and consumed with aplomb. But the limitations of the above-the-board games grated at him - he felt the virtual, not the reality.
So it was just his luck he was allowed into the one adventure that'd let him really feel his heart race.
