  1. "This... is the place?" Seigi wondered. It looked so mundane. Well except for— "Yes, it's right down there this hole!"— the giant tree that was uprooted, revealing something akin to a cave entrance. "Well then, let's go?!" Seigi looked at her guide: a faceless Explorer's League mook.

It was a task that sounded like fun. Nice and easy. Some gal, named Nora or something, had given a request to explore apparent ancient ruins that just got recently discovered right here, right now! Apparently, they tried on their own but, whoever they had sent in, they never heard back from. Yet, they weren't exciting enough for Nora herself to appear, huh? Either way, it was now a heroes job. Seigi's job.

"The other Immortal should arrive any second." The faceless unimportant character kept Seigi in check. Yeah, she wasn't allowed to do this alone. In fact, recently, there were a lot of things she wasn't allowed to do alone. Kinda annoying.

    Just...

Not to mention that, recently, Seigi had gotten more and more headaches! Maybe she was actually super ill? But this was certainly the wrong time to be ill! They had so much to after the damage Titania had done, including removing potential threats like this one. "Yeah, yeah, alright. I wait, and then we do some JUSTICE."

The mook sharpened his tongue. "People, my FRIENDS, possibly died! How d-... Sigh Nevermind. For the record: It will just be you and the other Immortal. Her name was Lady...N(?). She'll be in charge of you two. According to Nora's instructions anyway." Yup, it certainly helped that @Lady N dealt with the self-proclaimed blonde 'Genius' before. In fact, unlike Seigi, the Lady N was also perfectly aware that these ruins here had to do with the so-called (Lost) Arcadia.

"You're WRONG!" Not about the leading part. "NOBODY died. You'll see, we rescue em and in a few months it's just going to be a fun story you can tell each other." Whatever happened to the 'missing people', Seigi would refuse more death.

For now, however, it was a simple waiting game.

  2. img Nora the Explorer.

That lady and her stupid annoying pet of which Chelsea had completely forgotten the name of, was one of the more annoying NPC in the game. She had led Chelsea and a group of others through one death trap after another in search of ancient technology. In the end very little was found and it even looked like they had only scratched the surface of the Lost Arcadia... that actually wasn't lost anymore was it?

Unfortunately the journey up 'Oracle Mountain' had said that Nora might lead to something worth investing time into. So Chelsea reluctantly made contact with her again. Only to find herself sent here to take charge of a small expedition of sorts with a yet unnamed partner.

So...basically Lost Arcadia minus the four or so other people getting in the way? Not a terrible deal. Chelsea was still very under powered and still had not put that much time into this world to grow. It just was not that important. Until recently when the connected dots started to show just how involved Terrapshere might be with her own personal quest.

Now it was becoming more important to become a force to be reckoned with here. Thus she went for this. Following some faceless mook. She could swear it actually said that when she investigation mode'd them.Sometimes it felt like this game was just trying to troll her with that perv candy shop and now this...

And so Lady N would come face to face with...

Some girl that had annoying all over her face.

It was a very recognizable kind of annoying too, for many reasons, but Chelsea couldn't exactly place it. Flipping back her ever present scarf she wore in game. Chelsea folded her arms and coolly introduced herself.

"I am Lady N. The Mysterious Lady N to you, hmphf! I am only here for the ancient knowledge this place might offer. So don't get in my way... hmmm..."

She analyzed the orange haired girl carefully with her amethyst eyes. A eyebrow raised and finally she remembered... that girl with the rocket fist? The one that fell besides her to meager goblin? Yeesh... hopefully she didn't see her own death and died first. There was something else familiar about her as well...but..

"I think we've met before. ..Rugome?"

Oh no, why did she even... it would have been better to just not remember and get this going but noooo, Chelsea had to be curious and ask. Sometimes she even pissed herself off. Boo.

    @Seigi

  3. Seigi waited and waited, and waited until finally, someone else came along. It didn't take that long, really, in fact. Just like thirty seconds? Unlike Seigi however, this girl didn't even need an escort to this place.

"Lady... N." The faceless henchmen greeted the raven-haired girl.
"Lady N?" Now that Seigi heard it again and again, it was truly such a weird name! "Lady... N?" She repeated. Truly, a weird name. What were they supposed to call her? Just lady? Just N? Nein?

Either way, before Seigi could think too much about it, @Lady N continued. Rugome Fort. Right. Right! Of course! "Oh... wow!" A chance encounter. They barely talked. "That's totally super duper long ago!" For a second, Seigi looked a bit sad. Back then everything was easier. "You died too, right? Hah. Just recently, I beat that Goblin up real good! Soooo how have you been?"

In that moment, the faceless escort cleared his throat. "Please. You aren't here on a field trip. Now if you would follow me down.""Eh, sure. I am Seigi Ling Ling, if you forgot!" With that, the three of them went down a set of spiral stairs called forth through some mix of Geo- and Naturamancy.

It wasn't too deep of a hole in the ground. Not at all. Maybe 20 meters, before they reached the ground. Unlike the narrow improv-staircase, the hollowed mini cave was a bit more spacious. There was a crystal-light, a simple tool that could be charged with mana to give light, standing on a wooden table and right beside was— "Oh, the adventurers?" another unimportant person! Most likely standing guard or something. He had a book in hand titled 'The disadvantages of dying a lot'.

"Any news?" The escort, who thankfully had a different font color, asked back. "Nah, everything silent down here." With that, the escort's face darkened. "Don't worry man! Your girl is gonna be fine! Just you see! We got the help of those Immortals. Immortals, man! You know, the Titan Slayer's and all!""...""Dude, stop being so pessimist. You're her husband! It has only been two weeks! Remember when she was stuck in the Upside Down? It had been two months and she was fine after! Jeez, if we were ma- eh..." He swallowed the words he was about to say. "Eh..." So what were they here for again?

"Oh, yeah. Alright! See this metal door over there?" He pointed at the big metal door that was, not unlike the Arcadia, looking more like it had been "forced" into this place rather than earth and plants growing naturally around it. "So, if I open it..." With those words, the guard simply went over and touched the metal at which, the door simply slid open, revealing an empty room the size of an elevator. "Nothing!"

He went silent for like 5 seconds before the door closed automatically. "Now, we run a bunch of tests on it and everything but nada and nothing. BUT! That's where you come in! Because if you decide to stand in there, the door closed, and we open it again: You will be gone! Or at least, that's what happened so far. Now, one could assume you just get killed, right? But, like, no traces at all? That's just... weird? Because, why? So, we also have this little device." He pulled out an Amulet that had something akin to a dial-plate on it which he quickly started to operate.

"You see, these things aren't that common but they help us communicate over long distances with each other! Now, the people we send into this room all had one, but we can't reach em! Now, this little tool!" He pulled out something else. This time, a compass? It had a crystal needle pointing towards the elevator-sized room. "Points at the strongest source of...urgh, what was that stupid term Nora mentioned again?""Just call it mana.""But that's not!... Eh, whatever. Yeah, so, it points at the strongest source of Mana. Only really works at closer range, otherwise too unreliable! Either way." He opened the door once again before reaching the hand that held the compass inside: The needle went crazy. "BOOM! Lotsa magic! Yet, somehow, we can't really track it. Sooo... with all that stupid exposition done, that's where you come into play! Get into that room and just... solve the...mystery? You might actually die, BUT you're immortal, so you could tell us after, right? So, you ready for a field trip?"

"..." Seigi seemed uncertain, for a moment. But maybe she was just baffled that there was someone who talked even more than herself?

  4. img "..."

The blank stare hid a great deal of embarrassment only hinted at by the tiniest bit of flush in her cheeks. No one up to this point knew about her dying to a silly green man among those she came across. On top of that she said she killed him? Sigh... so much for that objective. Even less reason to do this game but, she was here now.

Seigi was definitely going to make up for the lack of teammates on this trip. Not in the good way. How did she even defeat that overpowered monster? Grinding because she had no life? Yeah that was most likely. If only Chelsea's biggest concern was how much leveling up she needed to do in a given day. Then the comment about immortals was brought up. So NPC call them that? They expect them to come back from death... If the game thought the players were immortal but a bug existed that killed them for real. Would the game replace them with collected data of their brainwaves to maintain the reality of them being immortal?

Would that data be regenerated every death? Watanabe agreed with her... but there still felt to be holes in that theory.

Saying nothing until the moment the door slid open to enter was must have been a elevator or maybe a... transporter? She would take a step forward and check it with her investigation mode. This mode was actually pretty useless for many things she began to realize. It certainly didn't tell her what this might be powered by.

"No one is a immortal and expecting that from anyone is foolish. We just have... more lives than some people. That might even be wrong."

She turned to Seigi and raised her eyebrows ever so slightly with inquiring look

"Let's go see this place then?"

Stepping inside with or without Seigi. Chelsea would have to wait and see what happened next. If the one who killed Chelsea's killer was too afraid of some little elevator. The Nexon heiress most certainly was not. She would have to find another way to undo that shame to her family.

Getting to the bottom of all these issues would be a good alternative.

    @Seigi

  5. "Ah... sure! Don't worry, gloomy-guy-which-name-I-never-got! We definitely bring your waifu back!" For a moment, Seigi acted so out of character as she gave one of the faceless mooks a thumbs-up, that one had to wonder what was going through her mind. Either way, she couldn't let herself be out-done by N! This... this wasn't like some other times. There was no giant, obvious, death-door. This was the right time to be heroic and do good. Why did the orange-hair get so anxious anyway?

"Good Luck! And remember, Little Lady N is in charge!" Either way, as Seigi stood besides Lady N the door closed. It was completely dark and silent. A few seconds passed as N could hear some sort of thumping noise. It was loud, like, really close by! "That's a first! I can not punch the door open, it didn't even bend! I think." Were they trapped? A few more seconds passed until, suddenly, the two could hear a sound akin to glass breaking as an intense pain ran through their heads. Followed by the room lighting up with the same magitek-ish vines that N had seen in the Arcadia.

"Urgh..." For the to pain used Seigi, she simply went on her knees for a moment. And suddenly, the 'room' started to... move? It felt like being in an elevator, without noise. It was hard to tell which direction exactly, but clearly, they were moving!

"Are you alright?" Seigi now asked N. "I thought, or at least I assumed, there would be nothing "below" it, you know? Seems like a really big oversight on from their side!" Yeah. They even had apparent Geomancers, so if some complex was hiding below then clearly it wasn't because the concept of an elevator was so alien to them... or could it be?

Either way. "Anyway..." Who knew how long they'd be stuck here? "I don't think we need to urgently break out right now? So..." How about to get to know each other better?! "Lady N!" Who was supposed to be in charge here? "What does the N stand for? Is it the initial of your name? No? Novice? Nano? Noble? Uh, Nunchuk? Neet? Nostalgia? Or, or, did you start playing to be someones N... Nemesis!?" There were so many words with N! Oh boy, she'd be here stuck for a while... maybe?

Regardless, depending on how trained N's eyes were, from time to time, she could notice some sort of static in her vision. Here and there, maybe once a minute. As if for, for a split-second, a part just flickered. Also, thinking about it, the headache didn't really go as fast as it had come, but rather, they got unnaturally accustomed to that sort of pain, or the lack-thereof.

    @Lady N

  6. img How could she have forgotten?

    Annoying? Check.

Someone who fights with their fists regardless of their opposition? Check.

Getting stuck alone with them in a investigative situation? Check.

Seigi Ling Ling... aka Raina Raythean. The same girl that had followed her up that hill and met a unfortunate fate for most likely mingling in Nexus affairs. This was her AI copy then?

It was... pretty spot on now that she thought about it. How should she even respond to this? She was stuck in a fantasy world's version of a elevator and trapped with a fake of Raina. The splitting headache and occasional... glitching(?) going on was not helping.

The wave of questions kept coming until finally.

"Terrasphere made you pretty annoying. That was definitely her most prominent trait. "

Chelsea's eyes slid to the side towards Seigi while keeping herself facing the door. Now that she remembered and put it together. This copy would get that exact treatment. Copying a human being... such a horrible joke.

"If you are here to save the waifu as you put it, of a fellow NPC. Then focus on that. ...yeesh."

The girl shook her head. The glitching was really bothering her. Was it because of the place they were in, because of the games attempt to mimic the Raythean heiress, or...?

"N is just N. It's a letter that matters to me."

A thought crossed her mind and she slightly turned her head in Seigi's direction but not by much.

    "..."

Might as well, there seemed to be some time, and talking to the replica might be worth something if it had any memory data of the fate of it's player.

"Why are you named Seigi? Why are you taking a quest? Is this fun for you? Or do you feel... you have to do it?"

Her amethyst eyes squinted as she focused on Seigi. Analyzing how she would react to those questions while pretty much dismissing the heroine copies own question for the most part.

    @Seigi

  7. "You? Her? Annoying? Uh... Hey! Calling people annoying is very rude, you know!" Seigi called out in half-confusion about @Lady N words. Making use of her vast weeaboo knowledge, however, the orange-hair came to a perfectly fine solution. Maybe, no, certainly, Seigi reminded Lady N about someone else!? Some dead person that was close to her! Maybe a deceased sibling? Seeing it like that, N's reaction was actually kinda cute! "Actually, nevermind..." The orange-hair added meekly after calling N rude just now.

Instead, she focused on something else! "N is a letter that matters to you...? Like... how some people associate seven with luck? Alright!" Seigi said the last word with a beaming smile. She was totally approving of that.

Now, for the barrage of questions N had, the totally gullible girl had no problem answering every single one of them. From top-to-bottom like a shopping list. "Seigi stands for Super Epic Intelligent Girl Idol! S-E-I-G-I!" Seigi giggled. "Err, no, I'm just joking. It stands for JUSTICE! Literally! And I'm doing this because I want to! It's the right thing to do. People are missing. We gotta save them, right?" The girl scratched her cheek a bit. "Buuuut I can't deny adventuring is fun, also!" That were all of N's questions, right?

Either way, as if on cue, the pseudo-elevator finally opened its door again! "Final- Eh?" At first, happy to be out of this rather tight room, the hero-girl showed utter confusion. Just where were they!?! The door to the elevator would now remain open...

It was a place kinda familiar to N - yet it was not. From what the young tinker girl had seen, the place was certainly of the Arcadia design that she knew of. Metal over metal with rather simple Magitek veins along the various surfaces. The distinct difference, however, was that there was also a whole lot of Nothing. Literally. There was a certain 'empty Void' all over the place.

It wasn't like any of the structural integrity was broken. Rather, it was as if someone had painted over the place. A whole lot was simply not there anymore, other parts were 'floating' in the air, yet perfectly firm in place.

For the most part, N and Seigi could fill their entire vision with this monotone Nothingness that robbed them of depth perception and balance. Spatial awareness seemed to be pretty tough, too, considering a doorframe further up ahead lead to a devastated room that showed no signs of even being there if looked upon from anywhere but through the doorframe itself.

Luckily for the two, however, the floor was more-or-less kept intact. "That's... pretty freaky..." The orange-hair simply said as her eyes kept on the floor. The metallic road was really their only way forward. There wasn't even any indication of being below ground anymore.

Sooner, rather than later, the two of them reached a closed door that pretty much blocked their way. Behind the door itself was simply more void, yet, both of them were aware that spatial rules did not apply to this place anymore. "Maybe this one will open!?" Seigi asked as she, just as before, punched it! "Owowowow." Alas, it was another door not deemed punchable as the orange-hair held her bandaged fist in pain.

Just like somewhere else, however, @Lady N recognized part of a crystal construct beside the door. Hopefully, the controls for the door, the raven-haired Tsundere quickly repeated what Nora once did to operate the door controls and, despite part of the crystal absorbed by the voice, voila, she managed!

The metal door slowly cranked upon!

Before any of the two could see into the next room, however, the weak headache that they got used to increased in intensity as their vision started to blur. "N?!" Seigi called out as a sound of static could be heard. "N, are you al—" The static, the blurred vision, the headache. Every single symptom increased more and more until it felt like their head was about to split open.

At the height of it all, an even louder sound of glass shattering could be heard as suddenly, everything went silent. It was completely dark. Neither of the two could move their body. Not a single muscle. One had to wonder if they even still had one.

    "L͝èàve͡."

Something made a sound and as if on cue, everything went back into action. From here to now. Seigi, Lady N, their ability to move, think, breath, talk. Everything was back to normal. The two were standing at the far side of a big, metallic, platform that was surrounded by the void. There were also a few corpses gently floating on the spot. Some sliced into pieces, other just a few parts missing, and yet some others were still complete. A few of them were still pretty recognizable, wearing some standard Explorers League wear while some other were just simple skeletons or so rotten that it was hard to tell anything.

"W-What is that!?" Seigi now asked as she pointed forward. Not at the corpses. But something else...

img Just looking at this... abnormality(?) Was a headache inducing. The two could tell it had some sort of humanoid form, yet, it kept constantly shifting and glitching in place. Was it... was it lifting its arm and ppinting at them?!

    "̵̛͡҉L̡-̷͜Ĺ̢̀̕͝-̧̛̕͜L̴e̴̢͟͝É̶͟à͝͏á͜͝-̷A̴͞Á̴̶͝-̶v҉̸́͜͡a̶̡v̸̧͡͠.̶̨́͠.̧̢.̷̢̀v̷̷̵͜͡V̴̷̡́ȩ͘͟͟ȩ̸̀E͢͠E҉̧̧̢È̷́͟!̵̸̧͜҉!̧́́̕1̡͘͟͞1̡͠1̷̧̧.͏͘͞͡.̢̀.̵̧͝҉́!̧̛̀̕!̨̡̛͘͜

For just a second, it felt like every single cell in their body was violently exploding, before everything was normal again. Evidently, no damage had been done to them...?

Seigi cried out in pain as she gathered herself. "I... urgh... that thing... certainly... NOT friendly! Also, those things seem super suspicious!" Had they always been there, too? Afloat in the air were two crystals, also glitching - albeit just slightly. "Not like I can reach them... but... I could throw you!?"

The lingering data gave answers that were... very appropriate for Seigi and Raina's character? Maybe a little worse actually. Chelsea did not know much beyond what she learned in her investigations and the one time they had met in and out of game.

Was she really this obnoxious? Yeesh...

"Save them? Yeah I suppose saving data is important to other data. ...You are a mockery of a dead girl. Does that even compute for you? ...Sigh... never mind."

The sight that was before her was actually more than enough to take her attention off of bullying the copy. Why was she doing that? It was part of the enemies creations... whatever that enemy was, she wasn't exactly sure. Possibly Nexus... most definitely.

"What is this? Did the game malfunction?"

That explained the glitching earlier. Then is this Seigi clone going to glitch out too? Was this some elaborate trap? The Oracle of the Mountain did give her the info that led her here... this could be...

"Do you feel sick? This place might alter your coding. If you do anything strange, I'm going to have to use force."

Shifting up her sleeve. Her N Slicer became visible.

It did not take too much longer for..

    Leave

    Sigh... what now?

    "...Ah...."

Chelsea's calm expression shattered as the ...well what could only be called a massive walking glitch of death, came towards them. Along with two somewhat glitchy... crystals? Perhaps a glitched magical enemy? Great.

"This was not exactly what I expected to find... boo."

Fighting off her inner shivers, and thoughts that something like this could very well lead to her suffering a similar fate as the rest of the victims upon death. Chelsea ignored the martial artist and spun the disk on her launcher.

The razor flew straight at a Crystal as she went to work controlling it via the invisible laser ... or whatever it was called in this game.

"Am I feeling sick? YOU'RE the wrong talking weird! Anyway, let's get punching." Seigi nodded as N gave her intent on focusing the lasers. "Just stay behind me and I'll protect you." With those words, Seigi charged forward and did what she could do best: Punch things.

Fast and lethal, before too much damage could be done, was her plan. Between a-while-ago and now the hero-girl had actually reinforced her bandages. No longer were they just made out of simple cloth. Now, it was some sort of elastic metal. If it would break again under her strength, well, maybe next time she'd make gloves out of this places material.

"Whatever you are, BEGONE!" Seigi's fist landed right into the unmoving humanoid...thing. Did it work? Despite the mental assault, the girl felt in top-form! But... she couldn't tell. Heck, even punching Dissonance seemed like it gave more fe- "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

Seigi cried out in pain as her body started to glitch heavily around just like their enemy, and it did not stop! At least not until N destroyed one of the Crystals! With that done, the entire place seemed to shake for a second as Seigi got thrown back a few tiles. Her body, 'normal', but she had bruises, cuts, and bleeding all over.

"Weeeewww... that cough hurt. EEEHHH?" The orange-hair had barely time to recover as the walking glitch of doom had already caught up, continuing its assault. "S-Stop it..." Seigi coughed up blood as it literally hugged her. At least it didn't focus on @Lady N!

The observant, however, would notice that the anomaly glitched around a lot less now... .

img "... Hmph. Not very resilient are we?"

Chelsea said with a hint of smug pride. She had defeated it! Something like this could never beat her! Actually it probably could. She was surprsied her weapon even did damage to the crystal. So it must have been part of the game and not some virus. That would have been a serious problem.

It could still be infected by something.

    "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

Shifting her aim sharply to the right and preparing for another launch. The screams of Seigi reached her ears. Chelsea really wanted to ignore them. Really wanted to just consider the girl some left over data and focus on her own survival. Cheslea didn't have time to care for another, especially if they weren't real...

    "hurt. EEEHHH?

    So why then?

    "S-Stop it..."

    Yeesh.

"... Sigh! Those replicated screams are pretty realistic. N Slicer fly away!"

There was little doubt in the raven hair's mind that this glitch would be far more difficult to hit. Was it even there? The glitching had slowed down some so she had to keep breaking these crystals. Why did she do this for a fake? Was she that realistic? Was it just that Chelsea was sick of this game just murdering people whether they were real or not? No, she was doing this for herself too. If not more so. Winning was what she had to do for her family and herself! If she saved some rogue data of a dead girl than fine!

It wasn't like she cared or anything!

  8. The moment the second Crystal got destroyed, the distortions stopped completely and Seigi, who was still being tortured by the 'glitching entity', was forcefully thrown two meters away. Dangerously close to the endless void.

    "GGo... away..."

The now more humanoid, small looking girl said as she lifted her arm, aiming her open palm towards N. Rather than distorted, the being seemed to flicker now from time to time. In fact, the entire place started to flicker.

    "Initiating Ragnarok Protocol... 10... 9... 8... Se... Se... Seven... S-S-S-Six... FFfffiiivveee... f-four... t..."

And then, everything went black once more before, like a sudden scene shift from one place to another, they found themselves in a metallic corridor again. "W-What just...?" Seigi asked confused as she got interrupted by sudden footsteps coming closer. "Dear Immortals!" A voice called out to them as one of the Explorers League Assistants came along. "You... you did it!? Progress! I don't know what you did but suddenly an entire entry-way appeared inside the box!" He pointed behind himself, showing the far-end of the corridor ending in an open door that led to the cave they had just been half an hour or so before.

"So, have you found the others? It was some kind of illusion spell, I take? We weren't able to pick anything up."

The others. The... corpses. Maybe... but. "..."

"A-Anyway! The Explorers League can be pretty strict when it comes to these things. So if I may ask you to accompany me back out, for now? We have experts." Experts, huh? Well, those experts didn't seem much of a help when solving the mystery of... whatever!

Either way, N, and Seigi had to comply. An adventure cut short. Though, in the long run, they would be informed that this was just another Tuatha ruin without any breakthroughs. In case any of the two asked about the weird glitchyness, or the corpses, they would have been only met with confusion. The dead Explorers Leagues explorer were never found.
